  1. "So Armani how has your career been going?" Damon asked as he drank a soft drink that Armani has given him on the back deck of his house "Well" Armani started to say "I started out as a waiver pickup with the Philadelphia Reapers in the VHLM, then I was drafted into the Ottawa Lynx and played for a while there, and then was traded back to the Reapers where we unfortunately failed to win a title. After that I was drafted into the Vasteras Iron Eagles and the Toronto Legion and I won the first ever VHLE title with the Eagles, played a while with the Legion, had a bit of a mental breakdown with worrying about my baby bou getting sick affecting my play, and now I am back to form." "Wow Armani that is a lot" Damon chuckled "all I have done is work as a chef in a seafood restaurant in Maine where I met Sasha and we eventually agreed to move back here because we got sick of life by the sea." He took a swig of the coke he had "that and after a long time of making seafood we got really tired of eating fish" "I don't blame you, however I do not think I will ever get sick of poutine no matter how much I eat it" the two friends then share a laugh before going inside to get dinner.
  2. Back when Armani Calamari was a young kid playing peewee hockey, he had met another kid named Damon Johnson who played youth soccer. The two of them had an odd sort of rivalry where while they did not feel any actual animosity towards one another, they did try to one up another several times. This led to Armani's first ever injury on the ice, where while Damon was watching he tried to body check a larger kid but ended up getting his leg sandwiched between two large kids, making it break. While it was luckily not a really serious injury, he would need to stay in the hospital for a while and Damon felt awful about it. A few years after that, they would start to grow apart and eventually Damon moved to Portland Maine with his parents which did make Armani pretty sad. However life kept going on for Armani and years later he is now one of the stars of the Toronto Legion VHL team but has not completely forgotten about Damon. One day, he was taking out the trash on a rare off day from playing in the regular season when he noticed a moving van helping to move in a familiar looking man into a previously unoccupied house. Extremely curious, he headed to the new house to greet his new neighbors if nothing else. "Umm hello" he said to a dark skinned woman who the wife of the man moving in "my name is Armani Calamari. Welcome into the neighborhood! Ever lived in Toronto before?" "Oh that name is actually interesting. It almost rhymes. My name is Sasha Johnson, and yeah I have never lived in Toronto but I have visited it a few times" "Oh you'll love it here, a lot of the people here are extremely friendly." "So not all of the people then?" Sasha smirked "Heh well you know how people are" Armani shrugs "anyways yeah my parents really loved Italian names and thought that the name just rolled off the tounge pretty well" as the two of them talked, the man came up to the both of them "Wait are you Armani Calamari?" The man says as he got closer "Umm yeah do you know me from the VHL- hey wait are you Damon? Damon Johnson?!" The two old friends immediately get into a big hug "I haven't seen you in years my guy!" "I know man we have a lot of catching up to do, and did you say VHL?" Armani nods, vand Damon begins laughing "man I guess you were not lying when you said you were gonna be a big hockey player someday." "Hey you said you were gonna be a soccer star, what happened there?" "Ehh I settled down after high school. I don't regret it obviously, and I still occasionally play some semi-pro soccer. I moved back to my home town so I can get back to Canada" "I completely understand that, and I will have to introduce you to my wife and small son. They would be happy to meet you!" "Alright my man" Damon said as he began to follow Armani to his house "lead the way"
  3. 36 points away from 200 points in my VHL career

  4. 1. @BeketovI wish you the best and hope that you can get through this 2. They represent the heart of the city and the strength of the players 3. I am extremely proud of how much of a turnaround the season is for Armani compared to last season 4. The hedt kind of build is one that works best for the kind of player you want to be 5. I am not going to comment much because I am not in a position to, but I wish him luck 6. I don't know enough about any of them to make an accurate assessment of thier abilities or to make a mock draft.
  5. Armani Calamari has finally decided to take up a hobby in between hockey practe and games, and that is starting to write various novels and an autobiography. His novels are inspired by post-apocalyptic settings like fallout and other various universes like that and his first one is about a man who wakes up from cryogenic sleep that lasted for 500 years to a world that has mostly been reduced to desert beyond a few communities trying thier best to rebuild society in thier various ways. He got inspired to start writing by telling various stories to some of his teammates on the way to games or in the locker room and having them tell him to write his stuff down for later. In terms of his autobiography, it is mostly about his early life and hockey career all the way up to him being called up to the Toronto Legion. He has found out that writing is a great way for him to start relaxing and not have to worry about his troubles when he is on the team plane or bus. He has already gotten into contact with a very reliable publisher who is very interested to publish his books, so he is very excited for that. However for now, his main focus will be on winning hockey games and he will just do writing on the side.
  6. Armani Calamari was born in a small town just outside of Toronto Ontario Canada, and as such has spent most of his life near or in the city of Toronto. This is one of the reasons why he wants to stay in Toronto for the reminder of his career and retire there, and I would not want it any other way for him. There are some amazing people in the Toronto Legion locker room, and I really want to help deliver the cup that we all deserve to Toronto. However during my brief absence due to some mental issues, the meta changed and I was honestly slow to adapt. Armani's stats suffered as a result, and he put up the worst numbers somce his waiver year in Philadelphia in the M. It wasn't until the tail end of the season that I was finally fed up and did a reroll with the help of my GM, so if your stats are suffering in this new Era of skater builds then do not be afraid to ask for help. A reroll might save your career overall, as Armani's stats have increased in a big way since then. This is a big reason why I am so loyal to Tornado right now: my GM Doomsday. He took over for Peace and has proven to be quite a worthy successor, leading us to a sweep of the Calgary Dragons and two games away from the cup finals. Now the Legion is currently on top of the league, but I know that things can change on a dime in hockey and in life. I mean one wrong step on the ice and you let that goal in, and one wrong swipe of the stick and your goal does not quite get in. As much as American football is a game of inches I'd argue that Hockey is a game of positioning. One man in the right position with the right shot can change the entire narrative of a game and a season. It just takes a few seconds to go from a surefire loss to starting a furious comeback. On the flip side of that, it only takes a few seconds to begin the process of blowing a lead. That is Hockey folks, and that is life in general as well. I know that I am ripping a lot of this from Any Given Sunday amd just changing it to give it a Hockey context, but honestly that is one of the best speeches ever and deserves it. I guess I just love Toronto because it is a band of great users that have come together to all wear the blue and lighter blue. Armani went through some hardships with his newborn som getting sick, but has healed mentally and physically. He us ready to help Toronto in anyway he can, because I'd argue he is one of the hearts and souls of the Toronto Legion. Disappointment and suffering is a part of life unfortunately, and there are always people that are worse off then you. However, it is how you respond to that pain and loss that will define you as a person. Well I am not gonna run from pain anymore, and I will get stronger from it. Legion Together, Toronto Forever!
  7. 1. That he was awesome for us on the Legion and that I wish the best for him 2. Ryuji Sakamoto because I really love Persona 3. The Whole Bears team because they beat us in the playoffs 4. I am extremely excited to see what he can do going forward 5. I really did not want a Tampa Bay threepeat so I am extremely happy Colorado won 6. Usually ether pork ribs or chicken wings
  8. The season is starting soon and the Toronto Legion could not be more excited. Armani Calamari especially has been counting down the days until it starts, spending his most recent days going to practice and team meetings along with admiring the new bobblehead made of him. In fact each member of the Toronto Legion including the rookies like Ryuji Sakamoto have gotten bobbleheads made of them thanks to a partnership with a bobblehead company that the Legion have recently gotten. Each of the bobbleheads had facts about the players on the back that talked about where they have come from and thier past accomplishments. Speaking of Ryuji, Armani has tried his best to be a bit of a mentor to rookies like him. The biggest thing he has told them was how to deal with the pain of losing and how to keep thier cool in defeat. He is satisfied with how the rookies are growing and is trying his best to improve himself and his game. He does believe that he will be a hell of a lot more productive then he was at the beginning of last season. With the new style of playing that he started to towards the end of last season payed off hugely last season and he hopes to continue the momentum going forward.
  9. Well the Toronto Legion season ended not with a bang, but with an unfortunate sort of whimper. Being eliminated by the Seattle Bears in the Conference finals was extremely disappointing, but honestly I don't feel very sad about it right now. Despite the ending, the past season still gives me hope about the future. Armani Calamari went from getting no stats and being a general burden on the team before the reroll (seriously before then he had one of the worst shot percentages in the league, though a lot of his goals were game-winning goals so there is that) to actually being a contributing factor in games after the reroll. The new hybrid builds were a huge learning experience for not just the Legion, but the entire league. If you are getting basically no stats for the team despite your TPE count, maybe try getting a reroll build and see how having a more focused build will work out for you. Get your GM to suggest a specific build for you, because the new Hybrid builds thrive on having certain specific attributes be very high depending on what position you are in. Maybe we can prevent some kind of new dead puck Era? Anyways, I hope you enjoyed reading this and I hope to see you all on the ice!
  10. "...and Armani Calamari shoots to the goal... SCORE!! TORONTO SWEEPS CALGARY IN OVERTIME!" The TV announcer yells as the fans in Toronto go nuts as Armani punches thier ticket to the Conference Finals. Armani gets a group hug from his teammates as they all celebrate the sweep. After the eventual traditional handshakes from both of the teams to each other, Armani is interviewed by the on-ice reporter: "Armani after coming back from such tough times and getting back to a good mental state, getting this goal must have felt amazing after the slump you were having. Tell me what this moment means to you!" "Well Sara" Armani began to say as he wiped away a tear of his "getting the winning goal here in this game does a lot for my confidence. I was worried that I would never get back to the level that I was at so long ago, however slowly but surely I feel like am getting back to where I was when I was a hot star. I am glad that these wonderful fans here in Toronto have come to come along with me and the rest of the team oh this journey, and it is not over yet! Let's go Legion!"
  11. The Toronto Legion are heading into the playoffs with high hopes. Having the second seed, they are hoping for a pretty deep playoff run and a possible Cup run. The new sim hybrid builds have been a mixed bag so fat, and even my player Armani Calamari was basically one of the worst shooters and seemed to be a bit of a liability until I managed to get a reroll that has upped his production by quite a bit. Right now it seems that in order to get the best out of the hybrid builds you need to really have a build in mind, with some stats needing to be in the 70s and 80s to actually make them work out. It has been a lot of 1-1 sims for the Legion, but they were helped out a lot by a bunch of 2-0 sims early in the regular season. Honestly despite the way the standings look I have no idea how these playoffs will play out. The Seattle Bears should be a strong team, and the Legion's first opponent the Calgary Wranglers should provide a tough first opponent. However despite all of that, I do have a lot of faith in the Legion and am really hoping for a deep run this season.
  12. Armani skated across the ice as he goes to attempt another practice slapshot. With the playoffs coming in hot for the Legion and what looks to be a very tight series against the Calgary Wranglers coming up, Armani wants to work his ass off for the Legion so they can make a big run to the cup. His new kind of practice that he's been doing has been paying off in a big way, and he has been improving his production in quite a big way. "Good shot Armani" the Toronto Legion coach says as Armani scores with his practice shot "You are slowly but surely getting back to your old self" "Thanks coach" Armani smiles "just doing my best for the team. I know that I was letting them down with how bad I was shooting before I changed things up ." "Ehh don't let that get you down, the title of "one of the worst shooters in the league" just meant that you needed to go by things in a different way. You came back from a hiatus, and I could tell that you just weren't really feeling it for the longest time. However, now you just seem to be playing like a new man." "Heh, thanks for the confidence boost. So let's set up another shot, I need more to truly feel it tonight" They went to go set up the practice goal again, with the Legion goalie watching Armani get yet another shot by him. The goalie flashed a thumbs up and then prepared for yet another shot that just barely gets past him again. "There now I am definitely feeling it! Let's go!" When practice us eventually ended by the coach, Armani went back into his car as he called his wife up "Hey Tiffany baby, how is little Ryan doing?"he asks her as she chuckles from the other line "He is doing wonderful honey" she giggles "he is keeping down all the food I give him, and he just seems extremely happy as of late. I tried to get him to walk to me and he tried his best, but he just doesn't seem ready yet" "Well don't force him to walk, he will get there eventually." Armani smiles "I will be home soon, just gonna get some dinner. What do you feel like eating?" "Hmmmm, well pizza does sound good" Tiffany smiles "maybe some meat lovers, I really feel like eating some protein" "Yeah I'll get me a supreme pizza. Like I said, I'll be home soon so I love you" Armani then calls up a pizza place amd puts in his order a few minutes before pulling up to it. As he waited on his pizza, a Legion fan nervously comes up to him holding a jersey with his name on it "Umm Armani can I get your autograph?" The young fan asks "Absolutely!" Armani smiles as he signs it with a marker he keeps with him "I better not see this on Ebay for at least a few years though, alright?" The kid nods "on this is one of my rookie jerseys, that's pretty cool" "Yeah it is! I actually got the jersey today from my uncle who got it a few years ago" The kid says as Armani hands him the jersey back "Umm Armani can you promise that the Legion will best the Wranglers?" "I can't promise anything. Nothing in life is guaranteed, that's what I learned recently. But I do promise to do my absolute best to win" Armani smiled as he rubbed the head of the young fan. For him, moments like these make it all worth it.
  13. Armani Calamari has had a tough time in life before he came back to hockey. Between the birth of his first son who caught a bad flu as a baby but thankfully survived and his creeping depression throughout the whole process he has had to slowly but surely get his mojo back. He has decided that one thing can help him find a purpose beyond hockey: starting a charity! He has started the Armani Calamari Center for Mental Health of Athletes, which his wife convinced him to shorten to the Center of Athletic Mental Health, or the CAMH. He has decided to split time between hockey and working on the charity center in order to keep his mind busy. In other news for Armani, he has focused on some new training techniques in order to get back to competing at the same level as his teammates. And by that, I mean that I ended up giving him a reroll. Yeah I needed to do that because it was clear that his build is not cutting it, and I had my GM give me one that is not as completely haphazard. Hopefully with this new build I can slowly get back up thier with stats. I already gave a goal with it!
  14. I'm getting a reroll so hopefully this change
  15. It seems like recently the Toronto Legion have been riding a wave of momentum. They have had seven straight wins with a few blowouts in there as well with thier current record being 20-7-2. However, while the Legion have been soaring, Armani Calamari has been struggling a bit to keep up with his teammates and is mostly a good role-player so far. While I personally would rather see the Legion succeed then get a lot of personal success, it is still a bit disappointing. Still, the Legion should be riding cozy all the way to a second seed in the playoffs, provided the Seattle Bears don't start struggling. In other news, the DC Dragons and the Chicago Phoenix have been fighting for that second seed with them both being 14-14 and the Phoenix having one overtime loss. The New York Americans are behind them both at 10-16 and the Vancouver Wolves ate behind them at 10-17. Calgary and LA fill out the last two spots at eight wins each. The other conference is a bit more of a bloodbath with the Moscow Menace having 23 wins and the Riga Regin having 22. However the Regin have an unfortunate four overtime losses that might hold them back from the first seed. This season is definitely going to be interesting going forward.
  16. The start of the new hybrid skaters TPE system has not been too kind to my player Armani Calamari so far, who appears to be in a bit of a slump. So far on the young season, he only has one assist amd no goal for a grand total of one single point. The Toronto Legion as a whole are struggling to deal with the shift in TPE amd the hybrid rerolls, with usu suffering some embarrassing losses early on. Armani Calamari has been quoted as saying: "It's been a bit frustrating trying to get back to the shape that I was at before. It just seems like goalies are the ones who are benefiting the most from the new system, which I will not complain about personally. However,I have heard some grumbling from a few skaters, but honestly we are just going to have to get over it in the end. We will survive the new system and then some new top teams will emerge from it. Just hoping that the Legion end up being one of them." The Legion will be looking to rebound after an embarrassing loss against Seattle, amd will be hoping to get better as time goes on. This is WildfireMicro signing out.
  17. It's safe to say this has been a crazy offseason for not just the Toronto Legion, but the league as a whole. With the necessary death of the Meta after the three straight titles for the Vancouver Wolves, we have had an extremely long offseason to adjust to the changes. However it seems that Toronto will be in a position to compete for the cup as they only lost to the Seattle Bears in the preseason, who they traded wins with. They also shut-out the Wolves with a 1-0 victory. Armani has had a decent preseason, with at least two assists and a goal. Armani is not looking for personal glory however, and is hoping to be able to be a good piece in what looks like a competitive team this season. We all know that the preseason does not really mean much, but hopefully for us in the Toronto Legion it means some good things for us as the regular season starts tomorrow.
  18. When Ryuji gets to Toronto Armani will show him around
  19. Armani slapped another shot to the goal, and it barely makes it in as he wipes the sweat from his forehead. "You'd think that the cold of the ice would help you not sweat, but apparently not" Armani said to the coach "I still have work to do, before everything happened I'd make that goal dead center" "Yeah you just need to keep training" Coach says as Armani goes to slap another shot "your body is getting used to training again. A year off will make you sloppy, so training is the key." "Yeah that is what dad says to me a lot" Armani smiles as he manages to hit the shot dead center "there, now that is an amazing shot' "Ehh it could be better" the coach smirks "don't give yourself too much credit, or you will get complacent." "Yeah I know. I am not getting complacent in any way shape or form, and I know I am a long way away from what I used to be. It will be an long road for me, but I am ready to help bring a cup to Toronto." "Now that is what I like to hear! Now take five, you must be starving" Armani nods as he skated out of the rink to grab some lunch.
  20. Hope everyone enjoyed thier weekend and enjoys thier Sunday! We got 10 days until the season starts

  21. "I mean he was such a good prospect and he just up and disappeared!" "Mental health is an important thing, perhaps one of the most important things on life overall to me." "I do not disagree with you in any way shape or forn, but still it is just a mysterious disappearance! One day he was there, the next he was gone! Where in the world did Armani Calamari go?" A man sighs as he turns off the TV in the Legion locker room and goes to put on practice gear. He starts firing off slapshots when one of the security team goes to stop him. "Hey buddy you are hitting those shots well, but maybe you should tryout for a spot on the team before you do any of that..." The man turns around and removes his helmet, and the Guard eyes go up in recognition "wait a minute they said that you went missing, and now you are here. Well I am glad you came back but...where did you go?" "I went on a bit of a mental health break" the long hair man known as Armani Calamari smiles as he stretches a bit and skates over to the security guard "I know I have a lot to catch up on, but I hope the new Toronto GM is ready for me to talk to him. Tell him Armani is ready to tear up the league again"
