Zylen reacted to jRuutu in "I will end your clothing line"
Ottawa police department confirmed that Jarmo Ruutu was arrested on July 14th for disorderly conduct. Ruutu allegedly tried to destroy advertising of the clothing brand "H&M" in downtown Ottawa. Ruutu was heard loudly screaming: "I will end your clothing line" as he kept throwing various items toward the advertising at a bus stop.

Sources near the scene reported that Jarmo continued his threats by claiming he would call his connections in Moscow, Russia. "One call to my connections in Moscow, Russia, and this clothing brand will never be seen or heard again. I understand H, I understand M, but what is the &? What is that?"

Ruutu's father was present at the scene, he told officers he had never seen his son act so aggressively before. "I have never seen him act like that. I know he is a passionate guy and he likes his fashion, but to throw his shoes and coffee to public property is out of the line. I am disappointed, but at the same time I ask for privacy as we try to find the best possible help for Jarmo."

It is not clear whether Ruutu was under the influence of some substance or whether he was just confused and angry about the logo of H&M.

That sounds like an honest mistake, I doubt many GM's would purposefully release an active player. This is a learning experience for all GM's and I'm sure it'll happen less from now on. From what I'm aware you're a good GM so don't let something this small discourage you.

    Good Afternoon everyone,

So as you guys saw there were two postings to hire a new GM for London and for DC. Please join me in thanking @Dil and @Enorama for their work as GMs of their respective franchises.

So now you're all wondering who it is we've hired as the new GMs.

    Please congratulate

Zylen reacted to Beketov in Forgive my Sentimentality
    Hello everyone,

Not gonna bother with a members tag on this, if you see it then great, you will be rewarded for that. If you don’t then…. Well why am I writing this because if you don’t see it how can you read this part?

Anyway, today marks 5717 days (that’s 15 years, 7 months, and 26 days if you’re curious) since the VHL opened its doors. What a random number you might say, why does that matter? Well if I do the math, and I have, I was born 5717 days before the start of the VHL. Given that I joined on day one and have been here ever since that means today marks the official day that I have been in the VHL just as long as I was outside of it. Is that a stupid thing to celebrate? Probably but that won’t stop me; so please let me indulge in a bit of sentimentality for a moment.

When the VHL started I had not yet completed high school, I had never had a girlfriend, hell I had never kissed a girl. I was a lonely nerd turning to the internet to find something to do; and I found it. The VHL was not my first sim league, wasn’t even the first one I joined ran by the people who ran it, but it was the first that felt different and felt like it had a good chance of surviving which so few at that point had done. I found a community here. I cannot honestly say that everything went perfectly or that my start in the VHL was without fault; I very nearly left for good within 2 months, but I stayed. I have now not only finished high school but university and going on 10 years working post-schooling. I have now not only had a steady relationship but a wife and two children, a life. All the while the VHL has been there, constantly evolving with the times sure but present. Over 5 years ago I took up the mantel of commissioner. I did it not because I thought I was necessarily the best person for the job but because I thought the league needed something, it was in trouble and I didn’t want to see it fail. I like to think that in these 5 years of growth I have at least stalled that failure.

5717 days likely means nothing to any of you, just as that paragraph likely means nothing to any of you, but it means something to me. This league, this place, this community has been a standard in my life for longer than most anything else. I’m not going anywhere right now, that’s not what this is, but I did want to mark the occasion because this league does mean a lot to me.

So if you’ve made it this far feel free to take 5 uncapped TPE for your troubles, on me. I’m not sure the insane total I’ve had over the years (probably over 10k by now) so 5 for everyone that I bored with this story should suffice as a thank you for being my weird extended internet family.

A new era of Marlins hockey is upon us, and to usher us into this new era, we have some wonderful leaders to announce. These players bring their A game every day, and encompass everything it means to be a Marlin. We have a lot to be excited about this season, as we start up games today. With a dominant D core right out the gate, many up and coming forwards, and a wily veteran goaltender, this team looks primed to take on the postseason with force, and work our way into what is hopefully a title defense. Without further ado, here are the wonderful members who we are proud to name our captains.

Our leader on defense, a face we’re thrilled to see around the locker room, and a criminally underrated earner on the forum. Our Assistant Captain:

    Jack Jeckler @Uncommon

A longtime Marlin who preaches the power of balance. A forward with no weaknesses and plenty of strengths, achieved by driven consistency. Our Assistant Captain:

    Ben Dover @Zylen_a.k.a_ぞソしeれ

A longstanding member of our leadership team, and someone who has sacrificed everything to be the best Marlin possible. Our Captain:

    Sjin @Mint

Love this group of people. Love being a champion. I'll miss y'all (some of you I'll see on Cologne), but we'll always have this! This is a special time in my life. I'm glad y'all took a chance on me, I'm glad I put the right foot forward day in day out. An amazing 66 regular season + playoff games, where we all meshed on the ice. I'm so happy to get rewarded like this. I love y'all!

Marlins one day, Marlins everyday. This one is for every Marlins legend that stepped foot in this locker room. I'm leaving San Diego as a champion and bigger than when I arrived. The last 3 seasons were a wild ride but we stayed strong, we fought, we won, we lost but most importantly we were together. Thank you for everything Marlins and i'm proud of the 179 games I spent in the big fish. I enjoyed giving the team those 195 points and those 89 goals. Especially the last one. San Diego is big, San Diego is proud, San Diego will fight, San Diego will rise. Let's go Marlins- Vincent Laroche-Gagnier your (A) and #7

    Champion.

Thank you to all of the players who have put their faith in the Marlins over the years, and have given their all for the team. There has been a lot of heartbreak and disastrous collapses in our past, but now we have something we never had before. A championship. I hope this can be the first step towards building a franchise that continues to grow and expand, developing more VHL stars and attracting more blossoming talent. I hope this is the first step towards establishing our culture of growth, development and ultimately having a great time. Being a Marlin is something to cherish forever, to build into our identities. When you walk into the dressing room for the first time, breathe in the Marlins Legend spirit. Look at the legacy of the players before you, and know that you yourself are already a part of that legacy. Love and support your fellow Marlins Legends, and carry on all of the lessons and values instilled during your time here.

    Go Marlins!
