  1. *LISTENER DISCRETION ADVISED* F words. In today's episode, I answer questions from @Phil, including topics around Poopy's career, child discipline, animals, and vacations I guess. I also give a late and half-baked take on @Ricer13's bitching about @Dil and trivia or whatever. I don't know if I really mention either of those people. @Gustav @jacobcarson877 Enjoy!
  2. Fuck Vasteras
  3. I'm not great (read: very bad) at keeping up and supporting your writing, but you're one of the most admirable and impressive people in this community, and even though you've been disappointed with your writing career up to this point, I will always be proud of and impressed with your work!
  4. I was thinking it was half of #2 and all of #4, but seeing all the irrefutable evidence in this thread it's clear to me that #5 is the true truth.
  5. They taste like the way in which an event or course of action is perceived by the public.
  6. Don’t welfare shame! Not everyone can be rich old folks like us.
  7. Sorry I don’t speak Swiss.
  8. Nurx you don’t have to project your inactivity insecurities on this fellow. They may or may not have been referring to you, but even if they were, they were just giving a frank take on how their new member experience was. WHICH, by the way, was technically in 2019, so before your noob ass time. It’s not unreasonable for you and other VHLM’s to have ebbs and flows of activity, and it’s not unreasonable for a member to have a less fulfilling experience during the ebbs. For example, in the EFL, I had a lovely experience with @JetsGoalie101 on the Death Valley Rangers a couple seasons back. However this season with @TheCHEESE behind the wheel, the team is less good and less active and overall has been a less good experience. No doubt there’s reasons for both these things, and I certainly don’t mean to offend or upset a block of cheese, but it is what it is. You win some you lose some.
  9. Welcome Liam, it's rad to have you aboard! How does a seemingly Irish lad find themselves in such a remote place?? I ignorantly assume that nearly anyone north of ~55.15 would have to be indigenous to the area!
  10. If you would have taken the low hanging fruit and went with #FlamingBallz we may have actually gotten to keep him.
  11. Would you expect there to be a contingent of coloured members whose sole purpose is to be friends with first gens? Of course the VHL is designed to make new members feel welcome so that they can stay, that’s the whole point, and that’s certainly not a bad thing. I join the league, I’m made to feel comfortable enough to hang out and do my thing and carve out whatever it is I want to carve out in the league, and I become part of the community. All in the name of recreation and good times. It’s less of a business and more of a non-profit, it’s not like the success of the league is lining anyone’s pocket. Generally, the bigger the community, the more enjoyable it is. Granted, if there was a general feeling of new members feeling like they can’t fit in or that the existing community is too clique-y, that would be a legitimate concern. I personally can’t take Achilles’ concerns seriously even if they were valid due to how unreasonable they’ve been presenting them. There is probably always something that can be done better to help with retention and making people feel welcome, but I think the league as a whole at least has solid bones in doing that.
  12. Claim 2/2 (Week Ending October 23, 2022)
  13. NEW YORK AMERICANS SEMI FINALS PRESS CONFERENCE For Week-Ending of October 23, 2022 1). Who would win the Elmebeck award for New York? Probably @Garsh, because they're a cool guy who doesn't afraid of anything. 2). What statistic surprised you about your player this season? There's a few fun things. Other than goals and +/-, he put up some of the worst statistics in his career/worst since his sophomore season. ALSO, every single one of Poopy's goals came on the PP, though I wouldn't necessarily call that "surprising" (65% of his career goals are from the PP). 3). What is your go-to show when you are heading to bed? I don't watch much tv, never mind before bed. Sometimes I'll watch a Youtube video. That said, my girlfriend falls asleep with some dogshit Discovery+ shows on her iPad, and lately that has been Ghost Adventures. 4). When do you think the first snow will be where you live (mine is tonight) this year? We've had an uncharacteristically warm October, but it won't be long. We could have some piddly overnight snows by this weekend, but I don't think any will stick until November. 5). How many GM jobs in the VHL do you think will be available this off-season? Would you sign up for one? At least one, and absolutely not. I'll prime myself for a S100 return to management, maybe. 6). Do you enjoy your state/province's license plate? If not, what would you change about it? I appreciate the simplicity of our plates, they're just green text, and 6 characters. I don't know if license plates should be all that flashy.
  14. The forum has seem a bump of excitement and activity lately with the suspension of long-time DELIQUENT @jRuutu's suspension expiring, as well as his Turkish brother (though the latter has remained silent since his return). That was not a good sentence, but we're going to move on. Ruutu returned with a splash by releasing the premiere edition of what instantly became a critically acclaimed magazine. The content of the magazine was a mixed bag, containing some logical stretches, but ultimately some valid amount of brain food in a critical piece against the VHL @Moderator team. The piece was in the midst of generating some discussion, potentially enough to begin a revolution in how the VHL is moderated. Unfortunately, the magazine became a flagpole soap box for one of the league's most renowned members, @Achilles, who could perhaps trace their league roots all the way to the S4 VHL Entry Draft. Achilles' outrage and subsequent incoherent and deranged explosion of activity all over the forum and probably Discord quickly took center stage yesterday, and ultimately led to a month-long suspension, one of the longest non-permabans for an allegedly new member we have ever seen. The waters calmed, and the VHL slowly returns now to its status quo. Just like that, Ruutu's newest magazine is left to collect dust on the shelf. Seems convenient, doesn't it? A little too convenient. Much like George W. Bush murdered thousands of his own citizens as an excuse to invade Afghanistan, or how Vladimir Putin invaded Ukraine to make the world forget COVID was a thing, I posit today that the mod team sic'd Alexchilles on that thread in order to create a larger distraction, so that they ultimately did not have to confront the October edition of "Repeat Offender" head on. And the evidence is right in the words of Achilles themselves: "The VHL is run by clicks." Indeed, the mods are a clique, the Discord users are a clique, certain franchises are cliques, and these forum antics gets clicks. The clicks distract you from what's actually going on, and that's that the mods CREATE MASSIVE PROBLEMS to distract the common man/woman/___an from other big problems. Wake up sheeple. #FreeAlexJones #FreeJoeyPizza #FreeAchilles #FreeSpeech #FreeDom #WilliamWallace #BraveheartWasALie #911WasAnInsideJob #BerockaAndBerukuAreObviouslyTheSamePerson
  15. Also for the record in case anyone from the future happens to see this and get confused: The mod team isn't perfect. This is evident by the fact @frescoelmo is allowed to be a moderator. But in the case of 2022's @Achilles v. World, the mods were entirely justified in shutting their nonsense down. Achilles was clearly off the rails and trying to stir up drama, and no amount of their "friends/recruits" sounding more calm and reasonable after the fact should create any kind of illusion that the VHL isn't a place that cares about its new members.
  16. I like the topic title "mods and bads" because it sounds like "Moms and Dads" but it's more topical to the VHL. 10/10
  17. rainbow flavoured unicorns?
  18. I too am an incel.
  19. But it was real Canadian Thanksgiving turkey, so that makes it all the more tragic
  20. I’m just here for Tony’s Salsa
  21. I was going to have a turkey sandwich for lunch today but the turkey was a week old and smelled weird so I had to toss it.
  22. I like to trick people into listening to my podcast by tagging them and barely mentioning them, thank you for falling for it. Here’s what I propose for neutral Mr/Mrs. Ms. is what’s used when you don’t know if a woman is married or not. Mr. is used regardless of marital status for men. Thus, if you’re unsure of gender or marital status, you use “Mrs,” which in this instance isn’t pronounced “missus,” but is instead pronounced “murz.” That way you’re just combining stuff and making up words and titles, which, no shade intended, is a thing the letters+ community loves to do anyway. I’m on board with the Pickles, it reminds me Backyard Baseball team names. That said, if I ever rouse to become a JST GM I’m naming my team the Mighty Melonheads, and we’re going to fuck shit up, just like we did in Backyard Baseball.
  23. Turn it into a vocal podcast you coward!
  24. You would be Chris Farley’s version of Shrek I was thinking about how much I dislike the city of Prince Albert, make it disappear. It would be beautiful landscape with it gone, too!
