I'm already on nice setting.  Sandro has some sort of animal that likes to crawl up his ass and control his mouth.  There is some sort of Pavlovian response whenever I post things that erupts out of his cakehole which turns him into pure asshole mode.  Not sure what it is.

I only brought up Canucks fans because I know it'll get his panties all twisted and it's fun to see him squirm.

Let's get all serious here for a moment.  The world is full of people who have different opinions.  I don't care if you have a different opinion.  It's totally fine by me.  I'm a little rough around the edges, just like many other people around here.  I don't pussyfoot around pretending to all sweet and kind.  We're a bunch of guys hanging out and chatting about things and sometimes we use terms that wouldn't make it on the evening news.  You want to say stupid crap, go for it, it's no skin off my back.

However, if you want to call me a douchebag (which he did) then you can have it back at you in full force.  Sandro.  Fuck off.

True enough.  Not hilarious for them.  I just found the image of her flying around the continent saying "You're fired" to groups of people to be funny, though in reality it's not.

I can play defense next year for sure if you want.  Only problem is the extra points I have put into faceoffs. Sort of wasted points right?

Since I claimed that any robot takeover (if and when it happens) would not come at a time when you would expect it, and you just now wrote an article about it happening, we must then logically conclude that either I was wrong (and it could happen when you expect it), or that you are wrong (and it's not happening right now because this is a time when you would expect it).

I suggest reading old copies of Watchtower Magazine to try and figure out which one of us is telling the truth.

Merry Christmas* and of course Happy Festivus*. You are entitled to a free doubles week if you believe you were a good behaving member of the league this year.

Curls of smoke wafted around the android's expertly manufactured head as he sat in his Chevy Volt outside of the arena.  E-Cigarettes had become the Robot Detective's latest bad habit to pick up just for fun.  Knowing that the toxic fumes from the sticks had no effect on his mechanical body made the action a little funny in his positronic brain and at times a whirring sound emanated from within his chest as he laughed in the creepy way he was designed to.

Reaching up, the Net Detective scrubbed the front window that was slowly fogging up in front of him to give him a good view of the mark's position.  The man he had hired had no idea that he was bait in an elaborate, and ultimately fatal, game of cat and mouse.  He had just left the arena with Mikaelson, as requested, and things looked to be getting somewhat heated.  The VHL player said a few words to him, and then, as expected, he carried out his deed.

Billions of circuits exploded with interest and activity as the Net Detective leaned forwrad, watching the last moments of yet another man's life.  A low humming sound whined as his eyes narrowed slightly; the artificial lenses zooming in to catch as many details as possible of the murder.

The way Mikaelson drank the other man's blood was of particular interest to the machine, and he stored the visuals away in a folder for later viewing.  This would make seven now.  Seven mortals who foud themselves victims to this strange creature that was not fully human, and yet not machine.

As Mikaelson made his way back into the arena, the Net Detective started up his vehicle via Bluetooth and the Driverless vehicle quietly pulled away.  He looked forward to his next viewing.

    Time to Settle the Dispute

For years the SHL and the VHL have waged simulated war on one another.  Though real blood has not been spilled, there have been many tears, mounds of teenage angst, and hundreds of keyboards damaged in Mountain Dew fueled rages as articles are spasmed into existence at the various message boards the leagues operate on.

This is no ordinary war.  It is a cold war.  A war which can only be decided on the greatest battlefield known to simulated man.  The Simulated Hockey Arena!

It is no secret that there has always been some tension between the SHL and the VHL, and while it's generally low key and friendly, there's no doubt that both sides would love to finally demonstrate their true greatness in some fashion.  Well now the time has come to make it happen.  The STHS Player League Summit Series has been proposed.

    What Is This Madness?

In 1972 the two greatest hockey powers in the world, Canada and Russia, sought to assert their dominance during the Cold War.  The Summit Series was born and the result was a series of ankle-breaking, Henderson-scoring, Ruskie-dangling, Espo-ranting, and Eagleson-fuming games that will live on forever in the memories of hockey fans forever.

The STHS Player League Summit Series is an opportunity to recreate those memorable moments, but to do it with the two greatest Player Sim Leagues on the planet.  The idea would be to create two rosters full of the best of the best from both leagues, and put them in an eight game series for the ages.

The first four games would be played using the SHL settings, and the second, using the VHL settings.  The first team to win 5 games, or in the case of a 4-4 Series tie, the team with the best goal differential, will be crowned the greatest of all time (or in the case of the losing team, all memory of the activity will be wiped from the league consciousness).

    How Would it Work?

Obviously both leagues have different point caps and different setups, so there would need to be some tweaks made to the format, as well as to the player setups, to make it fair for both sides.

For starters, both rosters would need to have players with the same capped level of TPE, to prevent a mismatch from occuring.  Since the SHL uses more stats, it would also be important to both allow for VHL players to have additional stats when playing by the SHL rules, and for SHL players to have those extra stats removed, when playing by the VHL rules.  Keeping the TPE caps the same would be a challenge in this case, but it's not an obstacle that is impossible to overcome.

Next, the leagues would need to commit to a certain standardized set of settings to be used by each league.  The first four games would be setup according to the standard SHL settings, and the final four according to the standard VHL settings.  This would provide the closest example of 'home ice advantage' as we could really make in the sim.

Furthermore, Injuries should be cranked up in the sim on both ends.  A bloody hell-fest is exactly what the real Summit Series was, and that's what we need to recreate here. No replacing injured players when Turd Ferguson comes along and breaks your femur with a two-handed chop to the leg.

Would This be as Awesome as it Sounds?

This would be better than you can imagine.  Picture the best players in the past 20+ seasons in the SHL lining up against the top players from 40+ seasons in the VHL.  Clutch goals, brutal fights, ESPN-worthy injuries - the series would have it all.

Each game could be setup with a podcast, featuring players from both leagues, and videos that bring trashtalk and speeches to rally up the fanbases for each side.  This would be something talked about until the heat death of the Universe.

Let's make this happen folks.  This needs to happen.  SimonT himself wants this to happen.  There can be only one!

These are good questions but merely a matter of making a decision on it and then firing away. None of them are really obstacles.

For the SHL games you could set a slightly higher cap, but give the VHL players a bump in the extra stats that they don't have normally.  Remember, the idea behind this isn't to "actually" determine which set of players is better (they are in different leagues, so it's not possible), but to create a fun event where bragging rights and trashtalk could happen!
