  1. 1. Honestly, I have no real affiliation/connection to the UK but I thought naming a player Aston Martin would be kind of cool and given that they are a british luxury car brand - thought it made sense lol 2. I see myself as an offensive, dynamic centerman. I am going to have a high amount of initial TPE in scoring and skating. 3. I'll go with your player 4. I don't really have a preference, if I am being honest. I think all of the teams are cool. Being drafted by an expansion team may be interesting as well. 5. Best case scenario career-wise for my player would be to dominate the VHLM and get drafted high in the VHL draft next year and have a very successful career. While also having fun with this online community. 6. It's tough to say - I think I'll have a decent amount of TPE built up before the season which can enable me to produce. I think it depends on where I get drafted, where I play in the lineup etc. But I do think I can have a pretty big first year.
  2. VHL.com April 22, 2019 Aston Martin Gears up for the S66 VHLM Draft On April 28, 2019 the Season 66 VHLM Dispersal Draft will take place in San Diego, the league announced over the weekend. Former British youth hockey standout and prolific scorer of the Barrie Colts of the Ontario Hockey League, Aston Martin, is expected to hear his name called at some point on Sunday. Martin is a newly eligible draft prospect having only announced his intent to play in the VHLM last week, but has been gaining some interest around the league leading up to the big draft day. Scouts describe Martin as a dynamic offensive centerman who can skate like the wind and put the puck in the back of the net. It is difficult to say where Martin will be drafted on Sunday, but he definitely has been skyrocketing up draft boards ever since he joined the league. Recently, all VHLM eligible draftees played in a top prospects game as a bit of a showcase game. Martin played first line center for his team and managed to register two goals and two assists. Keep an eye out for one of the potential sleepers of the Season 66 VHLM Dispersal Draft, Aston Martin.
  3. Aston Martin Biography April 22, 2019 Aston Lucas Martin was born on February 5, 2001 in London, UK to his parents, Rex and Marie Martin. Aston’s father, Rex, was originally born and grew up in New York working as an executive businessman. During a business trip to London he met his future wife Marie while purchasing a new Aston Martin luxury car. Marie was born and raised in the UK. After marriage a few years later, Rex then decided it was in the best interest of his family to take a full-time job in London, UK and raise the family there as opposed to back in the United States. Besides Aston, who is the oldest child at 18 years old (and yes named after the luxury British car brand where his parents met), the family has Alvin (15 years old) and Jessica (10 years old). The Martin family growing up lived a pretty average, hard-working lifestyle. One thing everyone in the family had in common was their love of sports and strong competition. It didn’t matter what they all were doing, each and every one wanted to be the best. Winning was of the utmost importance to the Martin’s; there were no participation trophies handed out in this family. Aston’s childhood was one that was exciting and included a significant amount travel due to sports. He grew up in the UK and attended early school there. At school, Aston was widely regarded as a confident young kid and someone that everyone in the school wanted to be around. He was a class-clown and loved to have fun, but also understood the importance of doing well in school. Aston played many sports as a kid including hockey, baseball and soccer. Early on he developed a special love for the game of hockey – he was constantly seen by his parents playing mini-hockey in the basement by himself for hours upon hours. His parents decided to register him for a local youth hockey team, there were no try-outs, everyone made the team. His time playing for this team helped lay the foundation for his hockey career and solidify his love for the sport. He was a natural. Skating, shooting, stick handling all came very easy to Aston, which is something you rarely see in the UK. It was about at the age of 13, that Aston and his family had a sit down discussion to talk through his future hockey career. It was clear that Aston had incredible skill and was over qualified for the leagues he was playing in. It was also clear that the competition in the UK for hockey simply wasn’t adequate for Aston to continue to improve. After long, hard discussions the family decided to send Aston to London, Ontario (CAN) to further develop his skill. Aston’s father reflects on the decision to send him to Canada to pursue his hockey career “That was an extremely difficult decision for our family. Selfishly, we wanted to keep Aston as close to home as possible because he’s such a solid kid to have around. Ultimately, we felt that he wouldn’t be able to reach his potentially if he continued to play hockey in the UK and this was the best move for him. It ended up being the correct decision and we are thrilled about that” As a 14 year old in Canada, Aston initially was living with a local family that he met by being teammates with one of their sons on his midget ice hockey team. He continued to live with this family for the next few years and really became comfortable in Canada and focusing on hockey. After his 15-year old season he was drafted to the Ontario Hockey League in the third round by the Barrie Colts. This was a defining moment for a young kid from the UK and reassurance for his family that the decision to send him to Canada was warranted. He saw great success in his years in the Ontario Hockey League, becoming the youngest player to lead the league in points of all-time and really began to open up some eyes around North America. After two seasons in the OHL, he began to explore his professional career in hockey. There was no doubt he would play at the next level, the question just happened to be in which league. Of course, the National Hockey League is every kid’s dream, but the rival Victory Hockey League was also a serious option. Lately, many players similar to Aston have been choosing the VHL over the NHL. The VHL has been growing and becoming a very strong professional league and ultimately it was decided that he would enter the VHL to pursue his professional career. When the announcement was made, he immediately received several phone calls and interview requests from VHLM teams, which is the VHL’s minor league affiliate system. Given the timing of his announcement to join the VHL, he was not eligible to sign and play with a team in the league’s 65th season. Instead, his focus shifted towards preparing for the VHLM entry draft in April 2019 and eventually the Season 67 VHL Entry Draft. General Managers of the VHLM and VHL have been fairly impressed with Aston Martin’s skillset and work ethic so far, but definitely want to see more out of him before they anoint him as the next great one. It should be very exciting to see where the VHL takes his professional hockey career. Aston recently reflected on his childhood and life growing up: “I have nothing to complain about with regards to my upbringing and family support. I am lucky enough to be surrounded by people who love and care about me and my passions. They knew at an early age that I loved the sport of hockey and wanted to take it seriously to ultimately have it become my career. They were there to support me along the way. I cannot wait to have them come out to my first VHL game – it will be a very emotional time for my family and myself,”

  6. From the VHLM Press Conference Thread: 1) Since it's not been too long since you've joined the league, what are thoughts on the league so far as a whole? AM Answer: I love it - I had a player here over a year or so ago, but it looks like a lot has changed since then. I am excited to get to know everyone here and build out my player. Hopefully one day can be a VHL great. 2) Are there any areas in the league that you would like to see a change/improvement? AM Answer: So far I cant say there is anything that sticks out. The VHL Portal is definitely something that is unique and interesting. I would suggest focusing on building that out moving forward. 3) The VHLM Newsletter launched earlier this week, did you read it and was it helpful to you? AM Answer: Unfortunately, I did not read the VHLM Newsletter, as I did not know it existed lol. I will definitely give it a read this week! 4) What are your aims this season in the VHLM? AM Answer: As I joined after the season - I am not affiliated with a VHLM team at the moment. However, with the draft coming up in a week or so I look forward to being affiliated with a team. My goals for the season would be to try to earn the max TPE each week and build my player into high scoring centerman. 5) With the teams starting to take shape, who do you consider to be the favourite for the VHLM Founders Cup? AM Answer: Well it looks like Minnesota is one win from a title so I will go with them Honestly though, I am still new and getting used to the players/teams. Hopefully one day I can experience a VHLM finals and a Founders Cup. 6a) Is there any player on your VHL team that you're particularly looking forward to playing with when you make the VHL? (For players who were also in the VHL Draft) AM Answer: Again, since i am so new it is hard to have informed preferences at this point. I would be happy to play with anyone in the VHL. I did see a guy named Jet Jaguar or something like that in the VHL draft, pretty cool name, might want to play with him some day. 6b) What do you think of your current VHLM team? (If you were selected in the VHLM Draft) AM Answer: I am unaffiliated at this point - entering the VHLM draft in the next week. I am sure I will be thrilled with wherever I land. 6c) If a GM were to make you an offer, what kind of player would they be getting? (If you're currently unaffiliated). AM Answer: They will be getting a high scoring center iceman and a member who will try to be a max TPE guy each and every week!
  7. 1.) What pick do you see yourself going in the S66 Entry Draft? 2.) If you could play with any other S66 draft prospect in the VHL, who would you pick to play with?

  10. Getting to Know Aston Martin VHL.Com April 16, 2019 Here we will get to know a little bit about the latest VHL prospect, centerman Aston Martin. We asked him six "favorites" questions to get to know him a little bit more off the ice. Favorite Food: "If we're talking a nice meal, I would say a steak. Otherwise, pizza is definitely my guilty pleasure" Favorite Non-Hockey Sport: "Growing up I played a lot of sports, but lately golf has become my second passion behind hockey. I still have a lot of work to do out there, but I really enjoy getting out on the course." Favorite Video Game: "Fortnite - meet me at Tilted Towers" Favorite Song/Artist of All-Time: "I have to shout out to my UK brother, Ed Sheeran, here. We were born in the same city. Perfect kind of music to chill out to." Favorite Car: "You already know" Favorite Beer: "Cant go wrong with a nice cold Budweiser. The canadian boys have me drinking that piss water, Moulson, as of late and I havent been impressed."
  11. Scouts impressed with UK-born Aston Martin April 16, 2019 VHLM Tribune The United Kingdom may not be exactly a hockey hotbed, but heads have been turning when centerman Aston Martin takes the ice. Slated to enter the VHLM in the coming weeks, we decided to sit down and talk with an anonymous VHLM scout to provide us with his latest scouting report. Name: Aston Martin Height: 6’0 Weight: 175 Position: Center Number: 88 Overall Assessment: Aston Martin is a dynamic centerman who brings a strong goal scoring and playmaking touch every time he hits the ice. Martin has very good size for his age (17) at six feet and 175 pounds. We think he still has room to grow and bulk up even more. Martin also has intangible leadership qualities that separate him from other VHLM prospects. Pros: Skating – “The first thing that sticks out is his skating ability and edge work. He reminds me a bit of a McDavid in this regard. He gains so much momentum and power through the neutral zone and is a one man zone entry. He rarely dumps the puck in, as he can skate through the opposition with ease.” Passing – “Martin has an incredible eye for the game and this translates well to his passing ability. He sees the ice so well that he makes passes that some people didn’t think was even an option. Tape to tape.” Leadership – “As mentioned in the overall assessment, this guy is a leader on and off the ice. He leads by example and does not shy away from being vocal on the ice. He was named captain of his junior team after coming over to North America from the UK. He didn’t know anyone, yet he was able to prove to the coaches and team that he was the leader of the team. Something VHLM and VHL teams will love.” ---------- Cons: Physical play – “Despite his large and built-out size, he rarely plays a physical game. I think this is something he will need to incorporate when he takes it to the pro level. He may not be able to get away with the strictly speed and finesse game, but I may be wrong” Shot – “His shot isn’t going to necessarily over power any goaltender at the next level. I expect the VHLM team to dedicate some time to improving his release and shot power in order to become a dynamic goal scoring center. Don’t get me wrong, he can definitely beat any goaltender, but it wont be strictly with his shot.” Temper - “With his great passion and leadership, he has found himself going a bit crazy on this ice at times. I do think, at its core, it is because he is so passionate and wants to win so bad, but as a leader he needs to also know when to reign it in and not put his team in an adverse situation on the ice.”
