It has been many moons since I tuned in to your show, but it feels good to be back. Hopefully I can actually drag these words out into the length of a Media Spot. @Kendrick #1: I will tell you who the worse free agent signing in history is! Phil Rafter when he signed in New York. He should have been epic there... but he was a pile of poop. He let the team down. Oo what about the 15 year deal for Rick DiPietro, who had basically a career ending injury a few month after that deal went down? Why would you do 15 years though!? Who is your financial adviser? I need to speak with them. Kendric #2: Rebuild for the Red Wings was definitely imminent. Unless you are snagging a very young free agent, then it doesn't really make sense. I mean, we got Marleau, a 37 year old, for 3 years, but we are in a position where we need a couple of wiley vets to really compliment our youthful speed and energy. Oh side note - YES SHADOW OF MORDOR IS FANTASTIC! Loved the way of the ork hierarchy structure. Phil #1: There are a lot of memories. It's amazing. I keep remembering more and more as I look back. First ballot HoFer feels good. Beketov's induction that quickly was definitely warranted! Oh yea #Beke4Builder. I sported the hashtag for you!! Yea Holik has fantastic career stats. Crazy to think that he only earned one Shaw Trophy. Phil #2: Yea I miss slobo. He was a very valuable member. Always nice to me too. djscooter I think was his name haha. Yea they are all the pioneers. They set the legends! I keep tabs on scotty. But I actually believe it is Knight that developed the player builds that everyone uses nowadays. Any lockerroom with the Player Efficiency Chart was David's doing. He looked at all the slider settings in the sim and calculated each attributes worth for each type of player build. I also feel like anyone would pick people that were around when they joined the league to come back. There's a reason we've stuck around and those first few months in the VHL set the tone. We will always remember those who made that instant impact on us. Where's Arce? Where's Nagger? Where's @Quik (omg he's back!) Where's Redbull? haha Phil #4: ooo I didn't notice that trend! Canadian, European, American, European. Nice. I've only ever created English players. Always my first name, then an important Athlete's surname to me. Yea Roman is a great name. Phil #3: Well people joining wouldn't know that there was a development league. However, I like the idea of dropping it in favour of a different league set up with promotion and relegation of teams like in football (soccer), with higher caps for the teams in the Top League, and slightly lower in the Second League. Most of the young teams will be motivated to stay active AS A TEAM to get up to that top league and EARN promotion. And then we all have interest in both leagues, rather than now, where we all ignore that league. Yea I agree with @Devise, we need to condense so we have LR activity. It's so much more fun when we can have that. It's true, it's all about the community Overall another great podcast. I have missed these, along with @der meister's !

It was S21 or S22 - I was a free agent with Phil Gerrard. I was debating staying in Seattle, until I got a group Skype call. It had at least 6 people from Toronto calling to stroke my ego and convince me that I wanted to be in Toronto. The only person that didn't was @sterling. haha jokes, he was on the call too.

I joined the league 8 and a half years ago. @Knight had been trying to get me into it since Season 1. My first stint was in S11. I wrote exactly 1 fan590 and my username was Creamcheese. At that time, I was still in high school. I was a skinny goof who loved sports. I was on as many sports teams as I could be in (yea, DRAGON BOAT MOFOS) and thought a "virtual hockey league" was nerdy. I had also just started what turned into a terrible relationship with a girl from high school. When I recreated an account for realz in S17, I was in a gap year, trying to figure out what program to apply for University (Kinesiology & Physical Health and Education is what I ended up doing). I was still with... let's call her "crazy ex 1". Not going into much detail, but we had moved out together in first year... she quit her job the next day and stopped paying rent. My credit cards ended up getting maxed as I worked 38 hours a week, had 40 hours of classes and 6 hours of labs. She also ran at me with a butcher's knife. I did manage to get rid of her and the apartment finally. I ended up in a position where I had massive credit card debt, no government funding (because I earned too much - lol) and no possible way to afford school. I had to take multiple years off at a time to pay off debts and simultaneously save up for university. I had much downtown in my job so I was able to escape to the VHL often and contribute as much as I wanted to. I finally graduated in 2015. Since then I've established myself in the hospitality industry, but am sick of getting jerked around by the company so I am in the final steps of getting a Full-Time job as a Rec and Leisure Coordinator for Health Systems Group (I would basically organize and run ball hockey and basketball leagues haha). I've also met the girl I am going to marry. I knew for sure just before the start of my fourth date. And like @tfong's better half, she's (at least) twice as smart as me. If I get the job, I'll be complete 100% debt free within 3 months and I can start saving for our future. We have just passed our 6-month milestone. The VHL community has supplied me with many laughs, and I've made so many connections with people here. I am truly grateful for everyone who's contributed in any way to this league.
