  1. while that is true. but obviously if a team loses, it always isnt because of the best players fault. Crosby has been getting two points a game, true but if his team loses and he gets these two points and plays his game finishes even or even a plus, is it his fault the team loses? no its the support players. I just believe Duchene, Giroux, Thornton, Seguin are better support than Nash.
  2. with that being said. Switch Nash with Carter. Nash has not at all played well this year. Sure he had a concussion but upon return, he has not played well at all. Boy if Canada shits the bed...
  3. Rick Nash over Giroux, Seguin etc. i dont like that at all
  4. im salivating at the Pietrangelo-Doughty pairing. that just tickles me pink.
  5. My last MS which lead to this *http://vhlsim.invisionzone.com/index.php?/topic/2993-we-hef-to-enjoy-the-little-things-you-know/* As I left you guys in my last MS, I thought it was appropriate to leave you guys after talking about the pre-draft trades, now I will tell you guys about who went where and after the draft trades and happenings. 1st Round - 1st Overall - Goaltender Robert Sharpe With the 1st overall pick in the first ever draft, many believe it was between both Robert Sharpe and Scotty Campbell. At the time, you couldn't go wrong with either of them. You could build from the net out or build around a centerman. The Tigers chose the first route, but in hindsight they should have went with building around Mr. Campbell. 1st Round - 2nd overall - Center Scotty Campbell Was this ever a godsend for the Vasteras IK franchise? They got arguably the best player ever to lace up a pair of skates in Scotty Campbell. Not much more needs to be said other than what a shrewd job Lucas Tannahill did by trading up to the 2nd overall draft pick. 1st Round - 3rd Overall - Defenseman Jeff Downey Talk about your off the board draft selections eh? GM Jay Bris must have had some talks with Downey and Downey must have one hell of an agent to get his draft stock to 3rd overall. He was not third overall worthy but he was serviceable must like Rostislav Klesla going 4th overall back in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. 1st Round - 4th Overall - Center Alex Gegeny After the first two draft picks were made, the rest of the draft was really a crapshoot. Many people didn't know who would go where after the first two. I think this was a really solid draft selection by GM Zach Crosby. Although I think he should have been kept a bit longer than a season (more details to come). 1st Round - 5th overall - Right Winger Alex Watson Mr. Alex Watson has the notion of being the first winger ever to be drafted in the history of the VHL. He also was a very import piece to any teams that wanted him. He reminds me of Scott Hartnell, both drafted pretty high and both never put up numbers that blew you away. 1st Round - 6th overall - Left Winger Scott Boulet With the 6th overall pick GM Brett Slobodzian selected Scott Boulet, The two had instant chemistry. Boulet was so good at both ends of the ice that he has the Scott Boulet Trophy named after him for the forward who exemplifies strong defensive abilities as well as offensive ones. 1st Round - 7th overall - Goaltender Maxim Desny Talk about outplaying the other goaltender that was drafted ahead of you. Desny proved to the whole VHL that he should have been selected higher than his 7th overall selection. You can find his stats and whatnot in the HoF section in the VHL. 1st Round - 8th Overall - Defenseman David Night Last but not least in the 1st round is David Night. He is also in the HoF and definitely showed he is arguably the best defenseman from this Dispersal draft crop of players. He has solid stats in the VHL and has shown to be very loyal and a well-respected teammate that many enjoyed playing with him. That ladies and gentleman concludes part one of the draft. After this I will only talk about big selections in the latter rounds and talk about the trades that followed. Then I will begin to go on to talk about what happened in Season 1.
  6. Device would just hate that site then wouldnt he?
  7. ^ pretty much, i got C+'s and shit from grade 8 to Grade 10 but picked my shit up in grade 11 and 12.
  8. http://z11.invisionfree.com/vhl/index.php?act=idx I never understood why we moved from this site. It was the birth place of the VHL. It hold all the records from S1-S23. It isn't gone forever like the site that held our S24-S33 i think it was. Maybe ive been gone too long from that site but i dont see what is wrong with it. The other site got hacked and now what will stop this new one from being hacked? I vote we move back to this one. Just kidding idc, im just trying to fill out the 150 words we need to get one stupid TPE. Most people have great ideas and shit to get to 150 but i do not. I suck at these so i just mostly end of making this rambling BS for 1 TPE. Why must we do this for one measly TPE? well I think, Oh look im done 150 words
  9. I said Edmonton because of their past. 5 Cups since 1979 is like Vasteras IK winning twice in 6 years, Wayne Gretzky = Scotty Campbell, Matthew Pogge = Grant Fuhr etc edit, 6 being years since the VHL has been created.
  10. On Friday, July 20th 2007, the Victory Hockey League officially opened its doors for business. Then commissioner ft.13 or Brett Noiles was quoted with saying "The VHL has officially opened its doors, Friday July 20th, 11:30 P.M. Feel free to look around and make sure you get as many people as possible to join, we're gonna need as many as we can. Any questions can be directed to LIU, me or scotty." The three commissioners that brought us this proud league we know today aren't with us any more but they are definitely in our hearts whether we want to admit it or not. These three people are better known by usernames such as LightItUp4126 aka Kevin Brooks, scotty aka Scotty Campbell and ft.13 aka Brett Noiles. One day later the first ever draft order was announced. On July 21st 2007, the Calgary Wranglers won the draft lottery. The draft order looked like this: 1- Calgary Wranglers 2- Hamilton Canucks 3- Helsinki Frostbite 4- Stockholm Thunder 5- Seattle Everblades 6- Amstel Tigers 7- Toronto Legion 8- Vasteras IK Many thought this was a blessing for the Wrangler franchise, GM Brett Slobodzian must have thought otherwise because on July 26th 2007, GM Brett Slobodzian did the unthinkable and traded away the 1st overall pick. The trade looked like this: To the Calgary Wranglers: Amstel's S1 1st Round Draft Pick (6th Overall) Amstel's S1 2nd Round Draft Pick (11th Overall) Amstel's S2 4th Round Draft Pick (with stipulations) To the Amstel Tigers: Calgary's S1 1st Round Draft Pick (1st Overall) Calgary's S1 2nd Round Draft Pick (16th Overall) Now that is quite the deal isn't it? GM Brett Slobodzian was quoted with saying "Some are going to think, what the hell is he doing"? Well what he's doing is making sure his team has depth and not just one superstar. "We feel that as long as someone in the 11th or 17th overall position continues to do point tasks, he/she will be just as good if not better than the first overall selection". If they are active and do PT regularly, than I have no problem making this deal any day of the week". How is that for fireworks in the League that is just in its infancy. The stipulations with the S2 draft pick were that if the S2 draft wasn't 4 rounds and was only 3 then it would be a 3rd round draft pick, if it was only 2 rounds then it would be a 2nd round draft pick and if it was only 1 round then there would be money compensations. That wasn't the only pre draft trading that happened, another notable deal took place between the Hamilton Canucks and Vasteras IK. To the Vasteras IK Hamilton Canucks S1 1st Round Draft Pick (2nd Overall) To the Hamilton Canucks Vasteras IK S1 1st Round Draft Pick (8th Overall) Vasteras IK S2 2nd Round Draft Pick Two big trades in one day, btoh involving the 1st and 2nd overall picks. Who would have thought that the 1st Overall and 2nd overall picks would be moved? This was obviously a big trade in the VHL as now the Vasteras IK had traded up to 2nd overall. In a later Media Spot you will find out why this 2nd overall selection was such an important piece in Vasteras IK history. GM Lucas Tannahill was quoted with saying "This may not be the 1st Overall, but it's a solid consolation prize. Thanks Noiles." Other minor deals took place during the Draft which was on July 26th 2007. These trades involved Vasteras IK, the Calgary Wranglers and the Amstel Tigers. The trades looked like this To the Vasteras IK Calgary's S1 5th Round Draft Pick (33rd Overall) To the Calgary Wranglers Vasteras IK S1 5th Round Draft Pick (40th Overall) Vasteras IK S1 6th Round Draft Pick (41st Overall) To the Amstel Tigers Vasteras IK S1 7th Round Draft Pick (56th Overall) To the Vasteras IK $500,000 After all these trades the draft looked like this: 1st Round 1. Amstel Tigers (from Calgary Wranglers) 2. Vasteras IK (from Hamilton Canucks) 6. Calgary Wranglers (from Amstel Tigers) 8. Hamilton Canucks (from Vasteras IK) 2nd Round 11. Calgary Wranglers (from Amstel Tigers) 16. Amstel Tigers (from Calgary Wranglers) 5th Round 33. Vasteras IK (From Calgary Wranglers) 40. Calgary Wranglers (from Vasteras IK) 6th Round 41. Calgary Wranglers (from Vasteras IK) 7th Round 56. Amstel Tigers (From Vasteras IK) *The rest of the order was the same as the one I given to you at the beginning of this MS with the exception of these minor details. It was also a snake draft so you get the picture.
