A SHORT explanation on why Jubo is blind
diamond_ace replied to ShawnGlade's topic in VHL.com Articles
I'm not sour about Orion at all, especially considering I chose not to even offer (Robbie makes great players and I respect that, and I'm looking forward to how Slade does in the bigs especially, but I have a lot of active new guys I want to give time to). I'm sour about you lying to that new guy last week about my team (oddly enough, while you turned him off of me, you turned him off of yourself as well, you're welcome Halifax). Chirp on the rest of the forums all you want, but keep things realistic in the new player threads, it's classless to do otherwise. Also, I've done far more research than you. Look at my 590s over the upcoming weeks - the defense one is already out. You're just sour that we've taken you out of the playoffs 2 seasons in a row. For that matter, you've won 1 playoff game against us total in both seasons. The irony of a sour person calling me sour... With a lot of understanding toward a guy who's finally starting to learn how to do the job and not offer 50 trades a day, from the one guy who's in the HOF for it already and who every other GM but you recognizes as objectively the best in the league and in more of a competition with the all time greats than anyone in the spots now (and thanks for the peppermint), diamond_ace. -
I'm with Ottawa. Right now, we're a bit stacked on forwards actually, that has a habit of happening as a contending team. We have 9 active forwards so you'd actually only start off on our 4th, but there are 3-4 guys on our 2nd and 3rd who are only maybe 2 weeks ahead of you, so if you are more active than they are you'd potentially pass them. Too many actives - a good problem to have, certainly, as it bodes well for our chances later on in the season when these guys are all developed, but until I know what to make of the guys I already have I can't offer you much.

Ottawa here - we have an active goalie who is well developed already and so we would only be able to give you backup. Just putting the offer out there anyway so you technically have options, but I'd recommend Saskatoon over us, considering how interested you seem to be already. I think they're the only team still looking for a starter, could be wrong about that but I know most of us are not. Good luck no matter what team you go to, and I hope you enjoy the site, feel free to ask me anything about how things on here work if you like

Yep, like Esso said. 2nd pair if you're active. It would be pretty hard to pass Komarov or Werbenjagermanjensen (although if you're full on active, I might give you some time with one of them on PP or PK anyway). We've been in both of the last two finals, with the cup the season before last to show for it - could get there again, we have the roster for it, especially with some defensive help. So if you'd like to join Ottawa, we'd be glad to have you.

A SHORT explanation on why Jubo is blind

Great writeup! I'd also like to add that Don Draper, Luke Allman, and Christopher Murphy are all also active. Draper's actually ahead of Kai (and that might be a swap I make after a week or so). Murphy has done things but has yet to update it, which is obviously not ideal and he'll want to do that. As far as capping: I think Fizzlebeef will get there or close enough - I also wouldn't be surprised if Gritty does, since this player seems to have Eagles' interest again. Lynch will get to the mid 100s or so, and Draper and Kai I think will both get over 100. Our forwards are honestly 9 deep, which is weird but at the same time it's a good spot to be in. Defensively, of course I'd like to nip one or two more guys from waivers if possible since Rasputinov and Hill are inactive, but as far as inactives go they're not bad to fill things out (and behind two definite caps in Smitty and Komarov). Also if any of the top 9 goes inactive, we have a 162 TPE inactive (Matthews) to move right up onto the 3rd. -
So I'll break down each team by positions and see who's what as far as contending, and who projects favorably into the season, in 3 different 590s (since they can't be used in one long one like regular media). First I'll do defense - I'll use anyone on the team that has TPE, if that's fewer than 4, I'll use inactives with 30 TPE to get to 4 or to finish off what they have, whichever comes first. Defense: Ottawa - Evgeni Komarov (173/active/will cap) Smitty Werbenjagermanjensen (126/active/will cap) Gregor Rasputinov (68/inactive) Jonathan Hill (56/inactive) Oslo - Jagger Philliefan (193/active/will cap) Dallas Jones (127/active/should cap) Donat Szita (110/banned) Finn Schaefer (30/inactive) Vegas - Eric Parker (190/active/will cap) James Lombardi (128/inactive) Basaraba Moose (56/welfare active/unlikely to cap) Mitch Matthews (63/welfare active/unlikely to cap) Juri Rykonen (50/inactive) Halifax - Bolt Vanderhuge (115/active/should cap) Max Coffey (53/inactive) Jad Clapperton (47/inactive) Hadrian Melborn (44/active/unlikely to cap) Saskatoon - Burnt Toast (76/inactive) Alexander Kachur (43/inactive) Brett Ewing (32/inactive) Sidhu (30/mostly inactive?) Yukon - Robert Renner (55/inactive) Jesse Sublime (35/inactive) Also listed is BB Nat, but he has used up his eligibility years. So by pure TPE, assuming that both the "will cap" and the "should cap" categories cap, Oslo seems to be the best defensively after the acquisition of Jagger Philliefan. Why Dallas Jones is in the should cap category is it's a Trifecta player, and those haven't tended to last long recently, but I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt since he's on his own team and Oslo is competing. Two capped defensemen, plus a 110 essentially-inactive, is a good top 3. Schaefer isn't great as a 4th, but I expect they'll double up on the 3 good ones until they can sign a new guy. Ottawa and Vegas both look interesting and it'll be a matter of depth between the two. Ottawa with two caps to Vegas' one, but as both Moose and Matthews are at least welfare active, it stands to reason they'll be somewhere in between Rasputinov and the cap. So which is better, two caps and two decent inactives, or one cap, a good inactive, and two actives that should end up around where the inactive is? The edge between the two might be found in who can recruit better players to join their team as they enter the league. Halifax is well back of Ottawa and Vegas but still has a decent group, led by Bolt Vanderhuge. Vanderhuge does a lot of affiliate welfare, which is worth as much as a PT, but on occasion he hits regular welfare. He's also been pretty consistent over his time here. Ultimately, I see him capping, even though he's a bit farther than most of the other guys who will cap. Melborn will be an interesting one (and despite the slight TPE deficit as of now, I expect he's with Vanderhuge ahead of Coffey and Clapperton in the lines). Depending on how active Melborn is, this team could actually pull relatively close to Ottawa and Vegas defensively. Saskatoon and Yukon are well back and will be relying primarily on inactives. An interesting case is Sidhu for Saskatoon, who hasn't claimed a single TPE yet but has also done the fantasy league, so he's at least still floating around in some capacity. If Peace can get him active, that'll be a huge get for them, and potential trade bait down the line. Burnt Toast might also be traded as the best of the inactives.

@Beaviss do you know how much we have in the league donation fund? I think for the betterment of the league we need to chip in toward corneal implants for Jubo.

Why I think the Sponsor's Shield Was Iffy
diamond_ace replied to Beketov's topic in VHL.com Articles
I hope not - I don't want to have to say no to the teams I don't sign with more than once. -
So @Beketov I'm in the second week of a four week article. I won the free doubles. Should I claim the free doubles this week then return to the weeks of the article, or should I finish the weeks of the article and take the free doubles in a month?

(S65) C - Anthony Matthews, TPE: 30
diamond_ace replied to Anthony Matthews's topic in Create A Player
Ottawa's a bit stacked everywhere but defense. As a center, I'd be starting you on our 4th. You could work your way up though - depends on if you'd rather be a smaller piece on a better team or a bigger piece on a team that perhaps isn't as strong. -
Hey bud, so Ottawa has a starter, we'd only be able to give you a backup role. We'd put you in for some games but if you plan to be active I have to tell you we're probably not your best choice. I'll throw the offer out there just in case.

3 OTT in the top 6. 4 more OTT the rest of the way. The 2 biggest risers both OTT. Better yet this doesn't even include Kyson Blake or Evgeni Komarov who are both VHL drafted, or Katie Warren or JB Rift who are GM players. Good luck with that.

I know a lot of people weren't fans of Helmet City, but I actually really liked that one - although logos have never really been much of a thing for me
