  3. 1. How are you enjoying your player’s experience in the VHLM? What positives and negatives have you experienced? This current players experience has been pretty good winning a cup and all. Overall the M is a very special place where new members find their way around the league. I think that this leads to some of more active GMs in the league ready and willing to help. 2. What team do you play for? What is your favourite thing about your team? I play for Halifax currently. My favorite part of playing for this team is it is the next cursed franchise I'll pay a visit to after visiting NYA and LDN last career. 3. If you could add a team to the VHLM, where would this team be located and what would their mascot be? Gotta go with my hometown. Chattanooga. As for mascots the city already has the Lookouts (named after a mountain), Mocs (short for Mockingbird and Moccasin Bend a part of the river nearby, and the Red Wolves. I think the best name still remaining is the Choo Choos 4. How is your player’s performance this season? Underperforming to your standards? Over performing? Season yet to begin but he underperformed in the off-season tourneys. 5. What team do you want to be drafted to in the VHL? If you don’t have a preference, what would you want your future VHL GM to know about you? I don't have any preference. My only preference is that they don't scout me. 6. Tell me your dream vacation! I’ve always wanted to visit Hawaii, something an island in the middle of nowhere makes me happy. I have been wanting to go to Australia for a very long time.
  4. I'll get a picked player list later tonight for you guys
  5. Everybody knows the Pope in our world, but in an alternate timeline, the Pope didn't become the most influential Catholic. The Pope we know joined the Victory Hockey League. At a massive 5 foot 7 inches, the monster of a man simply imposes himself on the ice. The ice of course is very well known to freeze often in the frigid average low temperature in the heat of the July winter of 37 degrees Fahrenheit. There simply isn't a person you would expect to become an infamous hockey defenseman that this character. Born in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina Pope Francis otherwise known as Jorge Mario Bergoglio to Italian immigrants. In this timeline, the Pope would not have pursued a career in religion, but instead pursued a career in sports. Growing up in Argentina the Pope spent his free time as a young kid playing Soccer with neighborhood kids where he mastered footwork and the ability to control his body. In Buenos Aires, the Confederación Argentina de Hockey has a major team. This league doesn't play ice hockey but instead plays the cheaper and more expected sport of field hockey. Interested in this sport, the young Pope played and found out about a sport popular in North America they simply call Hockey, but known in Argentina as Ice Hockey. His parents were kind enough to spend money on a set of ice hockey gear and a season pass to the nearest ice rink. Here Pope Francis learned the basics of ice hockey and would earn his title... The Defender of the Fai- Net. The Pope was incredibly balanced on his feet and was not afraid of getting in front of a puck and would become the best defenseman of his generation to come out of his country. The Pope has worked on one single skill throughout his training to be a top-tier hockey player, and that is the ability to be the pylon. He has truly embraced the pylon and will stand in front of any shooter no matter their shot strength. This has led to him having a legacy coming out of Argentine ice hockey and I would expect him to push this play style into the VHL as much as he can. In Argentina, Pope Francis would not light up the scorecard unless you were looking at shot blocks. Of course, the Pope was able to break out, but he was much more content with being a pylon rather than scoring a lot of points. This playstyle did not limit him however as he also was able to impose his massive 5’7’’ frame laying some large hits throughout his career in the Argentine youth leagues. However, it is very difficult to become a top-tier hockey talent playing in lower-level hockey nations like Argentina. It isn’t impossible, but you will be limited by the level of play you are facing. It isn’t a surprise then that throughout his time playing youth hockey he traveled the hockey world playing other youth players from Stockholm to Moscow to even Edmonton. This experience led to him growing as a player, but also as a person learning how to speak English, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Latin, and French. This ability gave him the ability to work with foreign players which most youth players simply don’t have coming out of the United States or Canada. I would expect this diverse language-speaking ability to come out in his play as he will excel with anyone whose native language is any of those languages. When the Pope decided it was time to come to America to play in the VHLM the Ottawa Lynx will ready and willing to offer him a contract in what would become his first professional season of hockey. The Pope would come out of the gates swinging or more accurately standing in place in front of pucks going toward the net. While he blocked an outstanding 36 shots in only 17 games in his first games in the VHLM. When playoffs came, the Pope didn’t slow down blocking the exact same 36 shots in 17 playoff games. However, the main critique of the Pope as he was entering the VHLM was that he would be a one-trick pony being exceptional on defense while not being very helpful on the offensive side. This however has proven to not be as bad as predicted while he scored 18 points in his 34 games at the professional level. Of course, it is hard to understate that Pope Francis was likely a part of the team that pushed a good Ottawa squad over the edge to become the inevitable Founder’s Cup Champions. What lies ahead for the Pope is unknown but it can only be good based on how his first few games playing professionally went.
  6. 1. Dil created one of the best locker room environments I have seen in the VHL. I am certain jacob will do a great job maintaining that environment. 2. Charisma. If you don't have the charisma to at least hold a conversation with anyone on your team you will have a bad locker room and people won't want to even play for you or even worse leave the league. 3. Jesse Teno is obviously an important of the team now and in the future. I think trading them could really harm the team competitively in the future. 4. I hope jacob doesn't change anything if that locker room is the same if I ever become a FA in the VHL I would sign with London immediately. 5. The child since he is currently GMing his father. 6. It is possible, but in reality you can have the best team out there but if STHS doesn't like you you won't carry that cup.
  7. So over the past week, we have completed the GM carousel and I believe the choices made were the best all of the commies had in front of them. I do wish @jacobcarson877 the best of luck going into his time in London. If I wouldn't have retired the perennial disappointment Yun Chiang I would be playing under you. I think there is some promise with that London squad, but a few problems could be fixed and I do wonder if I was in London this season if you would have traded me with my forced retirement coming rapidly. Frostbeard being a VHL GM was going to happen it just depended on when it was going to happen. Taking over that DC team could be rougher than picking up the London squad, but I expect DC to get back into the deeper rounds of playoffs very soon. Yun Chiang is officially dead after whimpering out in what was a really sad career. I am very hopeful for what I believe could be a very good career out of Pope Francis it is only whether or not lord Simon smiles upon me after I leave the E/M. I maxed earned so far, but this isn't likely to last my entire time leading to at one point Queefson taking over the TPE lead at some point. I do have a biography to still write which I believe @twists has already done, but in reality, I expect as I get busier going into the summer I will miss two or three TPE a week fairly often. The real question is which build will be selected to be first in the defenseman or even whether we will see a forward go 1OA. The future can only tell what the team that gets 1OA for S89 will need. I also am a bit worried about the future in Miami. I am going to have to convince a player leaving Miami this season in FA to come back. I am also struggling with the fact that the positional needs Miami needs aren't as singular as it has been in past seasons and we need everything going into this upcoming season. In past seasons, I had my defensive or offensive core going into the draft which meant I was able to pick a standout and pick like 4 in the late rounds hoping to get a draft steal. This however did not happen this season as I am going into the season with no late-round draft picks from the previous rounds season. I do think this has mostly to do with the fact that the draft last season was a bit weaker than they have been in the past. I think the team will be fine and make playoffs, but the chances of Miami sneaking some playoff rounds is looking a bit unlikely way in advance of the season or the draft occurring. Of course, anything can change with just one big draft pick so the hope is never gone. words: 504
  8. im in full agreement give me a warning point sam
  9. 2nd with the tiebreaker. Also I wouldn't really say we have been up and down. I think our team has been the same level every season it's just whether or not more or less teams are competing heavily
  10. 1. Disappointing but not surprised. This team wasn't going to be great just yet but had the chance to be solid. 2. Replacing Chiang and finding a long term solution in defense. 3. Nothing comes to mind immediately. 4. Chiang is dead unfortunately so Pope Francis will be doing everything new. 5. Calgary. I really like a lot of people involved with that team. 6. I would like to GM in the bigs at some point. Not sure if that time is now, but I would like to do it eventually. I am enjoying being an M GM a lot right now.
  11. With the creation of Pope Francis season 2 has begun. Just random thoughts about the VHL. Nobody mentioned. https://anchor.fm/nurx/episodes/nurxs-fantastic-podcast-Season-2-Ep--1-e20agfa

  15. The VHLM playoffs are upon us and with that the best time of the season. When the sims come out everyone is stressed, but by the end of the month, we will only have one team remaining. Will it be the Houston Bulls strengthened by Merome Dilson or the Mexico City Kings who got off to one of the hottest VHLM starts of all time? Only Simon knows and he refuses to tell his secrets so we can only guess what could happen. Without further delay let’s get right into predicting the S87 VHLM Playoffs. 1. Mexico City Kings 8. Las Vegas Aces A rivalry that we wish we could have seen every playoff just a few short seasons ago, but this season the Kings are a significantly better team. They made up nearly every roster spot for the Western Conferences All-Star roster and if that team would be selected today they could very likely hold the majority again. This team has firepower that scares the people who care for the nets while also having a very strong goalie protecting their net. This team is a force and it will be difficult for any team to beat them let alone a struggling Las Vegas team. Las Vegas won only 26 games during the regular season just above two times the amount required to win the cup from this time forward. Could they increase their win total by 50%? Yes. I wouldn’t count on it though as in nearly every position they are outgunned. 2. Ottawa Lynx 7. Halifax 21st Halifax has one major strength this season and that is their top-tier goalie, but they, unfortunately, run up against the only other goalie in the conversation for the Devereux Trophy @Elman Diablo. Ottawa has some of the best forwards in the league backed up by the defense and allowed the least amount of goals in the league. It is hard to get a goal against this Ottawa squad. If Halifax wants to win their defense needs to step up and stop Ottawa’s first line. If they do that they have a good chance to beat this Ottawa squad, but that is harder done than said. If Ottawa is able to simply perform to their standard it will be hard for Halifax to get any momentum against this Ottawa team. 3. Miami Marauders 6. San Diego Marlins Miami has an interesting goalie tandem with two capable netminders, but their strength lies with just how deep their forward core goes. Swinsola @Swinsola is in the conversation for league MVP while there are teams in the playoffs who are fielding a worse 1st line than Miami is fielding 3rd line. This team can score a lot of goals in a game, but they have been completely stopped occasionally. If San Diego wants to win this series their best opportunity is to stop that offensive core. Goalie wise both of these teams struggle with Miami having a tandem of similarly skilled tendies. The battle will be an offensive one and it will be led by the stars of each team. Overall, San Diego is a strong team, but Miami simply is a deeper team offensively, so it will be difficult for the Marlins to find a foothold against this offensively-minded squad. 4. Houston Bulls 5. Mississauga Hounds This Houston team is by far the most underrated team in the league. They have a ridiculous squad on offense with a crazy good goalie. You can’t win as many games in a row as Houston did without being a very good squad. It is rare you see a 4 seed and thinks to yourself, “I think this team really could be the favorites,” but this season we are thinking this. There aren’t any positions where Mississauga really matches up well, but the best matchup is defensively where both teams let a similar amount of shots during the season. If there is any opportunity for Mississauga to pull off the upset it is going to be for Jonny Elgar @Jonny to pull off some stolen games. Predictions First Round Mexico City 4 Las Vegas 1 Ottawa Lynx 4 Halifax 0 Miami Marauders 4 San Diego Marlins 2 Houston Bulls 4 Mississauga Hounds 0 Semi-Finals Mexico City 2 Houston Bulls 4 Ottawa Lynx 3 Miami Marauders 4 Finals Houston Bulls 4 Miami Marauders 1
