Now we have a new solution for when the sims don't go our way. Ask to have the color changed, because that obviously impacts the outcomes of the sims. Too bad about the Purple not actually being purple.

Don't forget you have The Board Goon Clue on Skates on your roster. That thing has been known to drop the mitts. Rumors also have it that it's been replacing all of its cardboard components with hardboard components in preparation for absolutely murdering the opposition come post-season. We also have to keep in mind that because it is a board game, it doesn't actually have a head. Experts have agreed that this does significantly lower the risk of head injuries, which means BGCS should be amped up on Clue Glue™ and ready to go with any of its 6 potentially lethal weapons! Go #TeamClue!

I disagree!

Oh, so kinda along the same lines as that STHS failsafe of the backup goalie getting a SV% boost after the starter is pulled? The game is trying to stop itself from outputting stupid results, so it dynamically pulls back on scoring as the scores inflate? That makes it make more sense then. I mean from a game design perspective it's lazy and horrible, but those are the two favourite words of hockey sim devs. So I don't doubt it's true.

Considering the NHL already fixed this with sliding contracts. It wouldn't exactly require much more than straight up stealing their rule to fix it either.

Was the punishment by any chance connected to mysterious disappearances of blues? As someone who really likes AJ I hope he bounces back from this sooner rather than later. He's been great to me as a new member and the LV LR experience has been one of the biggest bright spots of my time in the league so far.

Usually higher shot count tends to correlate with better shot quality as well. At least over a whole season. On a game by game basis you obviously have the games where the team just decides to shoot from everywhere. But if your team is consistently allowing the most shots in the league, that's a bad D. Bad D gives up grade A chances *cough* Buffalo *cough*. But that assumes the engine actually makes sense, so it's a pretty big leap. As for the low shots = harder to get good stats. Anyone who ever played Goalie in BAP or anything of the sorts knows that you have those games with like 15 shots against, and 5 of them are near impossible cross-crease passes = enjoy your .667. But since STHS shot totals at the VHL level are on the thicc side of things. I'd call it a fair to say it's probably not having that big an impact on season stats. Though theoretically when taken to extremes it's obviously still a thing. Yeah, but does the relative SB% change? Naturally the total amount of shot blocks goes up with Dzone time. Just like total saves would. But I don't see how that translates to the % being different? But based on your wealth of experience I'm guessing a trend along the same lines even for SV% is a thing that's been found to be true in practice over the seasons?

Okay, apparently my brain has just given up and started to sail off into the sunset at this point. It was bound to happen eventually.

Oh yeah. A 6 for informative on one right? Or is my memory so FUBAR I can't even remember that right? Remember there was one podcast (but can't remember which, thanks memory) that gave an informative POV on something that I didn't know/hadn't considered.

That is interesting. Either people are too kind. Or people really, really loved @JardyB10spending 15 minutes making COC jokes and @thadthrasher"peeing". Which to be fair, seems to be something people round these parts would enjoy. I can't recall if I gave any 6s at all. Probably not, since that's not something I usually would do. Nothing is perfect after all.

The problem is that for a reasonable portion of people, if they didn't do this then they would be left with no opinions at all. Forming informed opinions that you are able to coherently argue for, isn't necessarily something everyone can do. If everyone could, then everyone would have had an A in Social studies (or w/e it's actually called in English, I only know the Swedish equivalent). But most people don't, so clinging onto stuff that sounds good is kind of all that remains at that point. Because we all just want to feel like part of the tribe, as that's just human nature. So we just pick an opinion that helps us feel that connection. Because realistically the people who have informed enough opinions to even question you about WHY you have that opinion are rare enough that it's very unlikely you ever get called out on it. Because they would need to not just say you are wrong, but provide a substantial burden of proof to show why you are wrong. And really who has the energy for that on your average Monday morning? This very much ties into the above, as a lot of the time we just don't have the energy to fully break down a situation, consider all sides and flesh out that informed opinion (or the ability to do so). There's nothing wrong with that inherently, as long as you don't try and force that unfinished opinion onto others as fact. Obviously it's fine to share it, so long as you do so within the framing of "this is what I think, why am I wrong?" Because that leads to healthy discussion that may help you finalize that informed opinion. But a lot of the time you won't actually realize your opinion isn't warranted. Or at least not logically sound, and then you'll often default to "I'm right, you're wrong. Let's yell at each other a bit!" at which points you're basically forcing people to pick sides in an argument instead of actually exploring their own opinions. That's not helping anyone. Note that I'm not using "you" to mean you specifically @GustavMattias. Just people in general. I think we're all quite aware at this point of who have/haven't been doing the above over the last few days. There's a reason I've had my lowest forum participation since joining over that period. It's because unless you want to read "hard hitting" articles about multis, talk shit about people you barely know or just spread more salt than the average League player. Then there has been nothing to interact with. At that point I'd rather spend most my time in the Las Vegas LR trying to teach dylan Swedish. We're making decent progress, thanks for asking!

You call that "a bit"? (Edit: Okay after reading on about the Ice time change it makes more sense) I mean that's not really how SV% works. If anything the fact that he has no defense in front of him makes it even more impressive that his SV% is somehow elite. Comparing goalies to skaters will always be highly subjective though, as they arguably shouldn't be compared in the first place.

Hey, at least @JardyB10didn't win every single category. That's gotta count for something? Someone's gotta make all your poor podcasters feel loved and appreciated! (Except @JardyB10 he already feels way too loved and appreciated as is) @Berocka Out of curiosity, how many 1s and 6s were given out? Without naming any names.
-
Yeah, it's kinda scary. When people don't update in Vegas, they just kinda go on a "meeting" with @MubbleFubblesat the Clue manor. Then either they just start updating, or they just disappear mysteriously. Probably just a coincidence.

The VHL Goalie Dilemma: Team by Team
Shindigs replied to CowboyinAmerica's topic in Archived Media Spots
Those are quite a few bleak futures. Thankfully this draft looks kinda stacked on goalies at the top though. Just please don't pick @N0HBDY1st overall. Can you even imagine how insufferable he would become as a double 1st overall? We'd never hear the end of it! Though since he is a #TeamClue member we would appreciate the PR boost! -
Thicc, even.
-
In news literally no one expected: Miami does stuff and goes 2-0. Having a literal god as our new 1st line RW probably helped with that.
-
IDK, maybe you were too busy signing with our main competitor? You traitor! But yeah I'd identify it as bullshit, if I had to pick one.
-
Well, this is unfortunate.

MiniFubbles Ep. 1 - The Big Multi Question Answered!

I mean if you somehow got that televised with Mia Khalifa as the host and called it "Salmon Game" with everyone wearing green jumpsuits, I'm sure it would be a smash hit! -
MiniFubbles Ep. 1 - The Big Multi Question Answered!
Shindigs replied to MubbleFubbles's topic in VHL.com Radio
Credit where credit is due, Mia Khalifa was a good setup for awful puns in press conferences. Searching the PbP for Mia Khalifa and Donald trump over and over did weird things to the various algorithms though. Wanting a show where people slap each other with fish seems like it may get your in trouble for plagiarizing Monty Python though, wouldn't it? -
Hey, now that's not way to speak to your elders! I have to go get my prune juice now. But when I get back you're in big trouble!
-
Yeah, there's a time and place for most colors (except orange apparently). You get surprised sometimes with how good things you don't individually like can look when it's part of the right setup. Personally I'm more for the understated, so just have a matte black minimalist case with 0 lightning except the on button.
-
Honestly, as long as you avoid the unicorn vomit. Everything looks pretty solid. Okay maybe hot pink would be a bit much, unless you feel like unleashing your inner Twitch streamer. So maybe save that for the Zoo Tycoon stream?
-
Yeah it would appear the cooler colors are kind of running away with it. Does sound like Orange would have gone well with the rest of the room though. Also last I checked @Spartanidentifies as an orange, so maybe that impacted the voting.
