I’m super happy about how the team has ended up as well 2. the start of my individual stats. I was so so so far behind a point per game but now I’ve finally gotten close. 3. Hopefully not Oslo, so any other team lol. 4. It’s gonna be a weird team this year for sure, honestly not sure who my pick is. 5. Knight 1,291
1. Season's coming to an end, are you happy with how things have gone? In terms of team success, it's hard not to be happy about the position we're in. Otherwise, it's been quite a frustrating year.2. If you could change one thing about the season, what would it be? More opportunity to make an impact. It's difficult to gain any momentum or stay motivated playing 9 minutes per game. 3. Who do you think we'll face first if we make the playoffs? Really only trying to take down the top dog Vasteras.4. NHL is starting up again, any way too early guesses to who wins the cup? Toronto Maple Leafs because surely they'll win at some point.5. On behalf of Baby Boomer... how can we stop losing to Oslo? We score against them at a lower rate than any other team, so whatever we can do to generate more offense. 6. What's your favorite piece of media? (i.e book, movie, etc..) There's no single favourite piece. Yes, again it's a great group here! 3). Loving it and let's keep on rolling! 4). As a goalie, no way lol. Gotta be able to see the puck well at all times. 5). MSouthworth 128
1. Who is last weeks MVP? I am going to have to say Nathan Ecker, they have been the battery to our offense. We don't go without Nathan. 2. If you could make one trade to make the team better (can be realstic or fantasy) what would it be) We need another defensemen. We should try a pick or two for my buddy Benjamin Abenduct. 3. what is favorite article you read this week on the forum and why! It has to be the April Fool's joke about Josh stealing the money. That really got people talking! 4. What do you think is better Pasta or Pizza? Pizza, seriously....that is no contest. Who would want pasta over pizza? 5. What NHL team are you most excited for this playoff season? Tampa Bay Lightning. Our window while almost closed, is still open! Once last chance to get Stammer another Cup. Let's do this. 6. What is your plan for your Player's vhle career? I sadly am hoping this is my one and only season in the VHLE. I would love to hit the cap and head to the big leagues. It so far has been a very fun and unexpected season. I cant think of specific stats but I know me and Dukat have been tearing it up so I'd have to give it to one of us. 2. If I can make one trade i would trade a 7th for every bulls player from last year that was lr active (I'll leave the hard part of figuring out that multi way trade to the management). 3. I don't have a favourite article this because I have not read many due to me being busy with sports school and other stuff. 4. Pizza is definitely better, just don't go crazy with the cheese I'm lactose intolerant. 5. As a leafs fan I have to say them and it looks like we will match up against another good team because the division is stacked which should make for a great showing. 6. My plan for my player's VHLE career is to stay in the E for one season tear up the league hopefully get a chip and move on to the show. Although it will be a massive grind to get to the VHL for next season. jacobcarson877 2,563
Hey everyone! Been a while, but we are back up and running here in Rome, and wanted to give you all an opportunity to come say hi, get to know me, and earn some sweet sweet TPE along the way! Answer 3 for 1 Capped TPE, or 6 for 2 Capped TPE. No single word answers please! 1. This will be my 12th season of GMing, but my first in the VHLE. I've won a championship in the VHLM and VHL, and a Top GM award in both leagues as well. What should I come to expect for the VHLE? What makes this competition different from the others? 2. We are currently without a goaltender, other than the bots. Has your player ever given it a go, would they (hypothetically of course), and do you think they'd be any good at it? 3. Rome won the Renaissance Cup in S82, more than 10 seasons ago. What do you think we need to do to get back to that kind of performance, and what do you bring to the team in that regard? 4. Rome has a huge prospect pool, who do you think is our most exciting prospect, and who do you most want to play with? 5. Italy isn't usually known as a hockey nation, what makes it so special to play in Italy as opposed to a more traditional hockey market? 6. What are your personal goals for this season, and how can I help you achieve them? Tagging all of our players and prospects just to get a gauge of who is around! Drop a reaction or a response below so I know you see this! I really don't know. 5. I don't know why it's more special to play in Italy than a traditional hockey market. 6. My personal goal is to play games. What are your personal goals for this season, and how can I help you achieve them? 1. This competition is different from others because we are all trying so hard. Most of us are trying to play our best in order to get called up faster, but some also had a slow start and are doing their best to avoid being called back down. 2. No they have never tried to be a goalie, and they never will. They would be terrible. 3. Well, I'm focused on me. And I'm locking in to max earn. Unfortunately I will be getting called up to the VHL the end of this season (Hopefully lol.) But technically because I've only been like 30 TPE away from the VHL, I'm like the top in the VHLE right at the ceiling. But now I need to break that ceiling and go beyond my strength. 4. Honestly man, I've not been paying attention to the prospects. I just joined the team a day ago and will be leaving soon. 5. Because it has awesome tourism attractions and I get to enjoy specially crafted pizza and pasta. 6. My personal goals for this season is to lock in, hit 400 TPE and max earn for the 5 seasons I will be in the VHL. I also won't get any regression so I can enjoy 5 seasons of max earning and make it near the top in the VHL. jacobcarson877 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/108824-rome-gladiators-press-conferences/page/8/#findComment-1036623 Share on other sites

jacobcarson877 2,563
Quick turnaround here, being hired midweek, putting out a press conference ASAP and then the week ending is fun! 1. It's been a couple days now into my reign, we've brought in 2 new players, reconnected with a few lost prospects, but the list of administrative tasks seems to be nearing it's end. How do you feel things have improved over the last week? 2. All but one of our players who have played a game for us thus far are above a point per game. What does that say about our chemistry despite not seeing the wins coming in? 3. We've got a handful of prospects that are primed to join the team next season. How do you plan to welcome the new players to our team? 4. At this point in our (non) competitive cycle, it's all about establishing our identity and structure for the team going forward. Do you think we should build from the net forward, stack up on raw offensive power, or are you of a more balanced philosophy? 5. It seems likely that we'll be taking offers on some players as we approach the trade deadline, working to get our most active players onto the most active teams. How do you plan to get the attention of other GMs, and would you even be interested in making a move down the line? 6. There are currently 2 teams with a backup goaltender. How do you plan to help us petition @PacifistKit17 or @qripll to let us "borrow" a goaltender for the rest of the season? Or should we just abduct one and run really really fast? jacobcarson877 2,563
Happy Monday everyone! We're settled in, and absolutely rocking it this week! 1. The Theme Week theme has been announced! If you have not seen it already, check it out here! (TLDR, it's "Rookies"). Do you plan on doing a PT this week for the extra Uncapped TPE? Do you have a good idea of what you'd do it about, or do you need a hand fleshing out an idea? 2. We've been losing a ton of high-scoring, one-goal games. Other than a goaltender, which would obviously change a lot of things, what do you think it is that our team needs to do better to close out those games? Is it just a lack of endurance, is it a mental thing? Are we getting sloppy in the last few minutes, or is it all just an elaborate plan to tank for (insert top prospect here)? 3. There will be a brand new draft class starting next week, hopefully being populated by some recreates, but also a new batch of first-generation players. You're all generally a couple season into your careers now, what advice do you offer for these new players about what it takes to get here, and what pitfalls they should avoid? 4. There's a few trades bubbling around the league, including some action for your Rome Gladiators. Do you imagine we're the kind of team that you would always hear trade rumours about on Twitter for months before the deadline, and then the exact move gets made at the deadline, or do you think we're the kind of team that blindsides insiders every deadline with a completely out-of-left-field move? 5. For most leagues, the trade deadline is one of the most exciting points in the season. It generally tells you whether management's perception of the team aligns with yours, and gets you really excited for the future of the team, or completely disjointed. What kind of moves do you expect to come from Rome, and how can we get you excited about the next era? 6. In the offseason there should be a posting to try to fill this GM position long-term. What sort of qualities to you value most in a GM, and is there anyone that you'd love to fill that position? @isaak @solyom @Hunter S @KmaddFPS @Nyx @The goat of hockey @horoscope Happy TPE earning everyone! 1. I’ll try to get the theme week tpe somehow. I don’t know exactly what I’ll do. 2. You need the experience and toughness of the rookie without a cookie, Alex Leblanc. 3. Don’t let a GM change wreck your world. 4. Rome is a pretty big market. I’m sure the leaks are plentiful and few are surprised by moves, 5. A goal keeper? Maybe? Maybe?… 6. 3. I'll most likely look into it, but I just want to get my 12 cap first. 2. I honestly think it's the lack of goaltender. Maybe the defense slacks quite a bit, but a goalie could certainly help. 3. Avoid going inactive. Try and earn as much as you can. That was one of my mistakes. 4. Well I don't think there's a big eye around Rome right now, I feel like the fan base is focusing on teams higher in the standings. 5. I think that maybe Rome will trade for a Goalie, who knows. 6. I think activity and experience is the most important in a GM. jacobcarson877 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/108824-rome-gladiators-press-conferences/page/8/#findComment-1037392 Share on other sites
jacobcarson877 2,563
Happy Monday everyone! The final stretch is upon us! 1. We've acquired a couple picks and prospects to give ourselves a better shot in the next couple seasons. If you were to GM a team, would you rather rebuild through the draft, or through trading for drafted prospects? 2. We're nearing the end of the season, and well, it was a certifiable disaster from a standings perspective. What's one win that we can remember this season by, instead of looking at the standings? 3. Tomorrow is my college orientation. Are you in school? What are you taking, and if you're done school, what did you take? Where do you want to go from there, or where DID you go from there? 4. It's recreate week! The 97 draft class begins today, and many veterans wait for this week to recreate for the most optimal start. Do you have any plans for your next player? A name? A position? A style of play? 5. How's your future VHL team doing this season? Take a look at the Standings and see what's going on with them. Are you excited to make it there, and how can you help them be better than ever before? 6. It's the final question, and my question for you, is a question for me! What's one question you want to ask me? Can be anything at all, VHL, IRL, and as long as it's a question I feel like answering, I will! Get what I can from the draft, and then trade for good players too. 2. Well it was a high scoring season, and a lot of team members came out with a high point average. 3. Yes I am in school. I am taking English, Psychology and Biology. Next Semester I begin my Primary Care Paramedic Dual Credit program. 4. I'm not recreating, I still have like 4 seasons ahead. 5. Yes we have been doing really good (Phoenix) and I'm super excited to get to play with them. 6. I got nothing for ya. Sorry. jacobcarson877 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/108824-rome-gladiators-press-conferences/page/8/#findComment-1037885 Share on other sites
jacobcarson877 2,563
Final Week of the regular season! 1. We are way, way (way, way way) out of a playoff position. Obviously lots was wrong from the beginning, and we only had so much time to get things going again. But, we've got some new assets in the system, some new prospects ready to play for us next season. Would you consider this season a success? 2. As the season comes to an end, so may/does my tenure as Rome GM. It's been a strange season, but one that taught me a lot. What have you learned this season that will help you in the rest of your VHL career? 3. I've been to almost all of my classes now for college, and I'm starting to really get myself geared up for my life after academics. What is your players plan after they retire? 4. In the last few seasons there has been a disproportionate amount of defenders and goaltenders created. How do you think that will affect team-building going forward, and how can the forwards get an advantage? 5. There's been a lot of talk around the community about the use of AI tools in TPE tasks. We'll never get to a point where an output from AI can be submitted for TPE, but what use cases do you think are okay for AI to be used to help with TPE tasks? 6. If you could make one change to how the VHL currently works, large-scale or small-scale, what would it be, and why?
