Rhynex Entertainment 487
Calgary Wranglers Off Season and Season 86 Preview After a disappointing North American Conference Semi-Finals Loss to the Chicago Phoenix in Season 85, the Calgary Wranglers enter the off season with plenty of questions. How are they going to move forward after losing as the top seat with one of the most potent offenses in the VHL in Season 85? How will they solve their cap problems with youngsters in Landon Wolanin @jacobcarson877, Leandro Goncalves @leandrofg, and AirRig GoodBrandSun @Rhynex Entertainment joining Season 85 team Captain Daniel Janser @Daniel Janser as max salary players after entering their first season of their pro contracts for Season 86? Some changes must be taken during the off season and GM @Ricer13 certainly know how to trade, so let's have a look at what transpired throughout the S85 off season and what the team looks like at the S86 Training Camp. First Big Trade of the S85 Off Season for the Calgary Wranglers came as a Blockbuster as they saw long time veteran Wrangler and ex-Captain Saku Kotkakoivu @DollarAndADream and often traded Superstar veteran defender Erlantz Jokinen @jRuutu traded to the Prague Phantoms for Alfred Champagne @Anthique, Prague Phantoms' S87 1st Round Pick, Malmo Nighthawks' S86 2nd Round Pick, and Prague Phantoms' S86 2nd Round Pick. Clearly a cap moving move by GM @Ricer13. This trade left the Calgary Wranglers with a hole up front, but more importantly a big hole on the blue line and giving big defender AirRig GoodBrandSun a much bigger role as once again the primary defender for the team. AirRig GoodBrandSun was previously the go to primary defender in his rookie season in S83, and looks to have another incredible season in his 4th season pro. Trader Rice Man was not done there. GM @Ricer13 joined in on a 3-Way Trade between the Calgary Wrangers, HC Davos Dynamo, and Helsinki Titans. A massive Blockbuster Trade that involves multiple multiple draft picks going all over the place and Karl Pedersen @JeffD coming back to the Calgary Wranglers. Karl Pedersen, a rookie netminder selected in 19th Overall in S85 looks to be the back-up goaltender for the Wranglers in S86. The Calgary Wranglers part ways with their S86 1st Round Pick, their S87 3rd Round Pick, and their S88 3rd Round Pick. And once again, the trades don't stop there! GM @Ricer13 swapped earlier picked up S86 Malmo Nighthawks' S86 2nd Round Pick to London for London United's Logain Ablar @Kelsier, a veteran defender who looks to fill up an important defensive spot in the much weakened blue line, and a Free Agent to be in Kakapo Bushtit @Esso2264 . Omi Aberg @osens joins the Calgary Wranglers from Prague for a S87 4th Round Pick the following day. Omi Aberg is a veteran player who provides the Calgary Wranglers with a much needed veteran presence who have "Winning" experience. With 3 Continental Cups in their trophy cabinet at home, Omi Aberg is an excellent addition to the Wranglers' locker room. This leaves the Wranglers one more open forward spot to replace with Kakapo Bushtit testing the Free Agency waters. A trade for Bob Vladovechsenkchushkin (WOW what a mouth full) @Grape comes into play by Trader Rice Man. The Rice Man trades their S86 3rd Round Pick along with London United's 4th Round Pick to grab Bob Vladovechsenkchushkin from the Los Angeles Stars. Then a tasty trade came along for Trader Rice Man, a trade GM @Ricer13 announced as "the kind of trade that came out of nowhere… but one that I could not pass up on" (paraphrased from hidden sources in the Wranglers' organization). Trader Rice Man trades away previous pick up Alfred Champagne for Tom Creeg @Creegan610 and 3 draft picks: Malmo's S86 3rd Round Pick, HC Davos' S87 Second Round Pick, and Helsinki's S86 2nd Round Pick. Finally, Trader Rice Man finishes the S85 off season with two more picks, almost a week later. The first trade was a trade down that sent to Helsinki a 1st Round pick in the S86 draft (Warsaw's 1st round pick), with Toronto's S86 Second Round Pick and Helsinki's very own S88 Second Round Pick returning for the Calgary Wranglers. Trader Rice Man followed up with a trade with Moscow for their S86 1st round draft pick. Calgary sends to Moscow Prague's S87 1st Round Pick. The S86 draft came to follow as players were picked and the S85 off season comes to an end. S86 training camp came abruptly afterwards, with the Calgary Wranglers S86 line up taking shape. The Calgary Wranglers look to ice 4 Centers, along with 1 Right Winger and 1 Left Winger, 4 defensemen, and 2 goaltenders. C Sax Justice @Eso, D Phil Strasmore @Phil, D Marcel Janser @Morcar80, and G Ben Dahl @Ben return for the Wranglers for S86, along with the previously aforementioned stars and trade pickups. The Calgary Wranglers opening night line up looks to be like so. Landon Wolanin - Daniel Janser - Sax Justice Omi Aberg - Leandro Goncalves - Bob Vladovechsenkchushkin AirRig GoodBrandSun - Phil Strasmore Logain Ablar - Marcel Janser Ben Dahl Karl Pedersen [Total Word Count: 849] jRuutu, Daniel Janser, DollarAndADream and 2 others 5 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/129877-calgary-wranglers-off-season-and-season-86-preview/ Share on other sites
