I don't really see the benefit of using the farm league system rather than just expanding the VHLM with another team or two.

bumpy bumpy after VHLM draft Kvothe went pick 49 to the San Diego Marlins

In the much lauded S75 VHLM Dispersal Draft former Las Vegas Ace forward Kaladin Kvothe was taken in the 5th round with the 49th pick by the San Diego Marlins. Though his rookie half-season with the Aces didn't give Kvothe much room to strut his stuff in the regular season he did provide a bit of a spark from the 4th line in the playoffs with 2 goals and a trio of assists in the Aces run. In such a deep draft there are many players that can end up slipping under the radar or falling for one reason or another. In this particular draft due to the wealth of talent at the forward spots, the draft was frontloaded with team selecting the best of the relatively few defensemen that they could get their hands on. Some tentativeness on the part of team selecting Kvothe could also be due to the lack of confidence in players coming out of the UK, with few players from the diminutive isles being able to make the transition to the American game. We caught up with Kvothe at draft night to get his reaction on his selection. "Well obviously I thought that I would be seeing my name called a lot earlier but it's a testament to the growth of the league and the excellent work that the people in charge have put it to draw in players from all over the world. I haven't covered myself in glory this past season, taking a while to adjust and with limited minutes on a deep Vegas team. I'm not sad about where I've ended up though, the Marlins are an excellent team and they've brought it a whole host of talent this draft with very savvy picks. I'll also relish the chance to follow in the footsteps of my mentor Raleigh Ritchie who enjoyed some of his best years here, you better bet that there's a target on his point totals already.

"Yeah of course it's tough going out of the playoffs, any self respecting player would be crushed no matter how it happens, but I'm trying to focus on the positives right now. The teams showed unparalleled drive and grit to dig ourselves out of a 3-0 deficit and force a game 7. We can hold our head ups high even if that game 7 didn't go out way in the end, the result is key of course but the journey and experience gained last longer than one season. They guys heading up the VHL will have boosted their stock and have that crucial playoff experience. Personally I'm disappointed I couldn't contribute as much as I wanted to, I had ample opportunity to score and make difference but I couldn't get it done, chalk it up to a lack of experience. I can promise that it won't happen again. In regard to the future, well I guess we'll see. Lots of teams out there with a lot of picks, I'd like to think that I'm a solid lock for a top 7 or so pick in the dispersal draft even being younger than a lot of guy available on the board. I've showed that I've got the drive to improve as much as anyone else out there and teams should recognise that. A return to Vegas would be nice so I'd be lying if my fingers weren't crossed a little bit for that. Getting on a good team to compete next year is a key goal and I want to show my potential to all the VHL teams keeping an eye on me for the 76 draft. Onwards and upwards I say.

I bring a strong offensive game off the bench, I can come in unload some shots to stretch the defense, put in full energy and then hand the game back over to the first line. Probably my puck handling, im working on it so when I get the off-season to get some more focused work in I hope I'll be a lot better after. I don't really watch the NHL so I couldn't say. Whoever just shots the puck a lot I guess. It's been really good even though I didn't get a great run at my last player, all @Enorama was really good and helping me keep going on my first player even though I started off bad and @Peace gave Ritchie a great last season so that was a lot of fun. I think my game is more based around agility rather than more traditional physical play. I can tussle with a defenseman when needed but I wouldn't say it's a focus of my style. I'm currently playing on the Aces, we've had a really good season and just missed out on a finals appearance after coming back from 3-0 down to force a game 7, unfortunately our luck ran out and we couldn't bring it well enough in the final game. I'm looking forward to seeing where I end up in the dispersal draft, I'm expecting to go in the top 7 at least having max earned every week so far. Going back to the Aces would be ideal but I don't know if they've got the picks to make that happen.

Can i check if this has been done yet? Just want to make sure before the 75 draft happens?

Virgin Bears vs the Chad Legion

The story of the VHL playoffs last night was on the 2-3 matchup between the reigning champion Seattle Bears and the upstart Toronto Legion. In their first game of the series it was a fairly one-sided affair, three goals for Seattle in the first period with Toronto only able to return 1 goal back, putting them in a deficit that they couldn't dig their way out of with the game finishing 5-2 in favour of the Bears fueled by Kris Rice's excellent game. In the next game though it was the Legions turn to takeover the game in a single period, though this time the scoring outburst had to wait until the second period as the first finished scoreless. Sundqvist put the Bears ahead 2 minutes into the 2nd period but this appeared to fire up the Legion. Raleigh Ritchie leveled the scores 4 minutes later before Chad Magnum fired Toronto ahead with a power play goal with 4 minutes left on the clock. Ritchie got his second goal of the game 2 minutes later to put the Legion up 3-1. The Bears weren't about to be turned into a rug that easily though, Hogan and Ultred slotted in a goal apiece halfway through the third to tie the game up at 3-3. The tension in the arena was palpable before Ritchie found his third of the night to edge the Legion ahead on a power play with 7 minutes to play. THe Legion controlled the rest of the quarter and stifled the Bears in the remaining minutes, locking them down to only 4 shots in the third period while the Legion died their best to try and seal the game, firing a 16 shot barrage at Jacob Tonn but ultimately he did well to keep Seattle in the game.
