  1. Riga seattle new york quebec city
  2. I’ll take Joseph Bassolino @kayfabe
  3. 1. I definitely plan on hitting 200 TPE asap, maybe even before the end of January. In the 72 games, I would like around 65+ points. 2. I can't think of anything right now that would make a great impact on the VHL right now, it's very well run. 3. I haven't gone on the discord yet, since the team I was on last year (Wild) had their own discord channel. 4. I play for Las Vegas, and I think we will finish second, only behind Oslo. 5. I wasn't aware of the program. I would recommend the VHL to a friend if I knew others that were really interested in this type of thing. 6. I was drafted by the New York Americans, and being from New York, that was pretty cool. I think the Riga Reign are going to win it all this year though
  4. After the Saskatoon Wild swept the Ottawa Lynx in the finals to win the founders cup, the off season has brought many changes. Almost all of the players that were on the founders cup winning team have been either called up or were selected to different teams, including Carles Puigdemont getting drafted to Oslo, and Matthew Materazo heading south of the border to Las Vegas. The elite line of Dabarno, Peace and Trepanier is broken up, as they have all been moved up to the VHL. This years version of the Wild only has one player with more than 100 TPE, and only four above 50 TPE. This years team will more than likely not live up to their title defense, and there is actually a chance they finish in last and don't even make the playoffs. The Oslo Storm, who finished in sixth place last year, had themselves a great draft, where they had three first round picks, and had 8 picks in the first three rounds. By the end of the season, their is a chance that they have five, maybe even six or even seven players with 200 TPE. They have put themselves in a great position to contend this year, and are my personal pick to finish first place in the league. They don't have the greatest depth pieces, and perhaps a waiver claim or trade during the season. The Las Vegas Aces are also in a great position to contend this year, especially with their dangerous group of four forwards, which are Materazo, McDavid, Nathan N, and Dan Baillie. You can also include Shawn Mendes in that group, as he has 125 TPE. One part of the team that isn't great is their defensive group. They have Eric Parker, who is one of the best defenseman in the VHLM right now, but their talent on the back end takes a big drop after that. Lucky for them, their goalie is also one of the best in the VHLM. The Aces will make the playoffs, and have a great chance to make a championship run. The Ottawa Lynx were the biggest surprise of last year, after they made the playoffs practically by default, and then beat the Aces and took down the first place Rush before getting swept in the finals. This year they lost Elias Dahlberg, but they did a pretty solid job of replacing him. They have way more players than any other team, with 22 total skaters. But with those 22 players, only five have more than 100 TPE. While they will definitely make the playoffs, they may have to end up playing in the wild card round. However, I would say this team is probably better than the one they had last year, especially since they got JB Rift to replace Finn Davidson. The Halifax 21st enter the season after the disappointment of nearly edging of the Wild in the semi-finals, after they had a 3-1 lead before blowing it. This year, the team is definitely not as skilled as the team was last year. Of their 20 players, they only have four players of 100+ TPE. This team is very similar to the Ottawa Lynx, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them face each other in the wild card matchup. This team features the talent of John Madden, and goaltender Tyler Smith. This team doesn't have enough depth or enough high end talent as of now, although by the end of the season I'm sure a lot of these guys will be near 200 TPE. Last but not least, the Yukon Rush are coming into this season with a chance at being even worse than the Saskatoon Wild. When I wrote that I could see the 21st and the Lynx playing the wild card round, that was before I looked at this roster. And to think this team may make the playoffs. They don't have anyone over 100 TPE, and are kind of short on players as well. This team will not have a chance to get their revenge this season, as they are simply not good enough. That is a quick preview of the upcoming VHLM season. Here are my predictions for the year, assuming rosters stay the same the whole year (obviously they won't but just for the sake of this) 1. Oslo Storm 2. Las Vegas Aces 3. Ottawa Lynx 4. Halifax 21st 5. Saskatoon Wild 6. Yukon Rush The Wild get an undeserved playoff spot, while the Storm take first place in the league. Playoffs: 4v5: 21st vs Wild 21st win the series 2-1 2v3: Aces vs Lynx Aces win the series 4-2 1v4: Storm vs 21st Storm wins the series 4-1 Finals: Aces vs Storm Aces win the finals 4-3, Aces win the founders cup. While I'm probably biased, I think the Aces are good enough to knock of the Oslo Storm in a seven game series. Good luck to all six teams this upcoming year!

  9. When I joined this league, I thought it was really cool. I still do, but now I can work my way around things very easily. Doing things such as checking the website a few times a day to check if I have messages or notifications, and collecting my TPE is pretty much automatic at this point. I think if the VHL set up a remind, it would make things easier for everyone, especially for new members. I don't think this website is tough to navigate, but it would be one million times easier if we used the remind app. If you don't know what remind is, it is a messaging app where a person can create a group that people can join, and the person that made the group can send out messages to the others in the group, to "remind" them of things. This is used for school and sports teams a lot, and is very helpful. I think if we got someone to make a group, and every day they could message that days VHL games and results, or about certain point tasks, or reminders about certain events. This would make things for new members so much easier to begin to start collecting TPE. When I started, I was really confused, even after reading the How to get TPE article about five times. If we got a remind, and alerted everyone in the VHL community about certain point tasks and events coming up, it would be much easier and effective, and probably would result in more people being active, since they know when things are happening. Thanks for coming to my TED talk @McWolf @Beaviss @Beketov @Quik
  10. Jasper Canmore @omgitshim you’re up
  11. Throw my name in. I've wanted to be an executive of a team for a bit, and I think this would be a really cool experience. Also, my New Jersey Devils Franchise Mode is now in year 12 and has won it's fourth stanley cup, so yeah. I'm pretty qualified.
  12. Since I am on the New York Americans, I am probably biased, but I think we will take a big step in the right direction. We just drafted Ryan Sullivan Jr. first overall, and also picked up Joel Ylonen. They also got Ryan Zabby in the second round. They also have a ton of cap space to sign players, especially since Joseph McWolf is only making two million for the next two seasons. They also have a strong goaltender in Ismond Kingfisher. If they can fill out the rest of the roster will solid players, they will be in great shape. I have no doubt that Spade18 can definitely fill out this roster with reliable guys that can put the puck in the back of the net. An honorable mention is HC Davos Dynamo, since they can pretty much not do worse than they did last year, especially since they had a solid draft.
  13. Now that the VHL draft is officially done with, lets take a quick look at some notable picks and which teams did well. New York Americans To nobody's surprise, Sullivan went first overall to the New York Americans. Despite Elias Dahlberg's incredible talent, Ryan Sullivan Jr. was the best player in this draft, and the Americans picked up a big time defenseman for the squad. With their third pick, they also took Joel Ylonen, who I projected to go fifth. They reached a little bit, but they decided they didn't need a goalie, and didn't bother with drafting Brick Wahl, who had the second highest TPE total. With their tenth pick, they got Ryan Zabby, which was another great addition to their center depth. How did Goalies do? Despite having the second highest TPE total, Brick Wahl dropped to the 12th overall selection in this draft. He was taken by the Calgary Wranglers, who were definitely in need of a goalie. In my draft preview, I mentioned that Calgary may trade up for the third pick with New York to try to take Wahl, and while they didn't trade up, they did end up taking him in the second round. Still, Wahl dropped from where he was projected to land. Finn Davidson dropped even more, although this was understandable. The lack of a need for goalies hurt his draft stock, and caused him to drop to pick #17, despite having the fourth highest TPE total. Davidson has a bright future and HC Davos Dynamo has themselves a really good goalie prospect. HC Davos Dynamo This season was definitely a sad one for the HC Davos Dynamo. Despite finishing in last place, they didn't get the first pick. However, they picked themselves up an elite Elias Dahlberg, fresh off of a finals run while carrying his mediocre team on his back. They also got Piotr Jerwa with the ninth pick, which was a great pickup. He has a total of over 250 TPE and has tremendous upside as well. They got Finn Davidson in net with their third round pick. They also picked up John Madden with their sixth pick, who is a solid winger. All in all, HC Davos Dynamo had a strong draft. Why this draft teaches us a lesson This draft taught us many things if you paid attention to it. For one, it shows that goalies aren't in demand almost at all, and that perhaps expansion to reach 10 teams may be a potential idea. That would let more people reach the VHL and allow more goalies to become starters rather than just backups or even third string goalies. One thing it definitely taught us is that consistently getting nice TPE hauls every week will get you places. I have 99 TPE myself, and was drafted before guys such as Dan Baillie, who has 155 TPE. If you want to succeed in the VHL, you have to at least stay somewhat active and do your point tasks. What player in this draft will surprise us? I'm taking somewhat of a shot in the dark by saying Evgeni Komarov will become really good, if he stays active. He currently sits at 156 TPE and is only 16 years old. He could be really good. I obviously am tempted to say myself, but I think Komarov will emerge as the steal of the draft.

  15. Trevor Cobelo is currently an unsigned free agent right now, and if you happen to have a free roster spot, I would suggest you pick him up. While he only has 30 TPE right now, his ability to grind when motivated is unmatched. As him and I are friends, he has told me that he loves the idea of the VHL and all, but was frustrated that he couldn't get with a team, while I was achieving successs, even though he had discovered this first. Let me tell you, if you sign him, you will not be disappointed. Trevor Cobelo is an all time great grinder, and could gather a starting haul of 25 TPE in his first true week, and streamline a steady 10 or so TPE per week after that. When motivated, I have seen no one grind as hard as I have seen Trevor grind, and all you have to do is sign him to an entry level deal. By the end of the season, you will be thanking yourself for reading this and acting accordingly. @VHLM GM @TrevorC11
  16. With the New York Americans winning the draft lottery, they now hold the #1 and #3 overall picks in the upcoming draft. What prospects will be taken in this years draft? What do certain teams need? Lets take a look at what the New York Americans can use with their first overall pick: 1- Ryan Sullivan Jr. Not really a big surprise here. He is the overwhelming TPE leader, with a grand total of 298 TPE, compared to the second highest total at 256. The Americans would have to be foolish to not take him, and in this situation I would have them passing on Dahlberg. Sullivan is too good to pass up on. 2- Elias Dahlberg Even though Brick Wahl has more TPE than Dahlberg, Dahlberg was just far too good this season in the VHLM, and he carried his squad all the way to the finals with some help from their goaltender Finn Davidson. HC Davos Dynamo are in serious need of absolutely anything they can get if they want to be good anytime soon. With this pick I can also see them potentially taking Brick Wahl. However, they have three goalies already, and it's not like they have good players and just a weak pair of goalies. They are weak all around with the exception of The Charm, so I expect Dahlberg to become the new face of their franchise. 3- Brick Wahl If I were the GM of the New York Americans, I would trade down a pick or two. The next two prospects are elite goaltenders, but the Americans already have Ismond Kingfisher, a strong goaltender on his own. However, the gap between Brick Wahl and the next available player that isn't a goalie (Piotr Jerwa) is too large of a difference to reach for with the third pick. If I were New York, I would package this pick for the seventh pick, and then maybe Calgary can add in a player like Karl Von Moltke to complete the deal. 4- Piotr Jerwa I said that New York didn't really need a goalie that badly with their pick, and that same logic applies to Toronto as well, only much more seriously. Toronto has three goalies, and their backup goalie has a whopping 510 TPE. They really don't need a goalie, and should pass on Finn Davidson with this pick, even though he was incredible in the VHLM Playoffs. The difference between Jerwa and Davidson is only 5 TPE anyways, unlike the difference between Wahl and Jerwa, which was more like 40. Toronto has a solid core of defenseman, but could certainly use another talented player to beef up the D-Core. 5- Joel Ylonen Once again, Finn Davidson falls victim to the fact that most teams are already set and stone when it comes to goaltending. Ylonen has 214 TPE compared to Davidsons 221, so taking Ylonen over Davidson is definitely reasonable. Quebec City only has one center on their roster, so picking up Ylonen will add a center to their lineup that features guys such as Veran Dragomir and Beau Louth. That is my quick projection of the top five. I will probably have an article on why I think Finn Davidson will fall down the draft board a little. If I had to pick one player that will make the biggest contribution, it will be Elias Dahlberg. Not just as of now, since HC Davos Dynamo is terrible, but for years to come, Dahlberg will be a force in the VHL in my opinion.
  17. 1. I don't really care about the new members "stealing my thunder", it is always better to have more people, since then teams wouldn't have to rely on inactive players. 2. You have been doing this I would imagine, but advertise on more serious hockey websites. The advertisements also get removed a lot, although I'm not sure if that can really be fixed. 3. I am a little surprised that it came so easily, but I'm not surprised Saskatoon won. Ottawa was a serious underdog in every series and they just can't keep upsetting teams forever. 4. Not really. Riga is just far too talented to give up the lead, although Calgary is also very talented as well. It is possible but I don't see it happening. 5. I don't really care, but I prefer it not to be Riga, just because they have so many good players it would be hard to make a serious contribution. The New York Americans would be my ideal team to go to, I suppose. 6. I want to hit 200 TPE by next season and make a legit name for myself
  18. Do I have to submit this under recruitment for me to get the TPE?
