S74 Offseason RavenSkill Development Report:

Presented By Lucas Tallinder

Hello everyone! It is so nice to be back with all of our new and returning clients this summer. Everyone has been working hard and having a great time doing it. We’d like to now put the spotlight on these players and highlight their development as of late.

It’s been a long offseason. For some, that has meant focusing on an overhaul of their game, while others are simply looking to improve on their strengths. We were extremely happy with the turnout this time around, and hope you all enjoyed your stay in Stockholm.

Without further ado, let’s get into the reason you’re all here! Here is our S74 Offseason Report, brought to you by RavenSkill Development!

(S74) ONDE SANDSTROM | RW | VANCOUVER WOLVES @fonziGG

Why not start with our Continental Cup champion, Onde Sandstrom? Our fellow Swede is making waves as an electric and rambunctious rookie. He is relentless in pursuit of the puck, throwing hits and causing turnovers whenever at all possible. Sandstrom has shown flashes of offensive brilliance as well, and will only continue to grow in this area; This is exemplified in the large amount of time and effort he has dedicated to his puck handling skills at our facilities this offseason.

Objectively speaking, it is only a matter of time before this player becomes a real star in the VHL. He is earning 10-12 capped TPE every week, and an abundance of uncapped TPE as well. This is a fantastic physical winger who could seriously fight for the Scott Boulet Trophy for many seasons to come.

(S72) JAMES ROSE | D | LONDON UNITED @MattyIce

Next up, we move on to the player who provided us with our new name. James Rose has really turned out to be one of the steals in a deep S72 draft class. Following an 8th overall selection in the S73 Expansion Draft, Rose has blossomed into one of the hottest young names in the league. With 131 points in 144 games to start off his career, he is clearly on the trajectory of superstardom.

With London acquiring Hugh Jass and Erik Killinger, as well as Kasper Kankkunen moving up from the VHLM, Rose is heading into a new era of United hockey this season. These moves will undoubtedly have some effect on his production, but it’s hard to say how. On one hand, his ice time will likely decrease, yet the quality of his linemates will increase. This change of scenery around the young defenseman will be great for him regardless, as he will still be a key cog in a potentially contending team at the end of the day.

James Rose caps out every week, and he does not shy away from uncapped opportunities either. This offseason has been a complete shift of focus for the young defender, and he has been putting in the work for sure. Rose rerolled his TPE, most notably prioritizing scoring and defense this time around. He is extremely active on both discord and the forums, providing content for VSN Scouting too. This is a high quality player and member.

(S75) RYAN RYKER | RW | MIAMI MARAUDERS @Jayrad28

Next, we take a look at the man who just got drafted! Ryker was chosen with the 43rd overall selection, a spot that will prove to be much lower than his value indicates. On a struggling Houston team this season, he put up 29 goals, which was 12 more than the next closest teammate.

I really like the future Bear’s build. He is a balanced offensive threat, and plays responsible defensively as well. He is notably physical, but it does not define his game. Essentially, he is a player who can play on any line, with any strategies, and still succeed. If you’re a coach, you want a player like Ryker on your team.

Earning a solid 8-10 capped TPE per week, the young Canadian has established a perfectly maintainable TPE earning rate, and one that will bring him considerable success. Look out for him to become one of the S75 Draft’s most high value picks at 43.

(S76) RED LITE | RW | SAN DIEGO MARLINS @Tate

Our next player to cover is the one who is eligible for the next VHL draft! Red Lite is a franchise-altering talent that currently sits atop his draft class in TPE. He put up a respectable 7 points in 19 games with Philadelphia last season, but expect him to greatly exceed those totals in S75 following a 13th overall selection in the VHLM Dispersal Draft.

Lite has capped out every week since creating, collecting quite a bit of uncapped TPE in addition. This is a winger that you can build an entire offensive unit around. Similar to Tate’s last player, Red Lite is an exceptional puck handler. He also has an impressive release, and is deadly when he gets anywhere near the net. Look out for him in the upcoming draft, where he is bound to be one of the top picks. He will likely be putting up huge numbers in the VHLM this season, so you won't need to look too hard to find him.

(S72) SPENCER ELSBY | D | HELSINKI TITANS @Spence King

Now it’s time to take a look at our other Continental Cup finalist, Spencer Elsby. After an outstanding S74, Elsby is looking to build on that performance and cement himself among the VHL’s top defenders.

At RavenSkill camp this offseason, Spencer has been working on getting stronger and protecting the puck. He has also seen a slight overall boost in the other areas of his game. He had a slight dip in TPE production a few weeks ago, but has gotten back on track with an impressive 48 TPE in his last 2 weeks. He is also third in uncapped TPE among the S72 class, which is quite encouraging to see in his development.

To lay out a basic summary of his game, Spencer Elsby is an all-situations defenseman who can quarterback a powerplay and offer a lethal one-timer to the unit's arsenal. He is able to separate opposing players from the puck in his own zone, and anticipate plays before they happen.

This is an important season defined by redemption for Spencer Elsby and the Titans, and only time will tell how it all plays out.

(S74) CHRIS REYNOLDS | LW | WARSAW PREDATORS @Crstats23

“This is a player that is reliable and very offensively gifted, so do not sleep on him before he lights up the minors in S74.”

Oh boy, did this statement in last season’s offseason report turn out to be true. Chris Reynolds would then go on to finish fifth in points, goals and assists in the VHLM that season. He has maintained a quality TPE earning rate, claiming a nice 12 TPE per week on most occasions.

He is preparing for an exciting rookie season with Warsaw, where he will likely have a chance to play on a line with other electric young forwards. I’m very intrigued to see how his season goes, and I think he has the potential to move up into a key role for the Predators pretty quickly because of how close the majority of the forwards are in TPA. I think this is a player who could continue to surprise, and who will have a good rookie season.

(S73) JIGGLY GUMBALLS | D | Los Angeles Stars @JigglyGumballs

After a commendable rookie campaign, defenseman Jiggly Gumballs has proven himself to be a force on the backend. He is steady defensively, and is remarkably proficient at moving the puck up the ice in the blink of an eye.

Gumballs caps out nearly every week, and is a high quality TPE earner overall. He has significantly developed his offensive abilities in the last season or so, adding a +12 to his scoring and +10 to his passing attribute since we looked at his build a season ago. His 178 hits and 153 shots blocked are a fantastic starting point in defensive stats, and this boost in offensive attributes will possibly lead to a breakout season in S75. He will surely have this opportunity, currently boasting the highest TPA among LA defensemen.

(S74) LEE XIN | RW | CHICAGO PHOENIX @Blazzer

Yet another rookie we have in this group, and it was a pretty great debut season for Lee Xin. His 45 points are a wonderful start to what is hopefully a long and successful career.

The Chicago winger and AGM is a max TPE earner, who has really blossomed in that area since first joining. Here is a quick visual to demonstrate Xin's growth in capped TPE earning, and the consistency that he has maintained since that growth.

9UVVMv68hJ4eqkAUaQOvhLg3uulTxer4aWOQLV8b5iZaV9HcY9AHCuetcmP-1figTmbVDcBD_uD5uuE3x-E2mF0ncZXSpt5DEHQ8lTOi2lNu98kwMXJadqYXCuK8Y3zRINg0JaQH

While 10 capped TPE is much more than serviceable, the weekly 12 TPE shows engagement and a commitment to earning the most TPE that you possibly can. There is not a shadow of doubt that Lee Xin is on the way to superstardom, and I’m just happy to be along for the ride.

(S72) ALEX LETANG | D | MOSCOW MENACE @Spartan

Earlier this season, I wrote an article about the significance of S75 for Alex Letang. With Pavlov retiring, it opened up a chance for him to step into a larger role. Here it is:

While that opportunity has diminished a bit because of the acquisition of Roque Davis, Letang can still have a huge season ahead of him. He improved substantially from his rookie season to his sophomore campaign, and could very well continue on that path into the top ranks of VHL defensemen.

Letang has still not missed one capped TPE since joining back in March, which is just incredible. On top of this, he is among the top uncapped TPE earners in his draft class. This is a player who is just scratching the surface, so look for him to become one of the VHL’s finest players shortly.

(S78) NILS TALLINDER | C | UNDRAFTED

My 15 year old brother, Nils, is still patiently waiting for the day he turns 16 and can sign in the VHLM. Nils has been continually working on his defensive game, which has become somewhat of an obsession lately. He was criticized for playing poor defense in his minor hockey years, and has really improved on it since then. I’m excited to see how he fares in the VHLM. Perhaps it will be a smooth transition, or maybe he struggles for a bit. Nevertheless, that day will come eventually. Now, let’s focus on my brother who is currently in the VHL.

(S69) PATRIK TALLINDER | LW | CALGARY WRANGLERS

Finally, we have Patrik Tallinder, and what a season he just had. His 127 points brought him the Mike Szatkowski Trophy, which was the highest point total by a single player since S63.

This offseason involved a blockbuster trade which sent him to Calgary, and he is absolutely thrilled to join this new group. He has talked extensively with some of his teammates, and already feels at home in the locker room. It was hard to leave Riga, but he is super excited to begin a new chapter in his career.

In terms of this offseason, he’s not changing anything. He’s found his game and wants to stick to it, because overthinking it could mess up the rhythm he has going right now. Hopefully he can prove that Calgary was right in picking him up from the Reign, and the Wranglers can make a serious run for the Continental Cup.

IN CONCLUSION

I want to thank all of our clients and friends, as we have had another fun and productive offseason in Stockholm. I’ll be watching plenty of games on TV, and I’m hoping to see you all do well in S75!

I’m really excited to welcome everyone back next offseason, and I will try to post more feature articles and newsletters during the season. I’ve really enjoyed hosting this program so far, and I hope everyone that was involved is enjoying the content we’re producing.

Thank you all, and have a great season!
