We are at the 1/3 mark of the regular season in season 90 . And that’s usually where I do my comparisons to NHL counterparts . I’m particularly excited to share this seasons edition with how special a team the Stars are this year. Without further a do let’s get started .

I think this is the perfect comparison for the resident dancing guru on the Stars , Dynamite has always been an Uber talented forward , This season with the Stars Dynamite has experienced a real breakout season and found some nice chemistry with long time Star Todd Cooke ! Dynamite is a full 200 foot player and has come as advertised when LA traded for him in the off season.

    Todd Cooke
    Leon Draisaitl

Cooke has started this season on an absolute tear , looking to finally establish himself as a top tier centre in the VHL . Boy has he done that and more a leader or near the top of most statistical categories this season Cooke has done a good job at putting himself in the Conversation with other top players in the VHL . I for one can’t wait to see where he will be sitting when the season comes to an end.

    Svatopluk Puk @Otaznik
    Mitch Marner

Puk also came over in the trade with New York in the off season and has been everything LA has needed and wanted when they acquired him , Puk had been on an absolute year the last few sims currently sitting with 33 points in 27 games . Once he found his feet and got up and running he hasn’t looked back . Puks an exciting 2 way winger and has proven to be an important piece to the puzzle for the Stars this season.

    Sunglasse Joyo @JetsGoalie101
    Andrei Kuzmenko

The Fan favourite Sunglasses wearing Centre has been crucial for the Stars this on special teams , Joyo has been lights out on the power play and penalty kill and every other situation the Stars have put him in he’s succeeded. Always willing to put the team first . Joyo is nearly producing at a point per game , if he keeps capitalizing on his opportunities I see him producing at a point per fame or better by the end of this season . All while wearing his Sunglasses.

    Gregger Mckeggegger @TheNeonShaman
    Nick Richie

Mckeggegger is a HUGE. Power forward who uses his size and skill to get to the dirty areas and wear his opponent’s down , this young promising winger is gonna be tremendously good once he fully develops and adjusts to the VHL game fully . Mckeggegger is only gonna continue to get better as his career progresses.

    Adam Rage @MrMom
    Blake Coleman

Rage is another hard nosed young player in the Stars lineup , plays hard every night and like Mckeggegger goes to this dirty area to make the play . Rage was a late addition to the team in the offseason but what a welcome addition he’s been. Hopefully this is just the beginning of rages success in LA.

    Defence

    Elais Lampi @Pifferfish
    Cale Makar

The newest addition to the LA Stars backend reminds me a lot of Makar in that he’s always in the right position to make a play and sees the ice so incredibly well. Lampi was acquired early this off season and he’s been a solider on the back end and looks like he will be the top d man on this team for many years to come .

    Callum Murray @Berocka
    Victor Hedman

The longtime Stars defender is in his final season as a member of the Stars , this hard hitting blue liner is everything you could ever want in a Defenceman and a captain to your team . This year LA will no doubt try and win a cup for him in his farewell season.

    Jens Lekman @Bobcat
    Miro Heiskanen

Lekman is a returning young player this season with a lot of upside ! He will join Lampi as the future of the Stars blue line for seasons to come ! Lekman is very rarely caught out of position . He seemingly always does the right thing with the puck . Lekman is truly an important piece to the Stars !

    Goalies

    Art Vandelay @Gustav
    Ilya Sorokin

Vandelay has been a top goalie and one of the best in the VHL for a longtime now so it’s not surprising that I compared him to sorokin he truthfully deserves every word of that praise . Vandelay is in the midst of a career season right now and doesn’t look to be slowing down at all anytime soon.

    Matthew Mckagg @Jack kidd
    Stuart Skinner

Mckagg is a young goalie full of promise making his debut for the Stars , under Vandelays guidance and tutalage he could turn out to be a very good goalie in years to come .

    @InstantRockstar Joe Sakic

Rockstar is always finding ways to improve his team and make them better , whether it’s finding talent in the draft or making trades . Rockstar always has the best interest of his team in mind . And that sure shows this season as he’s turned LA into a powerhouse in the season.

    2. Would have to be the Cookie Monster

    3. Well we have lost some games so I would have to say we shouldn't lose any

    4. I didn't get to do VHFL this season but I am only going to get 1 less TPE this season than I usually do

    5. I honestly think it is a toss up between the two greatest teams to exist, LA Kings and Arizona Coyotes who ever wins the matches in Australia will win the cup

    6. The return of the almightly LA Stars to the top of the ladder and no longer being a wildcard/cusp team

For this weeks Around the League in 500 words I want to talk about Rip Wheeler’s dumb ass and an amazing LA Stars club ripping through the league.

    RIP WHEELER
So….my friend, Calgary forward Rip Wheeler @ScottyPScott, the brunt of many of my criticisms has started this season much better than last.  Now last year, despite being on a line with Hall of Famer Daniel Janser, he managed 6 whole points all season…..6!.  Now, I spent all last season calling him exactly what he was playing like…. a shit sack.

Now this season, Calgary is without some of the amazing talent they had, and Rip has been asked to step it up a bit.  He has answered the bell…somewhat.  He still doesn’t understand how to shoot the puck but has come out banging.  In 22 games he has amassed 102 hits, good for a tie for #1 overall with AK97 Wit a Hoodie.  Pretty good turn around in one stat department.  BUT…let’s look at his other contributions or lack thereof.

Goals: 6  Assists 4 10 Points.  Grade:  Not good
    +/-  - 1                                         Grade: Ok
PIM: 24    -                                  Grade: OK – not hurting the team despite hitting.
SB: 4   (yes 4).                            Grade: WTF- don’t be scared
PPG:  0                                        Grade: Can’t fault Rip for this.  Calgary is smart to keep him off PP
Shots: 46                                    Grade: Better- roughly two shots a game but has almost equaled                                                                            all of last year’s shots (49)

Overall I like the fact Rip is doing better even though I am still going to trash him so I can get my TPE for media spots and so will @Thunder.  He finally hit 500 so I got 10 TPE to add to Payne so thank you Rip.  I am still disappointed when I see Welfare added to his updates because I work with his lazy ass and know he has plenty of time to write something.  But hopefully him leading some categories lights a fire under him.

    LA ON FIRE:
At 22 games into the season the LA Stars are singing. There currently 16-5-1 with a league leading 78 goals and tied for league best with only 53 games allowed. This shows me that they are freaking deadly at both ends of the ice.

    OFFENSE:
There is a lot to like about this team’s offensive firepower.  Todd Cooke @KRZYhas been lights out.  The #27 pick in the S84 draft is making teams that passed him up cry as he tears through the league’s best defenders.  With 17G 25A 42PTS Cooke is off to an easy 100 + point season.  Cooke just sees the ice so well and his passing game is on point with the best in the league.  Also, up front is Napoleon Dynamite @thadthrasher and Svatopluk Puk @Otaznik who are already double digit in goals and assists.

    DEFENSE:
So. I am always partial to defenders and there is a lot to like on this LA club.  Tied for first for defensive scorers Elias Lampi @Pifferfish with 30 points.  He also likes to sacrifice for his club with 52 blocked shots.  Also on D is one of my favorite defenders and often overlooked as one of the leagues best, Callum Murray @Berocka.  At 607 225 this smooth skating dman can hurt you at both ends of the ice.  23 goals last year, Murray can score in bunches and still cover his own end. It’s a no wonder they have only allowed 53 goals with these two patrolling the back end.

    Goalie:
The #1 overall pick in S84, Art Vandelay is an absolute brick wall.  16-5-1 with .0926 SV% and 3 shutouts, AV @Gustav is up to about any challenge should his defense allow a forward through their already tough wall.  It’s a no brainer why this club is doing so well to start and clubs will have to hit the drawing board in an effort to get pucks by this group.

Kudos to @InstantRockstar for building a great team.  However, I hope it all falls apart when you play Vancouver!   LOL

KRZY got a reaction from Scurvy in Cooke and Dynamite clicking early
The LA Stars are on one this season currently the top team in the league . Playing good hockey at both ends of the ice this season. This might come to a shock for some as at one point in the Off season it looked as if LA would be a fringe playoff team fighting for a wildcard spot.

What is a big reason for this early season success you might ask ? Well the play of their newest dynamic duo of course .

When Stars vet Todd Cooke and Newcomer Napoleon Dynamite @thadthrasherwere  both drafted in the S84 draft class I don’t think they ever envisioned playing together in the VHL . Until this season of course. These 2 Superstar forwards are clicking early on this season and it shows as they are among the top of multiple statistical categories this season . One impressive area where they sit 1 and 2 in the league respectively is plus minus . ( I know some people don’t put much stock into that statistic) but I think it’s very impressive how these 2 play a strong game at both ends of the ice .

I know it’s only 12 games in and there’s a lot of time left in the season but things are looking really good in LA as long as this duo stays productive and plays their game.

KRZY reacted to sportexperts show in Edmonton Oilers are ready for 2023-2024 season
Here we go, another good old season of hockey is coming up! You already know I'm excited. Today we are going to talk about the Edmonton Oilers that are ready to go for this season.

For signings the oilers have had some questionable signs and some good ones. Like drake caggiula??? That guys been washed since he was 18, hopefully he stays in the AHL or I'll get pissed. BUT FINALLY, Bouchard's been handed a contract. A two year worth US$3.9 million dollars annually. I am so glad since he's been so good lately. McLeod, janmark, hoefenmayer,Pederson,Gleason and Connor Brown have been signed or resigned recently.

Good old Connor Brown, man I love this guy's play style and I'm 100% sure he will help the team. Connor's been in a bunch of teams and he's been a pretty consistent player averaging 30-40 point seasons. Me personally I think he's breaking his 43 point season this year. Brown is also a veteran so he can help the teams prospects and players that need help in certain areas.

Janmark and McLeod are gonna have the best seasons of their lives. They are both  such underrated players. They don't score much but they help the team in both ends. I think that McLeod will make a few apperances with McDavid in that first line and Janmark can carry the third, fourth lines.

Enough with the talking of contracts, let's get on to the whole team. Of course we have the craziest players in the world Connor freaking McDavid and Leon draisaitl that will just blow up the scoreboard like they always do but this team is not only a "2 man team" as a bunch of people say. They're stacked. Lately Hyman, nugent-hopkins and kane are going INSANE and for the defensive side of course you have Ekholm and Bouchard that are such a good duo. They are going to make the playoffs 100% unless something goes wrong.

For me I am so sad that Yamamoto and Kostin are gone. I loved them. The short king(I'm probably won't even get taller than him) and the big hitter. These guys can score and be a bit aggressive. So sad they left. I even liked puljajarvi(probably wrote that wrong), he was a goat I have a signed stick of him and he tossed me a puck(hihihiha).

Also, this teams depth is really good(finally). The whole team is scoring goals and I love that. Like I am just so excited for this team in the upcoming season it's crazy. The team has really good expectations so I hope they can prove that they can be apart of the top teams in the league. Can McDavid get another 150 point season? I think so he's just so good and consistent. As long as there's no big injuries we got this in the bag.

To finish off, I think this team will be great! Their depth is amazing and they have 2 top players in the league. The goalies are good and it's just going to be a great season. Hope these guys can get close to a cup.

    Peace out, sports expert show.

KRZY reacted to Scurvy in LA owning the Wolves....so far
At the 14-game mark of the season the Vancouver Wolves are not where they want to be. In 4 games to the Los Angeles Stars they are 0-4.  Now, the Stars are packed with talent and Napoleon Dynamite is on fire with 9 G 17 A 26 PTS and Todd Cooke has 12 G 12 G 24 Pts making them a very tough team offensively.  And in Net, Art Vandelay is a brick wall with .935 save percentage with 2 shutouts.

What can the Wolves do to answer?? First, improve team defense.  Brandt Fuhr is holding it down in net but overall team defense seems to struggle against the Stars. Brian Payne is a -1 and Pierre Emile Bouchard is -2, not numbers those two are used to seeing.

Next, the team needs to break out offensively.  Surprisingly the slow start of the Wolves occurred last year as well, and they went on to challenge for a Cup.  Once they get dialed in this club has as much or more offensive talent ready to explode.

I like this early budding rivalry (well one sided so far) with LA and ho

KRZY got a reaction from Frank in Early season VHFL team check in
After the first 12 games of the season I figured I’d do a check in on my VHFL team to see how they are performing so far this season. I’m currently sitting in third place in my group which honestly I’m more then ok with at this point in the season. I usually struggle with VHFL when it comes time to draft my teams as I am not very good at predicting how people will do from season to season . Last season was a success as I cashed in on Wallob, Kowalski, and Lavelle ultimately I think I still finished 2nd or 3rd in my group but I still made 3 absolutely stellar picks that carried my team. This season I’m hoping to have much of the same success when the season ends. Let’s take a quick look at my team.

Round 1 3rd overall John Jameson
With my first pick I took John Jameson who at third was a no brainer . Jameson was lights out last season and finished as a top fantasy player . He puts up points , hits and produces in just about every way you want a player to both for your VHL team and Fantasy team. It’s also a bonus that the guy currently has the highest TPA in the VHL with 1400 at the time of writing this media spot . When the season ends I fully expect Jameson to again finish at the top of the leaderboards in the VHL and VHFL.

Round 2 10th Overall Skor McFluery
With my second Pick I picked a defenceman I felt was going to pop off this season . Skor was a top defender last season and I feel like he could finish the season as the top defender in the league . He’s the total package currently leading my team in terms of fantasy points production with 53.8. Skor is everything you want in a Defenceman both in the VHL and VHFL . I believe he could finish like I said as the top Defenceman in the VHL and as a top player aswell. Skor was in my opinion a steal at 10th Overall .

3rd Round 15th Overall Pierre Emile Bouchard
In the 3rd Round I went with the always consistent Bouchard . I was shocked that he hadn’t been picked up yet by this point as we were very close to the halfway point of the draft. Bouchard has been good for me in past seasons and I’m hoping he will yet again pull through this season as well . Playing with Fantasy stud Brian Payne helps his case aswell . So far Bouchard is putting together another very good season in Vancouver which has become the norm for him in his VHL career so far !

4th Round 22nd Overall Clueless Wallob
At this point in time the goalies started going off the board and I went with the best goalie from last season. Wallob got traded in the off season to a very good Seattle time so I figured that was the perfect recipe for another lights out season for him. Although that has not quite been the case so far as the Bears have struggled out of the gate early , I can see Wallob again finishing the year among the top goalies in the VHL.

5th Round 27th Overall Todd Cooke
By the time i got to the 5th round I figured id go with my player . I figured if I didn’t get him in this round he’d be gone by the last round in the draft . You really couldn’t go wrong here selecting Cooke in my opinion. 3rd highest TPA in the VHL . Always a productive player and decent in Fantasy , one thing you could argue is he doesn’t quite hit enough to be that valuable in VHFL but hopefully that will turn around this season ! So far so good as Cooke had been having a terrific season in LA let’s hope he keeps it up !

6th Round 34th Overall Randy Bobandy
In the last round I couldn’t believe when I saw Bobandy still available, Like Wallob Bobandy has kinda struggled a bit outta the gate but I know he can turn it around based on the unreal season he had last year and how consistent Seattle always is . Bobandy I’m expecting big things from you this year don’t let me down !

Overall I’m extremely happy with my team and the players I picked . I believe in my team and the players I got hopefully they pull through for me and I can win my group this season !!

KRZY got a reaction from TheNeonShaman in LA Stars Season 90 Preview
With Season 90 getting underway I figured now is just a good of time as any to give you a sneak peak at the season 90 version of you LA Stars. This seasons squad looks quite different then past years , as there has been quite the influx of new players along with the regular faces you are used to seeing around Los Angeles.

Lets get started with the forward core suiting up for the stars this season.

    C - Todd Cooke
The last 2 seasons Cooke has done a good job establishing himself as a household name . This season however Cooke really would like to take another step forward and establish himself as a top 10-5 player in the VHL . He’s consistently gotten better every season in his VHL career so far the LA lifer will do everything in his power to accomplish this goal and bring a Cup to The Stars aswell.

    C - Napoleon Dynamite ( @thadthrasher )
The Dynamic forward is one of the many first year Stars playing in LA this season . The Stars struck gold when they acquired Dynamite in a trade with New York earlier this season . I fully anticipate Dynamite having a career year this season playing in LA alongside Cooke , Puk and Joyo .

    RW - Svatopluk Puk ( @Otaznik )
This Veteran Winger brings loads of experience and a very well rounded game to the Stars , Puk has put up good numbers and always been a contributor wherever he’s played throughout his career . On the tail end of his career you can bet he’s looking to help achieve the goal of playing for a Continental Cup this season.

    C - Sunglasse Joyo ( @JetsGoalie101 )
The always charismatic Joyo returns to LA for his fourth season for the Stars , each year we’ve seen steady improvements in Joyos game with sunglasses on of course ! I fully expect to see much the same this season and Joyo to have another career high season.

    LW - Gregger Mckeggegger ( @TheNeonShaman )
Mckeggegger returns for his sophomore season looking to improve and earn more i time and responsibility on the ice . I fully expect Gregger to be given ever opportunity to succeed and improve on and off the ice this season . Mckeggegger has all the tools and making of a future star in the league it’s just a matter of time !

    RW - Adam Rage ( @MrMom )
Rage was acquired in a late season trade with Moscow and will be relied upon to fill out LA’s Forward group . Much like Mckeggegger he will be given ample opportunities to prove himself throughout that season , and looks to be a big part of LA’s future moving forward.

Next we’ll move on to the Defenceman manning the blue line for the Stars this season.

    Callum Murray ( @Berocka)
Taking over as Captain of this years Stars team in his final farewell season Murray is the longest tenured skater on the team and is very deserving of the captain’s C always willing to do whatever is needed to try and get his team the W . Murray would like nothing more then to lead the Stars to a Continental Cup in his Final season before retirement.

    Elias Lampi ( @Pifferfish )
Lampi came over in a monster trade with Seattle early in the off season and after having a career year he will look to bring that momentum to LA and further breakout as a top defenceman for the Stars and carry the torch after Murray leaves at the conclusion of this season. Lampi will no doubt prove to be an important addition throughout the season.

    Jens Lekman ( @Bobcat )
Lekman is a young hard hitting puck moving defender that like Lampi will be a very very important player for the Stars going forward . Lekman is coming of a career best season last year and there’s no reason he can’t improve on those numbers this season.

And with that we’ll finish off with the Goalies.

    Art Vandelay ( @Gustav  )
Vandelay has been with the Srars for as long as Murray has and in that time he’s solidified himself as a top goalie in the league. The stars hit the jackpot taking him first overall way back in the season 84 draft. Vandelay will in my opinion be the most important player for the Stars this season !

    Matthew McCagg ( @Jack kidd )
McCagg is the lone rookie the Stars have this season . Coming in as backup McCagg is in one hell of a good spot learning from one of the best goalies the league has to offer . McCagg will take these next few years to grow and learn and eventually he might earn the started spot a few seasons down the road . One things forsure it will take a lot of work if that’s what he’s shooting for .

@InstantRockstar has done a very good job turning around a team that looked like theyd  be stuck in the mud meddling around no man’s land trying to fight for a wildcard spot into a true dark horse contender in the NA Conference.

KRZY got a reaction from AJW in LA Stars Season 90 Preview
