    His Time In The VHLM

Well as Season 79 for the VHLM comes to an end we’re taking this week to talk about a fan favourite in the Ottawa Lynx locker room #31 Alex Parise. He came to the lynx in the VHLM draft and stood in the goal for a whooping 71 games last season ending the season with a record of 23 - 43 - 5 with a 0.886 save percentage and a 3.81 goals against, he also made true to his promise at the beginning of the season and recorded 2 shutouts beating his first season in the VHLM by 1 shutout.

Alex might be a newcomer in the VHL ranks but he has proved he has the resolve and want to make it to the top league of the VHL. After just two short seasons in the VHLM, Mr. Parise will be leaving the VHLM to join one of the new VHLE Franchises which im sure there has been speculation on some fighting amongst the VHLE Gm’s on which franchise he will end up signing with in the offseason. I'm sure whichever team acquires this young goaltending star will be extremely happy with the acquisition.

As we look back at this young talent's two seasons in the VHLM we’ll look at his rookie season with the Minnesota Storm. Alex was a late season addition to the Storm roster, joining a experienced roster and back end with dexter vaughn as his VHLM mentor. He had an eye opener of a season and proved that his move from the WHL to the VHLM was a great call by the youngster. After joining late in the season with the few starts he received he made an impact on the team and in the league boasting a record of 6 - 1 - 1 with a 0.883 save percentage and a 3.76 goals against. He also tallied one shutout in his rookie season, this put him on the map with quite a few teams coming up to the VHLM dispersion draft and the VHL entry draft.

Following His rookie season in the VHLM with the Minnesota Storm, Alex entered the offseason with high hopes for the VHLM dispersal draft and the VHL entry draft. At the VHLM Draft you could almost feel the anticipation in the air waiting for his name to be called, low and behold it would be the Ottawa Lynx to call his name and Alex was ecstatic to join his new VHLM team. Fast forward a couple of days and it was off to the VHL entry draft for the young star. You could see the excitement in his face as he walked into the arena for the entry draft and with the 21st pick of the draft the CAlgary Wranglers called Alex’s name and welcomed him to their organization.

As his time in the VHLM comes to and end and this young star moves forward to the VHLE we are all excited to see what team he will sign with and we all cant wait to see what he will do in his career as it looks oh so very bright. For another week signing off at The OG Sports Center see you next week.

Review: Really like this graphic pretty cool concept. only thing I would change is the name on the back of the jersey you can see maybe make it a little more covered up or darker to hide the name. overall I really like the idea the letter styling and the holographic look in of the background player looks awesome. 9/10

Welcome back readers, this week is a big one as after 180+ games in his VHL career our favourite big guy Jared “The Buff Bull” Carter has scored his first career goal. This comes as no surprise to anyone here. Jared has been putting up some great numbers this season so far and we all knew it was only a matter of time till he got the first goal of his career. We all here congratulate him on this milestone in his career and hope he got that game puck for the mantle.

After a strong season last year on the back end with the Riga reign JAred made the unusual decision in the offseason to work on his offensive skill and ultimately made the choice to move to a center position for this season. Without a doubt a decision I'm sure he's not regretting right now. His first goal wasn’t just a goal either it was the game winner for his team, I caught up with jared after the game a got a quick interview with him; he was ecstatic to comment on his first VHL career goal and said “You know I’ve been working real hard this offseason on my offensive skills and it is nice to see all the work I put in during training camp and practice paying off.”, he also commented “Don't think that’s my last one either boys, I’ve found the net once now it will be more natural”. Surely a great moment for our favourite tough guy.

You could tell by how his teammates reacted to the goal that they all were extremely excited for Jared to put one home for the first time. I’m sure there was quite a bit of razzing in the locker room for this veteran after the goal from some of the rookie players on the Reign this year as most have gotten that first goal out of the way already this season. But nonetheless Jared Carter has cemented himself as a fan favourite in the Riga Reign fans hearts as not only is he fearless when it comes to playing for his team and blocking shots, but he will put points up in the goal column as well.

In other news that has shocked everyone here and I’m sure has shocked some Riga fans around the league Jared Carter's talents will be heading to a new division and a new team after he was traded this morning to the Toronto Legion. The details of the trade haven’t been announced at this time but we have heard from Jared himself that he is currently on his way to meet up with his new squad for their next game. I personally think this was a steal of a trade made by Toronto's GM @Peace to get Jared just as he's finding his strides as a forward this season. It will be great to see what Carter’s addition to the Legion will do for this team during the remainder of season 79 in the VHL.

Singing off here till next week, stay frosty my friends.

    1. Please welcome our new GM @16z! What do you think of the moves made by the Lynx in the draft, and if you're new, what do you want to accomplish in Ottawa?:

I think the moves made during the draft were great and I want to bring a championship home to Ottawa.

    2. Congrats to all the players who recently got drafted! What do you think of the team, the city, and the people you met there? If you have not yet been drafted, any preference? North America or Europe? Any specific team?:

It was super cool im excited that Calgary drafted me.

    3. What would you rather, potentially: a captain's vote or picked by management?:

Picked By management for sure they have seen who can lead this team.

    4. How far do we go this season? How many points do you hit individually, or for Parise, what do you hope your stats will be?:

I hope my stats are solid id like a high .8 to .9 save percentage and a few shutouts.

    5. NHL Expansion Draft is tomorrow! Any guesses as to who gets drafted by Seattle? Do they take Carey Price?:

I think youll see seattle go with a younger goalie behind a more veteran front end.

    6. Best song of all time?:

    the never ending song.

    7. For the newer players, what's your favorite NHL team? Favorite player? Or, if you don't watch the league, any other leagues/sports that interest you:

Joker_TM got a reaction from diacope in S79 VHL Entry Draft Excitement For Young Goaltender
S79 VHL Entry Draft Excitement For Young Goaltender:

As we all sat down on Sunday July, 18th, 2021 for the VHL Entry Draft no one knew what would come for the hopeful players looking to get drafted to the VHL. As everyone had expected Papa Emeritus went 1st Overall in the draft and a huge congratulations goes out to him from everyone here. Our story today however is about an unexpected draftee who came into the VHLM late in S78 and made waves with his play in only 8 games going 6-1-1, Alex Parise now playing for the Ottawa Lynx of the VHLM.

Alex had very little time to show his talent this past season but wasted no time with his opportunities between the pipes. He showed he can be a solid go to between the pipes. His play in the short time he had last season impressed quite a few teams in the VHLM, one of which was the Ottawa Lynx which drafted him 16th overall in the VHLM Dispersion Draft. We reached out to Mr. Parise for a comment and he said “I’m excited to be going to Ottawa, I see a lot of potential with the team and management ”.

What no one expected to come out of today was Alex being drafted 21st overall in the VHL Entry Draft to the Calgary Wranglers. Simply an amazing outcome for this young talented goaltender, I can assure you everyone here was ecstatic when we heard the news that teams in the VHL had seen his potential and decided to draft him. We could see in this young man's face that he was excited to hear his name called at the draft and especially to a team like the Wranglers. We reached out for a comment but Alex was busy calling family and friends letting them know the news.

What will become of this young VHL hopeful, we foresee another season in the VHLM with the Ottawa Lynx at least before we see him between the pipes in the VHL. However, like this young Goaltender has already done he could surprise everyone at training camp and earn himself a spot on the starting roster backing up Calgary’s Carter Bellamy. Alex has shown that he shouldn’t be underestimated in his ability to show what he’s capable of accomplishing when under pressure. Only time will show what this young man is made of and if he has what it takes to make it into the VHL.

To summarize this young goaltender’s drafting to the Calgary Wranglers, It is a very exciting day for Mr. Parise. However his work has only just begun to make it to the big leagues, He has to show he has what it takes to perform at the VHL level day in and day out. We here are all excited to follow Alex’s career and see where it takes him and just how far he is able to go. Hopefully his career is full of good times and he is able to complete his wish of bringing a championship home to Calgary and Ottawa.
