  1. The Aces have been on fire since the trade deadline and they've strung together a 6 game winning streak including big wins over the Hounds and Wild. This has fianlly lifted them over the Rush to take first place in the Western conference and also moving them to 2nd place overall by overtaking the Hounds as well by a single point. Kaladin Kvothe finally got off of the donut that he's been sitting on for the first 6 games, it turns out the the magic number seven made it happen as Kvothe notched his first point via an assist in the Aces 2-1 shootout win over the Bulls. Kvothe collected a rebound behind the net and fed the puck back to MAtt Thunder who in turn slipped the puck through to Nero Endrizzi who slapped the puck to the back of the net for his 2nd goal of the season. Speaking to our reporter after the game we asked Kvothe how it felt to get his first point: "Well it's always nice to get that first point on the board, it's been nagging me over the past few games of course but I hope it's the first of many that I can contribute to this great hocker franchise and we can keep this momentum for the rest of the seasons and bring it into the playoffs. Now just to get my first goal!" A very honest statement from this young player and we hope to see him flourish over the next few seasons as he develops his game and earns more time on the ice. Of course with the dispersal draft after this season we'll have to see if the Aces can manage to retain Kvothe's services or if we'll see him in a different jersey come nest season.
  2. If there are still players available the draft will keep going, so everyone will have the chance to get drafted.
  3. Doesn't that mean you not playing offence either ? Just score more.
  4. As much as it definitely is a big class, a fair few are going to be in the S76 class instead after they get fixed.
  5. I guess that'll do smh. Was going to go win 10 rings in a row by joining the champions.
  6. Can I get my player moved to the S46 class please, thought the trade deadline rollover had already happened. @Admin
  7. Drafted 61st Finished 20th in TPE Nor bad but Kvothe is gonna be much better.
  8. Playoff teams only need apply. Shits team you can get your chance in the dispersal draft.
  9. 1. What do you think has been the primary reason behind the lack of a point? Bad luck? Positioning? Lack of aggressiveness? 2. Who has been the most welcoming player on the team? 3. What's been the biggest difference between the VHLM and your youth career? 4. What areas of your game are you looking to develop this season? 5. The Lynx have lost the most OT games in the league, do you think the team is lacking the mental fortitude to secure those clutch games? 6. What would be a good personal stat line for you at the end of the season?
  10. The much touted UK prospect Kaladin Kvothe announced early this morning that he has finally received the news that his VISA application was successful and that he is now eligible to play in the VHLM. The London-born forward has been qaiting patiently to start his hockey career in the US but various issues have delayed him, however now he's available there's no doubt he'll be one of the tor targets for any competing teams to round out their roster for the final half of the season. He's proven to be a sharpshooter who can find the back of the net from the tightest angles but will largely need to develop a more rounded game if he wants to produce on the highest level. Nethertheless the raw prospect has a huge depth of untapped potential and his work ethic is something that is brought up constantly by his coaches and teammates. When asked on Twitter about his potential destination from this trade deadline onwards he replied thus: I'm sure we'll see the free agency situation work itself out in the next few days, all eyes in the UK youth hockey scene will be on Kvothe's twitter as his fans and critics are eager to see where the latest prospect from the Isle ends up.
  11. Ask some questions for the British youngster who has just recently acquired his VISA allowing him to move to the United States and play in the VHLM.
  12. Player Information Username: DangerGolding Player Name: Kaladin Kvothe Recruited From: SisterLeague Age: 21 Position: LW Height: 71 in. Weight: 215 lbs. Birthplace: United Kingdom Player Page @VHLM GM
  13. Does sound like a good idea, the minor league's primary goal is to retain new members anyway rather than see who's the best GM, and from my experience new members love drafts a lot.
  14. 1. Toronto recently acquired Oh Sens from Helsinki for a third and two fourth round draft picks. What do you think of the deal? / (For osens): How are you enjoying your time on Toronto? I think it's a pretty good deal, generally when trading draft picks you want to get a player that approximately as good as the pick with be, of course the player comes with the bonus of being a known quantity, a very underrated aspect. He was drafted 19th anyway so we got a good deal and he's a talented young player that really looks like he could be a staple for Toronto's future. 2. Chad Magnum -- seems like we mention him a lot here -- has been quietly leading the Legion for seasons, so it shouldn't be a surprise that he's atop our scouring chart once again. Do you think he has another opportunity to win the 'best two-way forward' award again? Oh absolutely, when you look at what he's doing on the ice it's incredible, leading the attack while also chiming in with more than his fair share of hits and blocked shots, there's no doubt that his name should be at the forefront of the conversation come the end of the season. 3. Jaxx Hextall seems to be struggling, what do you think can calm his nerves for the upcoming games? / (For Rookie) How do you keep yourself motivated during times where you've been frustrated with your performance? It's hard to say really, the goalies in the league have such a hard job and the pressure they face is immense. I don't think I could really give him any advice that he doesn't already know, other than to tell him that we trust him as our final player and we appreciate everything he does for the team. 4. Toronto's current record is 21-19-3, good for 45 points in the NA Conference, so do you think we can maintain a playoff spot now? Chicago, Calgary, New York and Toronto are all competing for the fourth and fifth spots at the moment, although Chicago is overperforming similarly to how S72 TOR did. I definitely think we can maintain or improve upon where we are now, a poor start set us back and some shaky close games over the past few weeks have dropped us some points but I don't think we've been outplayed in any of them particularly. 5. Once more Toronto has played the least amount of games compared to... literally any other VHL team. When do you think we'll catch up, if we do at all during the season? I guess that's down to the people at the league office, we'll end up with the same games at the end of the season at that's all the matters, I personally like it as we know our ability to catch those teams with more games played is in our hands. 6. John Merrick is trailing the Warsaw duo for top rookie (which is unfortunate because they're an expansion team and are more likely to give points to rookies). Do you think he can overcome them and start leading the rookie race? / (For Steve) Merrick has three games in hand over the other top rookies, do you think you can climb ahead of them? Yeah i'd say he can catch them, he's only 5 points behind with 3 games in hard, that's a trivial task for John. I'd bet my house on him finishing the season at the top of that Rookie points list.
  15. As a member that came into the VHL via the SBA I thought I'd make a dream team with a few of the members that I interact with the most from the SBA and see how our dream team would look here. Will their aptitude (or lack thereof) in fake basketball translate across to the world of fake hockey? Are they truly just a one sport member? Are they thriving in a sim league that hasn't been a two team duopoly for the past decade of seasons? @Goliathus - Tee Pee E II First off one of the members I've talked to the most over the past few seasons, from handing him the reigns of the SBDL team I founded to using him as my DC bitch when I was stranded without sim access. Goli has become one of the prominent members in the SBA community. He's made a goalie here and seems to be chugging along quite nicely in tpe, though I suspect if his current trajectory continues he won't see quite the success he's seen in fake basketball but a consistent 8 a week player can always find a home in the VHL. Playing for Yukon this season he's contributed 12 assists but has failed to find the net so far this season, albeit with only 5 shots it's not a surprise to see a donut in that stat. A +5 in his P/M is a good sign that he's contributing to winning hockey though and if his GM can get him to maybe start claiming a couple extra per week he could become a starter. @DollarAndADream - Stone Wolski One of the player on the list for which the VHL is generally their main lead, DaaD has a pedigree behind him. Leph Twinger was a two time continental cup winner and Stone Wolski is developing into one of the premier shot stoppers on the ice today. Likewise his player in the SBA is a top guard in the league now and has brought his A game to the playoffs on multiple occasions for my team. Notably on the list too is that I actually have already player with DaaD on DCD for a few seasons and though we didn't quite achieve the success we wanted I'd be happy to reunite some time in the future with my recreate. @Hooperorama - Ajay Krishna An honourable mention at the G spot, though he doesn't have the record or notoriety in the VHL that DaaD has, nethertheless he's one of the top first-gens in his class. Drafted 17th he's already moved up a few spots in the TPE charts and though young he's maintained a .900 save percentage this season for the Warsaw Predators, a mark that shows promise for the rookie goaltender. @Aye my name jeff - Jordan Tate Where would a sim league be without the antics of Zeke, he burst onto the SBA scene about a year and a half ago and was one of the first players to come under my wing in my first Head Coaching gig at West Virginia, also arguable became the first true star of the franchise and though his first foray into the VHL with Killy Foilen wasn't the explosive entrance many would have expected from the volatile Zeke that we know I feel like his second run at the league will be more successful, much like I hope mine will be. There's never a dull moment with Zeke in a locker room and it would be fun to link up with him one more time. @okochastar - Julian Nousiainen Another big SBA name that I have never managed to play with, with repeated attempts to trade for him getting shot down by his various GMs. Unlike some of the other entries that came from the SBA Oko has already carved out a decent career with his first appearance in the VHL with Guillaume Fontenette, reaching the quadruple digits in TPE with the French defenseman while playing out his whole 6 year career in Helsinki. Certainly a steal for the 30th overall pick. No doubt one of the hottest prospects due to the unrivalled earning potential of getting an auto 12 per week from being the SBA's resident simmer it's a wonder how he even dropped to the 9th pick in the 73 draft with his recreate center. He's putting together a very solid rookie season too with 15 goals and 21 assists for a London United team going through the growing pains of a new franchise. Undoubtedly he would be one of the better fits for my shoot-first winger and there's definitely the appeal of joining London, my hometown team in real life.
  16. The British VHLM prospect that's expected to enter the league at the trade deadline was recently seen at an SBA pre-season game talking with Ajay Krishna @Hooperorama,formerly of the Ottowa Lynx. It's uncertain what they were talking about but speculations is rife on hockey twitter over where the talented forward could be landing when he makes his entry into the VHLM. There hasn't been any leaks from Kvothe's camp yet over any offers received but there is a decent amount of time left before the trade deadline, there also hasn't been much rumblings from any of the teams so far. Admittedly there is a fair amount of scepticism when it comes to players out of the UK due to a lack of pedigree compared to many other hockey powerhouses like Canada, US or the Scandinavian block. Krishna was not the only player in attendance there though as pics of an afterparty post-game saw Kvothe in a booth sitting with Lucifer Olivier Leveque @InstantRockstar who's has strong ties to the San Diego Marlins, an interesting fact as the Marlins was also the landing spot where Kvothe's mentor Raleigh Ritchie spent the majority of his VHLM career, and still is one of the highest point scorers in the teams history. Of course teams will only be able to retain Kvothe for half a season before he is lost to the dispersal draft but he could definitely add some depth to a team that is challenging for a title and needs an additional spark plug off of the bench
  17. While the Legion took Monday night's game in Davos by a score of 3 goals to 2, the biggest story of the night was the team brawls that soured the game early on in the first quarter. The game started off as usual, with the teams trading shots. SS Hornet had the best chance to put the hosts ahead early on with two chances but could only manage a miss and a weak shot that was comfortable saved by the Legion's backup goaltender. Then just past the 4th minute mark pandemonium erupted. Toronto's Merrick won a face off against SS Hornet but as he turned away to shoot Roque Davis hit him with a brutal slash on the back of the rookie's legs. The Legion's Joseph Gainer came it to back up his teammate and hit Hornet with a hard shove to the back at that was enough of a spark to set off the rest of the teams. Jared Willis tangles up with Merrick for a fight, while Hornet came back up swinging at Gainer. The refs had their hands full as Soren Jensen and Raleigh Ritchie also joined in on the festivities, also dropping gloves to join in the melee. Though the fights were broken up fairly quickly with nobody on either side managing to get an upper hand and win the fight. The lineups were thrown into disarray as Toronto suffered penalties to Merrick, Gainer and Ritchie as well as minor penalties to Daldo and Gutzwiler. Davos in turn received penalties to Hornet, Soren Jensen and Jared Willis with minors on Roque Davis and Fernando Jokinen. Finally after the hiatus the game restarted and just 15 seconds last Chad Magnum took the lead for the Legion with a blistering shot into the top of the net after winning the puck off of Owen Nolan at the faceoff. The game had took on a nasty atmosphere now with both teams looking much more aggressive and the physical play was taken up a notch. This pressure culminated in Merrick, already fuming from his perceived lack of calls from the referee, took offence at a hard hit from Jared Willis and Merrick came in for round 2. This time though the fight was an isolated incident and the two fought to another unsatisfying draw. Davos clearly came out on top though at Merrick was ejected from the game for instigating the fight. Thankfully for the fans that love to watch hockey actually being played the game managed to settle down after the first period, Soren Jensen leveled the scores halfway through the 2nd before Chad Magnum controlled his own rebound and slotted the puck home under Rayz Funk to regain the Legions 1 goal lead. At the death of the period Daldo extended the lead to 3-1, make suring the Legions 20-12 shot count in the period had a good result. Jared Willis put the game back within reach with 6 minutes to play but the home team couldn't find the much need final breakthrough to equalise as they were held to a measly 7 shots in the final section of game. This win takes Toronto firmly into the playoff picture, a sight for sore Toronto eyes after their torrid start to the season. they've won 9 of their last 10 and are currently on a 8 game winning streak, including most notably, two clutch away wins at Riga and also a away win at Moscow. This team has certainly got it's confidence back, perhaps bolstered by the trade for Oh Sens who has shown the potential to be a key asset for this team.
  18. Was that two team brawls in the 1st period lmao.
