  1. ? I certainly wouldn't mind coming back to Hali as an AGM
  2. I'll throw my hat in here, been interested in the GM aspect of the league just never took the opportunity
  3. The fact that Eller is malleable and already has a strong FO stat puts him higher on the list for me, especially with how deep this draft is defensively the higher end offensive talent comes at a premium. Then again I draft really weird compared to most but that's my 2 cents
  4. Here we go, 1000 word VHL.com article coming right up. we've gone through the first three picks together, let's see what's going on at number four. It's the goddamn HC DAVOS DYNAMO The Veterans: S62 - Jake Davis - 880 TPA - RW //Davis is a powerhouse player, the second highest TPE on the roster this late into his career. It's hard to draft a replacement to such a talented, long term player, but the need is there with Davis' seasons running short. S61 - Matt Thompson - 1009 TPA - LW //Thompson is the essence of a true VHL star, staying past the 1000 TPE mark even at the end of his career. I may be wrong but I believe that down the line there is a HOF case to be made for Thompson's career. Another BIG pair of shoes to be filled by the incoming class. S62 - Ryuu Crimson - 696 TPA - LW //When a program sees the majority of it's core enter the end of their careers, it's a pretty clear indicator of rebuild on the horizon. Crimson may have not stayed at as high of TPA as our previous two vets, but at 696 TPA he's still a strong winger to be reckoned with. He also reveals the soon to be glaring hole in Davos' offense, as 3 wingers near retirement. S62 - Shawn Glade - 677 TPA - D //Shawn is also an integral part of Davos' program who's reaching the end of their days. With 4 vets the Dynamo have the oldest core of any team we've done analysis on so far, and what's most worrying is every veteran player is 600+ TPA, the mark of an effective player in the VHL. The program has to hope it's younger players can catch up quickly or Davos will feel the effects, hard. The Inactives: //Davos has 0 true inactives. There's a couple players that missed last week and some who are a bit patchy with updates, but the whole roster is technically active. With a whopping FOUR players affected by veterancy or inactivity, Davos' active roster consists of: S67 - Aston Martin - 460 TPA - C S67 - Bjorn Scoringsonn - 421 TPA - D S66 - Charlie Paddywagon - 599 TPA - D S65 - Elasmobranch Fish - 590 TPA - D S64 - John Madden - 789 TPA - C S65 - Katie Warren - 585 TPA - RW S65 - Smitty Werbenjagermanjensen - 820 TPA - D S64 - Finn Davison - 851 TPA - G So Davos' non-retiree roster runs 1 RW, no LWs, 2 Cs, 4 D, and a goalie. of these 8 players 4 have passed the 600* TPE mark, 3 skaters and the goalie, leaving a pretty solid core behind to help build the program back up. however it also leaves a pretty evident hierarchy of needs: 1. WINGERS You have a strong wing core NOW, but they're all about to retire. On the bright side you have 2 seasons to develop them into stronger players but you need that hole filled quik. 2. GOALIES Build your next starter now. Davison is a solid goalie but he's a vet at the end of next season. If you can land a solid goalie to play backup for a bit he'll come into the starting position as a developed goaltender. 3. CENTERS You have 2 decent centers, Madden is a really solid player, but like Davison he's a season from veterancy. Drafting now gives you a chance to build the replacement you're going to need when the time comes. 4. DEFENSE I don't really need to explain this one do I? After all that nonsense and blah blah blah at 4th overall the HC Davos Dynamo are likely to select: TEEMU LEHTINEN JR. Lehtinen isn't a huge stretch for Davos, sitting 6th on the board TPE wise and surrounded by defensemen. At this stage in the draft we will have likely seen the top 2 players off the board taken alongside Eller or Underyew, or maybe Flowers will stay on the board leaving Lehtinen the top forward at #4. Either way it makes the most sense for Davos to make this selection with 3 wingers nearing retirement and a distinct lack of the position on their depth chart. With the draft in an hour, here's my FINALIZED top 4 picks. CONDOR ADRIENNE FRANS ELLER/THORNY UNDERYEW LANCE FLOWERS/REMAINING CENTER TEEMU LEHTINEN JR. Enough words, make me a VSN writer
  5. Ah okay, I was writing based off what the portal displayed. Not going to go through and edit the whole article over but if Kovalchuk is in Seattle then Lance Flowers becomes the best choice at 3rd overall.
  6. 1. Perfect, Halifax gave me the best reintroduction to the league I could ask for, met a lot of old friends and made a lot of new ones. If I'm lucky I'll be back for S68. 2. It's always better to lose to the best than to watch the guys who beat you get tossed around in the next round, but a loss is still a loss and nothing can make that feel good per se. 3. Probably Thorny Underyew, sure OTT also had Miniti who had an outstanding seaon, but Underyew produced when it mattered and was present everywhere at all times. 4. With how late into the draft I'm likely to go, it's really difficult to say. I hope to be with one of the new expansion teams or a younger program that's just starting to regain it's footing, but at the end of the day you're being drafted to go pro. It's hard to complain about going anywhere. 5. I couldn't tell you, I'm way too uninvolved in the pro aspect at the moment to make that call. 6. Ye.
  7. You've seen Malmo, you've seem New York, now get ready for everything that's wrong with: SEATTLE BEARS The Veterans: //Seattle doesn't have a single player older than S65, making them one of the youngest teams in the league, if not THE youngest. The Inactives: S67 - Boone Jenton - 307 TPA - D //Despite the freshness of the program, Seattle has a lot of well developed rookies. Jenton sits at the bottom of the teams depth chart across ALL positions, making his loss somewhat insignificant to the franchise. S65 - Carles Puigdemont - 475 TPA - D //Although Puigdemont is the eldest member of the Seattle squad, he held an important position as the team's highest TPE defenceman. His role is a big one to fill, and with S68 being the last season before depreciation hits him he won't be able to hold that role well for much longer. S66 - Shane Mars - 381 TPA - LW //The TPA doesn't necessarily show it, but Mars has been an impact player for the Bears every season he's played for them. Putting up 154 points in 144 games, Mars leaves a gaping hole in Seattle's offense, however he also hasn't really slowed down and still has time before depreciation kicks in, so his role on the team hasn't exactly been eliminated yet. S66 - Valeri Morozov - 312 TPA - LW //Unlike Mars, Morozov has little impact on the ice and his TPA sits near the bottom of Seattle's depth. His role is easily filled and as a player he can be seen as almost disposable. With the lowest inac/vet count by far, Seattle is only down 4 players from their roster. However the Bears are short staffed as is, meaning they have an active roster of: S67 - Acyd Burn - 464 TPA - LW S67 - Ambrose Stark - 409 TPA - D S67 - Berocka Sundqvist - 200 TPA (177 Banked) - LW S67 - Henrik Zoiderberg - 425 TPA - LW S67 - Hulk Hogan - 471 TPA - D S66 - John Frostbeard - 505 TPA - RW S67 - Kevin Low - 399 TPA - D S67 - Scott Greene - 445 TPA - C S67 - Rayz Funk - 585 TPA - G So Seattle is effectively playing with 3 LWs, 1 RW, 1 C, 3 D, and a goalie. With this active roster the Bear's hierarchy of needs comes out to: 1. CENTERS When you have not only 1 active center but 1 center total that's a problem. However just because this tops the list as far as needs goes doesn't mean stretching for a center would be the best option here, as the team is generally well rounded positionally outside of this one spot. 2. DEFENSE With your current best defenseman about to give out and only 3 remaining active, it would make the most sense to fill out the spot that's about to open up. 3. GOALIES You don't have 2 goalies on roster, which is the only reason this ranks higher than wingers. 4. WINGERS You have 4, they're all solid, one is your best skater. Clearly the concern doesn't lie here. So this is where the problem lies. With NY Eller made the most sense as they needed a center DESPERATELY and they needed on with FO. Seattle needs another center, yes, but with how young the team is the roster is volatile, players could easily fall inac. So even though the stretch to Underyew is much smaller than the stretch to Eller was, Seattle may just be best off taking the best player on the board. So in a split decision I'll leave this up to draft time, at third overall Seattle will take: LANCE FLOWERS/THORNY UNDERYEW I really can't make the call here, Seattle is in a tough position as far as who they should take, but really they can't lose with either player. If Seattle's roster stays active they're brewing a powerhouse team that will be challenging for the Founder's Cup by S70 at the latest. Whoever they pick up in the first round will be a perfect fit in this young program. 660 Words
  8. When I’m looking at the member as their PLAYER and not their PERSON, yeah strictly off of updating determined activity.
  9. Last updated Aug. 11th, a month of no updates is inac in my book
  10. Error on my part, I wasn't paying close enough attention edit: only furthers the argument thought, it's an even smaller TPE gap between Eller and Flowers than I had initially thought.
  11. So with Malmo now completed for team analysis, we move on to #2 in the draft order: NEW YORK AMERICANS The Veterans: S63 - Chase Trepanier - 270 TPA - LW //Chase is not only a vet, he's inactive as well. However he sit's rather low on NYA's depth chart so despite needing replaced, his loss is not a huge hit to the franchise. S63 - Kisshan Shan - 337 TPA - RW //Despite the relatively low TPA, Shan ranks 6th highest in the program for TPA among all players. Immediately we see a need for offense in NY without even reaching the list of pure inactives. The Inactives: S66 - Edgar Tannahill - 199 TPA - LW //Another winger dead in the water, however almost any player drafted at this position in the first 2-3 rounds will come into the program with more TPE than Tannahill, making him an insignificant loss. S64 - Kyson Blake - 319 TPA - D //Blake is a quik offensive defenseman that plays like a winger at defense. Not well. Despite the decent TPA for the program his liability on defense makes his inactivity a blessing in disguise almost, especially with depreciation rolling in now. Even a late round defenseman should provide better than -26 on the backend. S66 - Ludvig Sederstrom - 235 TPA - C //As the fourth forward NY has seen vanish from their core, It's becoming more and more apparent where the organization's troubles arise from. On the bright side, Sederstrom is a center with 60 FO, making almost any replacement a better fit for the position. S66 - Maximilian Kirbsson - 275 TPA - C //Another non-center center, Kirbsson has a 50 FO stat and invisible impact. NYA's forward core appears to be nonexistent. S67 - RJ Lloris - 200 TPA - RW //Forward bad. S66 - Walter Clements - 267 TPA - C //Is New York where forwards go to die or is this program run off of FA inactives? S66- Kolur Bjonernsson - 294 TPA - G //Now this is actually upsetting, a promising starting goalie gone inactive. This will become a need very quickly for the program however with so many other holes to fill it's not the top priority, especially with Gunnarsson on the up and up. With 9 players gone inac or entering the last days of their career, NYA is left with an active roster of: S67 - ACL TEAR - 515 TPA - RW S66 - Aleksander Rodriguez - 454 TPA - RW S66 - Blake Laughton - 300 TPA - RW S67 - Boris the Forest - 465 TPA - C S67 - Guy LeGrande - 435 TPA - D S66 - Nethila Dissanayake - 380 TPA - RW S64 - Piotr Jerwa - 499 TPA - D S67 - Thorvald Gunnarsson - 200 TPA (83 Banked) - G Which means NY is running with 4 RWs, no LWs, 1 C, 2 D, and a goalie. Not a single player has passed 600 TPE, leaving effectively a roster of rookies and hacks. This ultimately leaves NYA with this hierarchy of needs: 1. CENTERS Dude just, fuck, you guys have 1 center. One. That's like really bad. Fix that. 2. DEFENSE Some of your strongest players are on defense, that's good. You only have two of them, that's bad. You can probably afford to take a later round defenseman as a trade off to filling your gaping offensive holes. 3. WINGERS You have enough active wingers for 2 lines, take them if they're your best option without stretching but not even close to the biggest concern. 4. GOALIES Gunnarsson is good, get a backup in FA or run with who you have. That TO ME, makes the 2nd overall pick a bit of a surprise but A necessary one for New York's program. At 2nd overall, the New York Americans will select: FRANS ELLER Why Frans Eller? Eller currently has 270 TPE, 70 of which is banked. Not only does this give NY a "VHL ready" center right out the gate, it gives the GM a chance to influence the players build in a way that will best help the program. You're taking a sizable TPE cut from Lance Flowers, who has roughly 60 TPE more, but the need of the program is in such a dire position that taking that cut not only seems necessary, it seems like the best option. You don't have to agree with my picks, but that's what I would do in NY's position. This is a VHL.com article but it's long so I posted it here.
  12. This is far too many numbers and letters thrown at me at this hour At this ungodly hour? I can barely do math in the day
  13. With the draft coming up very soon, I decided to do an in depth analysis of every VHL team's needs, rank said needs, and then do a round or so of draft projections accounting for said needs. So let's begin, shall we? MALMO NIGHTHAWKS The Veteran(s): S61 - Mikka Pajari - 355 TPA - C //Pajari is at this point a placeholder effectively, having reached the end of his career and being smacked by depreciation. However he sits 4th at center depth so his role is not a hard one to fill. Shockingly he's also the only player I'd consider a veteran on Malmo's entire roster. The Inactives: S64 - Basaraba Moose - 377 TPA - D //Moose hasn't updated since the week of June 9th, a period of nearly 3 months. Unless he returns to the league it's likely he will be dropped and need a replacement. With Moose being the third highest TPA defenseman in Malmo, this raises concerns for the organization. S65 - Jack Lynch - 490 TPA - RW //Lynch has been quiet since July 28th, only just over a month. The recency could see a return from the winger but a loss of his talents would be damaging to Malmo's core, with Lynch sitting second in RW depth. S67 - Lucas Nygren - 365 TPA - RW //It's ADV's player he'll be back. S65 - Milan Griffin - 200 TPA - LW //Griffin has been gone since May, and the noticeable downtick in activity leading up to his fully inac status leads me to believe he won't be seen again. With only 200 TPA his role will be filled immediately should a LW be taken so it's not really the end of the world, however this is the 3rd inactive winger Malmo has seen, calling attention to the positional need. S66 - Rusty Shackleford - 462 TPA - D //Shackleford brings a major concern to Malmo's D core, as the second best defenseman on the team and about a month of inactivity. Losing him will put Malmo in dire need of defensive talent, as they would be left with only 2 "fresh" defensemen and a true rookie as their whole core. S66 - Juan Juandice - 200 TPA - G //Inac since June and only filling a backup position, Juandice is probably the least concerning of all the player on the inactives list. With a total of 7 players either inac or near retirement, Malmo is looking at an active roster of: S67 - Brendan Plunkett - 200 TPA (44 Banked) - LW S65 - Brian Strong - 332 TPA - RW S67 - Dalton Wilcox - 200 TPA (129 Banked) - RW S67 - Hugh Chan - 323 TPA - D S66 - Jerry Garcia - 606 TPA - D S67 - Koda Adok - 224 TPA - LW S64 - Matthew Materazo - 759 TPA - RW S66 - MORPHEUS DESTRUCTIOUS - 280 TPA - D S67 - Phil Marleau - 460 TPA - C S65 - Teagan Glover - 468 TPA - C S67 - Trevor Van Lagen - 458 TPA - C S67 - Michael Johnson - 434 TPA - G Which means we're looking at 2 LWs, 3 RWs, 3 Cs, 3 D, and a goalie. Only 2 of these players have exceeded the 600 TPE mark, where assuming a true VHL "star" reaches 1000 TPE and a true rookie has 200 TPE, 600 makes you a pretty solid player. Those players are Jerry Garcia and Matthew Materazo, at 606 and 759 respectively. Taking all of this into account, Malmo's "hierarchy of needs" is as follows: 1. DEFENSE Malmo doesn't have enough defensemen for 2 lines, so their top priority will be to look at filling that defensive hole on their roster. 2. WINGERS The offense if pretty well off assuming all players stay active, but with a very young core (unproven activity-wise) and a shortage at LW, wingers fall into Malmo's second category. 3. CENTERS The centers are here already, just encourage them to all go past 80 FO and you're practically golden for the time being. They're all near the 500 TPE mark as well making them promising players for Malmo's program. 4. GOALIES You have an active starter, find a new backup in FA or sign someone late, goaltending isn't a huge priority here. SO, after tearing apart the roster, finding the needs and all that garbage, we can look at the S68 draft board. The top three prospects are all defensemen, and with Malmo picking first, the first overall pick of the S68 draft is without question, CONDOR ADRIENNE I'll do the rest of the teams soon but this took too long for me to make the obvious choice so you get Malmo and you'll be happy with it. 746 Words
  14. 1. Right now it's redemption, I blew my last player I want to see through a full career with Jerry Wang. 2. Initially no, after messing with my build I realize I need to change a lot to bring me back to where I want to be. 3. Mostly just the whole satanic cult thing that they have going on but other than that great group of guys. 4. I'd love to come back to Hali for another season but there's very few programs I'd dislike playing for. 5. Alexander Pepper because we used to be BOYS. 6. Not particularly, I'm sure I'll have more opinions on that when I'm in the VHL though. 7. I'm building a scoring winger based on speed but it's not working out so far. 8. I'm not sure I understand the question. 9. Probably a different name than the "21st", kind of strange. 10. It's not really about how far you go it's more who you play with.
  15. Oh I thought you were questioning if I understood experience points, I didn’t realize you were so dense that you couldn’t comprehend “application” referencing your joke of a solution. Ya know because that’s how the word works.
  16. I like your concept but your application is brutal
  17. With Halifax's playoff run coming to a bittersweet end, Jerry Wang is left with only one thing on the horizon: The S68 Draft. During his time in Halifax Wang was less than spectacular when it came to putting up points and was nearly absent in the playoffs, something you cannot be playing on the second line. Where Wang was present was what nobody expected, his physicality. Wang had 32 hits in 42 games during the regular season, and 13 in 11 during the playoffs. But what does any of this mean in terms of the draft? Ranked 44th in the S68 draft class, Wang is going as a mid-draft pick, most likely in the 4th or 5th round. At 119 TPE his odds of moving up the rankings are slim to none, but a slip-up could easily send him crashing down the rankings. However TPE isn't all there is to a selection, and that's where Jerry's distinct lack of production will start to affect him. Within the 40-50 rank range, Balentine Kidd is the only player ahead of Wang in the rankings that looks threatening, however the quickly growing players behind him are where the danger lies. I'm writing these lines ahead of me looking at players and I'm realizing I'm not in as deep of shit as I has anticipated. None of the players below rank 44 appear to be of any sort of threat to Wang's position on the board in the slightest. However it is highly unlikely we see Wang break out of the ~40 range without a significant TPE boost, such as the biography. Note to self: finish the fucking biography already. So with the who, what, when, and why pretty much covered, we come to WHO will draft the Singaporean winger. Reports say that at this point 3 total teams have contacted Jerry Wang with either a feeler survey or expressing interest in the player. When Wang was approached about where he wanted to end up, we got a different response than in times past. "I want to be on the expansion teams, either one.", Wang said, "There's something really appealing about coming in as the underdog and making an impact on what will be a historical franchise. The first team is a landmark team in terms of expansion and you get a chance to mold the future of that franchise. That excites me." The expansion teams already have some promising prospects in their GM players, and the expansion draft has yet to happen, leaving a lot of potential powerhouses on the board. Both @diamond_ace and @Enorama have their new GM players currently residing in the VHLM as well, however both will not be eligible until the S69 draft. Eno's George Washington currently sits at 131 TPE and put up 4 points in his 11 playoff games with the Halifax 21st. DA's Dagmar Havlova however remains a free agent with only 52 TPE. Wang stated that getting the chance to play with George again would be an interesting experience and one he hopes for, as his short tenure as his teammate was an enjoyable one on Wang's end. 523 Words
  18. 1. There is no rush. 2. There is no rush. 3. Nolan really exemplifies the play we need for me, +1, 8 points, staying out of the box, he's doing everything that needs done. 4. The who? 5. I'd have to say the Storm, Philly has been dominant all season, that's a scary squad to go up against. 6. If you've never seen an undead general powder his beard then you've never truly seen a ridiculous playoff beard.
  19. 1. No need to prepare, Yukon is trash. There is no Rush. 2. I’d like to see my game come back to where it was. Playing on the second line I need to be an impact player and I haven’t been since my first 10 games. 3. The obvious answer is to say Philly but I think everybody here can put up a strong fight for the cup. 4. I haven’t been paying too close attention to the VHL this season so I can’t say. 5. I’m torn on the situation. 6. Ideally I want to end up on one of the expansion teams, expansion has always excited me in this league and any league really.
  20. +7 for theme week & all complete
  21. sorry for lower quality made on my phone at work because it was a slow day, if it’s not to standard I’ll probably write something in media spot later to make up for it
