Another disappointment from Justin Lose. This time failing to medal in the WJC and recently failing to put up a point in his first two games with Riga. Is he cursed with his last name? We spoke with Lose about this possibility. "Oh ha ha, very funny and original. I've heard that for years and years. Bullied in school because of my last name, not being picked for sports, etc. I'm tired of hearing that. Lose is my last name period. I don't care about what anyone else says. I put in the work and sometimes the puck doesn't bounce your way. Obviously this is the case with the WJC and my time in Riga so far. Give me time and let me bond with my teammates. I'm sure I'll be gunning for that rookie title by the end of the year." Bold claims by Lose. Hopefully he can back it up on the ice.

1. Obviously I want to win, so I'm going to say a winner. 5. If I don't workout I usually play some video games with friends. 6. Very. Considering I don't speak Latvian. 7. Nope. I don't even want to embarrass myself even trying to. 8. Season 75 really gave us a boom of new players so not everyone will be picked. I think it's a great way to say prove to us that you are ready. 9. Cereal and then milk. Anything else is a crime.

This is awesome! I didn't think anyone would actually read my media spot nor respond to it! Honestly I think this is perfect and I'm honored that you responded. Plus I think you did a much better job on this than mine. I guess I can double this as a review. Great use of pictures and detailed report for each. I wouldn't change anything. 10/10!

So far I've had a few pre game rituals that I must do the day before or even on gameday. They help me be in the right mindset for game time. My teammates give me space whenever I'm doing my ritual. They know not to mess with me. When I'm in game time mode, I don't want to be messed with. I've actually had a few different rituals so far. Let me explain a few to everyone. Philadelphia Reapers Day Before So I'm kind of cheating here since this is my juniors ritual. I always have an Italian meal the night before. It doesn't matter what I have, as long as it is Italian. This kind of changed when I had back to backs in that I don't have a full meal. I usually do a dessert instead. Socks must be off when I sleep the day before gamedays too. Gameday Gameday is when I really focus. I must listen to my pump up music on Spotify. My teammates actually pulled a prank on me since I was the new guy and switched my pump up music to some Disney music instead. I believe this was the start of my time on the Reapers which actually kept me off the score sheet for a few games. I think they learned really quick not to mess with me again. Sometimes I also listen to a podcast if I feel more relaxed (easier game schedule). Right before the game I must re tape my sticks in a certain way. The color of tape is usually depending on my mood. My favorite ritual is trying to be the last one on the ice after the warmups are over. Sometimes the other team has players that know that and try to stay on the ice as long as possible. I find my ways to be the last one off. Mexico City Kings Day Before This is kind of the same as Philly but with one change. That change is to stay off social media all day. This means I don't check anything the day before or even on gameday. Social media isn't really for me, but when I do check my socials it's after a game on the bus/flight. Gameday To add on the existing rituals from Philly, I also added trying to score on our teams goalie during warmup. If I score then I know I'm gonna find the net later in the game (sometimes worked). Warmup is honestly the only time where I can be happy and Zen at the same time. I also take it very seriously in important matchups. Those are a few of my rituals. I'm sure everyone has their own. Mine are a little weird and oddly specific. I'm gonna try some new stuff when I get up to the VHL and see what works. By the way, I use the same rituals from Mexico City during this WJC tournament. Lets hope that it works and USA gets the gold. Let me know what some of your rituals are. I'm curious to know what others do. - Justin Lose

I figured I would do a little blog about my time in the WJC right now. Currently I'm in the hotel after practice resting a bit before our game tonight. It is definitely a new experience for me. After the game 6 loss to the Reapers I had to hop on a flight so I can be with my USA teammates for the WJC. Didn't really give me enough time to process what happened, but after I got back on the ice for practice it got better. Got to stay focused for the WJC. That's the only thing important for me right now. It's also nice to have a friendly face with me on the team. John Callahan Jr is apparently stalking me since he followed me to Philly and Mexico City.... I'm kidding (if it wasn't obvious). We are line mates and it's been going very well. We really have great chemistry on the ice. Sucks that once WJC is over he won't be following me to Riga. It's honestly a surreal experience just being here representing the USA on ice. I grew up watching this and now I'm in the tournament and with that, I should get ready for my game later. Lets go USA!

Lose is on fire right now. Let's go USA!!!!!

1. We picked up some future and decent players. 2. That's cool. Hopefully he can put up those numbers again this season. 3. The Dawson trade looks promising. Getting a 3rd is also nice. 4. It feels great to finally put my work on the ice. 5. It sucks we never got to play. Hopefully we can meet again soon. 6. Welcome! Hopefully you mesh well with the team. 7. I think we need to grow this season. We have a lot of rookie talent, including myself, that need to adjust to the faster pace of VHL compared to VHLM. 8. Most likely Dawson, which would make the trade worth it. 9. Probably lost motivation. 10. Not sure. Get some experience?

Review: This looks amazing. I'm assuming the background is the miracle on ice picture? This definitely screams USA which is the point. The faded American flag in the background is a nice touch too. The cutout on the player is very clean too. No need for jersey replacement either which must have been nice. Overall this is very clean and visually pleasing. Excellent work! 10/10

It sucks to lose, but GG Philly. It was a close series.

This season has been a wild ride for Justin Lose. From being drafted in both the VHLM (18th overall) and VHL (26th overall) drafts. He even signed his first contract with his draft team, Riga Reign. Justin Lose also started a full VHLM season with the Mexico City Kings and finishing first in the league. He had a career season with 33 goals and 43 assists for 76 points in 72 games played. He made the playoffs for the first time since missing playoffs last season with the Philadelphia Reapers. He put up a point a game in the playoffs with 6 goals and 10 assists for 16 points in 16 games. Lose even got selected to represent the United States in the World Juniors Championship after the playoffs are over. "This season has been incredible. From draft day to the cup finals, it has been a crazy ride with the Mexico City Kings. I even got selected to represent the United States in the World Juniors. That was one of my goals when coming to the VHLM last season. I feel like I'm right at home with Mexico City Kings. Nothing can stop us from winning the cup this season!" The Philadelphia Reapers. In the cup finals, Philadelphia Reapers vs Mexico City Kings, the Kings fell to the Reapers 2-4 after a hard fought battle. After not being drafted by the Reapers in the VHLM dispersal draft, this has hit Lose hard. Losing to the team that saw potential in you in your waiver season, only to beat you in the finals the next season. "Of course this is a hard pill to swallow. I remember hanging out with the team on draft day and having a good time and watching my name get called in the VHLM draft. Getting a message from DMaximus congratulating me on being picked by Mexico City. It sucks losing your friends in the locker room like that. Unfortunately that's how the league goes. Never get comfortable. Fast forward to overtime in game 6 and watching the Reapers score and lifting the cup on their home ice.... Man that hit me hard. I'm proud to be apart of Mexico City, but that stings. I'm mad at myself for not contributing as much as I should have. After the first round I let off the gas a bit. I guess I coasted along for too long. I need to be better. This is a great learning experience. I hope that when I go to Riga I can prove that I belong and make an impact." With the Kings loss to the Reapers, season 75 with the Mexico City Kings is done for Justin Lose. He must regain his focus and motivation when he takes the ice and goes for the gold in the World Juniors with the United States. After that tournament he moves onto the VHL and the Riga Reign! "It sucks that I don't get another shot at the cup in the VHLM. 0 for 2 cups does suck and de-motivate some people. I feel like after a few days of processing the loss, I will be ready and motivated as ever to win gold for the US. The sky is now the limit for me in the VHL too. Riga Reign is my team and I will give everything I have to them on the ice. I want to win a cup with Riga."

Getting selected to represent the United States in the World Juniors Championship is an honor. For season 75, Justin Lose will join the elite players to represent the United States. After a productive season with the Mexico City Kings and recent success in playoffs it would be an easy choice to choose him. Let's get a quick word in from Justin Lose about this achievement. (This interview was before the start of the finals) "It's an exciting time right now. Fighting for the cup with Mexico City and now being selected to represent the United States in the World Juniors Championship. This is crazy. Last season I would have never dreamed of being in this position. I feel honored and I can't wait to get on the ice with my fellow Americans and win a damn gold medal! But first I have to focus on getting this cup to Mexico City!"

10th Annual Unofficial VHL Regular Season Awards – S75
youloser1337 replied to DMaximus's topic in Archived Media Spots
Review: Oh wow. This is a beast of a media spot. The hard work that must have been put in to make. Personally, I hope I make a category next season if I make the VHL . The use of the tables makes it easy and clear to see past winners compared to the current winner. The small writeups for each award is fantastic too. No problems that I can see. Perfection. Keep up the great work! 10/10! -

Review: Wow, what a writeup. I think it is great that you recognized so many people for their hard work this season. You went into great detail about everything too! Everything was clean and clear and easy to read. I can't find any faults. Great work! 10/10 -
Mexico City Kings Press Conference

1. I THINK WE REALLY WORKED TOGETHER AS A TEAM AND WE PULLED THROUGH. IT WAS A FUN SERIES BUT NOW WE HAVE TO BE SERIOUS. 2. SASKATOON WOULD BE COOL SINCE THEY ARE THE UNDERDOGS VS VEGAS. 3. GOTTA BE SAN DIEGO. THEY BEAT LAST SEASONS CHAMPS IN A SWEEP. 4. YES BUT I WON'T SAY WHAT IT IS SO WE CAN'T BE JINXED. 5. HELL YEAH! THIS IS A GREAT COMMUNITY AND I'M HONORED TO BE APART OF IT. 6. I THINK VANCOUVER HAS A SHOT AT BEING BACK TO BACK CHAMPS THIS SEASON. -
Playoff hockey is a different beast compared to the regular season. Everything gets multiplied by 50 as everyone fights to win the cup. All of the work you've done during the season is tested over a few weeks. For Justin Lose this is a new beast for him in the VHLM. Last season the Reapers failed to make the playoffs and this motivated Justin Lose to work harder to get the chance to dance. This season is a different story. Mexico City Kings have secured the number 1 seed in the playoffs. We caught up to Justin Lose before the madness began to get his initial thoughts. "It's crazy to think at this point last season I was cleaning out my locker after missing the playoffs and this year we are the 1st seed. My hard work finally paid off and we really worked together as a team and got to this point. I'm going to be pushing myself to the limits to win a cup here as my last hoorah. I think I caught the attention of Riga so I think this will be my last shot at the VHLM. I won't let Mexico City down." - Justin Lose

Review: Wow this looks really nice. I like how the player really stands out compared to the background. Makes it seems really sharp which is a nice artistic touch. I think the only downside is the name. I would maybe make it stand out a bit more. I think it's a bit hard to see on that background. Overall I think this is a great graphic. Excellent work! 9.5/10!

All the movements before trade deadline in the VHLM!
youloser1337 replied to Dom's topic in Archived Media Spots
Review: Wow I didn't realize how much went on. Of course we only got news about the trades with my team, Mexico City Kings. This seemed like a good deal of work to do. My only problem is that in the dark mode it is hard to see what the the trades are. I won't take away points for it since it's not really in your control. One thing I think is really neat is the fact you put the TPE amount next to the traded players. Although you don't go into each trade, it basically writes itself why the trade was made. Maybe put a conclusion or an overall review? Otherwise great work! 9/10!
