  1. 1. I think we did a great job even making the playoffs. Signing me at the deadline provided enough back line to keep us in it. 2. I think my personal milestone was getting a point a game in the last 5 or so games in the season. Schauer started slow but picked it up later on. 3. Anything fish related sucks. 4. Seeing as though I'm a S74 prospect I have no choice but to play in the minors. If I had the choice, I would stay down there anyway. 5. Lynx win it next season. 6. Ajay is 100% our MVP. He was the core reason why we stayed competitive for the rest of the season. 7. Sweet Caroline all the way through.
  2. @IamMOOSE I would say that, just by looking at the numbers (provided at the time that I wrote the article anyway, things change all the time) I would say that Mexico City is the one that I would put as the team influencing the sim a bit better than other teams. Minnesota just has a lot of talent that they bought before the draft. I'm assuming that Mexico also bought, but the core of their group has been around forever. I'm going to do this again at the start of the next season with the mathematical changes that I had suggested in one of the responses I made.

  4. Markus Schauer was excited to be promised the premium ice-time as a top 2 defenseman, with powerplay and penalty kill minutes. He didn't expect there to be such a talent difference between himself and the rest of his blue line squad. As far as the German see's it, it's an opportunity for growth and development. "I'm playing against other players much better than I am." Said Markus after a 7 - 0 loss to Philadelphia. "We put in a solid effort, but if we want to go deep in the playoffs we need to tighten our game. I take responsibility for the loss though. I need to keep the back end locked and loaded." Schauer was later seen hard at practice working on his defensive awareness. He was looking back at the tapes to see where he went wrong. "Sometimes the first few games take a lot to settle into. Ottawa is a great city. The people there are very friendly and they've helped the transition be as smooth as possible." We’ll be able to see if Schauer can keep up with the pressure that the playoffs bring. It looks like he would be playing against Ottawa, facing the likes of Ike Bennet, Mickey Dickson, Squirrely Dan, and many others. “I have a lot of respect for players that put time into the game. I think we can reach that level too.”
  5. I prefer offensive defense men and teams are always looking for one or two of them to fill out in their roster. Because a lot of forwards focus on scoring goals, making a solid quarterback for a team is generally a good idea. It shouldn't be taboo to want to play an OD. You will have MUCH more fun in the league playing something you WANT, rather than something OTHER people want you to play. Review Really unique article. I thought that it was a pretty novelist alteration between what Wolf wants to be and what is expected of him. You did a great job with the imagery in this article. Only point of criticism that I have is to loosen up on the commas. Simple sentences can go a long way. There are times when writers try to introduce many different story elements into a scene and forget about the framework of the words they're using. If that's the only complaint you're getting for an article then it means you're doing a really good job. I'll keep a look out on your posts in the future ;).   6. Thanks @ahockeyguy for the kind words! Obviously there are too many factors to take into consideration. The methodology doesn't take into account TPE changes, as you stated, and instead just takes a flash point from one specific time and uses that to measure out how good a team should be. Ottawa for example, is playing the "most" out of expectation, but that's because they traded many of their good players early on in the season. You can't take away their efforts from the score that they have now. If you were to do this again with as much accuracy as you wanted, you would find a player and take their average TPE gains from each week, multiply that by how long the regular season is, and do that for every player. Then you can cap the number at 250 for each player and run a more complex equation to determine the amount of TP that a team would have. You can then follow the same methodology that I used from there to determine how many points a team should have gotten. In terms of trades, it's really hard to try and figure out what trade will team for what. The markets for players is something completely arbitrary and values are hard to establish. The only thing that I can think of is updating the list every week and running a "power rankings" media spot with it. Set it at a specific time every monday or so. But as you saw, the list of where teams should have been was pretty accurate. For example, Philly was basically spot on. The issue right now with the methodology is that the wins/losses do not equal out. However, with the way that I did it, each team was within 0.40 of the 33.02 point per tp average. Point per TP is something worth investigating further. It lets us know what teams are allocating their points better than others. It was just a fun little thought experiment that panned out pretty well considering the information that I was given. Just take the list with a grain of salt.

  8. When recreates are joining teams, it's through free agency right? The top prospects weren't drafted by Las Vegas they were signed there? Is that correct? If that's the case, you can't really limit who goes on what team. Or even how many players are eligible to join that team. Limiting ice-time ruins the experience for people that sign. You also can't push back the date because then players would have weeks without anything to do. The issue is that recreates are hugging each other, coincidentally or not, because they see that one team has the best chance at winning the cup and they all jump for it. We can indirectly limit how many recreates can join by allocating a certain amount of cap space a team can have towards recreates. Much like in real life, all the players want to go to the best teams. Those good teams have to manage cap space in order to grab those players. Since the VHLM is a different beast on it's own, and the cap signings are small in comparison, putting a limit to the amount of dollars that can be allocated into recreates might be a possible solution. Yes, I hear you say, what if the players just sign the minimum deal to join a team? Well, just like in real life, less money is a decision that a player has to make. Having less money in the start also slows down your TP earnings in the VHLM. (Maybe not by a lot, but by a little). It also means that VHLM GMs have more to think about with their money. But Plate, isn't that just the same as having a hard cap on the amount of players? There really isn't a difference between a hard cap on the number of recreates a team can have vs the amount of money that a team can sign for them. The difference between limiting how many recreates can sign vs how much they can sign for is instead of a "hard cap" on the number of players into a "soft cap" through cap and signing decisions. Yes, there is still a theoretical limit to the number of recreates that can join. But that number can change based on the decisions by the players and GMs. A hard cap doesn't allow for those decisions to influence the number of recreates that can go to a team, this system can. This system also doesn't touch any dates or limit ice-time for players as they would still be introduced into the system as normal. I can see why this might get shut down, but it's some food for thought. Sorry for the long post. Thanks for reading. -P

  10. It’s normal for teams to be bad. In fact, it’s even okay for there to be bad teams. Teams that don’t do well in the season have opportunity to sell their players to picks and gain spots in the draft. Being bad, in most cases *cough* Halifax *cough*, is temporary. When I was looking at Houston I was thinking to myself “If Houston wasn’t so bad, what would the league look like?”. I wanted to figure this out with math. So, I made a spreadsheet, put in some numbers, made some formulas, and came out with something neat. I took the TP totals of every team and divided it by the amount of points that team had. If Halifax had 100 points and they had 1000 TP in their roster, then their TP per Point (or TP3) would be 10. I did that with every team, found the average, and then gave or took points away from teams until they were as close to the average as possible. The way I will be showing the results is by giving or taking away wins from teams as they are in the standings now. The team with the least amount of change has played as closest to expectation as possible. I will be going down the list in ascending amount of change from where they are now. Important to note that not all the wins/losses equal out, this is a team by team basis. The bracket on the side is the correction you would make to put them where they are actually in the standings; This was a fun little experiment to get myself back into the league. If you aren’t aware of where teams are/should be, or you know someone that doesn’t know much about the quality of teams in the league, this might be a good article to help them out. I hope that you guys enjoy this little rabbit hole as much as I did. It would be cool if this was a regular thing. Please let me know in the comments where I went wrong. Just for next time, so that when I do another one of these for the start of next season, I can do a better job. This took a few hours to do and I want to make sure that I do them right.   11. This may be in the website already, but I would be genuinely surprised if it isn't. (I found this page after the edit) There should be a tab available where I can see the stats of each player on a team in the Forums. When you go to a team page and select the roster tab, it should have a drop down menu saying "Roster stats" that list all of the players stats for THAT season. There are All-time player stats, All-time goalie stats and All-time GM stats. It could be shown in the same way that the roster is set up when looking at players TPA. At least, if you can find the stats for players in the league, you should be able to go to that page from here. Just a small suggestion that would make some information more accessible. *A tab could be set up, similar to the arrow shown on the right of the S72, All-Time Player Stats, etc EDIT: I see the team scoring page now. But my suggestion still stands, you should be able to go see that teams scoring from here.
  12. Review Very good article overall. A good way to bring credibility to the rankings is by stating the criteria for which the logo is ranked. As an example, saying that I am ranking the articles based on their averages for three factors; Colour (Or color for you Americans), Shape, and Name Compatibility (How the logo relates to the team name). The way that you did it was totally fine. It would just be nice to know how you ranked it. I suppose we can assume personal preference, but it's harder to disagree with that. I can't say that your opinion is wrong and this upsets me. With that being said, I'm going to use my own suggestion. I'm raking the article on grammar, flow, and how right or wrong the list is. Grammar: 8/10 Flow: 10/10 Right/Wrong: 7/10 Miami is first and Saskatoon is second last. But most importantly, WHY DOES THE BULL HAVE A BEARD? @SirRupertBarnes
  13. Markus Schauer was born in Cologne, June 21, 2003. His father, Jonas Schauer, was a carpenter who drove the Zamboni for the local ice rink. Sofia, Markus’ mother, was always supportive of a potential hockey future for her child. Jonas would take little Schauer to the rink whenever he needed to clean the ice. Those would be the fondest memories that Schauer had of his father, who later died in 2010. Markus is a passionate player that takes the game very seriously. At the ripe age of 12 Markus moved with his mother to join the German U16 team Jungadler Mannheim. In his entire U16 career, he played 181 games with a tally of 114 points. He only made the playoffs twice, where he performed poorly. The pressure was too much for young Markus, as he only scored one point in 9 total playoff games. Hockey critics have had much to say positively about his play. “Schauer’s best attribute is his hockey sense. It is elite. He can anticipate plays, sometimes two steps ahead of his opponents, EPrinkside.com 2019 “He recognizes his options when playing the puck and rarely makes an unforced error, McKeen's Hockey 2019 Schauer is a two-way defenseman that plays both sides of the ice very well. He uses his hockey senses to break passes and find slots. His saucer passes, or “Schaucer” passes as his team mates lovingly call them, are an incredible tool in his arsenal. Defensively, he makes consistent plays that allow him to block shots or keep players outside of the slot. Schauer recently turned 17, as in yesterday, and therefore was ineligible to continue his journey in the U16 German hockey programs. There were offers from teams that were interested in seeing him play U19 hockey in Germany, but Markus had other plans. The VHLM has seen amazing development out of players, and with the built-in major system of the VHL, it was a sure choice for Markus. The strong international competition Schauer may find it hard to adapt to the playstyle. Time will be able to determine if Markus can put his offensive production to use, or if he will just be a defensive liability. But of course, he needs a team. As S72 ends Markus needs to pick a team to sign to. He has gotten offers from Ottawa, Saskatoon, Miami and Yukon. The prize is high, and the suspense is even higher. I’m joking, he signed with Ottawa.

  19. To the point that the "Rich get richer", I have three things to say. 1. There's the cap to tpe in the minors. Which means that even if somene hits above 200 tpe, they'll be sitting pretty going into the draft. And realistically, there would be about 10 or so players that fall into the cycle. With about 5 of them being elite in the draft. Which is realistic. 2. For new players, such as myself, most players stay in the minors for 2-3 years. For those that retire their players and start off with an advantage, like tripple H, they wouldn't stay in the minors as long. And would be able to play 2nd or even 1st line icetime in the VHL when they get drafted. Which is exactly what hapens with some players when they do get into the majors. 3. This system rewards for good simming. Pickems and lotto are completely random for tpe gain. Whereas this system rewards players for simming well. And honestly, as a new player joining the league, it would be sweet knowing that if I made a player that got better for simming. Then I might put more time into making him better. And I would also pay more attention to the games that happen. I would be forced to see each game and read box scores for extra tpe. Also, I would like to point out that I think the system of having a player being only eligible for their draft if they make their character after the trade deadline is inefficient. What happens is players that are made earlier are just going to end up like tripple H. This is an alternative to making a tripple H rated player, without being a vet. And the main problem with the achievment tracker, as I stated in my original article, is that you don't get your tpe during the season.

He was drafted well before I was in the same draft as me and is nowhere near as good. Nice to see that I can swindle Yukon out of a good prospect. 4. When I play NHL 19 irl with @SirRupertBarnes, he takes a ton of penalties too. Honestly he needs to keep his stick to himself.
