Bana Blabs #60 Hello, VHL. It is officially less than a week away before I leave for Australia and I am having quite the rollercoaster of emotions. I'm excited and I'm sure it'll go fine, but I'm also nervous and all of that too. It's a pretty significant, crazy change. Either way, I can't wait to see all the beauty down under. Feb 26 at 1430 MTN we leave! For the VHL side of things, lots has been going on in the league. Trade deadline and theme week were here - one of the best time of the season. With these two things, lots to blab about. LETS GO! My player, Mikhail Kovalchuk, made it through deadline day and remains with London. The United have had a strong season and are one of 6 teams within a bubble to try and make playoffs in the Euro division. So far, Kovalchuk is 3rd on the team for points, with 6 goals and 48 assists through 52 games played. His best season so far! The Seattle Bears made a big trade for Tavish DeGroot @rory during the Trade Deadline days. It was a trade in the works and took a little bit of time. There was a few partners other than Riga before swooped in and made things way easier. Seattle essentially sent Florida Man to Davos for a S88 1st which Seattle then shipped off for Tavish DeGroot. "Tavish was a huge part to the team before we parted ways in the off-season. It wasn't an easy move for either side. I think both were committed to making things work. The money just wasn't there. They're a huge part to the game was play, the locker room and even the leadership of the team. I think they're going to make a huge impact for us!" Vasile Lamb @dlamb is NOW a Seattle Bear. How crazy is that? Even with their first player I was a massive fan and I think made an attempt or two at acquiring them. This go around, the Lamb agency has brought us Vasile and the moment I heard there was even an off chance they were available, we immediately reached out notifying DCD we had the winning deal. DCD just had to figure some things out, but once they did, it worked out for everyone. "I cannot even start to think of how I can explain how excited I am to have this deal happen for Seattle today. We were struggling a bit after a hot start to our season. Things were tight throughout the VHL for rosters and money, so moves weren't looking like they were going to happen. I've always respected and been a fan of the Lamb agency, so the moment some word got around they might be being shopped, we jumped into action. They're a very, very good player. The points, goals and shot totals they have this year is exactly what Seattle's plan of attack was. We had an overabundance of quality D. We need some firepower upfront. We ship out Florida Man (W) who was a bit older for a price we can use to grab Tavish DeGroot. Tavish swaps from D to W. Then we acquire Vasile Lamb for Deron Nesbitt (FA at seasons end, likely to test) and a pick in a draft that is, at the moment, forecasting to be a little weaker. It was a good trade for both ways. Bana Blabs #59 S87 VHL Standings Hello, VHL. Hope everything is going good for each member that is reading this. What's going on with Bana? Got all our documents printed out and loaded into a drive, got all our luggage stuff kind of ready to go, have started very minor small talks and have taken care of other "to do's" for Australia. Crazy to think it's 11 days away. Scary! Also, exciting! For the VHL, we're over half the way to playoffs and theme week/trade deadline are HERE! Kovalchuk is doing good things, Seattle not as much. Let's BLAB! Kovalchuk is doing good this season. That makes me happy. His career feels more alive. No knocks to Prague, I just wasn't super active in there towards the end. Always pop in like I do in London though! Both good places to play. Seattle sucks something fierce. Can't score goals, can't prevent goals and the roster which looks good on paper, isn't good on the ice. Deadline is on the 20th, right? I'm just trying to remember off the top of my head. Curious to see what there's going to be for movement and whispers this season. Things seem tight! Theme week is an okay idea. I didn't really explore it too much and just did a basic article. Some have actually been cool. For me, it's rarely about what I write about. It's fun to see what others think and write about! bye

REMEMBERING RIVALRIES Theme week is here in the Victory Hockey League and it's truly hard to believe. While some would say the off-season took forever, I'd assume those same people are maybe also thinking that the season is flying by. The season had started, I blinked my eyes and now were all of a sudden in the middle of the season (42-44 games into) and the trade deadline is fast approaching. While things are shaping up in all 3 leagues, the official blues of the league have introduced a theme week that is surely going to be a bit of fun for the VHL community. The theme week for this S87's seasonal theme week is 'rivalries" and I think it's a pretty good one. In the last 40-50 seasons, I'm sure we've had to of done this, right? Despite that, I think it's a good enough one that someone always has a story about a fun rivalry or even one that somewhat resembles the article's introduction gif. So when I think back during my time here, what are some of my biggest rivalries? Hmm.. Seattle VS Calgary It seems like, especially in the 70's, that whenever Seattle was in the playoffs, we played Calgary a lot. It was almost a given that each year the teams made playoffs, their paths would cross. For quite a few seasons during this time, they did. I think when I look back on it I remember Seattle doing fairly well. There may have been a time or two when Seattle was down and out in the series and came crawling back to win it all. Every time these teams played, there was always such a rivalry for awhile. Seattle VS Chicago There was a time in the 70's again I think where these two had some pretty bad blood. Does it still exist on this side? Less than what it used to be but it's probably still there. Just not as intense, now as an experience/history and surely not as heated as it felt sometimes. I guess even more less because a lot of the original members are no longer with either team. However, I do remember that this was probably one of the more strong rivalries during my time as GM. I remember myself and the team wanting to win and feeling the fire when you did and even didn't win. VHL GM's VS ROBBIE This one was a lot of fun. Robbie was a polarizing member that liked to troll and fuck around. Often times, he'd push well passed the line, be a complete asshole and then say he has more up his sleeve and to stay tuned for next weeks episode. Honestly? I had Robbie on the Bears twice and I actually remember liking him when he was a member. He was good in the locker rooms and all of that stuff. So, outside noise separate, he was good to the Bears, while being a Bear, in the Bear's locker room. HOWEVER, Robbie really went silly at the end and started doing a bunch of stuff only Robbie could do. To this day he claims he never would have accepted an offer, but there wasn't any offers to accept. Robbie out Robbie'd himself and the GM's threw some rocks back by not signing his player at all. For the sake of it, his player was pretty good. Now all this wants me to want wanting Robbie back. 577 bye
