Hits = dispossession of the puck. That means a chance to retrieve the puck. One of the more effective ways to regain possession so I would strongly disagree with your statement. Quite often in STHS you throw a hit and the loose puck is retrieved by the same team that took the hit from what I've seen. HIT does not = puck possession.
