Dil reacted to vincentlg2007 in BREAKING NEWS: Calgary forward asks for Trade!!!
LF NEWS CALGARY- It is now official. The saga has officially added a new controversy to an already eventful case. A Wranglers forward has asked the Calgary management group and its General Manager Kris Rice to get traded. Yes, this is right one of Daniel Janser, Landon Wolanin, Leandro Goncalves, Omi Aberg, Sax Justice, Bob Vladovechsenkchushkin, Lorenzo Cobberson, Larry Abass Jr., Darius Marimoto II, Adam Rage, Sam Azjha, Ty Justice, Tristen Gorlim, Tom Creeg or Vincent Laroche-Gagnier has sent a formal trade request. This comes after a sad and brutal playoff exit to the Vancouver Wolves in the first round. Despite winning the victory cup ( rewarded to the team ending the regular season with the most points) the Albertan team fell in 5 games to their british colombian counter part. A player requesting a trade despite being on a team who's alined for success is rare. Is it a veteran in the prime of his career who doesn't believe in Calgary's chances for a cup? Is the Calgary Wranglers team environnement toxic? Yes, there's really a case to ask the question is there a bad atmosphere in the locker room of the legendary canadian team ?

One thing is sure an event like this tend to reveal many other informations in the following days/weeks.

Now the question on everyone lips... Who is this player ? Well the identity of the player is unrevealed as of now even tho there seems to be a stand-out candidate. More on the matter should be revealed next week

Does a baker celebrate when they open the oven door? Does the police officer celebrate when they give a ticket to a driver who failed to follow the rules? Does a teacher celebrate when they are done moaning about how hard their job is? The answer is more than likely not. The same can be said about Prague winning Warsaw. Business as usual for many in Prague. I would be lying if I said that we were anxious or nervous when the series was 3-1 for Warsaw. I would be lying if I said that it was a surprise that Prague won Warsaw. However, I am not lying when I say: you are welcome, Warsaw.

You are welcome, Warsaw, you got to compete against a superior opponent and you did your best. What Warsaw has shown to VHL, and to the whole world is that no matter how much better the opposition is, no matter how high the mountain is in front of you, no matter how unlikely it is that you win, what matters is that you try. You might not always win, you might not win even half of the time, but when you keep on trying - you will get that much closer to the top. Warsaw showed remarkable spirit in this series. They managed to lead the series 3-1 at one point. Did they get carried away? Did they think the series is as good as over? No. Warsaw knew they were touched by the lady luck. Warsaw knew there is virtually no chance anyone can be that lucky for that long. Warsaw staff, players, and fans knew their odds are against them when they were up 3-1. But still, they kept going. They did not stop trying. Game after game, they lost, as everybody expected. Did they stop trying? No. They kept going. Eventually, the series was tied at 3-3. A huge sign of relief was heard coming from the Warsaw camp: "now we have a chance again, it's even". How did game seven end? Prague was better on the scoreboard maybe, but the real winner was Warsaw.

Warsaw showed everybody what it means to compete and to try. I think I speak for everybody in VHL when I say: thank you, Warsaw. Nobody gave you chance before the series, nobody gave you a chance when you were leading 3-1, nobody gave you a chance when the series was tied 3-3, but still, you showed up and tried your best. There is a lot we can all learn from that. Sure, it might not make Warsaw camp feel that much better now, but I reckon this series will be the real reason why we will see Warsaw do well in the upcoming seasons. So many new lessons were learned, Warsaw players got to play against bigger, faster, and just better players. They will train even harder during the upcoming off-season, Warsaw team and the players will be a dangerous group in the future.

In the middle of all this, I don't want to forget Prague. How do you think Prague staff, players, and fans feel right now? We were always going to win. We were the heavy favorites. We are forever known as the team that beat an underdog team. That kind of stigma and the mental burden will be hard to knock off your shoulders. I think the next round will be a real test for Prague. Not because we play another underdog team, but because we have to try and motivate ourselves. That is a lot easier said than done.

Jesse Teno’s rookie season is over and the impact they made on the VHL has been minimal. No breakout performances in their 11 games and no real accolades to speak of. Sure, just being trusted to play in the VHL is an honor in and of itself but Jesse felt like they didn’t get to really shine and prove their worth. But perhaps that is what being a backup goalie for a whole season is. In Saskatoon, Jesse was trusted to carry the Wild through both the regular season and the playoffs. In Cologne, Jesse had a short stint as the backup before taking over the role as starter a few weeks in. This has been Jesse’s quietest season on the ice since they were a freshman in college and the feeling is strange. They know they made an impact with their 7 wins but it doesn’t feel like a big enough one to them. Hopefully the next season will be their chance to really show everyone what they are made of.

Well, that’s that I suppose. Jesse Teno’s rookie season ends in the wildcard round of the playoffs with the London United. Jesse did not get any ice time during the round but as a backup, playoff time is never guaranteed. Jesse’s rookie season ends with 11 games played and a 7-3-1 record, 0.923 save percentage, and 2.43 goals against average.

“Honestly it’s hard seeing the team not make it past the wild card round. I wish I would have had the chance to play in the VHL playoffs but I guess it wasn’t in the cards for me. Rumor has it I’ll be the starter next season so I guess we’ll see if the coaches and admins still think I’m good enough to stay on that track. Hopefully the long off season will give me a chance to keep working on my strength and skills to be ready for next season.”

After a much needed break over the weekend, Jesse returned home to Vermont to begin their training for next season. They have been spotted running through their home town in the mornings before heading to the local hockey rink. “Sometimes there’s a kids league there and I let them take shots at me to practice but it also gives me something new to try. Kids can be a lot more resourceful and sneakier than pro players so sometimes they do get one up on me.”

Jesse has shared that they plan to change up their training in order to be ready for next season and they are hoping to hook up with other VHL players in the area in order to get in some real practice while they are away from London.

But when not training, Jesse can also be found working on The Teno Foundation in the offices of the local rink. So far the foundation has raised about $20,000 to provide equipment and lessons to underprivileged kids in Vermont. As of the holiday weekend the foundation has supplied equipment to an additional 20 families on top of the previously reported 150. “I’m really proud of this foundation and I’m grateful to everyone who has donated not only money but time. Some of our workers who give lessons are doing so as volunteers and without them we wouldn’t be able to impact as many kids as we have.”

Aside from all that, Jesse has also been spending time with their fiancé around Manchester shopping and meeting up with old friends. A lot of their down time seems to be spent at either the Northshire Bookstore or the pinball arcade across the street. And since it is quite snowy up in Vermont, Jesse has also returned to their first sport, skiing. “I haven’t been on the slopes at home in a long time and honestly I forgot just how much I love skiing Bromley. I know it’s not the fanciest or the biggest but it’s home and it's where I learned to ski.” Jesse’s fiancé also joined them on the slopes a few times, though she seems to be just as comfortable sitting in the lodge with a book and a hot chocolate.

    Early Hockey Memories

Molly the Cat’s earliest memories involve hockey. Molly the Cat remembers sitting in the family living room as a small child watching VHL games on a Saturday night. Molly the Cat grew up a Toronto Fan as it was the local team. They had numerous opportunities to attend games in Toronto and always loved to see the European teams visit.

Molly the Cat also remembers visiting the VHL hockey hall of fame as a child and being able to touch the Continental Cup. For days afterwards Molly remembers dreaming of hoisting the Cup as a VHL Champion. That dream has not faded over time.

Molly the Cat Starts Playing Hockey

Molly the Cat started playing hockey at the age of 4 in various minor leagues in the Niagara Region. Molly the Cat loved to play hockey, being out on the ice with teammates. It was quickly identified that Molly the Cat had some talent on the ice and by age 6 their parents were encouraged to get Molly the Cat some extra training. Molly the Cat was enrolled in many hockey training schools between the age of 6 and 10 to help build technical skills. Molly the Cat excelled in each type of training that she took part in. In addition to hockey schools, Molly the Cat also took up figure skating so that they could learn how to use their skate edges properly. Molly the Cat was mocked and ridiculed by many players, but they persevered. Molly the Cat loved to skate and spent as much time as they could doing it.

The extra work that Molly the Cat put in to develop skating skills was quickly noticed by others and they were recruited to one of the region’s travel teams. The added playing time created an increased competitive spark, an increased love of hockey and a drive to be the best. Molly the Cat took every opportunity to work on their skills, skating, shooting, passing and defense. Molly the Cat’s quickly improving skills soon made them one of the best players on their team. Molly the Cat had a successful minor league hockey experience winning many tournaments and being named player of the tournament several times. At age 15 Molly the Cat was selected to the All-Ontario team to play in the U16 Canada Minor Championships. Team Ontario won the tournament, and Molly the Cat was named player of the tournament with 10 goals and 14 assists in the 10 games played.

    Unique Training

Molly the Cat had many training experiences as a child growing up in the hockey community in the Niagara Region of Ontario, however there are a few experiences that Molly the Cat attributes to the success they have experienced in the VHL. The first of these experiences was taking a series of figure skating lessons and skating drills with Barbara Underhill, professional Canadian Figure skater and highly regarded skating coach. In addition to the skating training Molly the Cat received, they also got private lessons from Professional Hockey player Nathan Horton. Nathon Horton spent a couple summers working with Molly the Cat on shooting and passing techniques as well as methods for developing an increased ability to see what was happening on the ice. The Last training experience that Molly the Cat attributes to their success was an opportunity to part in a video coaching program being developed by the Canadian Hockey federation. Molly the Cat had all their university games taped and had one on one sessions with a video coach to help analyze and build alternate strategies for those game situations. These 3 specific training experiences helped Molly the Cat in building the techniques they brought to the VHLM and have been the backbone of Molly the Cat’s current development.

A Draft foregone to Pursue Education

Molly the Cat worked their way through the various stages of minor hockey until they reached what would normally be the draft eligible age. Many expected Molly the Cat to be drafted in the first round of the VHL draft in Season 79. Many VHL teams reached out looking to gage Molly the Cat’s interest in joining their team. It was a shock to everyone when Molly the Cat announced that they were removing themselves from the draft to pursue a university degree first. It was a difficult decision, but Molly the Cat decided that they would pursue a university education, taking a business degree focusing on marketing instead of pursuing a professional hockey career. It was not that Molly the Cat was giving up on a Professional Hockey Career in the VHL, but they felt they needed to secure their long-term academic success first. Molly the Cat received a scholarship for both academic achievement and for athletic achievement in hockey. Molly the Cat played 4 years of hockey in university, during which time they set both the single season record for points and the total university career points record.

Finishing their university hockey career and graduating with their business degree with honors, Molly the Cat unfortunately missed the VHL draft for Season 83 and as such was expecting to sit for the season. Luckily for Molly the Cat the VHLM San Diego Marlins reached out and signed Molly the Cat as a free agent. And that is how Molly the Cat’s VHL career started
