  5. Review: I am no gfx expert by no means. I like this signature very much, it has a simplicity to it which appeals to me. I love how you put the fonts in colours which are reflected on the Jersey and since I was a geography nerd in school I particularly like the background as it reminds me of heightlines (don't know the English term) on maps. The critique I have is that the render looks a bit blurry and the graphic has a little void on the stage left lower corner, but may be this was a design choice. Really solid work imo 8/10

  8. There is settlement in need of your help. I marked its location on your map.
  9. no I meant to as a punishment, because clearly these lads asked me for money for the poke-checking lessons and did not give you a dime for your hard work, therefore they kept it. So I volunteered them for any community work available in Mississauga and then some...
  10. that sounds like certain someones just volunteered for a lot of community work...
  11. maybe a prescription visor helps him hitting the puck more often (or the net for that matter)?

  14. Graphic courtesy of Leandrofg (Marcel's stats/Daniel's stats) The VHL/E trains are rolling and we will catch up on the matches played since we last reported from our local Hockey Heroes. Please find below our summaries for your reading pleasure. 1-0 What must have been a wet dream for any defensive fanatic, the Istanbul Redwolves bested the Vasteras Iron Eagles in a 1-0 match. The game winner was scored by AL, whose retirement allegedly was imminent for the last three seasons, in a power play. Young (43 saves), Jute (36 saves) and AL (1g/0a) were nominated for the three stars. Obviously Jute (.973) had no chance to win the duel against Young and his shutout, despite a stellar performance of his own. Vasteras' power play was weak (0/5) and the box play was not really bad (3/4), the fact that the only goal of the game was scored in a man disadvantage leaves a stain. Marcel had 0g, 0a, +0, 1 hits and 4sb to his name. 3-2 (OT) Vasteras quickly recovered from their heartbreak loss against the Red Wolves and beat the Cologne Express 3-2. The first period came and went with neither team finding the back of the net. It was Cologne who broke the spell with two back to back within six seconds, the first of which was on a power play. The Eagles, not to be outscored tied the game with markers by their star left wing on even strength and Mathias on a man advantage. The third period was a carbon copy of the first, at least scorewise. Which meant it was time for the sudden death. After 39 seconds into the OT, Maple delivered the dagger when he converted an overflow roughing penalty for roughing. The three stars were awarded to Leb (1g/1a), Greg (1g/1a) and Mathias (1g/1a). Freeze (.906) and Jute (.931) had a showdown on a decent level, with the edge for the 'Berlin Wall'. Vasteras' powerplay was strong with two markers on five attempts, whereas the box play was more than decent with five of six attempts by Cologne killed off. Marcel was logged with 0g, 0a, -1 and 2sb. 2-1 In an entertaining match, the Iron Eagles beat the Romans 2-1. Vasteras started with the netting when Young succeeded on the 2:15 minute mark. However, before the first frame came to an end, Rome tied the game. In the second period it was Bridgers who scored for the Swedes and afterwards both teams shut the door. Rome tried desperately to score the equalizer and pulled their netminder, but to no avail. Jute (34 saves), Dragon (47 saves) and Adolfsen (1g/0a) were given the post match honours. Jute (.971) and Dragon (.959) compensated the crowd with their two-men show for the lack of scoring, with the better end for the young German. Vasteras' power play was anemic (0/2) and their penalty kill were up for the job (1/1). Marcel recorded 0g, 0a, +1, 2 hits and 1sb 3-4 (SO) In the last VHLE game we are reporting today, the Eagles bested the Rush in a 4-3 shoot out win. Vasteras was on the board first with a power play marker of Mathias. Geneva was able to even the score before the first break though. In the second frame Cat and Young scored for the Swedes with only one goal scored by the Swiss. Geneva tied the game with the sole goal in the third period. Since the overtime did not bring a winner, the teams had to ressort to penalty shots to crown a winner. Young was the only one who met success with his attempt and brought the win for Vasteras. The three stars of the night were awarded to Mathias (1g/2a), Young (1g/2a) and Cat (1g/1a). Between the pipes Wallob (.927) had Jute's (.870) number and decided the netminder competition in his favour. Vasteras' power play (1/3) was decent and their penalty kill immaculate (2/2). Marcel was noted with 0g, 0a, -2, 1 hit and 1sb 3-2 (SO) In a game which brought GM Ricer to the brink of a cardiac arrest the Wranglers were victorious over the Hollywood Divas. The reason for Ricer's health problems was the lackadaisical way Calgary fluffed their chances while being sloppy on the back checking. If you top it off with almost getting Vanderlayd you have a recipe for high blood pressure. LA started the proceedings with the only goal in the first period. The Wranglers countered with two consecutive goals by Tessier and Reinhart to take the lead. With less than three minutes to play in the third, the Stars scored again. It was time for the sudden death which was indecisive. So it was pistols at dawn between the skaters and the goalkeepers. Janser was the only one to convert his attempt and to bring the W to Calgary. Rust, Reinhart and Vandelay were named the three stars of the evening. Dahl (.923) had a good night but was no match for Vanderlay (.952) who carried his kicking and screaming team into OT and SO, where Dahl proved to anticipate better than the first over all pick of the S84 draft. Calgary's power play was excellent (1/2) and the penalty kill flawless (6/6). Daniel had 0g, 0a, -1, 2 PIM (Slashing, no effect on the score), 3 hits and 77.78FO% 1-4 Calgary faced the Vancouver Wolves in a 4-1 win. Jokinen scored the only goal in the first period. No goals were scored in the second frame. Six seconds after the face-off for the third period, Daniel scored for the Wranglers. Kotkakoivu wins the draw, passes the disk to Jokinen. The American carries the biscuit into the Wolves' zone and passes to Janser. The Swiss does not lose any time and immediately releases a wristshot right into the crossbar. The first minute of the final frame is not over when Wolanin contributes to the score. Vancouver pulls one back, before Wolanin reinstates the three goal lead for the final score. The podium was awash with Wranglers with Wolanin (2g/0a), Jokinen (1g/2a) and Janser (1g/2a) being elected the three best players. Dahl (.957) bested Fuhr (.907) in the crease by quite a margin. Calgary's power play was a no show (0/2) but the penalty kill was spotless (3/3). Daniel had 1g, 2a, +3, 2 PIM (Holding, no effect on the score board), 3 hits and 71.43% efficiency from the hashmarks to his name. The Jansers' stats up to now: Marcel: 10gp, 0g, 3a, 3pts, -3, 15 PIM, 11 hits, 18sb Daniel: 8gp, 6g, 6a, 12pts, +0, 10 PIM, 26 hits, 3sb, 2gwg, 1ppg, 56.67FO%, 1 first star award Stay tuned for further updates in due course. https://vhlforum.com/topic/122032-a-tale-of-two-brothers-boulevard-of-broken-dreams/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/122431-a-tale-of-two-brothers-off-season-off-duty/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/122542-a-tale-of-two-brothers-offseason-progress/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/122969-a-tale-of-two-brothers-ad-victoriam/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/123401-a-tale-of-two-brothers-a-new-start/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/123450-a-tale-of-two-brothers-get-it-rollin/ GM 29: Istanbul Red Wolves vs. Vasteras Iron Eagles (vhlportal.com) GM 32: Vasteras Iron Eagles vs. Cologne Express (vhlportal.com) GM 34: Vasteras Iron Eagles vs. Rome Gladiators (vhlportal.com) GM 39: Geneva Rush vs. Vasteras Iron Eagles (vhlportal.com) GM 50: Calgary Wranglers vs. Los Angeles Stars (vhlportal.com) GM 58: Vancouver Wolves vs. Calgary Wranglers (vhlportal.com) uncapped package 4/5

  21. Graphic courtesy of Leandrofg (Marcel's stats/Daniel's stats) The season for our Rotkreuz natives is rolling along nicely with Vasteras sitting on second place in the VHLE and Calgary with a 4-2-0 record fifth in a strong NA conference. Let's dive into the game summaries without further ado. 2-3 The Iron Eagles met the Express in a game that was only tight on the scoreboard. Vasteras dominated the Cologne franchise with 52-20 shots, but struggled to find the back of the net in their 3-2 win. It took them until the dying minute of the first frame to score in the shape of Young for a 1-0 lead going into the second. Ze Germans were able to reply and tied the game in the second period 1-1. In the third period, Cologne went ahead for the first time in this match, but Bridgers with two power play markers delivered the dagger and took the win for their team. Mathias (0g/3a), Bridgers (2g/0a) and Protagonist (49 saves) were elected in the three stars. Jute (.900) showed a solid performance, but because Protagonist (.942) stood on their head, the former lost the showdown in the crease. Vasteras' powerplay (2/9) was okay-ish, while the penalty kill (2/2) was spot less. Marcel was noted with 0g, 0a, -2, 2 hits and 1sb. 1-3 While Vasteras dodged a bullet and managed to win the previous game despite their lack of coldblooded killerinstinct in front of the net, they were not as lucky against their eternal rivals, Stockholm. The Vikings sealed the deal within eight minutes in the first period, when they scored three consecutive goals, the last one on a man advantage. Plenty of time to come back from a deficit one would think. However, it took the Eagles until the eleventh minute in the third to score first. Maple found the back of the net for his colours. After their goal, there was just not enough time left to even the score, let alone win the match. The three stars were awarded to Clark (38 saves), Martinez (1g/1a) and Duk (1g/0a). Jute's (.921) performance was nothing to sneeze at, but Clark's (.974) stellar night overshadowed young German one's. Vasteras' power play was a no-show (0/1) but the penalty kill was solid (6/7). Marcel had 0g, 0a, -1, 3 hits and 4sb to his name. 3-4 Calgary has sworn revenge for their ignominious defeat at the hands of the Titan. Not the least Jokinen who had a score to settle against his for employer and entered the match with quite some fire in his belly. The Wranglers come hot out of the gate and the game was not even two minutes old, when Gonçalves, assisted by Jokinen, converted a power play to draw first blood. Helsinki came back not long after the young Wrangler's goal with a shorthanded marker by former Calgary player Nasherov. The set back did not last long as Janser scored at the 5:40 mark on even strength, with Jokinen getting an other helper. Jokinen entered the Helsinki zone with speed and passed back to GoodBrandSun who relayed the disc to Janser, who roofed it backhand over Booberry's blocker. This was against last season's Slobodzian, Shaw and Clegane recipient, none less. Jokinen on a man advantage with his first of the season and Wolanin, with an other assist of the American on a mission. That was the first period. For the remainder of the game Calgary focused on the defensive side of things and Pearce in the second frame and Nasherov in the final period used the space so given and scored one goal each to make it a one goal game. Jokinen (1g/3a), Nasherov (2g/0a) and Janser (1g/1a) were given the honours post match. Dahl (.885) had one of his weaker nights and was beaten by Booberry (.915) between the pipes. Calgary's box play was immaculate, while the power play was a mixed bag with a good conversion rate of 2/7 but a goal scored against as well. Daniel left the ice with 1g, 1a, +1, 4 hits and 40.00FO% (he probably got too much into the winger mentality, filling this role in this match) 3-4 The next match was against the New York Americans which the Wranglers narrowly defeated with 4-3. Tessier with his first of the season was the sole goal scorer of the first period. The Americans equalized shortly after restart in the second but Reinhart with his first marker for the Wranglers reinstalled the one goal lead. This did not last, though as the New Yorkers scored another two goal to go ahead for the first time in this game. Gonçalves and Janser saved the day with their two unanswered goals to bring the full points home. GoodBrandSun intercepted a pass and saucered the biscuit to Janser who one-timed it via the post into the net. Tessier (1g/2a), Reinhart (1g/1a) and Wilk (1g/1a) were named three stars of the night. Kennedy (.897) had the upperhand against Dahl (.889) in a rather underwhelming goaler duel. Calgary's power play was not up to scratch (0/2) but the penalty kill made up for it (5/5). Daniel ended the game with 1g, 0a, -1, 3 hits and 75.00% success rate at the hashmark. 4-5 The Wranglers clashed with the reigning champions Seattle Bears in a match where the teams met eye to eye, with slight advantages for the Canadian team (49-41 shots). Alas, the Bears are not champions for nothing and so the game ended with the slightest of margins with a 5-4 defeat for the Albertan franchise. The first period saw the two teams scoring a brace each, with Janser and Reinhart finding the back of the net for the Wranglers. Both markers were scored on a man advantage. This is how Daniel's goal came to pass: Reinhart and Maloish missed the net with their shots and Janser was first on the loose puck his first attempt was parried by Wilson but the Swiss was persistent and buried his own rebound to cut the Bears' lead in half. In the second frame, Seattle scored twice against Jokinen's sole goal for Calgary. The third period ended 1-1 with Kotkakoivu bagging a goal for his team. The tree stars awards went to Torq (1g/1a), Petrenko (2g/0a) and Meridius (1g/1a). Dahl (.878) was not able to carry his team against a better Wilson (.918). Calgary's power play was decent (2/7) while the penalty kill was abysmal (2/4). Daniel had 1g, 2a, +0, 2 PIM (Hooking, did not result in a goal), 1 hit and 64.29FO%. Our correspondent Jean-Luc Lieuxperroux was able to get a hold on Daniel after the Seattle match and was granted a short interview: JLL: 'Hi Daniel, thanks for the quick interview. Some say, that Kotkakoivu is tanking and that he cannot live up to the hype around his person due to the motherlode of awards he received.' DJ: 'I do not think that this is a fair assessment, Jean-Luc. At the moment our captain is dealing with an upper body injury which does not even allow him to tie his skates. And yet he is out there every night, every shift and sacrifices his body for us with a teamleading 26 hits and does nothing half-assed. Under the circumstances, I think that eight points in six games is an amazing haul and if we top it off with a positive rating, it is nothing short of a miracle. His lateral movements are limited, and hence he cannot pull off some of the dekes the fans came to love. It is now for us as his team mates and friends to pick up the slack and fight for him as he does for us. The Wranglers do not care who scores the goals, we lose and win as a unit. Don't get me wrong, we celebrate every goal scored because we know it is one of the best feelings known to mankind. But it does not matter who scores, whether it is a young prospect like Gonçalves, Wolanin or Maloish or if it is a grizzled veteran like Reinhart or Jokinen. We stand and fall united, this is the Wranglers' way.' JLL: 'Thanks Daniel for this insight and good luck for the season as well as speedy recovery to Saku.' DJ: 'Thanks Jean-Luc and I will gladly pass your best wishes on.' Here are the Janser's stats for the season so far: Marcel: 6gp, 0g, 3a, 3pts, -1, 15 PIM, 7 hits, 10sb Daniel: 6gp, 5g, 4a, 9pts, -2, 6 PIM, 20hits, 3sb, 1gwg, 1ppg, 54.48FO%, 1 first star https://vhlforum.com/topic/121774-a-tale-of-two-brothers-quiet-in-calgary/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/122032-a-tale-of-two-brothers-boulevard-of-broken-dreams/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/122431-a-tale-of-two-brothers-off-season-off-duty/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/122542-a-tale-of-two-brothers-offseason-progress/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/122969-a-tale-of-two-brothers-ad-victoriam/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/123401-a-tale-of-two-brothers-a-new-start/ GM 20: Cologne Express vs. Vasteras Iron Eagles (vhlportal.com) GM 23: Vasteras Iron Eagles vs. Stockholm Vikings (vhlportal.com) GM 25: Helsinki Titans vs. Calgary Wranglers (vhlportal.com) GM 38: New York Americans vs. Calgary Wranglers (vhlportal.com) GM 46: Calgary Wranglers vs. Seattle Bears (vhlportal.com) 1400+ words
