d3vilsfire got a reaction from Fire Tortorella in Bad Move? Or True Colors
When Luxembourg made the jump from his local German team to Houston, there was a lot of excitement. Coming off a championship win with the Red Bull club, there was a lot of promise for the rising German phenom. With multiple offers from several teams, Luxembourg opted to sign with the Houston team seeing them as the best place to ease into the new hockey league without the pressure of competing for the cup.
Now 20 games into his VHLM career, the questions are surely rising on if this was a smart move. In 20 games with his Houston club, Luxembourg has scored 0 goals, and has only managed 2 meager points. On top of this, he is sitting at -5 +/-, with only 7 shots and 33 hits. One could say he maybe oriented towards a more defensive style, but even those stats are not good enough to justify the lack of production. On the ice, Luxembourg has seemed quite loss and out of place. Though he has demonstrated growth, there is legitimate fear if he can make the transition to the top flight. With the draft rapidly approaching, Luxembourg has also seen a drop in the Live Draft Rankings, seeing himself drop from 16 to 21.

With the freewill for Luxembourg, German outlets have reached out to the young player asking if he will continue his pursuit of a VHL career or return to German hockey. Despite the ever-growing doubt, Luxembourg has been resolute in his aspirations, continuing to train hard. The first one into the training facility and the last one out, Luxembourg has immersed himself into the sport. Interviewer after interviewer, have asked if Luxembourg’s play will translate into confidence for a top VHL club to draft him.

“While I understand my play does not exude confidence, I ensure that as I adjust to this new league, my play will improve. I simply need a chance, and I will be sure to take it and run with it. A team that drafts me will not regret it I promise,” Luxembourg said after the recent 2-1 victory over Halifax 21st.

In that game, Luxembourg once again went pointless though he was able to register 2 hits, and a 65.6% face-off percentage. Yet again, he had zero shots on net, which either demonstrates his failure to position himself in scoring opportunities, or simply just not up to snuff for the VHLM. While his face-off ability has grown siginpificantly, Luxembourg has yet been able to demonstrate enough consistency with it for it to be considered a weapon of his.

Luxembourg has hinted at an offseason return to Germany in hopes of finding his form if he is unable to get the mojo to be in his favor while in Houston. A summer of pumping iron and searching for himself in his hometown could prove to be the missing ingredient for the young player who could still have a long career if he is able to focus.

As a child, Bjorn Wilhelm von Luxembourg knew he would be playing hockey. Born to a Prince of Luxembourg, Bjorn was not destined to enter the sports world, as he was expected to handle more diplomatic and business duties. However, Bjorn’s parents had decided that life in Luxembourg was not what they desired, instead opting to move to Munich, Germany. It is because of this key difference, Bjorn is now on the path towards professional hockey instead of business school. As a young boy, Bjorn was exposed to the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL), and he immediately fell in love with the sport. Training very hard, Bjorn became a product of the RB Hockey Akademie, going through the academy ranks. It was not long before he was picked up by the local Red Bull team, EHC Red Bull München, who were eager to sign the young German phenom to a contract, though they later found out it would not last for long. Playing for the team he grew up with was a huge honor, and he helped EHC Red Bull München win another championship. As well as excelling at the club level, Bjorn played at each level of international play. While many called for him to play for Luxembourg’s national team given his family status and ethnicity, Bjorn ultimately decided to play for the German national team. An ode to Germany for raising him and making him who he is today, the decision brought controversy, and called into question his commitment to the royal family.

After winning the championship with his club team, Bjorn knew that he had accomplished all that he was going to accomplish with EHC Red Bull München, and it was time to seek out another challenge. Scouring the leagues in Europe, none of them held the prestige that he was looking for, nor did they offer the chance to elevate his game in the way he desired. Enter the Houston Bulls, which despite being in a completely different environment than what Bjorn is used to off the ice, Houston has become his new home. Attracted to the American lifestyle and the presence of Europeans including a German on the roster, the Houston Bulls is Bjorn’s first taste of VHLM hockey, and one that he has grown to enjoy. Though there has been an adjustment period, this of course is expected. He has already notched his first point, and is looking to improve his game for the eventual VHL draft.

It is also important to note the humbless of the new Houston Bull. Instead of flexing his royalty, Bjon has opted to move in with a local German family in the Houston area, and he has continued to play down his royal ancestry in the media, instead trying to bring focus to his hockey ability. Though this is definitely a bit ironic as he has not exactly been a phenom in Houston, with only 1 point in his last 5 games, though he is boasting a 54.44% faceoff percentage. With the VHLM season winding down, the expectation has not been set high for the European, though we do expect him to continue to rise to the challenge.

Ill throw my hat into the ring even though it has been a while.

    1. I was previously a VHLM GM (Moscow Red Wolves)
    2. I had a player (KJA) who played in VHL.
    3. Ive never had any infractions against me
    4. While I am getting used to the new interface, the concepts seemingly have remained mostly the same. Honestly my favorite part about VHL besides the community was being a GM. If people liked me in 2014, I am basically a more refined version of that (hopefully that is a good thing).

Coming to Texas is a bit daunting, but with a fellow German on the team Björn von Luxembourg looks forward to beginning his career in the State of God, Guns, and Football.

Boubs makes sexual advances on us after every game in the showers. Why must we be whipped with towels? Why must he takes photos and hang them on his wall to show our body strength progress?  Why must we call you "Big Bouby Pappi".
Stockholm is a black hole if you want to be touched.

Lots of turnover this season in the VHLM in terms on management, hopefully we can spark some new interest in the league with some new blood. So congrats to those taking over and thank you to those stepping down. More changes may be on the horizon but I eaglesfan and myself will finish our evaluation in the off-season.

Probably most have noticed I have been on rarely over the last few weeks. I got laid off because of the downsizing of the Canadian oilfield and as such have been traveling around to multiple places looking for work. Since my monthly cost of living is not feasible in this market I will be shutting down everything including internet until I find work again. I will have my phone and can stop by friends with internet here and there. I basically have until the end of the month to get work or it's up the creek for this guy. Anyway, heres to hoping one of these company's calls me back soon.
