Nah I just grew up on a farm in rural Saskatchewan so we didn't have Internet access for some time. We got dial-up for a year or two, then ditched it because it wasn't really worth having (my older brothers hogged it up with their ICQ and whathaveyou). Eventually high-speed made its way to my area so we got it back when I was 14ish probably. At that point I knew ALL the bad words already, so they only had to worry about porn and stuff.

Your issues/confusion with the VHLE is actually a bit of a result of it being implemented without everyone being fully agreed what its purpose is. Is it a clicker haven? Is it pseudo developmental? Overflow? A little column A, B, and C?
