1. What is the best way to celebrate a big victory?

A long rest because I am often tired.

2. Which cities do you want to see in the VHLE?

I'd like to see Berlin, Paris, Rome, Stockholm, and a less prevalent city, hopefully Tallin

3. What is the best part of being in the VHL?

The locker room chats.

4. What is your favorite playoff meal?

A nice rous with squash, pumpkin seeds, and country ham.

5. What is the most exciting sport to watch?

Hockey of course

6. We are having olympics this summer! Will you watch it?

Yes I will.

1. Trade deadline is coming soon and we have a few phantoms planning to retire, what do you have to say to them?

Answer:

Spoiler

As always a team is only as good as players as whole so that being said any player that has brought Prague as team success will fully be missed. It has been a pleasure on and off the ice playing with such respectable players. Thanks for making the transition to the VHL from the VHLM easier and thanks for all the teaching moments even if I think I still have a lot to learn from these players before I am successful in the league. Good Luck in retirement and hope to see you around the locker room in the future.

2. We started the season strong, then got some bad sims in the middle and now we seems to be back in strength, how do you feel about it?

Answer:

Spoiler

We are hot and we are cold, we change our minds like girls change clothes ............ Oh, yeah what was the question again? Happens every season as Bouchard (myself) is a streaky, not in the take the clothes off type of why but more from a point scoring aspect. He scores around 1.25-1.5 points per game before going cold and fulling under a point per game. He seems to disappear when everyone else has success. We always rebound as we push towards the play-offs but one of these seasons it might catch us out.

3. How wrong has been your playoffs predictions so far?

Answer:

Spoiler

Boom!! Blow up that bracket as I think I only have one team left that I predicted would make it this far and I expected them to lose this round but to Boston instead of the Islanders. I am happy in some ways as I like unpredictability of the Play-offs as I didn't have Dallas in the finals last season either (even had to look up who Tampa beat last season). It once again shows that the regular season doesn't really mean anything when the play-offs start and anyone has an actually chance. I want to see Islanders and Montreal in the finals but I am done predicting who is going to win anything at the moment. Much like the VHL Fantasy predictions I am always wrong now!!

4. What is the best ice cream flavor?

Answer:

Anything Ice cream!! LOL!! Is there any really bad flavors; as I write that I remember I am in Japan and they have some weird flavors like green tea and sesame. Weird looking one is Black sesame.

1. What is the best way to celebrate a big victory?

  Answer:
Spoiler

Depends on what the victory is over. If we are talking like a grudge victory over another person then the best way to celebrate is usually with the good old I told you so and you should never doubt me again celebration followed by a nice cold cool beer (or many) either with or without the person that you just personally beat. If with the person you beat then try to explain as humbly as possible as you drink your beer why you were always going to win, how you won and why they should never doubt you even further. But being careful here as they will try now to get you to commit to another event while you might not be in the best state of mind due to the flow of brew so don’t commit to anything as it could turn out badly even if under normal stances you would once again win easily. This isn’t the time as remember you are champion in the middle of your celebration and pissing contest are best done at this moment at the urinal.

Team Championship are basically the same as above but you don’t need to explain anything or invite the other team around when you have your brews. Enjoy, relax and talk about the glory of the journey to winning that Championship as a group. Then take a long well deserved vacation to clear your head, heal your body and slowly start to get ready for the next season or game. From me my location is the a hot tube on deck in the mountains with brew in hand, where I can enjoy the views of both types of mountains that surely one will see as they sit in hot tube. (sadly some of them are nicer to look at then others)

2. Which cities do you want to see in the VHLE?

  Answer:

Spoiler

Smartass answer would be European teams!! Hey!! Hey!! More semi realistic answer would be anywhere the women are cute or sexy. Yeah!! Okay, Seriously I don’t think the location of team really matters that much as it will matter more about the team overall structure from management, locker room and how they team overall performs on the ice but if I had to pick some locations then I am looking at the follow: Paris, Rome, Turku (adding another Finish team), Berlin, Dublin, Stockholm, and Riga (as we now they really need a pro team),

3. What is the best part of being in the VHL?

  Answer:
Spoiler

They people that you meet as we all come from different parts of the world having one common interest which is hockey so it is interesting learning a little by little about each individual behind the actually player but I also guess this is why a lot of managers quit as well since once you become discounted from the group within the VHL it becomes very hard to reconnect. When I first started it was about trying to be better then everyone in my draft class but now I am not too concerned about what others are doing TPE wise but rather what I am (my player is) doing and how the team is doing overall.

While I don’t think I have the time for it I think becoming an AGM or GM would bring more connection to the league since you would be forced to look after different aspect of a team and not just your own player. Like this week is trade deadline yet sadly as a player it is just another ho hum day.

4. What is your favourite playoff meal?

  Answer:

Spoiler

I actually don’t know. I was going to give the generic answer of spaghetti but that isn’t really my go to meal before a game. I really don’t remember what I used to eat before a big game as actually I think I ate very little due to being a nervous, full of energy type of player so if I ate too much or anything heavy it was more likely to come right back up anyways. So I think I would eat bananas, oranges while sipping water, Gatorade and a coffee. My big meal on game day was always eaten just after Lunch time between 1-2pm, which was either a streak with mashed potatoes (which cold make you sleepy) Which was followed by a nap until 3 or 3:30pm before heading to the rink three hours before warm at 7pm. I would eat my dinner or snacks after getting dressed as I tried to focus but also relax before warm-up. Taking in extra fluids; water and Gatorade and sipping the coffee to relax. I also did this during intermissions, half a banana, half a orange and sip coffee. ( I am calling it coffee but it was most likely a French Vanilla or English toffee from Tim Horton, the old extra large cup or now the large. Slow drink through out the game during the intermissions always leave a little bit at the bottom in case of overtime. This sucked in the play-offs as trainer would need to make a run to Tim Horton if we went more then one over-time period. Luckily in QMJHL Tim Horton wasn’t far from the rink if not even in the rink. I even remember a situation where I was lined up in my goal gear to get my coffee in the visitors’ rink, I think it was Moncton. Everyone was looking at me funnily and asking if I was playing that night. Wasn’t the smartest idea but I needed my fix!! LOL!

5. What is the most exciting sport to watch?

  Answer:
Spoiler

This can be any sport really as it comes down to what is on the line and if you have any invested interest in the one or both of the teams playing or event taking place. F1 and racing can be really exciting even when it really isn’t that exciting. Take the drama in Brazil when Massa thought he had won the championship as he won the race and Hamilton was dead in the water but then both Toyota had stayed out on dry tires in wet condition and lost almost 4seconds during the final lap and even went off track a few times handing places to Hamilton; just enough to give him the Championship. Or even Rosberg & Hamilton tile fight. It was really boring race if you look back on it but Hamilton needed to win and Rosberg needed third or higher so Hamilton back Rosberg up into the slow cars hoping for either one of them to over take Rosberg or crash into taking him out of the race, It was nail biting even though in the end nothing happened since gentleman agreements where respected by the other drivers that state that you don’t get involved in a championship fight. So even though they could have passed Rosberg or attempted it was unsporting to do so.

In the end Hockey play-offs are the most exciting as each game is an up and down roller coaster, where the teams hammer on each other for 60+ mins hoping to win a single game, knowing that they have to do this at least three more time to win a series and sixteen more times to win the cup. Nothing matters except winning that night.

6. We are having Olympics this summer! Will you watch it?

Answer:

Spoiler

Will be forced to watch since Olympics are in my back yard so I can assume every channel here in Japan will be broadcasting. Three years they have been playing the dam theme song for this Olympics so I cannot not wait for them to end so that I don’t have to hear about planting seeds by throwing them up in the air and allowing the seeds to grow into a beautiful flower and why don’t you come a play with me and grow with me as the flower bloom and grow.

1. What is the best way to celebrate a big victory?

Nice meal of some sorts and some kind of fun activity with the whole team being involved!

2. Which cities do you want to see in the VHLE?

I would like to see a Finnish city, Tampere for example.

3. What is the best part of being in the VHL?

You get to try different players and roleplay.

4. What is your favorite playoff meal?

Pasta and meat. I could eat pasta and meat at leats once every single day.

5. What is the most exciting sport to watch?

Hockey or football when both teams are actively trying to score by being active.

6. We are having olympics this summer! Will you watch it?

Perhaps! Depends on when they will show those olympics in television. If it's in middle of the night or late, then maybe not, but I'm sure I will at least read some news and watch highlights, etc.

6. Who is the most underrated NHL player?

1. I don't think so but they should be able to abuse the flat cap and get teams to move some bad contracts for lucrative prices. Should be competitive quick and maybe more sustainably.

2. I assume the next team goes to Houston as a major metropolitan area and the southern states have done well in recent years so I assume if ever there was a time to enter that market it would be soon. Bring back the Aeros? Something space themed at least.

3. Canadian A&W or Subway. Both have a consistently good menu and decent prices.

4. Just finished New Girl and loved it also recently watched Deathnote and that was really good. Can't really nail down a favourite.

5. They're calling the games exactly as the NHL wants them to, they're managing the games instead of calling the penalties. It sucks to watch but I doubt it will change.

6. Poor timing on this answer but it has to be Mark Stone right? He's one of the best play drivers in the league and a menace in the neutral zone. A true 2-way player who is a star on both ends of the ice.

3.) Depends, i'm partial to Taco Bell and Burger 21.

6.) I would have to say my boy Bo Horvat but I am definately biased.

1. Do you think Seattle (NHL) will manage to get a competitive team in their first season like Las Vegas did?
  Answer:

Spoiler

Yes, But I am expecting a lot of players selected to be either traded or traded back for draft picks or prospects. The problem with selecting the team is trying to make the team competitive this season while keeping an eye out for the future. When I first selected the team I went with best players available before realizing that we also have to consider contracts for 2021-22, with 20 contracts must be selected. This really changes who is available, as a lot of the team have purposely not signed players to extensions so that the players don’t need to be protected. This real limits the players that you can select.

Team I selected:

Spoiler

So when I mock drafted my team I started with Tender as this will determine if you are going to be competitive right away. So me the choice came down to whom I would like to be my starter this coming season while looking to have future mileage out of this tender. So it really came down between Holtby and Allen as the most likely selected starting tenders as most other interesting options either being RFA or UFA. As of writing this I am still going back and forth if I should take Holtby as my starter for at least one season or take Allen for three. I am not taking both due to contracts. Either way I also looked to add future tenders so I also grabbed Montembeault from Florida (RFA) and Fitzpatrick from St Louis (RFA) as the tenders for the future. I would also consider grabbing De Smith from Pittsburgh as he is the same age, under contract and would make a good back-up to Allen or Holtby. In this case I grabbed Hill from Arizona

Tenders selected:

·      Holtby or Allen (Allen or Lehkonen)

·      De Smith or Hill (RFA) (De Smith or McCann)

·      Fitzpatrick (RFA)

·      Montembeault (RFA)

Defence: being forced to select nine of them really sucked and it was harder then I expected since I ended up selecting ten defenders with at least four of them needing to be traded for prospects and picks. The two key pick up for me were Dumba from Minnesota and De Haan from Chicago. Also pick Ghost from Philadelphia but will look to move him as he doesn’t fit my views for the Defence. Also selected Maatta from LA, Graves from Colorado, Sekera from Dallas (will try to move or dump), Fleury from Anaheim, Dermott from Toronto, Bean from Carolina and Mete from Ottawa. The last four expected to play fifth and six defender pairing

Defenders selected:

·      Dumba                       De Haan

·      Maatta                       Graves

·      Fleury                        Dermott

Minors

·      Bean (RFA)

·      Mete (RFA)

Trade away for prospects:

·      Gostisbehere

·      Sekera

Forwards: was a lot harder due to needing contracts so I took some players that I wouldn’t have normally taken like Ladd from the Islanders. I also have question around M-NTC since I thought they had to be protected but most seem not to be protected thus available to be selected. It would also make it harder to select the team. I tried to balance immediate being competitive with futures when it came to the forwards more then anywhere else. Selected sixteen forwards with no really need to trade any of them based on what I see as I selected a few for future consideration that could develop faster and move up into the line-up

Forwards:

·      Ladd                                       Backlund                               Johnston

·      Bjork                                      Lowry                                     Lehkonen

·      Cousins                                  McCann                                 Robinson

·      Panik                                      Lazar                                      Shore

Minors for further development:

·      Dahlen

·      Sprong

·      Howden

·      Merkley

2. If you could choose the next NHL expansion, where would it be and how would that team be named?

  Answer:

Spoiler

This one isn’t even close as Quebec City would the choice without much thought but I would also like to see more of Canada get teams. Halifax would be an interesting option after Quebec City and then maybe Saskatoon but Saskatoon might be hard sell based on population alone.

3. What is the best fast food restaurant?

Answer:

Spoiler

Depends on what you haven’t had in a long time. Sadly McDonald ranks up there since it has a worldwide presence and Burger King. I miss Tim Hortons the most though living in Japan. They did have one in Tokyo but I am not sure it is still there or not. Wendy’s was my favorite when in Canada.

4. What is your favorite TV series?
  Answer:

Spoiler

I was watching GOT and West world before I came to Japan but Japanese TV sucks so I really cannot say that I spend a lot of time watching TV here. Which is why I am part of the league.

 5. What do you think of the refs drama in the NHL lately?

Answer:

Spoiler

Meh, Happens every year as they are told to control the flow of the games and actually try to add the series going longer as the NHL makes more money. Remember they are selected for each round and are paid $18,000 - $22,000 per round on top of the $120,000 - $250,000 for the season. So being selected is huge for the different crews as they can make upwards of $66,000 for the Conference Finals and as much as $88,000 if they are selected for the Stanley Cup final. So it isn’t very likely that they aren’t missing calls on purpose or aren’t making those extra calls without much thought as too much is on the line for them in the way of salary.

6. Who is the most underrated NHL player?
Answer:

Spoiler

Someone that I don’t know about but put up a ton of points this season. I actually would say a lot of the players tend to be over-rated rather then under-rated. I think it would be between Alex De Brincat and Mark Stone; with heavy leaning towards De Brincat.

Dougie Hamilton as defender doesn’t get much love even though he was top ten in defender scoring and a plus 20 meaning he was positive player majority of the time he was on the ice rather then a negative presence.

Tender wise I don’t like his style but he is an very effective tender in Anton Khudobin and Jake Allen doesn’t get the respect he deserves for the job he did in St Louis and this season in Montreal. Clearly should be an starter or at least a 1A/1B option for a team.

6. Do you think its better to build a team with good trades and good signing or building it with the draft over a few years?

1. I think so. He's the best Phantom to ever play in this uniform. The things he's done for the franchise in terms of legitimacy and his own personal achievements is more than enough.

2. I love the outdoors but arena hockey is like nothing else. The atmosphere, the smell... Everything about it is great.

3. Ever? Or currently? There's a few guys like Burns, Quinn, Bowman, Quennville, the list goes on. Right now though I have to go with Jon Cooper.

4. I hope that I can say Kyle Dubas one day but with the current goings on gotta give respect to briseboise.

5. I really really hope not. I loved seeing jumbo wearing the blue and white. I know he's up there in age but I think there's unfinished business

6. I'd say the draft. Although it's hard to know how players will transition to the next level. To have longevity in winning you have to be able to draft well. You can't sell the future for the present unless you're literally that one single piece away from a cup contender.

1. Do you think Thomas Landry II deserve to be on the HOF?

Answer:

Spoiler

I am sorry to say that I don't know enough about the league to know how Landry II stacks up compared to the other around the league that have made the HOF. He has been a great if not the greatest player for Prague and regardless of the HOF should be happy with what he has accomplished. If I had a vote I would consider him an HOF.

2. Do you prefer outdoor hockey or arena hockey?

Answer:

Spoiler

Arena Hockey. I like playing outdoors as well but the competition is too hard to predict and ranges wildly.

3. Who is the best NHL coach in your opinion?

Answer:

Spoiler

No such thing as the best coach. All the coaches in the NHL are very good students of the game and have a great ability to teach what they learn to their players. They all have different systems that either work with their players abilities or they don't. Coaches that I think are above some of the others in the current abilities of player management: Dominique Ducharme, Joel Quenneville, Alain Vigneault and Gerard Gallant

4. Who is the best NHL GM?

Answer:

Spoiler

Again there is no such thing as the best GM in the NHL as they are judge to only as good as their current roster and there last transactions. Here are the ones that have stood for me as very good GM's: Doug Armstrong, Ron Francis, Doug Wilson and Chuck Fletcher

5. Do you think Joe Thornton played his last NHL game?

Answer:

Spoiler

Yes, at the age of 42, I think he will have a hard time coming back for another season as he is no longer an impact player or really even a depth option.

6. Do you think its better to build a team with good trades and good signing or building it with the draft over a few years?

Answer:

Spoiler

Love this question as it all depends on the current state of the team when I take over the role as an GM. If we have core pieces in place then I would be forced to look at trades and signing to strength the team (aka Oilers). Now if we have a weak core (Buffalo) then I am more likely to build through the draft while collecting key depth pieces to help develop the youth I acquire via the trade. I would also be looking to move out any cancer players that I have on my current roster that might be hurting the team moving forward. Character of players matter just as much as skill of the players if you are going to win. (In the case of Buffalo I would gut most of the team looking for assets that could help longer term and short term)

1. Do you think Thomas Landry II deserve to be on the HOF?

I think so, especially with the cup we win for him now ;) Great numbers and he is a Prague legend.

2. do you prefer outdoor hockey or arena hockey?

Both are cool. Playing around outside when sun is shining, rather nice experience, but then again ice quality might be a problem, arena has that covered.

3. Who is the best NHL coach in your opinion?

I have no idea, maybe the Tampa coach.

4. Who is the best NHL GM?

Jarmo Kekäläinen! Need to show some love for the Finnish hitman

5. Do you think Joe Thornton played his last NHL game?

Could be, I'm sure he could still find a team somewhere, but from a cup favorite or a team that has solid odds early on? Maybe not as likely. He could retire or just wait until the deadline if there are injuries, etc that will open him a chance in a top team.

6. Do you think its better to build a team with good trades and good signing or building it with the draft over a few years?

Nice balance of both. Drafting well is always a good idea as eventually those drafted players will make players from other teams want to join the team.

1. Last weekend, we made a trade with Seattle that brought Venus Thightrap to Prague, any word to say about that?

I like the bolstering the forward core in the absence of Landry. Hopefully we're still good so that the 81 1st doesn't bite us.

2. Did you watch the new movie ''Black Widow''? If yes, is it any good?

I didn't watch it.

3. What is the top 3 teams in Europe for S79 in your opinion?

Warsaw, Riga, Prague

4. If you would have the task to design Prague's mascot, what would it be and what name would it have?

The phantom of the Ice House.

5. Your player arrived late at a practice, what is his/her excuse?

Horrible traffic.

6. What do you think is the key to success in the VHL?

Consistent updating. That and luck

Meh.. she's kind of selfish.

3. What is the top 3 teams in Europe for S79 in your opinion?

Warsaw, Prague, London probably in that order.

4. If you would have the task to design Prague's mascot, what would it be and what name would it have?

Probably be petey the phantom, would be old school. Have a white sheet and cover him.

5. Your player arrived late at a practice, what is his/her excuse?

Too busy eating cake.

6. What do you think is the key to success in the VHL?

Activity, without it you're not really going to progress at a fast pace.

Hey, this is my last presser in Prague as I just got a GM job, its now time to pass the torch to our new AGM @benaky who will do pressers for the next weeks!

1. An easy one, Ben has just been named AGM of the Phantoms, what is your thought about it?

2. Are you satisfied with our S79 draft selections?

3. We could really use some help at defense, do you think its something that will hurt us a lot if we can't find someone?

4. I've seen some guys putting us as the victory cup winner in their predictions, are you confident about the coming season?

5. What is your thought about Carey Price being unprotected by the habs? (this is bullshit!!! Yes I'm mad about it)

6. We are at the middle of the summer season, do you think autumn arrive too fast?

I know I’m technically a season early on this but I’m still not in the Ottawa locker room quite yet so I’m nabbing this presser while I get that figured out.

1. An easy one, Ben has just been named AGM of the Phantoms, what is your thought about it?

We are both new to this program so hopefully we can both settle and help this team do good things this season.

2. Are you satisfied with our S79 draft selections?

Hey that’s me! Definitely highly satisfied 10/10 would be drafted again.

3. We could really use some help at defense, do you think its something that will hurt us a lot if we can't find someone?

Something something best defense is a good offense. We just need to keep it in our game plans and make sure that we backcheck hard and get back on defense to help them out a little bit.

4. I've seen some guys putting us as the victory cup winner in their predictions, are you confident about the coming season?

I’m on the sidelines this season but I will certainly be putting my money where my draft pick is so I am certainly confident in what I’ve seen from this team so far.

5. What is your thought about Carey Price being unprotected by the habs? (this is bullshit!!! Yes I'm mad about it)

I think it’s a calculated risk for the front office. There is a lot of exposed veteran goaltending and they are hoping that their name doesn’t get called to pay.

6. We are at the middle of the summer season, do you think autumn arrive too fast?
Never enough summer honestly. It’s almost gone and I still don’t have my beach bod!

I like the assignation.

2. Are you satisfied with our S79 draft selections?

Absolutely.

3. We could really use some help at defense, do you think its something that will hurt us a lot if we can't find someone?

It will hurt us in the playoffs but the regular season should be fine. Europe is pretty weak.

4. I've seen some guys putting us as the victory cup winner in their predictions, are you confident about the coming season?

I'm confident though I think la or Chicago takes the victory cup.

5. What is your thought about Carey Price being unprotected by the habs? (this is bullshit!!! Yes I'm mad about it)

I get what their going for as it would either take a bad contract off the team or have them keep a good duo.

6. We are at the middle of the summer season, do you think autumn arrive too fast?

It is arriving way to fast.
