    How have you dealt with the pressure to keep up this recent strong run of results?
    I'm just having a good time, baby.

    Which unit on the team do you think would be the reason the team wins the cup, and why?
    The Red Guy because we'll only go as far as our goaltending and superb defense can take us.

    Who has stepped up as a real leader in the locker room down the stretch for Yukon?
    Erik Draven!

    If you could add any player currently on another VHLM roster to the Rush, who would it be and why?
    Adrienne, he's a great friend of mine. @Green

    How important is the team's impending 4-game stretch against Philadelphia and Ottawa to our playoff momentum?
    Incredibly important. These are the top tier teams. If we want to be considered a contender, we have to perform well here.

    Which team would you want to face in the Cup Finals the most and why?
    Philadelphia. I want to beat @BladeMaiden.

    Ace got a reaction from Jbeezy76 in Eller Campaigns for Copenhagen VHL Franchise
    One of the most appealing things about the VHL to European players like Frans Eller is the presence the league has in the European market. So many top tier sports leagues find themselves as North American-centric, and European fans are either forced to watch and follow on delay, or in incredibly inconvenient hours of the day. The VHL saw this void in the sports market, and filled it with intelligence and expertise. Frans Eller has been quite vocal of his support of this strategy, but he'd like to go one step further - expansion in his home town, Copenhagen, Denmark.

    Time for some raiding and pillaging!

    The Pagans uniforms will predominately be red and white, echoing the crisp colors from the Danish flag. The plan is to slowly build up to contention, and depending on expansion rules, pick up on players that would have value around the league and then sell them to the highest bidder for additional futures assets. This strategy has a higher chance at long term success, but it won't be without of its growing pains. Fans cannot latch themselves onto the new franchise and expect success right off the bat, they have to become invested in the grassroots approach of the management of the front office. Get a prospect that you like, latch onto them, and watch them develop in the VHLM until they're ready to make the jump to Copenhagen and make their impact known in the VHL. Now, how would the expansion work? Would each franchise have the opportunity to protect five forwards, three defensemen and a goalie? Or just seven players? There's a bunch of different options that the Head Office could consider, and each of them offers a unique set of circumstances and opportunities for the incoming expansion franchises.

    One of the other top tier hockey leagues, the Simulation Hockey League, opted for these rules for their most recent expansion for their 46th season.
    Teams must submit a protected list of 7 F, 3 D, 1 G or 8 S, 1 G. All players drafted in the last two seasons (S44/S45) are automatically protected. These protection slots cannot be traded. If a team elects to expose an FA and that player is drafted by an expansion team, that player will be unable to return to the team that exposed them for one season. The expansion team will hold RFA rights to that player for one season. If the rights to this player are traded by the expansion team, they lose their temporary RFA status. Each team will lose two players to the expansion draft. GMs, Co-GMs, and players with NMCs/NTCs must be protected unless they are willing to waive.
    Those two franchises have been relatively successful after this process only three seasons in. There was, however, legitimate backlash on how easy it was for them to contend. The New Orleans franchise made the Challenge Cup Finals in their first season. I wouldn't advise the VHL to put a franchise in a position to contend that quickly, as it can leave a bad taste in the mouths of GMs that have been working very hard at climbing back out of the basement.

    No matter what happens, Eller has his firm support behind the Copenhagen Pagans making a triumphant arrival to the VHL.

    Ace got a reaction from Rayzor_7 in Yukon Reinvesting in Facilities? Don't Hold Your Breath
    There's been a lot of scrutiny regarding the facilities that the Yukon Rush players utilize every season. When comparing their facilities to other franchise's in the VHLM, the Rush are woefully unqualified and under supplied. Instead of a full gym, the Rush expect their players to train by carrying large bags of concrete bricks from one side of their sales office to the other. Hot tubs? No way, try "jump in the fucking lake outside of the rink, we'll give you a blanket and a blow dryer after, that should make your body rebound after intense workouts".

    Yukon's training facilities.

    Rush center Frans Eller was caught on mic on Tuesday - "I don't know why they just don't spend the money on it. I had a better training experience when I was playing soccer when I was 7. It's pathetic. All it takes is what, $500,000 or so to build what we need if we want to truly compare to other teams? I don't know how we're keeping pace in this league with what we've got. Imagine if we had the same infrastructure as a Philadelphia? We'd be blowing their doors off."

    Some would say that this is a "tough love" type of training. Not everything needs to be catering or to spoil the players, but it's no secret that players that are happy and having fun produce a lot more than upset, negative players. When asked for comment, the Yukon Rush front office had the following statement -

    "The Yukon Rush franchise has always met the VHLM's rigorous training facilities requirements and we're proud to be among the league leaders in the standings thus far this season. There's no reason for anyone to consider our facilities any less adequate than other franchises, and any other claims are unfounded and inaccurate. The Rush will have no further comment on this topic at this time."

    It's clear that this accusation has struck a nerve of the Yukon front office - we sent an undercover reporter to gain more intel on the true condition of these training facilities. The results of their investigation were shocking. Daily meals were indeed provided, but instead of a well balanced meal that a high level athlete requires, McDonalds "McDoubles" were provided at room temperature with bottled "Bug Juice" products from the local convenience store. The players were not provided the consultation of a nutritionist, and were told to rely on what their "Lite Edition Calorie Counter App" that the GM staff installed on each of their smartphones had advised them for peak nutrition. They also had no strength and conditioning coach, only a 83 year old Vietnam Veteran who keeps claiming that he got strong by eating kimchi and running barefoot eight miles a day. It's not clear if that will directly translate to on ice endurance yet.

    When asked about these findings, the Yukon Rush franchise did not respond.

    One thing is for sure, things aren't quite up to snuff in Yukon, and the players are getting to the point of letting the whole world know.

    Ace got a reaction from NotAVHLM-GM in Frans Eller Vows To Return Home?
    Frans Eller has been quite vocal in the media lately, promising all that he will return home and hang up his skates at the conclusion of this season. Does this mean he's done in the VHLM? What about the VHL Draft? What is next for the Danish centerman?

    "I will be returning to Copenhagen to assist my mother in the opening of a new store. Our cobbler storefront has done exceptionally well and we expect the positive momentum as we continue to grow our business at home."

    Does this mean he's done playing hockey? Don't count on it.

    "God no, I am not done chasing my VHL goals. Only helping out my mom, like all good sons should."

    Perhaps we were misunderstanding the quote initially, but signs are positive that Eller will return to Training Camp next season as he pushes to reach the next level, the VHL. Time will tell if his skills will translate or not.

    Ace got a reaction from Tbeez99 in Eller Hunting For VHL Home?
    Reports are swirling that VHL Prospect and current Yukon Rush centerman Frans Eller has requested that any VHL teams that are interest in acquiring the Danes services contact him prior to the draft. It was no secret that Yukon’s selection of Eller came as a surprise to the Dane, and at first he wasn’t sure it would work out. Thankfully, things settled down and Eller has acclimated well to Yukon and the Rush as they pursue a VHLM Championship.

    Eller’s agent recently fielded his first inquiry regarding the Danes future VHL services, and encourages more GMs to reach out to better get to know the Danish centerman with a knack for putting the puck in the net.

    “Frans just wants to know who is interested in him, and how he’ll fit in before he can commit long term to a franchise. Returning to Europe to play in the local leagues is always an option for him if he doesn’t feel comfortable.”

    It’s yet to be determined how this aggressive behavior from a prospect will impact his draft stock, but time will tell. We’ll update you as this story progresses right here at VHL.com.

    “Frans, Jim Matthews from TSN. Great game out there today. It was a great win for the Yukon squad. You guys outshot the Kings 34 to 9, and you guys dominated them on the scoreboard. How did it feel out there?”

    “Yeah, I am real proud of the guys. The game began as a tight contest, but we really got it going in the second half of the first period. Stansson Jr. got us started, and we didn’t look back after that.”

    “Absolutely. Your team has been right on the precipice of being one of the top tier teams, but seem to take a step back right when you’re ready to announce your arrival as a legitimate contender. Why is that?”

    “If this league was easy, everyone would be on top of the standings. There has to be a top dog, and with the Reapers’ lethal offense, they deserve to be where they’re at in the league. They’re an awesome team. One thing they don’t do that we do here in Yukon, is play a defensive system that smothers their opposition. Sure, they’ve scored something like 50 more goals than us, but we have allowed the least amount of goals in the league, and it’s not an insignificant amount less that the 2nd placed team in that category. Our coaching staff and management squad, @Josh and @cody73 have done an awesome job putting a system in place that is putting us in a position to make some noise out there and in the postseason. I’m very proud of our guys, and we have a lot of work still to go.”

    “Well said, Frans. You yourself had a two goal game – tell me about those goals.”

    Frans shifted slightly, and his eyebrow dropped a bit as he attempted to recall the goals.

    “Yeah, they were really just a result of my teammates putting me in a position to succeed. The first one was a great play up the boards by Srraxxarrakex, and as a side note, do you know how long it’s taken me to learn this guy’s name? All jokes aside, Draven did what Draven does, and fired it cross seam, and sauced it above the defenders stick. I just had to have my stick in the right place, and it found the net. Great work by the boys. My last goal was a transition goal where Girth found me in stride. I was able to split the defenders and open up Conklin. I’m just happy it went in.” @Jbeezy76

    “Frans, your game seems to be coming alive lately. What are you seeing that’s different?”

    “I don’t think anything is particularly different, Jim, but I do think that the game seems to be slowing down for me. I’m able to take a bit more time with the puck to evaluate my options, and I think that may just be me acclimating to the skill level of this league. Maybe the VHL teams will come calling and I’ll be ready for a faster pace of play next season, but for now, I’m focused on winning with the Yukon Rush.”

    Ace reacted to Speed in Yukon Rush: Middle Dogs
    Lets talk standings. Yukon sits in the dead center of the pack, sitting at a modest 37 points on the season, comparing to the top (Philadelphia Reapers-53pts) and the bottom (Mississauga Hounds-13 pts). So we can confidently claim Yukon as a middle of pack contender for the time being. Yukon continues to stagnate coming out the second quarter of the season, Dropping 3 games while only taking 2 in the past 5 games. Yukon's coaching staff was obviously displeased with the start to the mid-season, and are looking to make "small to moderate" changes to the lineup. Besides the slight bumps, Yukon still has bright spots and even brighter futures for the players in the organization.

    Frans Eller (C)
    Frans Eller is that two way player that you need on every team, but so far this season he has broken out to be almost a point per game player for the Rush. With 31 points in 32 games and a +/- of 15, He has shown he can make the next step to be the all around superstar with a quik stick, as Eller shows great positioning and stick work on the defensive end. If Eller can continue producing and truly mold into a dynamite all around center, I'd bet on Yukon being a huge contender in the near future, and maybe even a Captain.

    Justin Rushmore (W)

    Another player doing his job well is Justin Rushmore. With  20 points, (11G 9A) Rushmore is another Yukon player keeping up well with point totals and producing. With a big 6'5" frame, and 222 pounds of straight hockey strength, he has good speed and stick handling for a player his size. Rushmore has come out strong and confident, taking lots of shots and getting a good amount of physical play in. There is still more season left, and we expect to see Rushmore get even more physical, and  await his point totals at the end of the season.

    Thanks for tuning in to the Yukon articles, I will continue to review the developing players on the Yukon Rush team and analyze the teams success, and failures.

    Lance Flowers is a stout, stalwart presence with deep roots in playing the game the right way. Like a well targeted vine whip, his stick intercepts a miscalculated passing play and quickly turns the puck back up the ice for a counter attack. When the spotlight is on him, his game really seems to bloom and yields strong results for the Yukon Rush.

    Frans Eller is a defensive specialist, preferring to mitigate all damage to his team by protecting it with a strong shell of two way play. Despite his rigidity, he does contain lethal talent if the opportunity presents itself. When it is time to seal the deal on the ice, Eller and his line jump over the boards and there’s no getting past their shell.

It’s almost as if he had some physic abilities to manipulate them to his will. Brendan Plunkett – Zapdos
    @MetalToday

    Brendan Plunkett has a high flying skillset that electrifies the crowd. His dekes are legendary, and he seems to appear from clouds in opposing defensive zones, striking when it is least expected with the ferocity of a bolt of lightning.

    Lance Flowers – Venusaur
    @CowboyinAmerica

    Frans Eller – Cloyster

    Frans Eller is a defensive specialist, preferring to mitigate all damage to his team by protecting it with a strong shell of two way play. Despite his rigidity, he does contain lethal talent if the opportunity presents itself. When it is time to seal the deal on the ice, Eller and his line jump over the boards and there’s no getting past their shell.

    Wolf Stansson Jr – Arcanine
    @Cornholio

    Like his name suggests, Wolf is very much a pack oriented player. He prefers to distribute the puck to his packmates and enjoys his team’s success as much, if not more than his own. He’s also a strikingly beautiful athlete, always at the top of his game and eager to please the female fans. Stansson takes a fiery approach to protecting his side of the ice, and isn’t afraid to let his opponents that overstay their welcome in front of his own goal feel the burn.

    Andrej Petrovic – Golem
    @Tyler

    Petrovic is a stone back there for the Yukon Rush, using his positioning and strength to patrol the Yukon blue line. His ability to force turnovers is akin to a take down, often times resulting in his opponent sprawling on the ice after being forcibly removed from their skates, completely legally of course. His slapshot moves with the force of a tectonic plate slipping from its place, and it can catch a goaltender by surprise if they are unsuspecting.

    Willie Dredge – Hitmonlee
    @sjs88speed

    Willie Dredge is an all-out attacking presence on the Rush, looking to strike quickly when there’s a lane. His quik shot is deceptive and can sneak its way through the smallest of holes and strongest of goaltenders. His legs are his greatest strength, allowing him to turn his opposing defensemen into turnstyles and beat them wide to the outside to create a scoring chance. You’ll get a kick out of his playing style.

    Justin Rushmore – Mewtwo
    @street

    Justin Rushmore is one of the fastest players on the Yukon Rush, and seems to be able to manipulate time and space to his will with his creativity on the ice. He displays all the tell-tale signs of doing one thing, baiting both defenseman and goaltender into a posture that allows him to create offense. It’s almost as if he had some physic abilities to manipulate them to his will. This talent didn’t come naturally to Justin, however, but due to hard work by both himself and a team of coaches and mentors, he’s developed into a true talent.

    At the end of each full week I'd like to recognize the top three players for the Yukon Rush during that time period. This is for the played Yukon games 1-16.

    ⭐ 1st Star - Brendan Plunkett ⭐

    Plunkett joined the team being the highest TPE forward and his excelled in his position on the first line. Over the first week he has bounced around the VHLMs top 10 in points and still retains a spot in the ninth slot with 22 points. Congratulations on this outstanding performance!

    ⭐⭐ 2nd Star - Frans Eller ⭐⭐

    Eller has found a nice spot on the Rush's top line after filling in for the lack of a clear cut first line center at the start of the season. He has been a strong core player after ramping up his skill at faceoffs and has contributed on both sides of the puck.

    ⭐⭐⭐ 3rd Star - Wolf Stansson Jr ⭐⭐⭐

    While Flowers had stolen the spotlight in his leadership position with the team, Stansson Jr has far exceeded expecations in his role and shown excellent performances both offensively and defensively. With his team leading +9, he pulls up into the final spot of our top 3.

    With the memery and Facebook.com shenanigans regarding an invasion of Area 51, there’s been word that a jailbreak has occurred from deep within the heavily guarded secure government facility within the desert of Nevada. A girthy red being was caught on a blurry cell phone video running and vaulting over the tall, barbed wire fences.

    “Who was that? What was that?” inebriated onlookers shouted, clearly bewildered by what they saw. In a cloud of dust and sand, the being instantaneously came to a complete stop. “I’M A RED GUY!” it exclaimed. Its skin wasn’t truly red, but translucent, with its inner organs and blood movement free to view through the window that was its epidermis. It continued its escape with ease, accelerating to what looked like to speed of a cheetah with just two strides.

    A chopper flew overhead. One of the tents outside of the security permiter buzzed with radio static – “Alert the National Guard and get them to Alaska. Call the Canadian embassy. He’s going to be headed North.”

    Ace got a reaction from Tyler in Yukon Rushing to Start Season
    The Yukon Rush have played five games to start their VHLM season. They’ve started strong, posting a record of 4-1-0 with 19 goals for and 13 goals against for a combined goal differential of +6. They’re enjoying a three game winning streak, and are looking to continue the positive momentum as they chase down the Minnesota Storm.

    The Rush go as Brendan Plunkett goes, it seems. Plunkett, a Canadian winger, has posted an incredibly stat line of 5 goals and 5 assists in only 5 games, resulting in an impressing 2.0 points per game rate. Some would say this pace is unsustainable, but in the VHLM, anything can happen. Plunkett is the left winger on the Rush’s top line, alongside winger turned center Frans Eller and right winger Erik Draven.

    Undrafted goaltender A Red Guy has proven to be of another planet. It’s no coincidence that his emergence as an elite VHLM goaltender coincides with the rumored Area 51 raids. More on that one later. A Red Guy has posted a 4-1 record, despite a sub .900 save percentage. His goals against average is adequate, however, with a respectable 2.57.

    The man who should be getting all of the attention is stud defenseman Wolf Stansson Jr. The hulking brute of a man who stands 6’ 8” tall and weighs 250 pounds shrugs off any opposition who dares attempt to take the body. You simply cannot take away the puck from him, unless you’re wearing rocket skates. Stansson Jr. has collected 9 points in 5 games played, but has surprisingly not done much on the shots blocked or hits categories. He must be a possession monster out there in addition to being a literal monster.

    Defenseman Andrej Petrovic seems to be the guy that is in the shadow for the blue line of the Rush. The mobile 6’ 1” defender has collected 5 points while leveraging a physical edge to his game, collecting 9 hits and 5 shots blocked. He’s quietly putting together a fantastic start to the season and provides that depth that is so crucial for the team to be successful.

    Next up for the Yukon Rush is the Houston Bulls who have spun their tires and struggled to gain traction so far this season. The Bulls have a 1-2-2 record with a -2 goals differential. The Bulls’ leading scorer is blue liner Khalabib Stiopic, so the Rush need to ensure they can keep the Texas forwards quiet and try to contain the dynamic defenseman.

    After the Bulls, the Rush will be heading to the opposite side of the continent and country to visit the Halifax 21st. Halifax is another middle of the pack team, with a record of 2-3 but a +1 goal differential. The 21st also have a high end blue liner with Luciano Valentino leading his club with 8 points in 5 games.

    We will be back next week to analyze the week that happened and to highlight the players that have stepped up big for the Rush.
