There is a lot to like about this one! I really like the bubbles/lens refraction effect you have here. A lot of cool things could be done with it. Possibly make everything greyscale while making the bubbles still have color is just one example. The filter you have over all of it ties everything together. My only suggestion would be to possibly add some depth to "Nighthawks" by making a faux highlight across the center of the word. 9/10! I was wondering as well what software you use to make your graphics? Thanks!

This 100%! I joined the league hoping to make a bit of a splash with my graphics and for most of my posts I see a couple reactions and that is it. It felt very odd since the league and it's created players live off things like this yet the engagement on most media posts and graphics are non-existent. Nothing gets highlighted to show what this community can create and the highest traffic posts are inside jokes amoung the longer standing members or topics about banned users. The latter should be buried so it doesn't steal attention from users who are trying to be positive members in the community.

Yeah, I think the more adventurous the better! If everyone just uses the same mold, this will get stale very quickly. It may be counterintuitive making a player without having the goal of them being a superstar but only a small percentage are in that category in the NHL, the rest are role players that fit the teams strategy. I don't imagine ever seeing a sim engine elaborate enough to work that way but we won't know if the league is just McDavids and McDavid wanna bes.

When I joined the site I was happy to see a guide but was also a bit disappointed. Seemed to indicate to me that variety in builds would be minimal and that small differences wouldn't make an impact on the sim. I think a lot of younger users also prioritize scoring. Most would rather score a goal than stop a goal cause it may look better on a score sheet. Applying any defensive attributes would take away from the chance to put up more goals. We can all easily compare where the top goal scorers put their points and copy it but, why? Seems like a boring way to go. I say guides need to be ignored and if my player or yours becomes a stat dump, it just builds the realism of the league. 4th liners are important to a well rounded team and if that is where my player ends up, I hope he is the best 4th liner there is. Bottom of the best is only slightly better than the best of the worst. Put your stats wherever you want and see what happens!

1. A bit disinterested in the VHL and VHLE playoffs. I spent so much time learning the ins and outs of the VHLM that the other leagues fell by the wayside. 2. None of them came true! Lol Waivers can REALLY change the VHLM at any time. Makes it quite exciting! 3. Just being with my wife and my newborn girl! Video games are my way to relax. Next questions! 1. Definitely creates a cycle up and down per position. When I joined I looked at the position count on the create a player page to maybe create a player that was filling a role that was lacking. I didn't know the context of the numbers in regards to leagues so I went with a winger. I don't even know if these have changed since then. Position # D 181 C 163 G 154 RW 144 LW 144 Still says this on the create a player page which might also result in the goalie shortage. *A high-volume of goalies currently exist in the league. Other positions are recommended.

I really like this graphic. It works well as is or could be a great base for whatever team you are on. Possibly a colored logo on the jersey or even just a hue shift added to match your team would work in so many ways and could even be reused. The topographic looking, geometry mesh is a simple and cool touch as well. It draws attention to the name which is also pointing back up to the mesh. 8/10!

1. I am gonna go with Calgary, but it will be a tough one. It is also hard to cheer for anything Calgary when I am an Oilers fan! 2. Like I said, I agree with the statistical assessment but any concern I may have would be how it all looks to someone who hasn't been here before or knows who any of those users are or who their friends are. I am not suggesting any changes to how this works, just a different perspective that a lot of long time VHLers may not recognize or seek out from new users. I'm off as well. To dream away the Oilers loss tonight against Calgary.

To be clear, I am not about conspiracies. Run the league how you want to run the league and if I eventually stop enjoying what I am a part of here, I will leave. I will remain respectful and continue to make friends and improve my player. I can be on every losing team from here on out and I would be fine with it as long as I am having a good time.

This is all well and good stat wise. I am not sure how the recreates stacked up against the bot players on our team but from a new user stand point, the less bots the better it seems, so when a large group all choose a team together and it isn't yours, all it said to me as a new player was that it isn't about what you do with your player or how you interact in the forums, it is about who you know. As a new user, that could be a bit discouraging. All the stats in the world won't change the opt ics or interpretation that a new user might have when seeing long time users team up. If recruitment and retention is the goal of all this then the opt ics are what matter, not the stats. Again, this doesn't bother me. I am here to experience what a sim league is like and to have some fun but I wanted to share what it looked like from my perspective as it may help improve things for others. I agree with you on most of these things. As a new player myself, I don't know who you are or why anyone wouldn't like you but if you are assuming as much you must know why and what you have done or said to cause that. As for the VHLM, I agree but in a different way. I haven't looked into the VHLE much or the VHL as my focus is on the league I am in. After getting swept by the Mexico City Kings this evening, I was quite aware of the discrepancy between teams and recreates signing together. I think the problem is in the mindset of those users and their inability to understand that when they do this, they are slowly killing something they enjoy. Now, it doesn't bother me much cause they are just ruining the experience for themselves and I can ignore the impact on my team. I would like to win a championship in the VHLM but that isn't the main goal and I wouldn't want to win it with a bunch of recreates who planned it out anyways. Boring. I use the VHLM to learn how this site works and to get accustomed to the sims and meet a few people while developing my player. There are certainly some things that could be improved, they just need to be discussed appropriately, but the biggest thing is making those recreate users understand why what they are doing is an issue and how it could drive away new players.

I am a modeler and texture artist by trade. I had a base stadium from a project a long time ago so I finished up and branded it with logos and those banners. I am a bit more than a modeler now but it is always fun to tap into those skills again. This was also completed in and rendered out of the Unreal engine. I am an Unreal Engine Cinematic Artist these days so I get use and flex all my skills.
