  1. Last week in our early Season 67 Draft preview, we highlighted the top five sleepers in the class. In our second installment of Season 67 draft content, we will look into the top three draft-eligible centers, based on Total Points Earned at the time of this article. Yes – I chose this topic so I can talk about my own player. Phil Marleau – San Diego Marlins @Phil The top draft eligible center prospect in this class is Phil Marleau from the Marlins. Marleau projects as a rock solid two-way forward in the VHL; he is very responsible defensively but also has a natural scoring touch. He was drafted 5th overall in the VHLM Dispersal Draft despite having just declared for the draft, which caught some teams by surprise but looking back on it now, the Marlins looked like geniuses. This season, he has registered 16 goals and 22 assists in 35 games played, which paces at just above a point-per-game. Marleau also has ideal VHL size at 6’5 and 240 pounds; he is a big body and very difficult to move off the puck. Scout assessment: Boris The Forest – Mexico City Kings @chillzone American-born centerman, Boris the Forest, comes in at number two on this list. Boris is an offensively gifted center with tremendous, natural scoring ability. He was drafted at 28th overall by the Kings and that has proved to be a fantastic value pick for the organization. Boris has 19 goals and 16 assists and 6 of those goals scored have been game-winners, which leads the team. Of all the center’s in the class, Boris may have the most natural upside in terms of goal-scoring ability. His areas of improvement at this point in time are skating and puck handling; but scouts aren’t overly concerned about Boris developing those traits. Scout assessment: Aston Martin – Ottawa Lynx @Sullvino Next on the list of center’s to keep an eye on for the S67 Draft is Aston Martin of the Ottawa Lynx. Martin profiles as a similar player to the aforementioned Boris the Forest, but is further along in his development of skating and puck handling. Simply put, the Ottawa Lynx have been scorching hot this season and Martin has been able to capitalize on the success by producing points. In his 35 games played, he has tallied 22 goals and 24 assists while also registering an impressive 166 shots on goal. His 22 goals scored puts him at Top-6 in the VHLM and first amongst draft-eligible centermen. Scout assessment: Next Week: Top 3 Wingers
  2. 235 Helsinki Titans 236 Calgary Wranglers 237 Riga Reign 238 Helsinki Titans
  3. 1. USA 2. Canada 3. Europe 4. Teagan Glover
  4. 1. I thought we would be contenders, but this hot of a start I did not see coming. 2. I refer to out GM on that question - but we are always looking for more talent 3. I dont think they are necessarily set for the season, we always have to evaluate the personnel. 4. I dont think any key pieces are in danger of going anywhere with the start we have had. 5. Feelsgoodman 7. We do some team events outside of the rink such as dinners, drinks etc. Its a good group
  5. Martin Finding His Game The Season 66 VHLM season is just about 20 games in and for Aston Martin, he is just beginning to find his groove. Martin started out the season pretty hot and was able to generate points given Ottawa’s overall success and goal scoring. He saw that personal success fade a little bit for a period of time when his line was being kept off the score sheet in some high scoring games, but that didn’t last too long. In his last two games against Houston and Philadelphia, Martin tallied 4 goals and 2 assists, which puts him in the Top-4 on the team in scoring and right back on a point-per-game pace. One stat not to ignore for Martin is his plus/minus rating at a +20, which is good for fourth best in the entire VHLM just two behind fellow teammate David Lindberg for top spot. Martin chimes in: “This season has been a blast so far. My first professional season has been everything I could have asked for. Obviously, the team is doing tremendous and my personal game is also getting there. I have high expectations for myself this season. I want the team to win a championship and I want to solidify my draft stock for the VHL. We have a long way to go on both of those, but definitely excited for the future.”
  6. Potential Sleepers in the S67 Class Today, we’re going to begin a series of draft-related content for the S67 Entry Draft. While I acknowledge we are very early in the process and a lot can happen between now and draft day, it is never too early to take a look at the class in more detail. The theme of this week is going to be an early look into some of the potential sleepers in the class. All players that are ranked below the Top-20 in the S67 Live Rankings as of today were eligible for consideration. Let’s take a look at the Top-5. Lincoln Tate – D – San Diego Marlins @Lincoln Tate The first on the list is a 6’5 defenseman from the San Diego Marlins, Lincoln Tate, who has burst onto the scene since signing his VHLM contract with the Marlins. When scouts describe Tate, they all say the same thing: a smooth, two-way right shot defenseman. Watching Tate play is magic, the way he can skate with the puck and distribute around him is extremely impressive. Tate has played 13 games so far this season and has tallied 4 goals and 18 assists, which puts him at Top-3 in the VHLM for points for defensemen behind only Hulk Hogan and Kevin Low. We have Tate labeled as a sleeper for now, but he is beginning to garner national attention and we would not be surprised if he was a high draft pick when that day comes. Henrik Zoiderberg – LW – Mexico City Kings @HenrikZoiderberg Swedish winger Henrik Zoiderberg has also been beginning to open eyes around the league. Zoiderberg is a playmaking, slick winger for the Mexico City Kings who also provides his team with sound defensive hockey. When paired with a high-scoring linemate, he can really make magic happen. Scouts have been raving about his two-way game and overall leadership in the locker room since he has joined the VHLM. Zoiderberg was not eligible for the VHLM Dispersal Draft, but instead signed a one-year deal with Mexico City. In his 19 games played so far he has put up a 3-6-9 stat line. At it’s face, these stats will not “wow” anyone, but when looking at Zoiderberg you have to consider the complete player and room for growth. Both of which positives for the Swede. Derek England – D – Mexico City Kings @PenKnight The second Mexico City Kings player to make the list is defenseman Derek England. England was drafted 31st overall in this past S66 VHLM Dispersal Draft and ever since then has been very impressive on and off the ice. The Russian-born defenseman checks all the boxes from a mental standpoint. He has a strong team-first mentality and very high hockey IQ. Scouts also have been excited about his offensive potential. Similar to Lincoln Tate, he can move very well with and without the puck. His 2 goals and 12 assists are good for second on his team amongst defenseman, but he is just now hitting his groove in the VHLM. Look for him to continue to skyrocket up draft boards as the season progresses. R.J. Lloris – RW – Las Vegas Aces @RJMW Undrafted free agent R.J. Lloris comes in at number four on this list. The Canadian-born winger possesses natural goal scoring talent, period. He previously played in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League before joining the VHLM and shattered team records in his time there. To compliment his goal scoring touch, he also plays the game like a Tasmanian Devil, which can be a real treat to watch. Lloris was signed by the Las Vegas Aces during the season and despite their recent struggles, Lloris has been able to develop his game in a positive way. While still a very raw prospect, we like his trajectory if he continues to work hard on and off the ice. Berocka Sundqvist – LW – Mississauga Hounds @berocka Rounding out our list is an Australian winger from the Hounds, Berocka Sundqvist. This kid has a very interesting background as he was a youth star in Australian-rules football prior to his hockey career. This background has laid the foundation for the player he is today and hopefully will become in the future. Scouts are intrigued by his skill-mix. He plays a very physical game and at high-pace, but he also has a very good hands as well. The Hounds have been a middle of the pack team to start the season and Sundqvist has found himself playing primarily third line minutes. We think that if he continues to develop and progress, he could start to see some Top-6 and special teams minutes. Berocka could be a mid-round steal.
  7. Nice win for the boys - dominated the shot totals as well
  8. Player: Ambrose Stark User: @Banackock Position: D Height: 6’3 Weight: 201 Last week we profiled rookie defenseman, David Lindberg, who we projected to be a potential sleeper pick for the Ottawa Lynx from the blue line. Lindberg has been fabulous to start the season with 8 goals and 10 assists in the teams first 19 games. This week we will continue the theme of profiling Lynx defensemen and take a deeper look at Ambrose Stark. After tons of drama and rumors surrounding where Stark would sign to play this season, he ultimately decided to sign a one-year contract with the Ottawa Lynx on May 8th. When the signing was announced, everyone knew this would be a very big addition to the blue line as he is one of the top S67 defensemen in the VHLM. Ambrose is described by many as a magician with the puck, he is very comfortable handling the puck and effective at transitioning out of the defensive zone to create offense. He also has an absolute cannon of a shot from the point, likely one of the hardest shots we’ve seen from a defenseman in years. S66 Outlook Stark has been the Lynx’s best overall defenseman since joining the team. In his 15 games played (note he missed 4 games to start the season while he was deciding where to sign) he has registered 7 goals and 11 assists and also has displayed a strong physical side of the game with 34 hits, which is the second most on the team for d-men. Overall, we expect Stark to continue to dominate offensively and defensively for the Ottawa Lynx as the season progresses.
  9. Finn Davison - G @Renomitsu
  10. Player Name: Aston Martin VHL/VHLM Team: Ottawa Lynx Cash you have: $1,500,000 Purchase Name: The First Generation Cost of Purchase: $500,000 Cash Left: $1,000,000
  11. Ok sorry about that: two picks 1. Dan Montgomery - D 2. Matthew Materazo - F @Romaris
  12. 1. It has been a pretty solid start for my player so far - I started off pretty hot and cooled down a bit now, but still over a point per game so cant complain. 2. We just took over first place and won 9 straight games, I think it has been a nearly perfect start for the team 3. These are two big moves - Stark gives us a stud on D that we definitely needed and Tonn gives us just another weapon on offense. 4. All the boys have been great - my early season linemates Blake Laughton and "Teach me how to" Dougie Forsyth have been good to play with. 5. I would probably still say Philly 6. Nice
  13. Ottawa Lynx Press Conference Questions - Week of May 19 1. What are your thoughts on the season so far (from a personal player perspective) 2. What are your thoughts on the season so far (from a team perspective) 3. We recently added Ambrose Stark via free agency and Jordan Tonn via trade - do you think these transactions make us clear contenders for the cup? 4. Which player(s) have you enjoyed getting to know/playing with so far while playing for Ottawa? 5. Now that we have played just over 10 games, which team do you feel is our biggest competition for a title? 6. We recently had 69 shots against Houston, thoughts?
  14. Red Hot Start for Ottawa VHLM News May 13, 2019 Season 66 is underway in the VHLM and the Ottawa Lynx have gotten off to a tremendous start. In their first 10 games, the Lynx have an 8-1-1 record, for 17 points and are tied for first in the league with the Philadelphia Reapers. Offensively, defensively and especially goaltending: the Lynx have been firing on all cylinders. This article will dig a little bit deeper on recent transactions and check in on individual player stats through 10 games for Ottawa. Transactions 1. Signing – Ambrose Stark – D Last week, we reported that the Lynx were heavily connected to defensive prospect Ambrose Stark, who was a highly touted free agent. Ultimately, Stark decided to sign a one-year contract with Ottawa and added a big boost to their back end. Stark is an elite puck moving defenseman who has already seen early success. In his six games as a member of the Lynx, he has tallied 3 goals and 3 assists while playing on the teams top defensive pairing. The Lynx were definitely lacking that high-end talent on defense and Stark definitely is helping fill that hole. Overall – a massive signing for Ottawa and a transaction that did not require the team to spend draft capital as it was announced subsequent to the VHLM Dispersal Draft. 2. Trade – Jordan Tonn – Center The Stark signing wasn’t the only transaction Ottawa completed this week, they also made an offensive Splash to acquire highly skilled centerman, Jordan Tonn, from Las Vegas for a Season 68 1st round pick, Season 67 5th round pick and further compensation to be announced later. In nine games for Las Vegas, Tonn has registered 3 goals and 10 assists. The Aces are clearly not contenders this year so the trade made a ton of sense for both parties. Tonn will join fellow centers Pascal Batz and Aston Martin to form one of the best groups in the entire VHLM. This move clearly solidifies that the Lynx are going for a championship this year. Players Stats The Lynx have had contributions from many players so far this season, which speaks to their offensive and defensive depth. They currently have seven players with at least a point per game (Laughton, Tonn, Lindberg, Draper, Wagner, Batz and Martin). The leading goal scorer, Blake Laughton, has tallied six goals and eight assists so far in this young season. One of the surprises at the top of the scoring sheet has been defenseman David Lindberg, who was a mid round draft pick in the recent VHLM Dispersal Draft. Lindberg has six goals and seven assists so far this season, which is very impressive for a second pairing defenseman. [ We wrote about Lindberg last week as a player to watch ] This balanced offensive attack is something to keep an eye on as the season progresses as depth is a very key factor in playoff pushes. Further, the team has received outstanding goaltending from Pekka Pouta, who is arguably the top goalie in the VHLM. He holds an astounding 1.27 GAA, a 93% save percentage and four shutouts. It is too early to anoint the Lynx the darling of the VHLM this season, but this red-hot start has been very impressive and is a testament to great management from the GM and strong worth ethic by the players.
