Don't tell me what to do

Even though I've been here for three months or so, I've never gotten around to writing one of those (I'm definitely far more graphically inclined), but with all the downtime I've had at work lately (RIP Made-in-Manitoba carbon tax), I figured I would use some time here to introduce myself to some of the users who aren't as active on the discord as others, and as a consequence, might not have had much in the way of interactions with me. I joined the site right at the end of July of this year, and was immediately drawn in. Since then, I've made the TPE cap each week (barring my very first week, since I joined on a Sunday) and have seized every possible uncapped TPE opportunity I saw. Because of this excessive TPE whoring, I skyrocketed up the S63 draft rankings and found myself going 1st overall to Riga. Hot off a Founder's Cup win with Ottawa, I was hungry for more team success. Luckily, Riga winning the draft lottery set me up to have that opportunity year one. We currently sit atop the standings (tied with Toronto, much to my surprise) and have one of the deepest rosters in the VHL. As for me personally, I'm a 21 year old university student who works for the Manitoban provincial government and I love discussing all things hockey, finance, climate, etc. with people in the Discord. TL;DR Join the discord and shoot the shit with us there if you don't already.

Review: This one's really nice and unique. I like when people incorporate more than just a glory shot of a single player in a graphic. If you edited the name on, it looks really well done, but I would assume that you found an existing Kovalev picture.

Review: The duplication effect is actually totally new to me but I like it a lot. The writing is pretty hard to make out, but I think that's mostly because of the font, not because of the effects or colour or anything. The additional effects around the player are appealing as well.

Review: I prefer the simpler ones, and this one works well. The text in the bottom corner is a little too obscured for my liking, maybe that should be a layer above the effect on the background to stand out a little more, but if you were going for the obscured look, then it's fine as is.

Review: I really like how you took a different route than most have with this one. The flame overlaying the bottom part of the player is sharp and the focus being on the player's face works really well.

Review: The layer of the name behind the player is pretty great, I dig it. The ratio of the font in the foreground looks a little off to me though, as if you squished it horizontally, but it doesn't take too much away from the finished product.

Review: Great effort on the name bending. It isn't perfect, but making it perfect is nigh impossible. Is that McAvoy again btw?

Review: You know you always do great work, and I feel like a lot of my criticisms are re-hashed from most of your other graphics. Basically that I like the effects and the font and all but the player blends in a little too much with the background. In my opinion, either some more effects should be layered over the background to mute it a bit or maybe switch up some colours or something.

Review: I really appreciate the effort you put into this. There are a couple little faults here and there where the logos seem to be at differing heights, but all-in-all, the effort definitely shows. Also, is this picture somehow from the three months or so that Bishop played for the Kings?

I don't particularly like making cards for myself, but here we are.

Maybe I should have stayed under 350 ? Nah it ain't worth it for another 6th place finish or whatever.

Everyone else has basically covered my viewpoint, but I would like to add that there's still plenty of bickering and general conversation going on in the discord. Newbies like me have multiple communities hooked up through that one app that can be accessed basically anywhere, so it's simplest to just use that to communicate 99% of the time and use the site mainly for PTs and to check out game results.

He's a musician-turned-self taught programmer who just got a job in software development. He just made a nice little bot that saves the game in our EHM leagues for us. It means instead of having to have certain trusted people remote in to the host server to save the game, any member can type !save in the general discord chat and the bot does all the clicks for us.

There's a guy in the EHM online community making his own sim game with 2d animated visuals. He's only just getting started at it, but that could be something to look at in 1-3 years or whatever.
