  1. Exactly. That said, still need a great goalie before you need a great defenceman.
  2. Goaltender is only the 2nd most important position.
  3. The league isn't ready.
  4. Today is probably draft day and in a pleasing turn of events I am still not 100% sure where I will end up. That is possibly the first time ever as even back in my first draft in S11, being a goalie, I think my possible destinations were quite limited. Since then it's been either GM players (Berger, Bentley) or my draft position was well known to me far in advance (Chershenko, Clegane). 2nd overall was the result of the latter two and could it be that again? Would certain work nice as an alliteration given the name Cast. However, I also deem this the least likeliest outcome, slightly beating out the also unlikely outcome of me going 1st overall. Ultimately, the sounds coming out of Seattle have been quite secretive while the sounds coming out of Quebec have been quite non-existent and while I think Bana is simply stirring up some draft anticipation and has already decided on his 1st overall pick (be it Gate or Thompson), at least he has been stirring it up a bit. I expect to end up at 3rd overall but would also not be surprised to fall to 4th - I'd say I rank the probabilities as 65/25, with the remaining 10% split between 1st and 2nd overall. That means my likeliest 2 destinations are Riga and Seattle which is great for 2 reasons - 1) I have never played for either franchise and 2) they together own half of the 1st round which should set them up very nicely to start the rebuild. Plus, while their teams will be god awful in S61 and Cast will go straight up to the VHL, that might well mean some very nice point totals in the rookie season. In summary, while pleased with any of the 3ish possible outcomes of the upcoming draft, I am especially pleased with the fact that this close to the draft there are still that many possible outcomes.

  6. Can add Ko Kane now too - didn't pick up player option.
  7. @Bushito I think you missed me off week 5 results but I definitely have a PM to you in that week! +1 TPE please thank you.
  8. 1. Just a smoothie like a true 2018 metrosexual. 2. Have to listen to at least 1 podcast every gameday morning, otherwise bad things will happen. 3. We're almost here and if I had to bet then it'd be 3rd overall to Riga. But, top 2 GMs have been hard to read so maybe higher. 4. Continental Cup, a few 100-point seasons, and hopefully enough to keep the HOF player streak going, but it won't be the end of the world if that doesn't happen. 5. Salt and vinegar.
  9. still got a decision to make!
  10. Quite a dilemma, wouldn't want to be a GM this draft. Although of course might be the easiest draft ever if everyone pans out.
  11. Lmao Helsinki will never die. Shades of S24-S34 NY.
  12. I remember that because CLEGANEBOWL

  14. 200 TPE squad woop woop
  15. Easily my favourite player, only one I could guarantee would elevate the attacking play of any team. Exactly for that reason is besf EFT untarnished.
  16. ooooh the plot thickens #BringVictorBackHome
  17. Two amazing pieces of news.
  18. We probably could have adapted the grammar section rather than get rid of the whole concept of grading entirely.

  20. I got into a discussion with @Tagger in my press conference yesterday: https://vhlforum.com/topic/48150-pod-cast-press-conference-pcpc/ (please ask questions I like answering them thank you) and I realised that there is a bit of a dark hole in my memory where Greg Clegane's career should have been. Granted, I remember quite vividly Clegane's specific successes and championships and I don't think I missed out on what was actually an absolute dream of a ride for a goaltender, but given there were at least 3 seasons in his career that I wasn't really massively active (S46, S50, S52), it's all a bit choppy and a bit blurry. This also spreads to the VHL in general during the 40s, with a few examples below: 1. I think some older players were more recent than they are Specifically I realised this when talking to Tagger as I thought Edwin Reencarnacion was on the NYA team around when I left but in reality he had moved onto Edwin Reencarnacion by then. I have a similar problem with Higgins' players - I always default to James Faraday being a recent player and seem to forget entirely about Black Velvet. More damningly... 2. I get confused with Frank and Brovy's Quebec players Both Matt Bentley (S35-S42) and Clegane (S45-S52) spent a brief time on Quebec and I get the 2 times very much mixed up. I am still fairly certain that Clegane's time in Quebec was with Aksel Thomassen and Bruno Wolf scoring at will, but in reality it was with Tom Lincoln and John Sleeman... not really scoring at will either. It doesn't help it was the exact same 2 members either. 3. I forget that I played for Helsinki Greg Clegane's both cups were won with the Titans but when I was recently recording a podcast about teams I'd like to get drafted to, I almost accidentally put Helsinki higher than I intended to because I briefly thought that I had never played for it. I suspect the reason for this is because when I was fully active, with Bentley and earlier with Chershenko, I was close to getting traded to the Titans and ended up on Quebec and NY instead. As those memories are fresher, I therefore continue assuming that I never quite made it to Finland. So that's that, I'm hoping they get a cure for Alzheimer's soon.
  21. As I pointed out here, I genuinely think grading was a huge benefit for people and good for activity. I miss 2010.
  22. Oh right no that makes sense, Reencarnacion was a 40s player wasn't he whooops. Truth be told I was gone after Clegane but anything after Bentley is a bit blurry.
  23. Good don't make us lose for nothing.
