  1. 1. We clinched the playoffs! And to add on to that, we by-passed the wild card round, and straight to the real deal! Riga :rig: is our round 1 opponent. How do you feel we match up with them? Do we have a chance? Riga's to lose? Series prediction?

I think we can definitely beat Riga, especially since we have a nativa Latvian in Girts Galvins on the team who will play great in road games in his hime country. Warsaw in 6.

    2.  How do you feel about the VHL playoffs as a whole? Is there a clear favourite? A team that you think will surprise everyone?

I think Seattle looks pretty strong but honestly I think we are going to surprise some people and make a deep run!

    3. Every single skater on our team scored a game winning goal this season. Kisslinger, Aberg, and Marner all tied for the team lead with 6. What does this say about our team?

It says we are a group of clutch players and that's what you need in the playoffs!

    4. Did you participate in theme week this season? Do you like the theme? Why or why not?

I don't think I did, not sure I knew about it, hopefully didn't miss any easy tpe.. ?

    5. What is the best flavour of Gatorade? If you don't know the exact name of the flavour, the colour works too

    Lemon Lime. Obviously.

    6. Now to the real NHL playoffs, which two teams do you have making it to the finals? I'm thinking Tampa and Colorado.

I picked Tampa Bay and Colorado in my bracket pre-playoffs so that's looking good at this point. Only thing that could screw it up is McDavid being McDavid but I don't see Mike Smith lasting through Colorado.

  2. Girts Galvins - LW - Warsaw Predators

    GIRTS1A.jpg

Girts Galvins took the ice for the Warsaw Predators in Season 83 as a VHL rookie after being selected 17th overall in the S82 Entry Draft. Girts came into his rookie year with around 420 tpe, top 15 or so in the class and is now closing in on 550 at the start of the playoffs. It was an interesting year with the VHL moving to the new attribute system and I think this really effected Girts numbers in his rookie season. During his time in the VHLM and VHLE he was a scoring superstar, racking up over 75 goals through 2 seasons, 43 in the VHLM and 32 in the VHLE, however his rookie season in the VHL would see him only score 7 goals and he had a horrible start of only 1 goal in the first 46 games. To say his rookie year wasn't what he expected in terms of his production would be an understatement. He came into the season thinking he would be able to contribute and perhaps even challenge for rookie of the year, but he barely did anything on the ice despite having a good amount of tpe. Galvins was on the 2nd line for Warsaw with good linemates but still couldn't produce for some reason. He saw no powerplay time all season and averaged under 19 minutes a game which may have been a factor but he understood his role and had no problem with it. While it appeared many other rookies were playing close to 30 minutes a game and powerplay which was a big reason for their production on smaller rosters, Warsaw had 7 forwards so they had to split up the minutes between Girts and veteran Brian Moreau, which is understandable. That said, it was probably one of the reasons his goals and overall stats were lower than other rookies of similar tpe and he also had an absurdly low shooting % of 4.29% which didn't help. He did add 20 assists which isn't bad but it was definitely frustrating at times not scoring, he didn't let it get him down though and he kept working hard every week to improve.

Team-wise Galvins and the Predators had a great season, so he was excited about that and while he wasn't producing much he also wasn't a liability out there, which definitely was a positive. He was also happy to see his fellow rookie and teammate Bran Payne having a great season as a top 4 defenseman for Warsaw and his ex teammate Bo Johansson from Bratislava having an awesome rookie season for Chicago. The Predators had a huge year as a team and finished top 4 in the league, top 3 in the dominant European Conference with a record of 46-21-5, good for 97 points. They earned a first round bye and have a good chance to go deep in the playoffs. It's possible Girts could finish off his rookie season with an exciting run to the cup but even if not it will be great to get some playoff experience.

Overall while Girts Galvins rookie season was a disappointment stats-wise it was a great success team-wise, so he's happy about it. You have to bide your time and earn your opportunities sometimes and there's no question Girts did that in his rookie season. He looks forward to more opportunities and better production in his sophomore season while hopefully being able to contribute to Warsaw's continued success!

  3. The Warsaw predators have officially clinched a playoff spot today after winning their last four consecutive games and 7 of their last 10! Warsaw has had a great season currently in third in the European conference with a record of 45–21-5 for 95 points and a solid +48 Goal differential! The Predators Have the fourth most points in the entire VHL and are now one of favorites for the cup. It’s been a fantastic season for Warsaw after missing the playoffs last year they could conceivably win the championship this year. Great job by GM Dlamb and company. Also Girts Galvins is up to 7 goals now in 71 games which is clearly the main reason for all their success!

  4. After scoring only 1 goal, yes 1 goal in like the first 45 games, rookie Girts Galvins now has an incredible 4 goals in 64 games. That's right, he has scored 4 goals in about the last 20 games, which is virtual fire considering his pace over the first half of this season, he even scored the game winner in a 1-0 win the other day which garnered much fanfare around the league. Now with Galvins scoring a goal roughly every 5 games, the Warsaw Predators are the team to beat, no question. They've been on fire lately and were up to top 5 in the league as of a few days ago. However I think we lost a few since then and are now top 7 or 8 but still pretty awesome. With Galvins scoring every 5 games it makes them more dangerous in the playoffs because in a 7 game series he will probably score 1 time, which let's face it could be an overtime game winner or double overtime because Girts is clutch and does cool things. So watch out for Warsaw and Girts Galvins in the post season (if they make it which they should).

  5. 1. Warsaw is in a tight EU race with London, Prague, and Helsinki. Which team out of the 4 will be the 1 to miss the post-season when all is said and done?

I think Helsinki will miss because Helsinki is stinky.

    2.  We currently have 3 players set to hit Unrestricted Free Agency at the end of the season - Bogdan Trunov, Brendan Marner, and Omi Aberg. What can we do to sway them to stick around in the Blue and Orange?

Offer them lots of money and the sign-in to all Brian Payne's only fan accounts

    3. Are you in any affiliate sim leagues? Have you ever been in one? Is there anything other leagues do that VHL doesn't that you would like to see here?

No the VHL seems fine the way it is.

    4. What VHL team has surprised you, either positively or negatively, through ~60 games of Season 83?

I think Warsaw surprised me, I didn't realize we were going to be this good, so it's pretty awesome.

    5. Out of the 4 series remaining in the NHL Playoffs, which series do you find the most interesting?

Calgary and Edmonton by far is the most interesting.

    6. What is one thing you can't live without?

Probably air, but I will go with food and water here.

    Warsaw Predators Press Conference :war:

Week Ending Sunday, May 15th, 2022

Answer 3 for 1 TPE, all 6 for 2 TPE.

    1. Warsaw's season has seemed to hit a turning point, and we are now one of the hottest 🔥 teams in the VHL. What changed that made us start playing winning hockey?

    2.  At the time of writing, Warsaw has played 48 of 72 games. Who is our team's MVP thus far?

    3. If the playoffs started today, we would face the Prague Phantoms in the play-in round. Who would be your idea round 1 opponent?

    4. 3 Game 7s in the NHL on Saturday, with BOS v. CAR, TOR v. TBL, and LAK v. EDM. Make your picks, which teams are moving on?

    5. The hot weather is finally here to stay where I am, with summer quickly approaching, do you have any plans to travel (or just big plans in general) now that most restrictions are lifted?

    6. If you could only drink one kind of pop/soda for the rest of your life, which would you choose?

    1. We are definitely hot, it's hard to say what changed but I think we just started getting some bounces because we weren't far off before. Also dlamb probably did some magic with the strategies.

    2. I think the MVP is obviously Girts Galvins because his refusal to score has allowed everyone else to score even more, so they are having great seasons! lol jk, I'd say it's a team effort but I'd probably say Kissingler.

    3. I'd say Prague would be ideal because we can beat the crap out of them, No offense Prague.

    4. CAR, TBL, EDM.

    5. No plans besides spending as much time in air conditioning as possible. Maybe going on a few trips then back to AC.

    6. Dr Pepper

  7. 2. Warsaw Predators , Girts Galvins 1 (Brian Payne 21, Zach Kisslinger II 26) at 5:02.

Well it finally happened! Warsaw rookie Girts Galvins scored his 1st VHL goal.. in just his 45th game! That's right folks, no longer is he a player who can't score in the VHL, he is a player who can score roughly once every 45 games, so watch out or you will miss his next goal in game 18 of next season! All kidding aside, it was a great feeling to finally light the lamp for the Warsaw Predators and contribute to a victory. Girts Galvins 1st goal was assisted by his long time teammate from Bratislava Brian Payne who must have decided this is getting ridiculous I better set up my boy Girts for a goal.  Zach Kisslinger also got in on the action and now shares some history with Girts. Now that Galvins has finally scored he's hoping he can get hot and help the Predators down the stretch with some clutch goal scoring. The team is doing well and are top 6 in the entire league so it looks as if they will make the playoffs despite Girts lack of production in his rookie season. I guess you can say Warsaw has been doing great without much contribution from rookie Galvins so if he can pick it up it could really give them a big boost heading into the post season.

  8. The Warsaw Predators of the VHL are heating up, they've won 4 in a row and 8 of their last 10 games. Currently sitting 5th in the European Conference with a record of 19-13-2 with 108 goals for and 93 goals against for a +15 goal differential. As it stands right now they are the hottest team in the league over the last 10 games, tied with Moscow with a 8-2 record in that stretch. The Predators have been playing great lately led by Bogdan Trunov who has a team leading 18 goals and 38 points along with Hari Singh Nalwa who also has 38 points but a team leading 32 assists! The Predators are also getting great production from Aberg (37), Kissinger (35), Marner (34, Welch (31) and Wilk (29) points. Degroot (21) and rookie Brian Payne (18) points are also playing well. Rookie Girts Galvins however is a complete disappointment so far with Zero goals and just 8 assists through 34 games. Other than that things are looking up for the Predators and this win streak is definitely a sign of things to come from this dangerous group. Only 4 points behind the Prague Phantoms with 2 games at hand, it's only a matter of time before we see Warsaw 4th in the European Conference. Things are looking good in Warsaw.

    1.  Have you ever fly fished - another hockey offseason sport (fishing anyway)?

    2.  Who is the best player you have seen live in a game?

    3.  Cake or pie?

     1. Yes I actually love fly fishing and go as much as possible, great that you asked this question!

    2. I've seen McDavid so I'd have to say him, was incredibly fast.

    3. Tough one, but I'll go with Cake.

    1. What's your favorite sport besides hockey and why?

    2. How would you feel if your player was a sniper and went 30 games without scoring?

    3. What's a cooler hockey peripheral stat, hits or blocks and why?

  10. With Zero goals, yes amazingly zero goals through 20 games, Girts Galvins has decided to burn his current stick and all his back up sticks and get a completely new stick and sponsor. Galvins was playing with Warrior sticks the past 2 seasons and lighting it up in the VHLM and then VHLE quickly becoming known as a highly skilled young goal scorer with a bright future. Then came this season his VHL debut for Warsaw and despite playing 2nd line he has not scored a single goal and is barely averaging over 2 shots per game. Something's not working, so he's going to try changing sticks. Galvins has reached a deal with Easton Synergy to exclusively use their sticks moving forward. He's excited about the new deal and figures things can't get any worse than they already are so might as well try a completely new line of sticks. Easton synergy sticks were popular in the early 2000's and were one of the first all composite sticks. Let's hope Galvins can start scoring soon because frankly this is getting embarrassing.

Q1. Why did you not join Super Coach for S83 (if you did thanks)

Q2. What is your favourite VHL podcast, if you don't listen to them why don't you listen

Q3. Would you rather see a VHL Asia, VHL Africa or a VHL Oceania as the next league and Why?

     1. I would have joined but have no idea what your talking about or that it was available, why didn't you tell me? lol.

    2. My favorite is mubblefubbles because I only listened once and it was good and I dont know any others, sry.

    3. VHL Africa because that's a large continent and would have some interesting teams and lots of exotic animals to use as logos and team names.

    1. How are you liking the new attribute system?

    2. How is your player doing so far in the new system?

    3. If you could move to any city in the world where would it be and why?

  12. Amazingly Girts Galvins has not scored a goal yet this season for Warsaw. The rookie sniper had made a name for himself over the past 2 season in the VHLE and VHLM racking up 75 goals between two leagues, however it's not been so easy in the VHL through his first 11 games. Galvins is trying his best out there but just not getting it done so far. He's not taking a ton of shots either, only 23 through 11 games, so that's a contributing factor as well. Warsaw has struggled a bit as a team before winning two games today so hopefully Girt Galvins can score some goals soon and help the team win more games, otherwise he may have to add to checking so he can at least do something exciting out there! We have to think the Latvian sniper gets a goal soon, but any hopes of rookie of a year are pretty much out the window. It's ok because he's young and on a talented team like Warsaw he's not a go-to player yet, but he hopes to help the team soon with some clutch goals. Stay tuned!

  13. 1. Yes I've been following the pre-season and we're on fire, definitely a sign of things to come, hopefully!

    2. I don't know all the awards but I think Brian Payne and Girts Galvins will be in the hunt for rookie of the year.

    3. I would tell them how easy it is to pick up how to earn tpe and update your player, it's very user friendly.

    4. I'd have to say DC, the one that uses Defense and Skating, those are both important imo.

    5. Edmonton has clinched I think, so I will go with LA and Vancouver as not making it, unfortunately. That said I could see LA sneaking in over Dallas if anyone.

    6. I've watched a ton of movies the past year or so on netflix/amazon, but amazingly cant remember any right now that I really loved, probably need to rent one. However I watched the series 1883 on paramount and it was real good, sad, but good.

    7.  I'd move them to just south Portland and call them the Portland Prairie Dogs.
