two members who are gone since I was last here

@gorlab Come back! -
It seems like the declaration of Odinsson as a veteran is a little premature, yet here it is, three seasons have come and gone since he was drafted by the Helsinki Titans in S76 and started his VHL career. It hasn’t exactly been a smooth journey for the young Norwegian with established hockey pedigree, with the dream of being a one club player shattered by a mix of circumstances that has seen him traded from the Titans to the Toronto Legion and eventually this season to the Calgary Wranglers. Not much was said after his move from the Legion to Calgary, but it is believed that he was and to some extent, still is, disappointed with the way his desire to move to Free Agency was handled by the front office in Toronto. Hoping to test free agency clear of any sense of “repayment” to a team, he finds himself struggling with the decision to either recommit to Calgary or indeed see what another team might offer at this stage of his career. It is rumored that he is strongly considering rejecting an extension from the Wranglers, simply to deny Toronto another second round draft pick that would be triggered by such an extension. Yes, he’s become that petty over the trade by the Legion although it shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone who’s had dealings with his agent in the past. Back to the subject of a “Veteran Presence” though. While Odinsson has been here since S75 when he was selected by the San Diego Marlins in the VHLM draft, it might be argued that he hasn’t offered much to any team that he’s been a part of. Well, not statistically speaking anyway. His season’s best point total is 70 when he was with Toronto in S77 and ever since, he has declined to the point where he wonders if it’s even worth it to try and resurrect his career with a fourth VHL franchise this off-season. While he is now considered a veteran, with enough TPE to make a difference to a roster at some point, will any team even want to add his presence to their locker room and risk the chance to disrupt developing team chemistry among the current playing group? Who knows? It will be a brave GM to take that chance. Off the ice however, Odinsson tries to contribute wherever and whenever he can, as seen when he joined the Legion and subsequently purchased team GFX via his agent for the entire roster, to be used for the next season team lineup announcement. His presence in the locker room is undeniable, but if it’s a positive or negative influence, only rival GM’s and players can answer that question. Odinsson himself thinks that the idea of a veteran player on the roster is a good one. The chance to mentor and guide younger players, discuss tactics, lineups and possible roster moves and trades are all benefits to a team that may need that type of assistance and they are all aspects of the VHL that Gunnar Odinsson is willing to provide if a team thinks that is something they might be interested in. If not, it’s been a short, unsuccessful and obviously frustrating career so far. If it ends now, it’s doubtful anyone would even notice. 500+

1. A heartbreaking playoff loss, how is your player feeling? To be honest, a little disappointed. Calgary played well to get to the playoffs but sadly could not over come the Bears. 2. Would you rather meet your childhood sports idol today or play your sports idol in his or her prime? Probably play against them as it would enable me to see just how amazing they were. 3. Thought on how the team is coming along? Pretty nicely. I think a key addition either prospect or via Free Agency could see them progress further next season. 4. What pieces can the team add in the off-season to make a stronger playoff push? That's for the front office to decide. I'm unsure of exactly where they see the weaknesses in the roster. 5. Will your player be working out in the off-season or taking some time off to relax? Probably relaxing as working out for the past few seasons hasn't exactly produced a good hockey player, has it? 6. Would you rather be tall and slow or short and fast? Sorry. If tall AND fast isn't an option, I'm not playing this game.

I'd just like to thank the entire Bears organisation for their sincerity and best wishes for Calgary during the current playoff series. It shows a lot of class to be humble and not try to play mind games against an unfavored opponent. Always a classy front office, on behalf of the Wranglers, thank you and all the very best to everyone involved in the Seattle Bears.

1. The Wranglers made the playoffs! How is you're player feeling? Pretty good. Although he hasn't contributed much, it's good to see the other Wranglers excited to be in the post season. 2. How do you think we will do against the Bears? Well it's been a solid 2-0 start but you can never count out Seattle. The team must not let off the accelerator. 3. Does your player have any playoff rituals? I'd pray to some kind of god, but let's face it, nothing short of voodoo would be of benefit to Odinsson. 4. What is your current players all-time favorite VHL playoff moment? None. I concentrate on the now, rather then look back at history that I'll probably forget in a months time anyway. 5. What is the key area the Wranglers will have to focus on, in order to win this series? Defense. Shutting down the Bears potent scoring is key to continuing in this seasons playoffs. 6. If we win the first round, who would you rather play? DC or Chicago? Why? I'd rather concentrate on the current series. I'm not going to look like an idiot talking about DC or Chicago, then getting smashed by Seattle instead.

The Rush have officially clinched the top of the VHLM standings for S78! What is your go-to way to celebrate winning the first Prime Minister's cup in 15 seasons? Go absolutely fucking nuts. If I didn't end up in jail overnight, I'd be disappointed. 2. With the regular season about over, who is your personal pick for Team MVP for the season and why? That would require me to pay attention to the VHLM and it's hard enough to keep up with the VHL. Whoever has the most points is how success is usually measured here. 3. Season 2 of the War with San Diego ends in...a tie? With the season series closing in at 4-4, do you have any final remarks for @thadthrasher and his Marlins? Difficult to comment as I have ties to both. Former Marlin and consider several Yukon members as mates so congratulations on a great battle by both teams this season. 4. Looking at the standings, we're guaranteed to face up against Mexico City. What are your predictions for the series? Yukon has got this. MC is a good team but the mighty Rush will put the Kings out of their misery. 5. If you had to pick a single song to listen to for the rest of your life, which would it be? Baby Shark. The "rest of my life" would probably only last 3 hours before I end my suffering tbh. 6. Controversial Opinion of the Week: I absolutely despise the opening day/opening week of a new popular movie that I'm planning to see, and I'll avoid going to see it in theaters for at least 2-3 weeks. The BO and the popcorn crunching all around me, let alone if someone really tall sits in front of me, drives me insane. Agree or disagree? Agree approximately 12000%. I generally hate other people anyway so I'd happily miss the early run of a new movie. It doesn't take much to piss me off.

Good luck to all applicants.

1. What team do you think is the Wranglers biggest rival? Why? I've only just arrived but I'd say Seattle. They just seem like dicks. I've also reserved a special place on my shit list for the Legion.... 2. We have 8 games left and on a 3 game winning streak, do you think we can end the season with no more losses? Hahahaha, good one. Oh, you're serious. Umm, not to be negative but that's a tad optimistic. 3. Which player on the Wranglers do you most look forward to seeing their weekly media spots or graphics? I enjoy Prouts ramblings and Phil's podcast. I'm sure there are other good ones, but I'm not here too often tbh. 4. With the season close to an end, have you reached the goals you set out for your player? If those goals were to be even worse than last season and disappoint, then yes, I've crushed them! 5. Thornton (77), Perry(76) and Su (74) are the top 3 in scoring on the Wranglers, who do you think will finish on top once the season is over? Whoever shares a line with Odinsson because he certainly isn't going to steal their scoring opportunities. 6. Say one thing about your player that your team-mates may not know about them? He is incredibly close to retiring.
