  3. I’ll be looking for a full write up when I start playing for DC next season @Renomitsu. Mr 61st is coming up

  5. The life of a late round draft pick is a different story to what usually hits the headlines. For every Cinnamon Block, Condor Adrienne and Lincoln Tate along with other recreates and star first gens that earn themselves a 1st round pick spot, there are 40+ players selected outside this group. Now i don't know the exact stats but I'd imagine the majority of these players are either low earning players, people who take gaps in their career or straight up inactives. However every so often you get a player who for whatever reason, is behind, is low on tpe but something changes and they have a chance to revitalise their career. This is a long and hard road, these players are 300+ tpe behind the top players in their class already and they've never even seen a VHL rink yet but this won't stop them. They want to succeed, they don't want to take the easy road and make a new person, the challenge and drive is what defines these players even if they likely won't be a Hall of Fame player or perhaps even a starter on a VHL team. The guys are part of what makes the large machine of the VHL such a great place with the depth of members in their own situations and ideals. Players like Bud Knight @Dilly Dilly, drafted 53rd overall who is one of the best players on the Philadelphia Reapers this season with a great production of 44 goals and 45 assists, or Block Buster @Banana2311 drafted 46th overall who's become a great second line goaltender for the Dc Dragons with .906 save percentage and a very solid 2.86 GAA this season albeit only playing 20 games. Last by not least Jacob Perry @Liberty_Cabbage who was drafted 38th overall, he's shot past player all around him and is currently enjoying a productive season with the Prague Phantoms as he's 4th in the team in shots blocked with limited minutes. Now these players are by no means the only ones to produce above their estimated value, this goes goes to all the people who are working hard to make their VHL dream a reality, no matter their draft pick or TPE 370 words. 7. I started my VHL journey with Ritchie a while back and enjoyed having that recruitment experience that I hadn't experienced in a while and I had good fun doing a twitter thread going through option so thanks to the VHLM GMs that made the initial first time experience something enjoyable, it really makes the league feel alive when you get message from all the GMs with their excellent pitches. However shortly into my first season at Minnesota I lost interest, not really through fault of the GM but more stuff happening irl and then going away on holiday for a few weeks killed my activity completely. Fast forward 4-5 weeks I get a discord message from Diamond_ace asking if I was going to be an active, I initially thought no but when an invite to the DC Dragons discord came in from @Enorama I thought, hell why not give it a go, even with just welfare I can make a decent comeback. Perhaps "unsung" isn't the right word for a GM who I'm sure many people have been helped by but I think it still fits the bill. Eno helped me get reacquainted with the VHL and it's PT system, posted a load of helpful stuff along with Press conference questions and some build help. Even just taking the time to send out a discord message to a guy who others might write off as an inactive says a lot to me about him as a GM and also taking the time to help someone who as a 2nd year player at 44 tpe stood a good chance of never seeing the ice for his team. I gotta say it was funny seeing the replay of the live-stream where you realised I actually joined the discord. Another two people I'd like to thank are the GM and AGM at San Diego @InstantRockstar and @MexicanCow who were key in building my interest for the league and making it easy for me to stay engaged. They constantly keep the LR alive with sim results and pointing out good games by the players along with being super transparent with plans for the team and potential changes. They recognise that the sim leagues should be fun, letting us make some suggestions for the lines etc. They were supportive of letting myself and other members build the kind of players they wanted to be while giving sound advice. They got as excited as the players when we went on streaks and looked at the positives when we got blown out. I guess this is a thank you to the people that took a chance, even if it was a low-risk one on a member who was likely to not amount to much and giving me the motivation and tools to stay active in a second league, and especially answer questions about hockey stats which I still sometimes have no idea about. My time as a Marlin will probably be coming to an end this season and though I might not have scored as many goals as I intended to every game and sim has been a positive moment for the start of my VHL career.
  8. I could be doing better I feel, My shooting has not been up to par this year and it feels like I've taken a step back, or at least not as far forward as I hoped in the off-season, I'm scoring at a worse rate than I did last season which is a disappointing. The team is doing great though when you consider the personnel that we lost through trades, I don't think anyone expected us to be 5th in the standings this late in the season. Credit has got to go to both Roadkill Steve @stevo who's put on a MVP level season for us and the young blood who have been working hard to improve every training session. I think it's probably got to be Kris Rice @Krice13, putting up the numbers that he's getting is so hard especially when he's not on a team as stacked as Sask are, they hounds really got a steal getting him with a 55th pick in the dispersal draft. Well it's gotta be Roadkill Steve, the experience and poise that he brings to the team is unrivalled and he fives his all every night on the ice to get us more wins and success. He's a real inspiration to everyone at the club. Killy Foilen @Aye my name jeff is a coward who couldn't handle the pressure of having to fill bigger boots than his when Graves and co left Las Vegas so he had to go cower under the coattails of better players again in Saskatoon so they could carry him to wins. ya zeke It's gotta be Vancouver as the obvious choice, top of the league and on a 7 game win streak, there's no doubt they're the favourite from NA. In a more controversial pick I'm going to go with Moscow, they've showed a lot of grit and determination and they've had 11 OTL which shows that they aren't a team to give up easily and if the puck bounced a bit differently they could very well be much higher up the standings than they are right now. Chicago! It's a big market and the name would flow off the tongue really well. not sure the logo would work too well though. I think it's a nice idea, it gets everyone on the site for a bit each day which can only be a good thing. Going back over to England to see the family, maybe go catch up with my old teammates for a beer or two, they've be harassing me about why I haven't been called up by the Dragons yet. A playoff series win My first sim league PT was a sloppily edited 2k17 video to hype up my SBA player to GMs and gorlab gave me a hand by tagging all of them. So thanks for that gorlab.
  9. Nice job, love seeing stats stuff like this. I remember doing SBA ELO rankings for a few seasons and they were so time consuming.
