I can’t believe I’m two full seasons into this VHL thing that I started back in January…

When I saw the ad on a YouTube video for the VHL, I didn’t really know what to expect, but the idea of creating a player in a sim league of other real players seemed interesting to me.  I’ve been in fantasy hockey leagues for a while so I figured this could be something fun to try as well.  What I didn’t expect was the community that would come with it and that’s been the best part of it all.  Sure, creating my player and watching her grow through the VHLM and VHLE has been fun and exciting.  I can’t wait to see how things go now that I’ll be moving into the VHL this season.  But what keeps me checking in daily and staying involved are the awesome people around the forum and on the discord who really give life to the whole process and make it bigger than just watching STHS spit out numbers.

Season 93 was my first season as a GM in the VHLM and it’s been an amazing opportunity to interact with players— new and returning.  It’s been super fun chatting with the newer players who are experiencing the VHL for the first time the way I did just one season ago.  I’ve loved being able to share that experience with them and see them grow into the league, carving out an identity for their players through their forum posts and discord interactions.  The returning players I’ve chatted with have also been amazing— some of them with multiple careers behind them have so much to share about the history of the league.  I think it’s so cool that we have nearly 100 seasons of sim hockey history that we can look back at and that there are people around who have been in the league all that time.  It’s kinda mind blowing really!

As a GM, I’m really proud of our team this past season.  We finished 2nd in the M and had a good run to the semi-finals before losing to the eventual Founder’s Cup champions.  Going forward, I’ve definitely learned a lot from this season that I think will help me with building competitive teams in the future.  More importantly, I think I’m much better prepared now to help new players get acclimated to the league.  There has been so much to learn, but it’s been a fun challenge and I’m excited to keep going!

For my player, Season 93 in the VHLE playing for Vasteras was better than I’d expected.  I’d heard some less than positive things about the E before I got there, but my experience was absolutely a good one!  We had a great team and an awesome GM and we made a good run to the finals, eventually losing to Oslo who had our number all season long.  It was fun playing with and against some former teammates from Houston in my first season and I’m glad to see so many of them doing so well.  My only complaint from this past season was my player’s god-awful shooting percentage, but at least I’ve got a muffin sponsorship to show for it!

Going up to the VHL, I’m trying not to have too many expectations.  I’d like to see our team show signs of life this season and start building towards being a contender after a couple of seasons near the bottom of the league. I’m glad to see @Lemorse7 got the GM position in Riga and I’m sure he’ll do a great job with the team going forward.  He’s already made a few trades that should definitely help us be more competitive this season so it’ll be exciting to see how the season starts.  For my player, my hope is that I have a respectable rookie season in the VHL.  Eventually, I want to be a player that can be counted on in all situations and can be a positive factor towards the team’s success.  Time will tell I guess, but I’m definitely motivated to keep going since it’s been such a fun process so far!

On a personal level, I’m relieved to be done classes until the fall and I’m taking some time off before I start work for the summer.  Unfortunately, a big storm in Houston knocked out the power and wi-fi on Thursday and it’s still down now (Saturday).  So I’m writing this on my phone (which is why I didn’t format this post), trying to ration my battery life and hoping that I don’t need to light candles again tonight. Oh, and I hate cold showers with a passion! That is by far the most miserable part, though I guess things could always be worse.  Hopefully the lights come on soon so I can stop complaining about my first world problems.  Any good book recommendations?

1 Moscow Menace     Maverick Goncalves @leandrofg                           LW   TPE: 412                                   Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB     S93 Regular Season 72 12 19 31 16 161 28 50 3                             S93 Playoffs 6 2 1 3 1 12 2 3 0                             After a wild off-season that has culminated with the Moscow Menace holding the top two selections of the Season 94 VHL Entry Draft, it ultimately comes down to who Euron Leonidas decides to call first. With Moscow's roster taken into consideration, it's the winger, Maverick Goncalves, who makes the most sense to go first overall. While his numbers don't seem impressive, it's worth noting that Goncalves spent Season 93 with the Cologne Express of the VHLE, playing against much tougher competition. That was only possible due to his fantastic work ethic, which allowed him to quickly adapt to the tougher play of the VHLE. Goncalves is a talented player offensively, elite already at handling the puck and gives full effort in both zones of the ice. He's everything you look for in a first overall pick, and it won't be long before Goncalves lives up to it.                                             2 Moscow Menace     Jillian Woods @jacobcarson877                           D   TPE: 406                                   Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB     S93 Regular Season 72 18 60 78 34 202 22 88 98                             S93 Playoffs 16 5 10 15 -5 53 10 22 22                             Jillian Woods has wasted no time making her mark in the VHLM, and even before her impressive season for the Ottawa Lynx, Woods has been considered an elite prospect. The Moscow Menace are incredibly fortunate to not only scoop up an incredible forward prospect in Maverick Goncalves, but the top defensive prospect as well. Despite her small stature, which does not lend itself to a physical game, her work ethic is nothing short of elite, and she possesses excellent instincts and skills with the puck. An agile skater who is seemingly in the right position on both ends of the ice, there is an excellent chance that Woods could find herself in the VHL right away with Moscow in need of a fourth defenseman and being right up against the cap. With her skills and work ethic, I am confident in saying that she is ready for the challenge and won't be a liability at all as a rookie for the Menace.                                             3 Riga Reign     Felicia Hardy @JCarson                           D   TPE: 353                                   Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB     S93 Regular Season 68 18 54 72 0 213 48 114 114                             S93 Playoffs 15 4 10 14 5 32 12 24 31                             For the first time since Season 54, the Riga Reign have a new GM after the retirement of the legendary Benjamin Zeptenbergs. While it's daunting to follow in his footsteps, the new boss can start by addressing a weakness in their pipeline by adding an elite blueliner. At 6'8 and 250 pounds, Felicia Hardy does not bring the physical presence you would expect, but she is a masterful presence defensively. Her large frame and wingspan, combined with her exceptional positioning, make her a constant nuisance to opposing offenses, and while her own offensive abilities need refinement, she is still capable of chipping in on the attack as well. Another season of development will do her well, and Hardy will look to complete the second leg of the Triple Gold in the VHLE after winning the Founder's Cup with the Saskatoon Wild before joining Riga.                                             4 Vancouver Wolves     Pierre Marc Bouchard @Gaikoku-hito                           C   TPE: 346                                   Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB     S93 Regular Season 72 31 42 73 35 262 32 106 14                             S93 Playoffs 11 2 2 4 -2 28 6 34 3                             After spending seven of nine seasons in Vancouver with their last player, Vancouver snatches up a familiar, and heavily-touted prospect in Bouchard. The last Bouchard won just about every award they were eligible for, and this time around are the first Center off the board, and the second Forward. They have proven immediately that they will be a strong scoring threat, and with a core that is all but secured on the defensive end with Calaway, Slater, Left Alone and Gavrilovs holding this fort in Vancouver, they'll turn their first of two early picks here towards a center, learning lots from The Frenchman, and slotting in nicely with players like Annie Oaks and Logan Ninefingers in the long term.                                             5 Vancouver Wolves     Bollos de Trueno @Thunder                           D   TPE: 328                                   Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB     S93 Regular Season 72 15 50 65 13 181 54 120 89                             S93 Playoffs 15 4 11 15 6 31 16 42 24                             Following their first selection immediately comes another. And in that same vein, another user who has won just about everything under the sun, and is back to do some more of that there winning. Bollos de Trueno is a hard-hitting pick here at fifth overall, and could have, much like several other players on this list, been a consensus number one selection in other drafts. Strong scoring touch and massive physicality is what we should come to expect, and that's exactly what Vancouver will be looking for to replace the aging (and soon to finally be) Left Alone. That buys Vancouver several seasons of not having to think about defense, and that's a great feeling to have as a GM. Vancouver will be run from the back forward, and we should expect lots of offense driven from Bollos here through Pierre Marc.                                             6 HC Davos Dynamo     Pombo @samx                           LW   TPE: 331                                   Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB     S93 Regular Season 72 51 51 102 34 417 26 86 29                             S93 Playoffs 5 2 2 4 0 27 2 11 1                             Sam is back, not currently injured, and ready to Pombo! Despite rumours on the street, Davos calls Sam's bluff here and selects Pombo, an offensive dynamo and a certified scorer. While Pombo may be unsure of their place in Davos after some ancient history between the agent and Inactivity, Davos puts their faith in Pombo, and in a draft with some huge implications as well. As Davos tries to finish their offense with Players like Forum Content, Grimgore Ironhide, and Antonia Bucatini making their Davos debuts this season, this group could be a dangerous one for a long time, and Davos will need that to get them over the hump and back into playoff action. This could be the best or worst pick in the draft, but that's an exciting place to be at sixth overall!                                             7 Helsinki Titans     Soju                           G   TPE: 317                                   Season GP W L OTL SV% GAA SO GA SA     S93 Regular Season 72 30 30 12 0.911 2.64 5 193 2169                             S93 Playoffs 5 1 4 0 0.935 2.81 0 14 217                             Truly elite goaltenders are hard to come by, and Soju is projected to become just that. With Helsinki moving into a rebuild, there is no better piece for them to start out with than Soju. This past season Soju was spectacular as they finished 3rd in the VHLM in save percentage with a 0.911, and 8th in goals against average with a 2.64. All of the recent VHL champions have relied on goaltending, Soju will give Helsinki exactly that and could not be a better pick for their future.                                             8 Los Angeles Stars     Andrew Skilton                           D   TPE: 267                                   Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB     S93 Regular Season 72 12 42 54 28 119 84 142 83                             S93 Playoffs 11 2 10 12 8 23 8 38 14                             Los Angeles traded down from 2nd overall, securing 8th overall as the highest selection in the package received in return. The Stars are in need of essentially anything and everything given how desolate their roster is. At 8th overall, we expect to see our first first-gen player coming off the board in Andrew Skilton. They are coming off a great season in the VHLM as they posted a very solid and respectable 54 points in 72 games played. Skilton does project as a top defensemen of the future as this draft's top first-gen player, and Los Angeles will be a great landing spot for them.                                             9 New York Americans     Lazlo Holmes                           D   TPE: 306                                   Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB     S93 Regular Season 72 14 45 59 13 208 50 132 117                             S93 Playoffs 15 4 11 15 4 28 10 21 22                             The only reason Lazlo Holmes is going this late speaks to the depth of this draft, and New York stands to gain from exactly that! Getting Holmes at 9th overall is nothing shy of an absolute win for New York. Similarly to Moscow, New York is prepared to win now, and having a strong prospect defensemen will do a great wonder for their cap situation in the coming seasons. Holmes is coming off a solid VHLM season, with 59 points in 72 games, however Holmes really shined in the playoffs where they posted a point per game on route to a Founders Cup!                                             10 Prague Phantoms     Erik Thorvaldsson @Tetricide                           D   TPE: 275                                   Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB     S93 Regular Season 72 14 40 54 -10 174 54 145 151                             S93 Playoffs 5 2 1 3 -1 7 6 4 5                             In most other draft classes, a player of Erik Thorvaldsson's caliber would likely be going significantly higher than just 10th overall, echoing the sentiments noted for a few players already in this draft. A deep defenseman class means that the Greenland native drops down to a familiar spot in Prague at 10th overall. Thorvaldsson has made a name for himself as a strong defensive defenseman, helping a middling Hounds roster scratch and claw their way into the S93 VHLM playoffs. Despite the defensive tendencies, Thorvaldsson has plenty of room to grow offensively as well, flashing his talents throughout the season. Prague could use help at any area of their roster, and in a deep defenseman class, it's easy to secure a somewhat rare talent early in the rebuild with future classes unknown.                                             11 Toronto Legion     The Phantom of the VHL @Hogan                           C   TPE: 323                                   Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB     S93 Regular Season 72 34 37 71 40 366 68 151 16                             S93 Playoffs 16 3 11 14 -1 73 0 34 5                             In a bit of a surprising turn The Phantom of the VHL slips a bit lower than initially expected, landing with Toronto at 11th overall. The Phantom currently projects as the #7 overall prospect based on current skill evaluation, but with the run on defensemen, one of the top forward options slips a bit further down the board. Toronto would be pleased to select a center here, setting up a nice replacement plan for either Jimi Jaks or Mac Atlas - both of whom will be retiring by the end of S95. The Phantom displayed excellent improvement from his VHLM debut season, almost hitting a point per game pace with Ottawa and displaying a strong effort in the playoffs with 14 points in 16 games. Toronto is sure to be eyeing another near return to the Continental Cup finals, and they'd love to select a player who is already showing the ability to make it to the most important games of the year.                                             12 Los Angeles Stars     Maple Dogwood @dogwoodmaple                           RW   TPE: 289                                   Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB     S93 Regular Season 72 35 50 85 41 385 56 141 14                             S93 Playoffs 11 6 7 13 6 61 8 26 3                             With their second pick out of their whopping three in the 1st round, the Stars are pleased to select Maple Dogwood, another forward who slips down the board a little bit due to the defensemen heavy top of the first round. Similar to The Phantom, Dogwood comes with championship pedigree with a Founder's Cup win with the Philadelphia Reapers during his debut VHLM season. On his first full VHLM season with Halifax, Dogwood posted a whopping 85 points in 72 games, showcasing both his goalscoring ability and playmaking skills throughout the season. Los Angeles will happily pick up a forward to pair with their prior defenseman selection, and should look to continue taking some of the best options on the board as they continue a crucial draft in their effort to rebuild their roster from the ground up.                                             13 Helsinki Titans     Johnny Tsunami @Vice                           C   TPE: 244                                   Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB     S93 Regular Season 54 14 22 36 14 237 46 92 15                             S93 Playoffs 12 9 7 16 8 36 6 17 2                             After selecting their goaltender of the future and facing the start of a rebuild, the Titans take Tsunami. Johnny joined up with many of his fellow youths in Houston. He had a decent regular season for a late arrival but would go on to have one of best postseason out of anyone in the VHLM. His 16 playoffs points are the best out of all 1st rounders and are a major reason for the Bulls 12 game playoffs run. Being a two-way forward who can hit, and produce goals both on the power play and in critical moments are all reasons Helsinki select Johnny right here.                                             14 Los Angeles Stars     Tommy Shelby @Will                           C   TPE: 225                                   Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB     S93 Regular Season 72 19 36 55 25 195 33 129 5                             S93 Playoffs 11 2 5 7 9 36 2 31 0                             With their third selection of the 1st round, The Stars selecte Tommy Shelby, another center who slips downs the draft board because of the early run on blueliners, like Maple Dogwood before him. The 22 year old Brit worked wonders behind Maple Dogwood in Halifax during his inaugural VHLM season, producing 36 assist as a 2nd line foward. Tommy has amazing vision for passes, seeing set up chances others miss. He is a fantastic foward to build a offensive around, which is exactly why the Stars selected Tommy as they rebuild their roster.                                             15 HC Davos Dynamo     THE MIGHTY ICE WIZARD @Royski                           G   TPE: 200                                   Season GP W L OTL SV% SO GA SA MP     S93 Regular Season 10 4 5 1 0.844 0 42 270 614                             S93 Playoffs 3 1 2 0 0.94 1 5 84 179                             "You can never have too much goaltending!" says GM Alex as he adds a fifth goaltending prospect in addition to his very young, very green VHL goaltender. With the other positions pretty well locked in for the near future, Davos takes a swing at really nailing down a goaltender. Whether that will end up being Slezak, Cavill, Goulet III, Kaskiniemi-Kekkonen, TypThond or THE MIGHTY ICE WIZARD, they certainly hope it will be one of them. And if it is more than one of them, they can make back more than a fifteenth overall pick from them! THE MIGHTY ICE WIZARD did not get much time to play in the VHLM last season, but has put up some respectable numbers in the Junior Showcase Tournament and has really taken some initiative in helping run his teams. THE MIGHTY ICE WIZARD has also undergone a recent rebranding, adopting a much more conventional style, which should lead to some more expected results.                                             16 Los Angeles Stars     Wally Lose @youloser1337                           LW   TPE: 271                                   Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB     S93 Regular Season 72 29 26 55 35 222 26 86 10                             S93 Playoffs 16 4 4 8 -1 64 6 20 3                             The 1st round ends with Los Angeles using their fourth selection of the round on Wally Lose. The 22 year old American started his career in Mexico City, producing 10 points in 20 games, then adding two more in 7 playoffs games. Next season, Wally was drafted to the Lynx where he would win a lot. He was one of the leaders of that Founder's Cup finalists team with a near even spread of assists and goals. It is this ability to produce a balanced offensive attack from the left wing is what the Stars need as they move on from a disastrous S93. They'll need a lot of firepower to get fans back in their seats, and Wally doesn't have much to Lose!                                             2ND ROUND                                     17 N/A     Vacated Selection                                                                    Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB     S93 Regular Season N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A                             S93 Playoffs N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A                                                     18 HC Davos Dynamo     Kevin Johnathen @meandyoc                           D   TPE: 201                                   Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB     S93 Regular Season 72 14 31 45 -19 136 94 218 122                             S93 Playoffs N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A                                                     19 Malmo Nighthawks     Matteo Stefano @mmrs617                           RW   TPE: 216                                   Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB     S93 Regular Season 41 10 24 34 8 130 26 78 12                             S93 Playoffs 5 2 4 6 -1 20 4 14 5                                                     20 Los Angeles Stars     Nikita Yolishev @Joel Main                           LW   TPE: 215                                   Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB     S93 Regular Season 72 20 31 51 -18 248 32 114 20                             S93 Playoffs 5 1 2 3 -2 11 17 7 0                                                     21 Calgary Wranglers     Eugene Ryanheart @jesse115                           LW   TPE: 209                                   Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB     S93 Regular Season 72 19 28 47 -17 284 20 102 19                             S93 Playoffs 5 3 0 3 0 17 10 5 1                                                     22 Moscow Menace     Dorji Khan @Oddpurplefly                           LW   TPE: 184                                   Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB     S93 Regular Season 72 8 10 18 6 78 40 88 3                             S93 Playoffs 11 0 3 3 1 16 2 12 2                                                     23 Prague Phantoms     Donald Carlson @AW13                           D   TPE: 185                                   Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB     S93 Regular Season 72 20 41 61 12 135 58 110 116                             S93 Playoffs 5 0 2 2 0 8 6 7 11                                                     24 Helsinki Titans     Toby Cook                           D   TPE: 175                                   Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB     S93 Regular Season 72 16 46 62 -16 151 112 154 142                             S93 Playoffs 5 0 1 1 -4 5 6 8 6                                                     25 Warsaw Predators     Jon Webber III                           G   TPE: 192                                   Season GP W L OTL SV% GAA SO GA SA     S93 Regular Season 60 41 14 4 0.899 2.23 4 134 1330                             S93 Playoffs 11 6 4 1 0.887 2.05 3 23 203                                                     26 Prague Phantoms     Sammie Kiefer                           LW   TPE: 152                                   Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB     S93 Regular Season 72 8 24 32 3 165 36 72 10                             S93 Playoffs 16 5 3 8 -3 29 6 16 2                                                     27 Toronto Legion     Robin Sierra @ethanjaeda                           C   TPE: 155                                   Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB     S93 Regular Season 72 5 7 12 2 110 35 54 2                             S93 Playoffs 11 2 2 4 3 23 0 6 0                                                     28 Prague Phantoms     Ty Duke @TheDuke                           C   TPE: 152                                   Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB     S93 Regular Season 72 8 6 14 -6 104 31 76 2                             S93 Playoffs 11 0 2 2 1 7 0 9 0                                                     29 D.C. Bit of a quick turnaround on this one given we were a bit late putting the job posting up.

Anyway, the league would like to once again thank @hedgehog337 for a very extended stint as GM of the Riga Reign but all reigns…. Sorry I couldn’t resist… must come to an end eventually.

After consideration of all the great candidates that applied the @Commissioner team has decided it’s time for @Lemorse7 to take his place among the VHL GM ranks as the new GM of Riga. Congratulations Lemorse and long may you reign.

Yeah I’m not sorry for that one.

Royski reacted to jacobcarson877 in Player Jersey Retirement - Jesse Teno
    shoutout @Triller!!!

There are not many opportunities left in the league to walk into a franchise and walk out the undisputed best there had ever been. David Davis had a great season, Cole Pearce (notably appreciated) was the only goaltender to hit 100 wins for the club for a while. Jacob Tonn had a great couple of seasons. Tater Tot held off opponents the best they could for the time. But Jesse Teno blew each and every one of them out of the water.

When I took over London in S88, I was presented a mostly competitive young core, and a whole pile of trade offers. Some GMs would have taken the opportunity to shed these valuable assets and define their own vision, and boy were some of the trade offers tempting. But I knew that wasn’t an option. I knew Jesse Teno, and the accompanying aimkin were special since the season 84 JST. I took over the San Diego Marlins the following season, and knew that aimkin would be the perfect AGM. Teno had a difficult season on a sparse Saskatoon roster, but earned at a rate that caught the attention of Dil who could not pass up the promise of a homegrown starting goaltender.

Teno stood out from day 1, securing 7 wins in their rookie season, and never let go. Somehow the .923% in their rookie season would be their worst, ending their career at a mind-boggling .928% in the regular season. Teno always gave us the chance to win, even when I was learning all of the things that I did wrong long after I could have fixed them. We never missed the playoffs during my tenure with Teno (my Tenoure?). And in the playoffs, Teno was a different beast.

.928% is a ridiculous figure, but that was brought down by some random outliers over 72 game seasons. In the quick timeline of the playoffs, Teno was able to conjure a .936%.

Teno allowed me the ability to push the absolute limits of STHS and the salary cap, slashing our defensive spending every season, and Teno never caved in. Teno was our undeniable MVP in our Cup run, and was the reason we could even build the teams we did in the first place. At the end of every season I knew that we would be able to compete again because we had Jesse Teno.

One must be legendary if every opponent curses your name before and after every game. Jesse Teno, despite being the player of one of the nicest people I’ve ever shared a sim league space with, became a villain that everyone feared. Teno ended dominant regular season runs. Teno made Victory Cups seem useless. Teno stared you in the face while robbing you blind.

Teno was the best of us, and will be remembered as the face of London. Teno set franchise records that may never be broken. Teno sits amongst the greatest goaltenders to have ever done it throughout league history. And Teno will watch over us for the rest of time, protecting us like they always did.

Thank you Jesse Teno, thank you aimkin for always believing in me, always allowing me a place to spew thoughts, and for being the nicest villain this league has seen in as long as I’ve been around!

    @aimkin

    GOOD EVENING MIAMI!!!

Happy Monday and welcome to your Press Conference for this week ending May 19th!
And boy do we have a busy week ahead with all of the off-season events happening.

    On to the questions!

    1. What do you think is the most important part of being a leader? Is it different when it comes to being on or off the ice?
being dyl. no, you must be dyl on and off the ice.

    2. What is your favourite way to train during the off-season?
no need to train. thats why its the offseason. you are OFF from doing stuff.

    3. The World Junior Championship is going to be starting soon! Which nation are you most excited to watch this season?
none i dont plan on watching it. if theyre any good theyd be in the normal world championship

    4. If you had to pick one hockey skill that you could never train again, which one would it be?
all of them. i shouldnt have to train at all.

    5. On the contrary; if you could pick one hockey skill that you were the best in the world at, which would THAT one be?
    fighting

    6. An Aurora Borealis happened just a few days ago! Were you able to catch it?
no i managed to avoid it. its not cool to see if everyone sees it.

Monster of the week is; Controversially, Aussie Lemonade. What a banger.
    what does this even mean?

Royski reacted to CaptainSB in Nicks Picks VHLM Draft Special Season 94
Review: I think this is a fantastic list and definitely the top 5 players and users in the draft. I agree it should be a no brainer Vice should go first and the analysis to prove him to go first feels spot on and non-debatable. I feel unfortunately spots 2/3 and 4/5 might be flipped. I feel a new user and a goalie going this high might be a stretch and feel the top returning users in der meister and you of course will be a higher likely pick in the next two spots followed by Royski and Greg_Di. As a new user I do root for a new user to crack the top 5 so outside my two favorite teammates in Vice and Der Meister, I am rooting for Royski to go as high as possible. Also I love the stats you chose to make your case but feel the goalie case feels like more a stretch and a want rather than something that may be more sure thing to the other 4 players. Loved the top 5 mock!

Royski reacted to NickSunderbruch in Nicks Picks VHLM Draft Special Season 94
Welcome back to another Nicks Picks this time instead of covering the playoffs, we're gonna go over the VHLMs top draft picks this year and predict the top five.
    So my main criteria on who I believe gets drafted where will be based on the following but not in any particular order;
TPE totals, player history, update schedule, and community activity.
I feel as though a strong mix of these things will determine who a GM might value, a player with a higher TPE total might be valuable, but someone who has a little less TPE but is also outearning that other player might be considered more valuable by a GM.
So without further ado let us get into this weed fueled research session out of the way.

NUMBER ONE OVERALL:  Johnny Tsunami C 200 TPA 36 banked, @Vice
Probably the consensus number one overall pick, the best center in this draft class, and probably already VHL ready if you ask me.
As a rookie free agent Johnny put up 14 goals and 22 assists for 36 points aand a +14 in 54 games. Not bad at all in my humble opinion.
This is his 2nd player if I'm correct, which makes this a potential BOOM of a first overall pick, I really look forward to seeing him this upcoming season, where I'll cover him with fervor.
I think Johnny is a LOCK for the first pick and I can't see anyone really competing for this spot besides maybe the next two players on this list.

NUMBER TWO OVERALL: THE MIGHTY ICE WIZARD G 191 TPA, @Royski
This is a first generation player, who probably gets selected number two overall in the M. I absolutely love to see that.
A 4-5-1 overall record in 10 starts isn't pretty, however we all know how the STHS likes to rail backup goalies stats, so I can't hold that against him.
His regular season stats weren't very good, HOWEVER his post season stats were absolutely stellar when he had a chance to play and show what he has.
A 0.94 SV%, a 1.68 GAA, 1 shutout, and only 5 goals on 84 shots. This is a goalie to keep an eye on, and a user who I'm excited to see becoming one of the pillars of this community as time goes on. I've been very lucky to interact with him in the Aces discord server, and I look forward to either playing with him or trying to score on him in the future.

NUMBER THREE OVERALL: Roger Eagles G 174 TPA, @Greg_Di
A second generational goalie in this top half of the list, which is just stellar to see. Playing a goalie can sometimes feel a little unrewarding.
So it's really nice to see two top goalies here in this draft, and should be a good solid pick and will make the team who picks him an instant contender.
He went 5-11-1 with some less than stellar but understandable rookie backup numbers this year with a 0.891 SV% and a 3.21 GAA.
This next season really should be his breakout season, I see no reason why Roger won't just bounce back.

NUMBER FOUR OVERALL: Konstyantyn Shevchenko RW 153 TPA, @der meister
A well known member of the community on a recreate who's earning like crazy and looking like he could make any team an instant success.
With the experience this user has in the league, he'll surely have a nearly perfect build once he's capped at 200 for the year, and then all that'll be left is to bank for the E or the VHL.
in 17 games he put up 3 goals and 3 assists for 6 points and a +10 during the regular season for Houston, which is really good considering how stacked Houston was this year.
I expect him to be both a solid early pick in the M and a solid late first rounder in the VHL draft as well. It's hard to imagine a player like this getting taken any lower than four.

NUMBER FIVE OVERALL: Nicholas Sunderbruch Jr C 143 TPA, @NickSunderbruch(me teehee)
Sunderbruch is an interesting pick at this spot and definitely not me being biased to my own player (it is)
But Sunderbruch is a returning player, and a very defensive minded center, who should be capped at 200 within a few weeks.
in 25 games he put up 2 goals and 5 assists for 7 points and a +3. Certainly not the most amazing stats, but something to work with considering it was his rookier season.
I see no reason why Sunderbruch would fall any further than 7-8 but I have him at number 5 just so I have a chance to talk about myself.

Well boys that's going to be it for my top 5 mock draft, if you have any problems with the list then please use the comments to debate.
Though a fair warning is that I'm better than you and am always right about everything all the time, and I am physically incapable of saying even a single wrong word.
I hope you all enjoyed this art piece disguised as a mock draft, and I hope y'all enjoy this league as much as I do.
Anyways I hear my dad coming home from the bar, so I gotta go grab my helmet and my jockstrap, smell ya later. Stay warm and stay icey, Seacrest out.

Following an unfortunate defeat to the Saskatoon Wild, the offseason for the Halifax 21st came earlier than they might have hoped, and with that comes changes.  While the roster is expected to change significantly before the puck drops on Season 94, there is also some change going on behind the scenes in the Halifax front office.

After nearly a full year of service as the Halifax AGM, @Will3 will be parting ways with the team, hopefully to pursue new management opportunities in the higher leagues.  In his time with the team, he made great contributions in the locker room and on the forums and was a great help to both the previous GM and myself.  I'd like to thank Will for his consistency, professionalism, and willingness to help the team any way he could.  I'm sure he'll be a fantastic addition wherever he lands next in a management role.

As a replacement, the Halifax 21st are proud to announce the hiring of @ace_five_ as the new AGM.  As a player on the team last season, he was a great leader in the locker room and it was clear that he definitely had the aptitude for leadership and management.  He had a brief stint as AGM for Miami this past season and this offseason he'll be GMing the Steel in the JST.  I'm very excited to be able to add such an enthusiastic member to our management team who is also well known in the Halifax community and I look forward to working more closely with him towards a Founder's Cup!

    @Royski

The number one goalie currently available in the season ninety-four VHLM Dispersal Draft, The Mighty Ice Wizard really came into his own during the recent VHLM playoffs. After joining the league on March 29, 2024, the twenty-one-year-old netminder quickly joined the Las Vegas Aces and was able to see action in ten regular season games. In those ten games The Mighty Ice Wizard posted a 4-5-1 record along with a .844 save percentage and 4.10 goals against average. Despite those numbers the Aces felt comfortable with The Mighty Ice Wizard leading them in their first-round playoff series against the Houston Bulls. While the Aces would eventually lose in five games in the Quarterfinals against Houston, The Mighty Ice Wizard put up amazing numbers in the three playoff games he appeared in. He put up a record of 1-2 along with a .940 save percentage and 1.67 goals against average, which was quite an improvement from his regular season numbers.

Now in the off-season The Mighty Ice Wizard has been putting in the work to be a top three pick in the upcoming draft, something that is looking more and more likely as the days pass by. Of course much of the top end of the draft will go by teams needs rather than best player available, but whoever picks up The Mighty Ice Wizard during draft day should have solid goaltending in Season ninety-four.

For this FZ payouts it is working differently so here we go
    1st will get 5 tpe
    2nd-9th will get 4
    Bottom 21 get 2
    Rest get 3

If that is confusing then just wait and see how much tpe you got
