Bana Blab #55 - BIG BANA BROADCASTING Hello, VHL community! Hope everyone is doing good and that they're all enjoying the VHL. Lots has been going on for me the last little while and I'm excited to finally share the news (both VHL and life!). I won't keep y'all reading this word count fluff, let's go! The last 2 years have been crazy for myself. My partner at the time was going through cancer and chemotherapy. It was a crazy different time with just that alone. Toss in a Pandemic to make things interesting. We beat cancer and made it through it all. All I can say is it's quite the experience. I quit smoking cigarettes. It's been 808 days since my last cigarette/nicotine or anything related to it.. It's still tough rarely, but all is going good. Happy days here. My partner and I of 6 and some years split in April of 2022. It had been coming for a little bit before that and that's okay. It was a very healthy, mature and respectful separation. It's weird to think it sometimes but breaking up was very easy in the sense that we did it in a way that wasn't messy or toxic. Obviously it wasn't the easiest at the start but so much good and improvement has come from this event in my life. I had my fun and then met someone new. We've been hanging out for some time and of course, have been dating too. Things are mostly good! Overall, very happy. We get along very well, have good things in common and are also different too. 5. On January 19th, I put my resignation in for my job and gave them notice for February 23rd being my last day. January 23rd, they sent me home on a "leave" and I'm collecting my normal salary until my resignation date. Happily making $46/HR right now catching you all up on myself. It's kind of scary considering I have been there almost 8 years and in my manager role for 3... but I'm excited for what is coming next.. It's crazy and all that.. but it's going to be the adventure of a life time! AND LASTLY... 6. BANA IS MOVING TO AUSTRALIA! It's been a nice ride Canada, but for about a year, I AM OUT OF HERE. It's pretty crazy to think I have never left Canada before and have been on a plane ride once in my life. That plane ride happened to be in October of 2022 flying from Edmonton to Vancouver, Van to Kelowna and then obviously the trip back home as well. I was approved a working holiday visa in November and have been planning small things with my partner since. We're both going. Our tickets are booked for February 26th and we're excited (and nervous - me) as the countdown is starting to feel much more real (and closer). Right now, we have it planned that we will be spending a week in Sydney to adventure before heading over to Perth where we will spend most of our trip living (if it all works out that way). At some point in the trip, we're going to head over to New Zealand and Indonesia also and then towards the end we want to check out the East coast of Australia!
