  3. With the rich history of the active original VHLM teams summarized last week, it is time to do the same with the original franchises no longer a part of the VHLM. While all of these these clubs met with a tragic fate, these fallen franchises have left a amazing legacy the has and will continue to shape the future of this crazy league for many seasons to come. The time has come for a review of the history of the inactive oiginal VHLM teams. Of these four collapsed clubs, two started in Sweden, one was from The States and one lived in Canada. Starting in Sweden, there was the Jönköping Warriors. They would be the first European VHLM team to relocate, moving is the opposite direction their rivals, the Gothenburg Eagles, would take. Home was found just over the border in Kolari, Finland. They also would be the first teams to take up the Wolves branding, but only for the first five seasons in their new home. Afterwards they club rebranded to their most memorable identity, the Panthers. However, unlike their rivals now called the Oslo Storm, things in Kolari didn't work out. A desperate move to Turku to become the Outlaws in S34 couldn't stop the inevitable. After S42 The Tuku Outlaws were folded along with another team to mentioned later. The brand discarded in Kolari would be accepted in Vancouver about thirty seasons later. Vasteras' VHLM team has a complicated legacy. Sure they are the longest surviving original VHLM team but for most of their existence in the shadows of the bigger VHL club. In S37 they would become something new. They became the Moscow Red Wolves. Both name and brand would have significant impact of future of the VHL. The team eventually dissolve after fourteen seasons in Russia. Moscow would be awarded an expansion VHL franchise fourteen seasons later. Where Vasteras' VHL team inspired two VHLE clubs, the minor club gifted the Red Wolves branding to a VHLE franchise in Istanbul that is now folded as well, leaving behind a uncertain legacy. Mini Minot is now an easy place to find. Yet this North Dakota town hosted an original VHLM franchise. They were known as the Gladiators. Aside from a random relocation to New York State to become the Syracuse Wolfpack for five seasons before returning back home to ND, the Minot Gladiators would be a rooted franchise until being killed off along with the Kolari Panthers in the first double folding in league history after S42. The Gladiators branding would be rightfully picked up by Rome, Italy's VHLE club., leaving Minot back to being mostly forgotten. Brampton, Ontario is the minor league equivalent of Quebec City. They can't keep a team either in real life or in simulations. The VHLM story begins the a team resembling the at the time OHL club, the Brampton Battalion. They would rebranded is S24 to the Brampton Blades, possibly resembling a different CHL team. The ax would finally fall on the Blades after S53 when they along with the expansion Bratislava Watchmen cease operations. With the Mississauga Steelheads relocating to Brampton this comming season, there is hope that the city's luck can change at long last. Indeed, these toppled teams have done great work in inspiring the future. With both cities and brands now in the VHL or VHLE, these original HLM teams continue to have a living legacy long after their gone. And who says the can't effect things in the future that we are unable to see yet. There is always a chance that the rich history of the crazy league can change and influence the future. Just have to wait and see.

  6. S80 in Ottawa. What great memories.
  7. There is much good in talking about things past. Living history can be past down to the next generation. The past can explain the present and shape the future. Great knowledge can be found in the past. This is what I am doing today. I will take my dear readers on a journey past S62 and the birth of the modern VHLM to uncover a very different league where teams could be placed in Europe and copyright infringement was the name of the game for this young league. It is time to introduce the ancient, orginal VHLM. Of the eight original VHLM franchises, only three remain active in the VHLM today and they all have experience change. Of these teams, the Ottawa Lynx have changed the least. They only rebranded from the Ice Dogs in S34, making the Ice Dogs the second longest surviving original brand and the Lynx the second oldest active team. The oldest active VHLM team, surprisingly enough, comes from the shortest surviving original team. The Fresno Bulls would only make it to S8 before moving to Buffalo to become the Junior Bears which is unprecedented because the Seattle Bears were in no way affiliated with the Buffalo team, as far as I know. This franchise would move after S16 north to Canada and become the longest active VHLM team, the Saskatoon Wild. The other original active VHLM franchise started life in Toledo, Spain and was known as the Scorpions. The end of S16 would also see the Toledo Scorpions moved to Switzerland to become the Bern Royals, where they would become one of the longest standing clubs of the European VHLM. They would remain within Europe until S53 before which most of the European VHLM had folded. They would relocate to America to become the Las Vegas Aces where they hang their hat today. There is one other original VHLM team that is active although not as a VHLM member. This franchise started in Gothenburg and were simply known as the Eagles. Not wanting to live within a very crowded Sweden, they would move after S18 to a city they would become most associated with, Oslo, Norway. Original known as the Screaming Seamen for the first few seasons in Oslo, they would pick up the now iconic Storm branding in S24. They would surviving within Europe longer than any other VHLM team. They would very reluctantly move to Minnesota in S65, thus finally killing off the last vestige of the old VHLM. The State of Hockey would serve as a appropriate summer home for the Storm for fifteen seasons before returning home to Oslo as part of the second season expansion of the VHLE, where they remain today. And that is the story of the four active original VHLM franchises. Some of the ancient brands were picked up by newer, modern teams. With the locations of these old franchise homes being more than available for expansion by both VHLM and VHLE, it is more that possible for the legacy of these teams to continue into the future for a long time to come. Next time, it is time for the story of the four original VHLM franchises that did not survive to be told. Stay cool, My friends!

  15. I know this isn't the media spot you are expecting from me after a couple weeks break. I will finish that series some time soon. Today I will discuss the significance changes for both me personally and for my character. Time moves quickly and I feel to need to record all of these changes lest I forget something meaningful. So stories of this offseason both nonfiction and fiction will be told, starting with the biggest IRL change. Being the AGM of the Halifax 21st was great. Writing meaningful questions for the press conferences was always a joy and I loved helping new players get started on their VHL journeys. I really wanted to help bring a long overdue Founder's Cup to Halifax, but it was not ment to be. @LucyXpher wanted to select her own AGM and I was thinking about rising through the ranks. So I was selected to be the AGM of the Stockholm Vikings. @Doomsday and I help set an amazing VHLE Draft and I do believe that this team will contend for the Renaissance Cup this coming season. The VHLE has always been good to me as a storyteller. Wither it was crazy antics or just travel blogs, I haven't run out of tales to tell in the VHLE. That should continue now as management over team rather than a player. Speaking of my player, Shubham Anand has had significance changes as well. After having a career season, the pending free agent could have likely gone anywhere. But he was committed to seeing the Riga Reign return as winners, even if it ment welcoming new GM @Lemorse7. To better fit with the new system brought into the team, a change in position was nessary. He would be moving from the wing to center. With much strength training and the loss of most of his passing touch he is now ready to lead from the center position. In his personal life Shubham has been even busier. There is the birth of Shubham's and Mina's first child, Abhay Anand earlier this offseason. Mina still fully intends to complete in swimming for India in Paris Olympics, with Shubham and baby Abhay in the stands supporting her. Meanwhile Shubham has also been rising in the business world, becoming the CEO of Dick's Sporting Goods International, a subsidiary designed to expand the brand all across Western Europe. This resulted in Shubham traveling to the grand opening of these new stores both as a speech giving businessman and an autograph signing athlete. This insanely busy schedule has caused Shubham to pass the leadership of the BAJIH over to Arūnas Serapin. His adopted daughter Valerija, is currently making a name for herself as a skilled prospect as a defender who has done some babysitting for the Anand's. Given the girls rough past, some have questioned this decision, but the couple haven't replied to the criticism, so they do seem bothered by have girl with a checkered past helping the couple adapt to their new way of life. Time moves quickly and in the busyness of everyday life it is good relax and reflect on the changes the new seasons bring in. For both author and his written figure significance changes to there lives have come. But with these changes, new opportunities arise to have a positive impact on this community and the world at large. As long as we take every opportunity we are given, we will live satisfying lives no matter what happens. This ending has straied too far from being about anything relevant to hockey so I will let you go. Keep you stick on the ice.
