  1. Nevermind figured it out
  2. What does it mean to be a builder?
  3. Same lets go I haven't done anything this whole postseason
  4. Game 4 - Las Vegas Aces @ Halifax 21st Game 5 - Halifax 21st @ Las Vegas Aces Game 6 - Las Vegas Aces @ Halifax 21st Game 5: Vegas 4-2 Points leader: Nathan N Goals leader: Diljodh Assists leader: Parker
  5. Go to Toronto and pull a Tavares I'm not on Toronto and am not tampering
  6. Another game with 0 points. Why is my player a bum
  7. Helsinki Toronto Toronto 3-1 Toronto Points: Arroyo Goals: Ironside Assists: Johnsson
  8. 1) Definitely my Las Vegas Aces we are to good right now 2) All we need is to stay consistent, and as long as we continue what we have been doing we will be the champs in no time 3) I wouldn't, only because I'm already at 200 TPE and I'm hype to play for the Americans and live up to the hype 4) In a media spot I wrote I predicted Orion Slade would come in clutch for the Aces. The depth of Vegas is going to shine in the playoffs I think 5) No not really. I try not to get too cocky but I can't help myself 6) I think I am going to get around 14 maybe 15 TPE. I think thats fine, it is 15 extra TPE. I just think that the achievement tracker is unfair towards skaters and gives a heavy advantage to goalies. I had read that the top guys can hardly cap out on the achievement tracker, but some goalies easily cap out and reach upwards of 30 TPE sometimes. (I know it stops at 20 but its still wack)
  9. In his first full season in the VHLM, Matthew Materazo did not disappoint. After being drafted 18th by the New York Americans, and 3rd by the Aces in the VHLM draft, he got 90 points in 72 games, good for eighth in the league this year. After a slow start and only having 20 points in 26 games, he went on a grind and went off on multiple occasions, including being a nominee on Plates Player of the Week (which he should of won). He also finished eighth in assists, with 56, and eleventh in goals, with 34. He is a key part of the Las Vegas offense, and is also a piece on the Las Vegas penalty kill. He is ready to start his first full season in the VHL for the New York Americans. In the S64 mock draft, scouts said "Materazo has a bit less TPE than the other players that could have been selected here instead of him, but he's the better option, as he earns TPE at way better rate right now, Had he joined earlier in the season, he could have competed with some of the bigger names in the draft class for a spot in the 1st or 2nd round" When mentioning New York American prospects, the prospects were described as "Outside of Materazo, their prospects are decent but not franchise players". Materazo has not disappointed and is looking forward to making a name for himself in the VHL, winning championships, and making even maybe the hall of fame, and wants to bring on multiple generations of VHLers as his career winds down.
  10. Yes baby lets go ? Playoff time
  11. It's that time of year again, as five VHLM teams will take to the ice for the playoffs. Last year, the second placed Saskatoon Wild made quick work of the cinderella story Ottawa Lynx, who shocked the VHL world by defeating the first placed Yukon Rush in seven games. This year, we see the Yukon Rush heading to the golf course early, as they finished last this year. The defending champion Saskatoon Wild will get another shot at defending their title, but this year it won't be easy. They will have to go through the Oslo Storm in the first round, who massively underachieved this year. They ended up dealing many of their top guys to the three top teams (Halifax, Las Vegas and Ottawa) for picks. However, the Storm still have some solid players, including Matthew Kai and Donat Szita. They also have Sven Hitz but he is only out there to lay people out. They also have Divaani Sohva in net, who is pretty solid. The Wild are fairly lackluster this year, as they traded away most of their picks from last years draft in an attempt at a championship run (which was successful). They are left with Valeri Morozov as their top guy, and Titus Stone as their top defenseman. This years Saskatoon team is not good, to put it bluntly. This upcoming draft they have a couple first round picks, so next year the Wild will more than likely be better than what they were this year. This Oslo Storm vs Saskatoon Wild playoff matchup is fairly interesting, but if I had to pick a team I say the Wild take game one, but the Storm win games 2 and 3 and win the wild card matchup, and they will get to play Las Vegas in the second round. Now on to the 2v3 series, where the Halifax 21st, with Diljodh, Nathan Mackinnon, and Bolt Vanderhuge, will take on the Ottawa Lynx with Carles Puigdemont and Gritty. Halifax has more high end talent than Ottawa, as there fourth highest scorer (Nathan Mackinnon) has 89 points, which is the same as Ottawas highest scorer, Carles Puigdemont. Halifax also has great depth, with Anton Edvin (78 points) and defenseman Elasmobranch Fish (70 points) leading the charge of secondary scoring. Winger Nikita Flipachyev and defenseman Bald Buy also had notable campaigns for the 21st. While on the Ottawa side of things, the defense core of Brady Stropko Jr, Dallas Jones and Smitty Werbenjagermanjensen is one of the best in the VHLM, and they are also complimented by Evgeni Komarov, who apparently set a new record for most penalty minutes in one season with a whopping 219 penalty minutes. The offense is a well rounded group of guys, with Puigdemont and Gritty as the top two scorers, and guys like Kyson Blake and Shawn Mendes lead the second wave of scoring. Unfortunately for Ottawa, Halifax has better top end scoring as well as better depth when it comes to the offense. But when it comes to defense, I think Ottawa has Halifax beat. With the exception of Bolt Vanderhuge on Halifax, Ottawa has better defenseman when you look at guys and compare them. The key matchup for this series will be the goaltenders: Tyler Smith vs JB Rift. They both had very similar stats, and in the end, I think whichever goalie can play better will give their team the win. While JB Rift is a great goaltender, I'll take Halifax in a hard fought seven games. If we look back at my VHLM season preview, I predicted that the Oslo Storm would finish first in the league, and Las Vegas would be second and they would meet in the finals. Unfortunately for Oslo, they underachieved and dealt many of their skilled players. Now they come into this series against a Las Vegas team that is dripping with talent. Their offense consists of guys like Nathan N (113 points), Matthew Materazo (90 points), Connor McDavid (94 points), and Curtis Gary (86 points). They also have depth peices in Chance Matthews and Orion Slade, who both had more than 50 points this season. Lets not forget Dan Baillie, who had 91 points this year. Rocky LaGaraza and Josh Harris round out the final core pieces of this stacked Las Vegas offense, as the two third liners had 43 and 34 points respectively. And not only are the Aces going to score on you, they have the ability to shut other teams down. The three notable names on the blue line are Eric Parker (102 points), Mitch Matthews (54 points) and Jaggar Philliefan (68 points). They also have an elite two man rotation in net, with Kevin Weekes and Joe Nixon, who have nine shutouts combined and a 2.23 GAA. I see Las Vegas taking this series in five games, they are just so good this year. Better luck next year Oslo. Now, my finals prediction: Halifax vs Las Vegas. This truly should be an incredible series. Unlike last years matchup between the Lynx and the Wild, this one will likely go six or seven games, and will almost certainly not be a sweep. Diljodh and Nathan N were the two highest scorers in the league, while Bolt Vanderhuge and Eric Parker were the two highest scoring defenseman by far, as they both finished with 102 points, 32 points ahead of third place Elasmobranch Fish, who is on Halifax. The Las Vegas defense has the firepower to match the Halifax blue line in terms of scoring chances and points, and the defenses look very similar, as the Halifax 21st top 4 had only six more points than the Las Vegas Aces top 4 did through out the season. This is likely going to be high scoring series though, as the two teams combined had 12 players hit 72 points or more this season. Both defenses are capable of scoring as well, and in the end it could come down to which depth players can step up in the right moments, and which goalie can play better. I would say Chance Matthews, Orion Slade and Rocky LaGarza could seriously be the driving force behind between a strong Halifax team. While on the Halifax side of things, newcomer Hunter Hearst Helmsley, Nikita Flipachyev and Viktor Koslov could be a big factor for the 21st, as those are their primary depth forwards. This will be a great series, and I think Las Vegas will win it in six games. (definitely not biased at all) If there are any mistakes tell me and I'll fix it, this took some time and I may have put in a wrong stat or misspelled words 1,105 words Claiming week ending on 2/10 and 2/17
  12. Are you saying I am a franchise player I am flattered
  13. Matthew Materazo Forward Assists Points
  14. Ok I thought he wasn't selected for a hot second
  15. I shouldn't have said they were bad players, just not as good as other guys from other teams. I was also looking only at the TPE totals and didn't really take into account that some are young and will improve
  16. On Friday, the VHL commissioner Beketov announced that two more teams will be added to the VHLM, and the Oslo Storm will be relocated to Minnesota. The VHL also had their fair share of changes, with the Quebec City Meute relocating to Vancouver and the Moscow Menace being added to the league. It was a big day for the VHL and many would consider it a successful one. But was it successful? Lets take a look and see what the relocations and expansions do for the league. Lets take a look into the relocations. The Oslo Storm moved from the Scandinavian region all the way to the USA, where they are now the Minnesota Storm. This move came because of the lack of American teams, which was apparently a pressing issue for the league. As most of the VHL and VHLM are canadian teams, they decided to up their American representation. This is probably a good move in the end. They also added the Philadelphia Reapers and the Houston Bulls to the VHLM, which helps new members get more playing time on minor league teams, which I think is very important. In the VHL that is a little bit less of an issue since if you have enough TPE to make it to the VHL you are probably somewhat dedicated regardless of playing time. New members aren't, so if you can get them to have success early on more people will stay. They also announced the expansion of another VHL team, the Moscow Menace. The clear goal that the GM Victor had was to intimidate his opponents, as that is how they do it in Russia. He put it best when he described the logo as "Someone on the verge of taking over your home and make no mistake, the threat of invasion is very real!" Victor was GM for the HC Davos team that last won the cup, which was in Season 38. Victor hopes he can recreate the success he had with that team, but now with the Menace. The real question is who will make the playoffs first: Moscow or HC Davos? I certainly hope it is HC Davos, considering some teams (such as HC Davos) don't have many players that are actually good that will be left unprotected. This may cost them a third round pick if they can't get their act together and offer Moscow an active player in the expansion draft. However, Moscow will also likely get good players from the Riga Reign, the Seattle Bears, Toronto Legion and the Helsinki Titans. They should be able to get four really solid players from those four teams, especially Helsinki and Riga. The Titans have 11 players over 400 TPE, and most likely will have 12 by the end of the year. Moscow should have a good start to the expansion draft with some of the guys available from Helsinki. All in all, it was a successful day for the VHL. Perhaps one day we will have some many users that we need more teams. I also think it would be an interesting idea to give Rome a team, whether through relocation or expansion. Just because Rome is cool, they can put ice in the coliseum and play there. 544 words
  17. Have assistant GMs been picked as well or are those jobs available
  18. I have 189 TPE and if I do the media spot I would be at 201, which is one over the 200 limit. Is there a way I can only claim some of the banked TPE and not all of it so that I can still play in the VHLM for the season?
  19. If you couldn't tell, this years VHLM playoff race is not one of the most exciting in history. While the fight for 2nd place between the Lynx and the 21st is worth keeping an eye on, first and fourth place are nearly locks, as Vegas has an eleven point lead over Halifax. The Oslo Storm are also in the middle of a very disappointing campaign, with just 48 points and a record of 22-27-4. However, they still sit 15 points above Saskatoon, who is holding onto the second wildcard spot. Generally the second wildcard spot is a playoff spot for a bad team that wasn't bad enough to be last place. Last year it was the Lynx, and even though they went on a finals run, it was basically all Elias Dahlberg and Finn Davidson. The Saskatoon Wild and Yukon Rush both should not be in the playoffs, but one of them have to make it. So who will it be? The Wild hold a five point lead over the Rush, but both teams are absolute disasters. The plus minus between these two teams is incredible. They are a combined -197, as the Wild are -101 and the Rush are -96. The next lowest team, the Oslo Storm, are -20, and every other team is in the positive. It is mind boggling how bad these two teams are compared to the other teams in the VHLM. The Wild had a glimmer of hope with Curtis Gary on the team, but they traded him to Vegas early in the year. Now, their top player is Titus Stone, who has 81 TPE, 3 games played, 0 points, and has been active for a week. The situation is pretty dire in Saskatoon, but it somehow gets worse in Yukon. Judging by stats, you would think some of their guys are pretty good, including the likes of Jessy Thomas and Robert Renner, but nope. Athanasios Andrianopoulis has 80 TPE and has the most on the team. Thomas only has 72 and Renner has 53. In the end, I think the Wild will put it out and then in all likelyhood get smoked by Oslo, although look at last year with Ottawa. Maybe history repeats itself?
  20. 1. So far this season my guy has been exceeding my own expectations, and my player has been hot recently. I'll probably hit 200 TPE some time next week, and I'm trying to work on scoring and puck handling to 80 2. The way the VHL forum and other stat pages are very easy to navigate and use, the only thing I dislike is that your player doesn't have a game log so you can't see how your player has been performing recently and through the season. A little nitpicky but whatever. 3. Add the game log idea I just had and I would also probably do some more aggressive recruiting. 4. I'm on Las Vegas and we are killing it right now, so they are my favorite team. 5. After every season do a fantasy draft of four teams where the best of the best play during the offseason with 8 game season and the two top teams play for the "championship" Kind of like an advanced all star game, but more guys would get in and it would be an all star draft
  21. 215 Riga Reign @ Seattle Bears 216 HC Davos Dynamo @ Quebec City Meute 217 Helsinki Titans @ New York Americans 218 Toronto Legion @ Calgary Wranglers
  22. Even with the draft additions of Elias Dahlberg and Piotr Jerwa, the HC Davos Dynamo are as bad as ever, and it is a shame. After last years devastatingly awful season, they appear to have barely improved at all, with only seven wins in their first 42 games, and they are currently in the midst of a ten game losing streak. That is just dreadful. The second worst team, the New York Americans, have double the amount of wins as HC Davos. Take their top player, Alvaro Jokinen. He has 410 TPE and 34 points, which is quite good for a defenseman. But then you compare it to the Riga Reign, who have only three players with a lower TPE total than Jokinen, and one of them (Anthony Dabarno) is inactive. I mean, that's just insane. Only five players in the VHL have less than 100 TPE. HC Davos has four of those players, including a player with 89 TPE. Most players in the VHLM have more than that, and many have almost double, or even 100 more TPE than him. Not only is the depth extremely lacking and hardly even there to begin with, they also lack the star power to compete with other teams. Their top player from last year was The Charm, but they traded him to Seattle for their second round pick this year and next years first round pick. Seattle has been extremely successful this year, and The Charm is a key part to their success. He has 45 points and has the third highest total on the team. They also traded Shawn Brodeur and Adam Warlock to the Toronto Legion for a haul of picks and Rhett Stoffiday, which is actually a very solid move. Now lets take a look on the bright side. HC Davos has three first round picks this year. They have their own pick, Toronto's pick, and Seattle's pick. They also have Elias Dahlberg, who is an elite talent, to say the least. They have six picks in the first three rounds, but the only bad thing is they have no picks after that. They do have quality picks, but they don't have quantity. Another problem is that the next season, they only have three picks as of now, since they have traded all of their own picks besides their first and fourth round picks. They also have Seattles first round pick for next season, which they got from when they traded The Charm to the Bears. If someone asked for a timetable as to when HC Davos will get better, I don't know. Maybe this is just Trust The Process 2.0. I mean, that strategy did work for the 76ers of the NBA, who have one of the best teams in the league. I would have to give it this year and next year of being horrible, barring any trades or free agent signings, and then they can begin to return to competance. I would say they have three more years including this one of missing the playoffs, maybe four years if things don't pan out. It is a tough road to go down, but it may turn out for the best, only time can tell.
