  2. 1. I’d probably go with the Rosemary Sunday from Cora’s. Eggs, bacon, has browns, pancakes, fruit. All the best. 2. I’d evaluate the prospects available and if there’s someone you really want trade for the pick slightly higher than where you think they’ll go. I think if we could get two firsts to add another winger along with a defenseman that’d go a long way. Or even later our picks, one pick this year and another for next season. 3. I’ve been working on my passing lately along with my defensive game. Through the season I had put it on hold for some other areas but I’m focusing on my core abilities for now. 4. I absolutely can and will. I love Play-off Ovi. Either him or Chara. 5. Oh gosh, my father I suppose. He’s always pushed me hard to be the best I can be. 6. A stupid dream I had as a kid that I never forgot was that I was the size of Stuart little and I was flying around in his little car that he has. It was really dumb but thought it was really cool at the time. I still think planes are awesome and would love to fly myself but it’s way too expensive to do it.

  4. 1. I think we did a good job even though we finished last. We won more games than I was expecting to. If you just look at the second half of the season we did much better. We even had a franchise high 4 game win streak. 2. I felt pretty good. I think I was 5th for rookies this season so I’m happy with that. I felt like the chemistry is really building on the team and things are improving. 3. I’d have to say Trivium and his goal scoring touch. I knew he could score but man did it feel good to set him up for some beauties. 4. 1st baby! ? actually though I think we’ll do alright. We got better as the season progressed so I think we can actually win it. 5. DC so Lesieur can win a cup! He deserves it. 6. My vote is on Mikko Lahtinen. He had an unreal season.
  5. Review: (bottom) This rendition of this graphic I personally is the stronger of the two. I like how you kept the majority of the background grayscale but sort of sectioned it off the same way as the player is tilting. The biggest reason why I feel it’s better is the two suggestions for the first one you’ve fixed on this one. The empty space is utilized well complementing the image along with the increased font size. The only downside is because of the flashy background it pulls the main focal point off of the player a bit but I feel overall it adds more than it takes away so it’s a good change. Great job! 10/10
  6. Review: (top) Im going to review both of these separately since they’re separate images. I really like in the top one having everything in grayscale besides the player. It really emphasizes the focal point being the player. The only complaint is the amount of empty space here. One suggestion could be cropping out the two players on the sides and increasing the font size. Other than that I really like this and it looks very clean. 9/10
  7. Review: Awesome job on this! I like the background along with the player render selection. Only complaint is the lack of team branding. I do like that font style though and I feel the colours blend well together. Overall I’d give this about an 8/10
  8. Connor Sim Review: I like the player render here and there’s a lot of potential. I feel it fell flat a little bit with the lack of team identity. There should be a logo or something to tie it to the VHL beyond the name. Besides that the colours are pretty cool and I do like the font style. Having the first name inside the last name is a cool idea that I’ve never thought of before. Overall I’d give this about a 7/10
  9. Press Conference for the week ending on Sunday October 18th. 1. How good does it feel to beat other expansion teams? 2. With the trade deadline almost here, are there any hypothetical trades you think we should make? 3. Who are you cheering for to win the cup now that we're about to be going down the final stretch of this season? 4. In this coming draft who's one person you'd like to see us pick up? 5. How long have you been part of the VHL and how did you find out about it? 6. What's your favourite logo in the league? @McWolf @TTtheT @MattyIce @Boragina @Biggreen10 @der meister @Ninjaboi @SeamusSv @okochastar @Enorama @ZP16 @eaglesfan0366 @Nepto @Goliathus
  10. Since this is theme week (even though it's almost over at the time I'm posting this) I’ve decided to take my format of the greatest players from each country and use it for an all-time dream team to form in my opinion the greatest lineup in history. It’ll consist of 3 forwards, 2 defenseman and a goaltender. There’s plenty of good options to pick from and there are some better players but I also took playstyle into consideration to imagine how much chemistry they would have with each other. For example a line of the 3 best goal scorers in history may not be effective if they can’t set each other up for plays and rely solely on their individual goal scoring. Same thing on defense. Having two offensive-defensemen paired together wouldn’t be the best for a full 200 ft game. Now with that out of the way let’s get into it! F - Scotty Campbell 630 TPE (HOF) @scotty I think to absolutely no-one's surprise we have Scotty Campbell up first for forwards. In 577 career games Campbell put up 600 goals and 639 assists for an astounding 1239 points. As of S73 Campbell is the only player to ever surpass the elusive 1,000 point mark and he blew past it. He’s the only player to score more than a goal per game as well as one of two players to record more than an assist per game. He’s a three-time league MVP, two-time playoff MVP, four-time leading goal scorer, two-time assist leader, led the league in points five times, and won the Continental Cup four times in his career. It’s safe to say that Campbell was essentially the Wayne Gretzky of the VHL. I highly doubt we’ll ever see talent like that in the VHL ever again. Let alone even get close to that amazing feat of 1,000 career points. In the history of the VHL there were only four other players to even surpass 900 points and three of those guys have trophies named after them such as Mike Szatkowski, Kevin Brooks, and Christian Stolzchweiger. F - Gabriel McAllister 1248 TPE (HOF) @CowboyinAmerica Up next on this list I decided to choose Gabriel McAllister. Although you may argue there are better forwards I could’ve put here instead of McAllister. I opted to go with him because I felt his physical presence alongside his offensive ability would be a great asset. In 576 games played he managed to put up 397 goals and 429 assists for 826 points. He also had a little over 2,000 hits in his career and ranks 18th in points all time as well as 21st in hits out of all skaters. He’s a three-time Scotty Campbell Trophy winner, three-time Scott Boulet Trophy winner, two-time Mike Szatkowski Trophy winner, Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy winner, two-time Brett Slobodzian Trophy winner, two-time Daisuke Kanou Trophy winner, as well as a two-time Continental Cup Champion. With a trophy case the size of his there’s no real surprise he’s one of the greatest power forwards of all-time. F - Matt Thompson 1571 TPE (HOF) @Beketov For the third and final forward of this list I decided to go with Matt Thompson. Thompson was a fantastic goal scorer in VHL history ranking fourth all-time. That goal scoring capability paired with his physical presence having over 1800 hits in his career was a must-have for me on this dream team. In 576 career games Thompson put up 422 goals and 403 assists for 825 points which puts him tied at 19th for all-time points. Not to be outdone by his linemates Thompson collected quite the individual accolades as well. In his career he was a three-time Kevin Brooks Trophy winner, Scotty Campbell Trophy winner, two-time Brett Slobodzian Trophy winner, two-time Mike Szatkowski Trophy winner, four-time Scott Boulet Trophy winner, Dustin Funk Trophy win and to top it all off he managed to capture a Continental Cup. With such highly decorated forwards that can clearly put the puck in the net whenever they feel like alongside laying out anyone who gets in their way. You could argue two of those players who surpassed 900 points should be on this line instead of McAllister and Thompson and that very well could be a highly productive line offensively. In my thought process though being more defensively minded I opted to go with a more well rounded team rather than pure offensive power. Alright, well let’s move onto defenseman now and see what more superstars await. D - Sterling Labatte 755 TPE (HOF) @sterling Now we move onto Defenseman. First up we have arguably the best defenseman of all-time, Sterling Labatte. This hall-of-famer played in 9 seasons, played 648 games to put up 210 goals and 562 assists for 772 points which is the most out of any defenseman in the entire history of the league. He’s also tied for second for most played games and third in assists all-time out of all skaters. He won multiple individual trophies in his career including, league’s top defenseman three times, two-time playoff MVP, two-time top leader, as well as a 5 time all-star. He also won the Continental Cup 3 times with the Calgary Wranglers. He was on Team Canada multiple times in his career and won 2 bronze medals along with a gold. He was a first ballot hall-of-famer and even has the league’s top defenseman trophy named after him. In my mind if you’re looking at a dream team it has to include one of the all-time greats, Sterling Labatte. D - Edwin Encarnacion 710 TPE @Tagger Onto the second defenseman we have Edwin Encarnacion who is the only player on this team not in the Hall-of-Fame. Why would I choose a player who didn’t have a Hall-of-Fame career you may ask? Well let me tell you. Encarnacion wasn’t the best offensive guy out there recording 85 goals and 260 assists for 345 points in 578 games. He does however lead the league in hits for defenseman and is second for shots blocked out of all skaters. Even though his stats are low, having him alongside Labatte would be one of the best defensive pairings of all-time. The offensive dynamo that is Labatte combined with the physical and defensive presence of Encarnacion would be an unstoppable force on the blue line as well as in their own zone. Now with the skaters addressed we move on to arguably the most important position on the ice. The Goalie. A goalie can steal wins for you on a hot night or be a big factor in falling short. There’s a lot of pressure on these guys on a nightly basis to perform well especially in the playoffs. Good thing this team has one of the greatest goaltenders of all time to really secure a victory in any game they would ever hypothetically play. G - Greg Clegane 908 TPE (HOF) @Victor For my goalie choice I decided to go with Hall-of-Famer Greg Clegane. In 513 games played he had a 364-114-35 record with an astonishing 93 shutouts along with a career .926SV% and 1.80GAA. While you could argue there are goalies with better raw skill but Clegane leads the league in wins, GAA, and shutouts all-time. He’s third all-time in SV% out of goalies who have played more than 400 games. In his career he won 2 Continental Cups, both with Helsinki. He also won the Scotty Campbell Trophy for league MVP, Aidan Shaw Trophy for league’s Top Goalie, as well as the Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy for Top Rookie. In his career he also won a Gold Medal as well as a Silver Medal with who i believe to be World/Europe. There’s no doubt in my mind that he’s the best goalie in history so it’s a no brainer to have him on the team but I could see some solid arguments made for Toumas Tukio. Although if you compare the two side-by-side I’d have to give the edge to Clegane. It’s a tough role to have but clearly Clegane rose to the challenge when the opportunity presented itself. All in all I feel as though these players would mesh well together and would sacrifice the body on a nightly basis to block shots, passes, etc. It would be an unbelievable group of skaters to witness play. On top of all of their spectacular individual ability the chemistry I feel would come naturally as they all have their own roles to play and wouldn’t be fighting each other such as if you had just 5 pure goal scorers out there. The healthy blend of offensive upside paired with the defensive ability of Encarnacion as well as Scott Boulet Trophy winners Thompson and McAllister they’d be unstoppable. Even just having two of these guys on any roster would be enough to make them into an immediate cup contender let alone all of them together. To top it all off if a shot ever got through you have the winningest goaltender of all-time to stop what’s left. I’d love to see this team just play one game against someone else’s group of dream team talent. That’s all I have for today. Thanks for checking out my Dream Team and be sure to let me know if you agree with my logic or if you feel there are better players out there. Until next time! 1564 words
  11. Review: Solid graphic here! I like the career info on the side as well as the players holding the cup. Colour theme works well and fits throughout. Having the little trophies next to the wins is a nice touch. Overall I don’t think there’s really anything I’d change so for me it’s a 10/10
  12. Review: This is a pretty solid graphic overall. There’s some room for improvement by implementing the colours onto the jerseys and putting the logo on the crest of the jersey. Beyond those two points though I really like this. The signature idea is really cool and I like having the logo in the background. I like that font selection as well. With a little more work this would put it up to the next level. Overall solid though 7.5/10
  13. Press Conference for the week ending on Sunday October 11th. 1. What was your reaction from the crazy 10 round shootout against DC in our 3-2 win? 2. Are you happy with your production so far this season? 3. Are we living up or falling flat according to your expectations of where we’d be in the standings so far? 4. What made you choose the position that you play? 5. If there was one thing you could change about the league what would it be? 6. Do you play many video games and if so what is your most played game in the last month or two? @McWolf @TTtheT @MattyIce @Boragina @Biggreen10 @der meister @Ninjaboi @SeamusSv @okochastar @Enorama @ZP16 @eaglesfan0366 @Nepto @Goliathus
  14. Today we talk to London United forward Alec Volchenkov about his recent performance. In London’s last ten games you guys have had a 4-5-1 record but put up 6 assists during those games. Are you happy with your performance? ”Yeah for the most part. I mean it’d be nice to have a winning record but we have a young group with a lot of room for growth. We weren’t expecting to make the playoffs but the way we started the season it’s nice to get some wins in right now. For my own performance it’s been alright. I’ve been struggling a bit on the face-off dot and that’s something I’ll be working on in the coming practices.” You had quite the exciting night against DC in a 10 round shootout the other night. Walk us through that game from your experience. ”Oh it was a blast! We were down 2 after 40 minutes but the boys battles hard and we got one back I think about 6 minutes into the third or so. We were back and forth with them all night but Nousiainen was able to tie it up with a little less than 3 minutes left in the game. OT was intense. Rose blocked three shots right in a row to start it off. A few posts were hit on both sides and I even laid a big hit on O’Quinn. Shootout was even more intense. A couple exciting moves with some fancy goals and a few close calls. Near the end the coach tapped me on the shoulder and I knew I had to score to keep us in it. I just kept it simple and was able to beat him short side. Nousiainen decided he didn’t want to play anymore and sniped one for us to win it in round 10. The boys were hyped and we all piled off the bench to swarm him. Oh it was an awesome night!” So far in 38 games you’ve scored 5 goals and 23 assists for 28 points. Is this the level of production you were expecting coming into this season? ”I wasn’t really sure what to expect honestly. Obviously my numbers would be down from the minors but I did have the time to develop a bit more which I’m thankful for. It’s tough to defend these guys but I’m constantly working hard to improve my game in all areas. I’m more of dedicated playmaker and I’m happy with the plays I’ve been making along with my overall passing game. Obviously there’s room for improvement but being in my rookie year it’s been a good experience so far.” What’s been the best part about London so far? Whether it be the team or the City itself. ”The city is great! The place I’m living I’m super happy with. It’s been a pretty easy transition overall and the fans have been very welcoming of a hockey franchise. It’s tough to perform for them since were young and the teams in this league are so talented. All the guys in the locker room are solid and we’re building good chemistry. It’s a grind and we’re all growing together. It’s been a bit of an adjustment driving on the left-hand side and sometimes I struggle with the accents but it’s great here. I’d love to spend my career in London but we’ll see what the future holds.” That’s all the time we have for today unfortunately. Thanks to Alec for taking the time to speak with us and best of luck with the rest of the season! We’ll be watching as he continues to grow into one of London’s future stars. 611 words
  15. Review: Another great graphic from a great member. Your edits are unreal and they always blow me away. The theme seems to flow quite well here and I like that background selection. The only thing I’m unsure about is that line that runs across the entire length at shoulder height. Sick font style choice and colour theme flows well. Overall I’d give it a 9.5/10
  16. Review: Love this graphic! The player render is solid and the logo looks natural on the crest. Nice touch with the VHL logo on the collar as well. That font style fits the theme quite well along with the old school style Moscow in the background. Great job, looking forward to more of these in the future! 10/10
  17. Press Conference for the week ending on Sunday October 4th. 1. We have a 6-3-1 record in our last 10 games. What are some things we’ve done to get this recent success? 2. With our recent success we’ve been able to pull ahead of both Warsaw and LA in the standings. Do you think we can keep climbing the ranks a bit or fall down to last again? 3. After a somewhat shaky start Seattle has bounced back up the standings. What do you think the chances are they win back-to-back cups? 4. With the news our AGM Sonnet is stepping away from the league, what kind of effect does that have on you? 5. Do you use a certain jersey number and why? 6. What’s your favourite thing about London? @TTtheT @MattyIce @SirRupertBarnes @Boragina @Biggreen10 @der meister @Ninjaboi @SeamusSv @okochastar @Enorama @ZP16 @eaglesfan0366 @Nepto @Goliathus
  18. Review: This is a pretty cool graphic. I like the simplicity of it but it has every aspect that it needs. The thing that bugs me a little bit is the colour of the "C", the band around the neck, and the number on the arm doesn't match the colours of Mexico. The bands should match the colour of the team identity in my opinion. I do however that you implemented the logo onto the crest. The background is very unique and the colour scheme works with it. Font selection along with colours are also great there. Overall I'd rate this 8.5/10. If you made those minor changes I'd probably give it a 9.5 or even a 10/10. Great job though! Keep up the good work.
  19. Today we’re talking with London United Rookie, Alec Volchenkov. Volchenkov has played in 24 games and put up 4 goals along with 16 assists for 20 points. His defensive game has been quite strong with 46 hits and 19 shots blocked despite being a -19 rating on the year. How easy has the transition been for you from the VHLM to the majors here in London? “It’s been a new but fun experience so far. I loved the people in Ottawa and they knew me there so being in a new city takes some time but I’m getting settled and able to get into my normal routine has been good. After taking last season to develop more there have been some expectations on me to perform well and I feel as though I’ve been able to live up to that to some degree so far. All in all it’s been a pretty seamless transition I believe.” Are you happy with your play against some of the greatest players in the world so far? “Yeah it’s been tough playing against them, they’re so skilled and it takes everything you have in you to compete with them but it’s a blast being here. I’ve been looking forward to playing here since Draft day and it’s been nothing but good times so far. Our record isn’t the best but we have a young corp and the future's looking bright. Especially since we have a couple prospects in the pipeline who will debut likely next season and just make us even better. In a couple seasons I feel we’ll be in playoff contention but it's a tough league so we’ll see how it goes.” Well that’s all the time we have for today. Thank you to Alec Volchenkov for taking the time to talk with us. London definitely has high hopes for him when they used their first ever draft choice to select him last season 12th overall. So far he hasn’t disappointed but we’ll be keeping an eye on his performance as he continues in his rookie season. 345 words
  20. Review: This is so sick! This is a super unique design and it’s really awesome! The entirety of the graphic follows the theme, right from the background to the font style. My only slight complaint is the old name is peeking through just below Thightrap. The colour scheme works really well and they compliment each other. Overall this is really cool though! I love the design! 9.8/10
  21. 1. Not at all. We’re a rebuilding team and it’s gonna take time. Give it another season or two and we’ll be hopeful to make the playoffs. For now we just have to keep growing. 2. Drafting well is easily the most important aspect. They’ve done a good job with asset management and have made some smart moves. They’re just ahead on the timetable but give it time for our prospects to grow more and we’ll be better than them. 3. All of our players are doing quite well individually. We’re growing as a team and getting chemistry built. I’m surprised we’re scoring as much as we are honestly. I would’ve thought we’d get shut down a little more but our weakest point right now isn’t our offence. 4. I feel I’m living up to the expectations I had for myself so far along with the expectations fans and management had for me as well. It’s been a good start to my rookie year and I look forward to growing and just getting better from here. 5. Vancouver and Riga are tearing it up right now but Seattle has a good roster and I feel they have a good chance at winning back-to-back cups. 6. I don’t drink tea too often but when I do it’s either mint green tea or honey lemon. I do like blueberry as well which is good for breakfasts I find
  22. It wasn’t the first thing I noticed but I try to thoroughly examine everything to give an accurate review. I’m looking forward to seeing more in the future!
