Kinda underwhelming since I couldn't meet with extended family but pretty chill nonetheless.  We didn't have thanksgiving dinner until like Saturday though.

Not much.  Just enjoy the holiday spirit, spend time with those that I can spend time with, try not to get covid, and get myself something nice.

 

3. Who is the best prospect on the team right now?

I'll go with L.  Christian Mingle too, though, if he still counts.

I don't know about other people but I generally like to stop the shot.

 

5. What channel would you add to the locker room?

I think a #music channel would be fun, esp considering the spotify wrapped stuff came out recently (mine was embarrassingly basic).  It'd be nice to chat about music with my teammates.

1. I'm Canadian, but just try and stop me! In October, I had a lovely turkey dinner with my wife and two kids, my sister-in-law, her husband, and their son, and my mother-in-law. As usual I was the drunkest person there.

2. Christmas and Boxing Day we have big dinners planned (big as in quantity of food, not big as in number of attendees, there is a pandemic going on after all). Other than that, playing with the kids and their new toys, getting day-drunk while listening to Bing Crosby, and not going to work.

4. Fake shot, deke to the backhand, try to shoot above the pad but under the blocker. 

5. Well, in the Boise Raptors locker room in the PBE I managed to get a #horse-porn channel added, but I'm not sure if Chicago is ready for it.

6. To tell you the truth, no idea. I don't follow the top league standings at all (and I barely even follow the standings of the league I'm in). 

7. Switzerland and Scotland are both places that I would absolutely love to visit.

1. Playing center is great because you get to do some of everything. You're the only person ever taking faceoffs. You cover a lot of ground, forechecking, neutral zone, coming back deep in the defensive zone, covering the front of the net if the defenseman have gone into the corner or behind the goal. Battling for the puck in the offensive and defensive corners.

2. You have to be a great skater and have great awareness, so it's pretty challenging.

3. I wish we had a "graphical" sim engine, so that you could "watch" the games, kind of like PBE does with OOTP.

4. I think we could turn any town/city into a party, so somewhere that has some unique geography or history. Maybe go fishing in Montana or something.

5. Only if you like trash talk, grammatical errors, and occasional public nudity.

6. If you're the one asking, then obviously it's gotta be you.

1. Defense, and specifically offensive defensemen, are cool because they're able to switch between guarding their own net and pushing the other team's. I like the versatility.

2. A defensive player's goal is to reduce the amount of shots that the goaltender has to face. That means that, in the defense position, you're the last line of skaters before you make the goalie face the puck. It can be a lot of pressure, but having a good goaltender is a plus!

1. I kinda wanna hear your answer for this?? I think right now it's Bek because he's the one who posted the gender-inclusivity announcement, but that could easily change at any time. 

2. Warsaw has had a solid couple of seasons. They've got some good folks over there, like Dakota Lamb, who Socks played with in Miami. 

3. tbh probably you. I feel like you'd roll up with either the fuckshittiest gift or you'd have some brilliant idea that was absolutely outrageous. Regardless, I think your contribution would be the most notable.

4. No, not everyone celebrates Christmas!! Probably the same thing I do when it's not holiday time?? I dunno what to do with myself when I'm not in school, I just work, I guess.

5. My player would never be a professional wrestler. If he were, it'd be because he got pulled in out of the crowd bc they didn't have enough participants.

1. It's between Beav and Quik and I can't choose

2. London. They've got a great future ahead with a great pool of prospects. McWolf really did great in drafts and I can't wait to see how they turn out

I'd say Victor.  I like all of those four but I feel like I know/get along with Victor the best of them.  Being teammates with Quik has been cool though, since we didn't really interact with each other before.

Warsaw.  I like Muff.  Also Ajay Krishna is a beast and a marbles legend.

I feel like either it'd either be gorlab or fishy - it's 50/50 on gorlab, but I feel like there's a possibility he'd just decide to say fuck it and spend a lot of money, while I think fishy would probably come up with some kind of creative theme.  Unless my reads are completely wrong on both of your personalities lmao.

 

4) Do you think VHL should take a few days off over Christmas? What would you do with your sim league holiday time?

I'm not completely against the idea, but I feel like this year with COVID and all, it's not like there are many festivities or anything.  It's not like other years where people might be spending time with extended family or making a trip.

 

5) If your VHL player were a professional wrestler, what would they look/act like? Would they be a hero or villain?

I imagine JP Camus would probably act a lot like present-day Sami Zayn.  Other than that, it's hard to say what he'd be like as far as moveset or look.

That's really tough, honestly.  I think they all can look nice.  I guess maybe I would say yellow?  Just purely by process of elimination.  

 

2. Why did you choose your username?

To be completely honest, it's really random and isn't particularly significant to me.  For a while I used lightning25 as my username (older members will probably remember me as this) but at some point I kind of got tired of it - partially because I came up with it when I was like twelve, also partially because I was using it here and I thought it was weird to have "lightning" in my name on a hockey forum and not be a Tampa Bay Lightning fan.  So I just kinda put a bunch of words into Google Translate into random languages until I found something that I liked.  I ended up with Solas, which is the Gaelic word for "light".  The word basically means nothing to me but I like how it sounds so I've stuck with it for, like, at least five years now.   Also, fun fact: it seems like whenever I hear someone say it out loud, they pronounce it differently than I would.  Maybe it's an accent thing.

 

3. What's something you don't do often but really enjoying doing?

Ooh, that's a tough question.  I would probably say playing sports?  Since graduating from school I've never really competed in many sports.  Especially soccer, I've wanted to play soccer again for a long time and just never got to it.

 

4. If you had to have one of your fingers removed, which one would you choose? Why???

I guess I would go with my pinky?  I imagine it would be the easiest to live without.  It would probably be pretty weird to have an extra-large gap in between two of your fingers.  While I am right-handed, I would probably remove the pinky on my right hand, as I use the pinky on my left hand for typing (yes, I did only notice that because I'm typing right now).

 

5. What December holiday(s) do you you recognize? How are you celebrating this year?

Christmas.  I'm not at all religious but I've celebrated it every year anyways.  My birthday is Christmas Eve so usually there's a sort of overlap there when we celebrate.  With COVID there's not really much to do so there's not much to do other than open gifts and do a zoom call with my extended family.

 

6. What is your favorite thing about yourself today?

I guess I would say my hair?  A customer complimented my haircut at work today so I'm feeling pretty good about that since my self-confidence usually isn't too high.

1. Seems like a weird thing to have a least favourite colour, but I’ll go with mauve? Idk it’s got a weird name. 
 

2. I was like 13 and made my username Quiksilver for the first sim league I joined, think I was going thru a skater phase lol. Shortened it to Quik and it’s just stuck

 

3. Cooking elaborate meals. Too time consuming to do regularly, but great on certain occasions. 

 

4. My right ring finger. Seems like the least necessary one, I think. 
 

5. Christmas. At home with my fiancée. Was quite nice just being the two of us rather than going to all the family houses.
