We got the only 66-overall player, though. Guess my build is only good for that.

    S62 WJC Awards

This season marked the long-awaited return of the World Junior Championship. The commissioner team (@Banackock, @BarzalGoat and myself) would like to congratulate @Jubo07 on leading Team Canada to gold medal glory and every other General Managers @Dtayl, @ShawnGlade, @TheLastOlympian07, @Enorama, on being good leaders for their respective teams throughout the event. And now, without further ado, we are honoured to present to you your Season 62 World Junior Championship award recipients: Top Forward - Leph Twinger (CAN) @DollarAndADream A case could have been made for Jake Davis or Sergei Kovalev to win this award but, in the end, Leph Twinger was the most important offensive weapon for his team when it most counted and that's what makes him the most deserving of this award. Twinger led all Canadian players with 8 goals in the round robin, before exploding for 4 goals and 2 assists in 2 games in the medal round, including a 3-1-4 performance in the 6-5 win over Team Asia in the final of the tournament. Top Defenseman - Maxim Kovalchuk (ASA) @Banackock Maxim Kovalchuk paced all defensemen in the tournament with a total tally of 19 points in 10 games. He was also the defensemen that collected the most shots on goal, with 62. On top of being an extraordinary offensive defenseman, Kovalchuk proved to be an efficient defensive force, gathering 15 hits and 18 blocked shots, while playing over 26 minutes per game. His contribution to Team Asia's success is undeniable and is only tainted by their tough loss to Team Canada in the final. Top Goaltender - Ismond Kingfisher (USA) @Spade18 There were some heated discussions as to who should win this award. Granted, Kevin Weekes held the fort for Team Canada throughout the Championship, but this was more a team performance than a solo act. On the other side, Ismond Kingfisher gave a chance for Team USA to win every evening, even with their offensive woes. He is the only goaltender that received north of 300 shots during the 8-game round robin, but he somehow maintained a 0.937 save percentage, with the overall average being 0.903%. He had a rough showing in the semi-final and couldn't lead his team to a spot in the final, but he is definitely the number one reason why Team USA came out of these WJC with a bronze medal. MVP - Jake Davis (CAN) @Reives While Jake Davis wasn't even named the tournament's Top Forward, we couldn't just turn down his overall contribution to team Canada's success. He led Twinger by one point atop Canada's leaderboards, trailing Team Asia's Kovalev by 3, but he notched at least as many hits and shots blocked as both of them. He also led everyone not named Cayden Saint with a differential of +11. Just like Twinger, he capped off an incredible tournament with an incredible performance against Team Asia in the final, scoring 2 goals, including the gold medal-winning goal, and adding 2 assists along the way. Congratulations to everyone that won an award and thanks to everyone that participated in the event! Staff, GMs, players, you all helped making this first edition of the World Junior Championship since Season 55 a successful one! Hopefully this is merely the first of many successful WJCs.
  9. Ottawa already has 6 defensemen, so we will have to pass, sadly. Like Trifecta said, however, we are in the first round of the playoffs, they should be done in about a week, then you'll get drafted to a team for sure.

  11. 1a) I did the math the other day and I'm getting somewhere around 13 to 15, don't remember exactly. Hits are a huge part of this. I hope I would get more from +/- or shots blocked, but playing on Ottawa's first defenseman pair isn't all that easy, we're facing all the top lines around, all your Shawinganen-Borwinn-Revchenko, or your Crimson-Flipachyev with Tzuyu-Nguyen on defense. 2) I like that. VHLM is a development league meant to give everyone a good taste of the VHL, but also get them to enjoy the concept of the league. Wild Card round means one more team gets to enjoy the playoffs. 3) I applied for that job, but probably shot myself in the foot by telling everyone how I've been racking every job possible for the last month or so. Glad Trifecta got it, I'm sure he'll do great. If I'm not mistaken, it's not his first gig as GM so he'll be well placed to teach the ways of the VHL to newer players. I feel like I would have done a good job as well, but I may not be experienced enough to really father the rookies before their VHL careers really kick off. 4) Bit late for this one, but like I said earlier, I'm glad Trifecta got it, he deserves it! 5) I really really hope we can bury our rough regular season in the past and actually beat Vegas 4 times. And quickly. We've had trouble playing against them this year, but I think we can get through them and meet with Halifax in the finals (because this series is a given, right?) 6) I'm not going to say how I think the final result looks like, but I'll say writing stuff and discussing future article subjects with these guys has been a blast so far. Shoutout to the mag team!
  12. We already got 6 defensemen in Ottawa, so I'm afraid we will have to pass. Hit me up if you got questions about the league, though.
  13. You're always supposed to have a space before and after the following in French : ; ! ? Source: the internet, even I didn't know that.
  14. I'd love to be a GM, obviously, but with the wave of jobs I recently got (VHLM Mag Writer, WJC Commish, Updater), I feel like I'm hogging them and should leave some for other new members. Still throwing my name in the hat, though, but I would not be mad if you pass on me.
  15. @ColeMrtz21 The logo looks awesome in there. GG Boom
  16. But there was no VHLM in S1. So yes, it's S62 but only the 61st season. Thanks, man!
