  1. Looking much better than my last player going 61st
  2. I'll join, also trash. Think my lichess ELO is about 900 but i haven't played enough for it to settle.
  3. 1. After an unbelievable stretch this week, what do The Marlins need to do to maintain this momentum? We need to stay focused and not get complacent, we all know how vital it is to get the highest seed that you can get in the playoffs so every game matter. We've fallen a little bit behind the top 2 and need to tighten that gap. 2. We’re being heavily carried on even strength by our top guys, what do you think the disconnect is between some of our depth players and how would you go about shifting the chemistry of the team? I'm not sure what the solution is but everyone on the team is focused on winning first and stats next. There no ego on this team that is bigger than the drive for team success. The depth players are going to keep on grinding and getting better and we'll be a much stronger team come playoff time. 3. At 16-7-2 to end the week, London is the early season story. Do you believe in this London United team as a true top contender or are they just overplaying expectations right now? Explain. Well I'm a London lad through and through so of course I'm fully supporting the United, I think they're overplaying expectations but that's no reason that they can't hold this momentum and keep it going to make this a really strong season. 4. How was your Thanksgiving (Americans)? If you aren’t American, how was your week? Been a quiet week really, preparing for a month long trip to Switzerland to see my girlfriend. Going to have to drive there though so it's going to be a fun but pretty tiring trip. 5. King is purchasing catering for practice if we beat Philly and Mexico City this week. What entrée would you like on the menu? Some crispy duck pancakes would be fabulous, with some spring onion, cucumber and sauce. 6. In a non-covid world, how would you feel about the Winter Classic becoming the kickoff to the All-Star weekend? Like the Winter Classic would be the last game before the All-Star break instead of first day of the New Year. I don't really follow irl hockey so I'm afraid I haven't really got an opinion on this at all. QUESTIONEE SECTION What's your favourite video game of all time? And what's your favourite author? When you need a kick to get you going when doing exercise what song do you listen to?
  4. Review: Great format, all the information is clear to see and understand and making sure you covered every team is always a good sign for putting in the effort. Perhaps a picture or two could shake up the layout a bit but overall it's presented very well. Taking the additional time to tag each player that's mentioned is also a nice touch so people can see that their players efforts are getting recognised. 9.5/10
  5. Review: A really great rundown of the entire VHLM and how teams have performed so far, good job at showing how each team is finding success and pointing out the key players that have been performing well in the early season. Use of the small banners is nice too. The added details of the teams rank last week and the change since then makes it look very professional as well. 10/10
  6. I created at the trade deadline whereas you created at the start of the season I assume. Also you only earning 6 per week you bum
  7. 1. We're going into week two of the season with a pretty average record and some areas to work on. What is your thoughts on week one of the VHLM Season and what are you looking to improve on going forward? I think we just need some time to gel as a team, I'm looking to improve my defense and skating so I can get a bit more open to try and get more shooting opportunities as I've only managed to take 7 shots so far this season.2. At this point of the season, are we above, below, or meeting your early expectations for this season? Explain. A bit below I have to say, it's early days but a .500 record isn't where we're really aiming to be at. I'm not worried though, after we get a bit more time to mesh together we'll be a lot better.3. We have one of the worst PKs in the league, what would be your strategy to turn around our shorthanded unit? Play me in it I guess?4. It's American Thanksgiving on Thursday, what are you most thankful for in the VHL? I'm thankful for the activity of the GMs in both the major and minor leagues, everyone I've been in contact with has been helpful to me.5. What is your favorite holiday food? Why? Probably a nice mince pie, getting some fancy ones from like Waitrose or M&S was a real treat in our house in the holiday season. 6. If you could invite only one member of the team to your next holiday dinner, who would it be? Maybe Red Lite so I can fatten him up and I'll steal some more ice time off him.
  8. The Marlins came into the season with high hopes after securing a wealth of talent through the dispersal draft, most notably the top 2 pick in Cowboy Prout and Scott Kaberle. This huge roster turnover though has resulted in the Marlins coaching staff have to adjust to their new personnel available which can often be a difficult task that takes a few weeks to complete. The chemistry is also on the low end between players, though of course this is only on-ice chemistry which is sure to improve as the team gets more game time to gel. Off ice the locker room is still in high spirits as they understand this slow start is just the product of the active off-season. Though this patience hasn't been shared by a fair amount of the fans, the Marlins twitter is arife with couch coaches giving the front office an outpouring of questionable advice, telling them play Red Lite the whole game, give Kvothe every shot available or to bench their star defensemen Odinsson. It's safe to say that these tactics will probably not be given much attention by the staff as they look for a way to get the Marlins swimming back upstream. A team that has seemingly found the Marlins number is the Aces as they've bested San Diego twice already, with a single OT loss. Marlins do have a chance to even up the series in their next game at home and they be hoping to move their record a lot higher than the 5-5 mark they sit an right now.

  10. Funnily enough in this league im doing I'm racing for Alpha Tauri too.
  11. I'm kind of a new fan, wanted to get back into the game mostly but started to kind of follow irl f1 a bit. Don't think i've got a favourite yet but rooting for Lando and Russell mostly at the moment.
  12. Chilling at work with sweet fuck all to do apart from doing my sba and vhl tasks for the week. Got an f1 2020 league race tonight im looking forward to.
  13. Can't tag members anymore, just tag everyone who's online!! wassup @OrbitingDeath @BladeMaiden @MMFLEX @jRuutu @rory @Matt thunder @Kelsier @Blazzer @IamMOOSE @gorlab @Big Bob @Hooperorama @Martin Bradac @Matmenzinger and @gregreg
  14. Reveiw: I always like an interview style media spot as it lends itself to expressing league stuff from the players point of view, this is an example of it done really well, using the questions to give in characters answers to topics and making it much more interesting that just writing from the point of view of a member.Formatting is perfect too, bolding the questions and using italics for the answers makes it easy to read. The perspective on the different American cities from a foreigners perspective is a nice touch too. Overall: 9.5/10 A picture would be the cherry on top of a interesting media spot.
  15. Review: A nice little article that gives a brief account of how the Seattle roster is looking this season while pointing out a couple of key players. Perhaps a bit more detail on how the depth is build would be nice. The short overviews of each game are entertaining and to the point by singling out a few factors that contributed to the win in each game Overall: 8/10 A nice short article covering the roster and recent games, some more info on the roster would be a welcome touch though.
  16. Kaladin Kvothe RW / / 5'11" // 215 lbs United Kingdom Whilst not coming from a nation that's known as a hockey powerhouse, or much of a hockey country at all Kvothe is the first off a new generation of British players that we might see grow in number and the inclusion of the London United into the ranks of the VHL have spurred a spike in popularity amongst both Londoners and Brits outside the capital. Kvothe signing with the Aces just after the trade deadline last season and though he was limited in his role, he contributed to the Aces run to the semi-finals of the Cup. His most notable performance was in the Aces Game 3 win over Mexico City when he notched 2 goals on the night to aid Vegas on their route to a 4-1 series victory. Strengths Shooting It doesn't take a trained eye to see that Kvothe's finishing is by far his most valuable asset, when it comes to shooting the puck there's not many in the minors that are better at it than the British winger, he's adept at hitting powerful shots from distance and also finding tight gaps past goaltenders at close range, though if there's sufficient pressure on his by the defense his relatively weak puck handling can let him down. Skating While it's certainly true that Kvothe's skating doesn't match his shooting, it's by no mean a weakness in his game, Kvothe has proven he's got the ability to accelerate well to capitalise on fast break opportunities and matches that straight line speed with a agility that is pretty good for someone with his bulk. He can occasionally get caught out when tracking back for defense and players with a good change of pace can sometimes leave Kaladin scrambling to keep up but overall this is a part of his game that's he's been developing well. Defense Many pundits may focus on Kvothe's sharp shooting prowess but that doesn't mean that the wing is solely a one way player, Kvothe's ability to track back and disrupt the opposition has gotten better in recent weeks and he's publicly stated that it's been a main focus of his training over the summer break. Strengths Passing In the few games that we've seen Kvothe appear in, it has been clear that having Kvothe finish off a move is the most beneficial way to run an offense with him on the ice as he struggles to effectively distribute the puck to open teammates, often being unable to pick out the correct pass and giving up possession with some wayward passes. This might be something that the Marlins will have to deal with though as it doesn't seem to be a focus for the young Brit at this point in his career. Strength While a fairly stocky player Kvothe has yet to work out how best to utilise this in a way that can benefit himself in discovering more scoring opportunities. If he can start to work on how to be more physical on both ends of the rink it will massively improve his production and his overall game. Faceoff A weaKness that can potentially be exploited by opponents is Kvothe's weak skills at securing faceoffs and this was on full display in last season's playoffs as he won a paltry 35 of his 100 faceoffs. This may be something to keep an eye on as he develops as something that will need to be improved upon at some point. Overall Kvothe is one of the brightest talents in the S76 draft and currently is projected to be a top 10 pick, he'd be an excellent pick up for any team looking for a forward that can be relied upon to take big shots. There will be more than a few scouts keeping an eye on San Diego this season due to the wealth of talent on the roster and there's no doubt that eyes will be on the sharpshooting Brit and his development. So far he's yet to miss any training hours which is often a strong sign of a good VHL career and is an active presence in the locker room. Whether he can take advantage of the minutes he's getting on a deep Marlins roster will be a highlight of this VHLM season for Marlins and minor league fans alike.
  17. Well first off I want to try my best to break on up the line, Bossman has said he'll probably play me in at the 3rd line which i can understand, he hasn't seen much of my play yet and I'm still pretty fresh. I think that I can prove myself good enough this season to move up to the 2nd line atleast and maybe even challenge for the 1st line too. Some may call that ambitious but I say why bother playing the game if you aren't trying to be the best. So yeah I'd say I use my teammates as targets and motivation, Red Lite has been putting in mad hours in the gym and I'm not gonna fall behind him that easily. Statistically I want to be scoring at least 30 goals this season, it would be a good benchmark to meet and show that I mean business, after all I got to make all the teams that passed on me in the dispersal draft regret it. First up we've gotta beat the Aces and make their GM regret not trading into the draft to take me back. Yeah I'll call him out, hey @Spartan! You fucked up. Errr what else, oh yeah, I've got a few players with targets on their back, some guys that got taken before me in the draft that no way in hell am I going to do worse than, the defensemen I can understand y'know, some teams needed people at the back more and I know there was a lot of forwards on the board but some of the picks are straight disrespectful mate. Magnus Verlander @Jbeezy76 for example, I know he had good playoff, won a ring, all that but if I got the same minutes he did you best bet I'd have won the Aces a chip instead. Liam Fischl @linsangeles too, guys gets a couple luckyl game winners and people think he's amazing but give me a whole season and I'd have banged in more than a measly 14 goals. I can't think of anymore right now but you best bet that Kvothe is gonna be the name on everyone's lips in a couple weeks.
  18. 1. The VHLM Regular Season begins this week, how excited are you to get back on the ice following this 140-year long off season? Very excited to play in a new city and get back onto the ice. I've been working hard over the summer so I'm looking forward to see my hard work pay off. 2. Some big changes to the VHLM and the league as a whole this season, how do you feel about the changes to the inactivity policy and the VHLM Juniors? I like the focus on active player retention rather than inactives, I get that playing those 250 IAs is a tempting prospect for many a GM but it's against the spirit of the league and the commissioners being proactive in changing stuff is a good sign for the health of the league. The VHLM Juniors is a good idea so it'll be interesting to see how it goes. 3. Who on the team aside from yourself are you most interested in seeing their development on the ice this season? Probably Red Lite , he comes from a player agency with a reputation for finding diamonds in the rough so I think he and I will find a lot of success here in San Diego. 4. IR is covering the bill for catering for our first home game of the season , what do you want included? Get me some roast duck and pancakes, I swear I could demolish a whole duck sometimes, it's my go to whenever I get a chinese, that and some chicken fried rice. 5. To get into the team spirit of the city, tell me one fact about San Diego? San Diego hold the record for the longest playoff drought in SBA at 13 seasons with a drought that is still going, their last appearance was in season 36 6. Who wins the Continental Cup in the VHL this season? I'll go with my hometown (home country) team in London, I believe they could get it done against the odds.
  19. Strong 6-0 from Toronto, Hextall still a straight G
  20. 1. With the craziness of the draft now behind us, what did you take away from the VHL & VHLM drafts? How were they similar? How were they different? 2. While we’ll always expect the cliché answers on how satisfied you are with where you ended up, instead, are you at all surprised with where you went or how high/low you were selected? What do you personally think went into the decision to draft you where you were taken? 3. Focusing now on this upcoming season, what are your expectations as a player statistically for season 75? I'd like to start scoring more, I think a season line of 25 goals and 30 assists would be a good mark to aim for while I develop. 4. How can you improve your player this season, and what will you be focusing on skill-wise first? I'll be working on my puck handling and defense to try and become a more dangerous player on both ends of the ice. I'm primarily an offensive player but as we all know defense breeds offense. 5. As San Diego looks to makes the player/user experience better every season, I will be taking a focus on rebuilding the forum club room, including some forum exclusive stuff. What types of things would you like to see on the club forum lockeroom? I'm a big believer in discord being better for maintaining a community and using the club forum lockerroom for stuff that's more permanent like records and awards though the portal handles all of that. Maybe some player of the week awards or something. 6. Let’s give a big congratulations to Cowboy Prout, our team Captain for the Marlins in season 75! Any words for our new lockeroom general? I'll be relying on you to post press conferences or whatever a team captain does. Stock up on hype gifs at least.
