  1. #1 and #3 are my favorites. I like #1 a lot but the think that put me off was the choice of font to be honest. So I voted #3, I like the lighting and text a lot there. Obviously the S74 would have to be changed lol
  2. 1. With the recent hiring of new VHLM GMs, share your thoughts on how this will help the league. I think Rory is a good member and I think he should be great in Halifax, Thad has burst onto the scene so I'm intrigued by what he might do in charge of San Diego, and Zetterberg is a pretty active presence from what I saw in both the Yukon LR back when I was there along with the Pro-Am this offseason. So I think they're all pretty good hires and I'm looking forward to seeing what they each do with their teams. 2. Would you be pissed if your player ratings were reset to 40 (you'll still have your tpe)? I mean as long as I can apply it back again, not really. My ratings are all pretty simple right now (five attributes at 90, two at 80). Although if Experience went back to 35 I'd be a bit annoyed; I just had to claim three seasons' worth of experience points this offseason because I forgot to do it lmao. 3. What's one goal in life you want to achieve? This is a very big question and to be honest I don't know if it's one I have the answer to. I mean I have straightforward goals that I haven't accomplished yet, like have a fulfilling relationship, or a career that makes me happy. I'm still young, so there's a lot I'd like to achieve. 4. How has the off-season been for you? Not bad. Been able to really get my TPE earning up before next season, I thought it would feel long but it honestly hasn't. I think stuff like the awards show and the draft has made it go by quicker. 5. Chewy or hard chocolate chip cookies? Chewy all the way. Especially fresh home-made chewy chocolate chip cookies. 6. Quik recently said that we need a new mascot for the team. Do you have any ideas on what our new mascot should be? I was going to suggest some kind of bird, but like all of our mascots so far have been unrelated to an actual phoenix. And firecat got us pretty far last season. So we need something related to fire. Maybe the "this is fine" dog? Or that could seem to negative. I dunno, I'm not a mascot expert.

  5. I'm happy to see you back and making graphics! I like the simplicity of the sig, I think you're good enough that you can make this kind of sig work, because it works here. I like the duplicated render in the background, I think it really helps with the overall composition. I think overall the text is nice (the shifted outline works well) but I think maybe a different font would work a little better - unfortunately I can't come up with some really concrete advice, I just feel like it's missing a little something. Also while I like the use of color here I feel like maybe the lighting on the render could use a little bit more work to prevent it from looking washed out and improving the smooth/clean texture of the sig. 8.5/10
  6. This is pretty good! I can see you've definitely got some good stuff going on here. I like the soft stock work and the lighting looks nice too, especially the light behind the player's head creates a nice effect. I like the colors, too, I think the sig mostly looks consistent and well-blended. I do have some criticism, though. First off I feel like the render could be placed a little bit better. I don't like the empty space above the head, it makes the sig look unbalanced to me. And I think it would look better if the player wasn't in the dead center. The text could also use some work - it almost seems like you made the sig and then added the text on top. The text could maybe be placed a bit closer to the middle of the sig, and possibly moved down below the stock work so it blends better with the rest of the sig. All in all, I can definitely tell you have some graphical ability and I think the next step is just to combine that with better composition. 8/10

  9. Congrats to Hoop and Dollar! Glad to see Krishna getting some love (and I expect there will be more to come for Wolski tonight)
  10. Let's goooooooo (....no votes for Rhynex is surprising, though)
  11. Very well deserved winner!

  13. Great article, it's been really interesting to see the drop in scoring in the "portal era" with larger draft classes and more depth/parity. I wonder what some other great players (O'Malley, Rafter, McAllister?) might look like in the context of the first or ninth generations. Plus with Campbell, I'd also note that he had the benefit of not just playing in a higher-scoring era but also starting his career in Season 1 where there wouldn't have been a gap to make up between him and other players in his rookie season. So he basically got to be the player with the most TPE in the league (or somewhere around there) his entire career, which is never going to happen again unless the league goes completely crazy.
  14. Hello everyone. Looks like the job of asking questions is falling to me this week. Here goes nothing... 1) Malmo won their first-ever cup yesterday after defeating DC in Game 6. Who were you rooting for in the finals and what were your thoughts on the result? 2) Now that the offseason has started, there have been a bunch of trades. Do you think there will be more to come? 3) Speaking of trades, Chicago added Kyl Oferson and Lucas Brandt to the team recently. How do you feel about these acquisitions? 4) The Season 76 draft is coming up on Friday. We don't have a first round pick (thanks @JeffD), but if we did are there any prospects you'd want us to draft? 5) What are your thoughts on the next season? Do you think we can build on our playoff success? 6) The world is still chaotic. What's something that you're looking forward to, or something you feel grateful for right now?
  15. With the finals coming to a close just yesterday, the VHL offseason has already started with a bang as we’ve seen 14 trades within less than 24 hours. It began with the DC Dragons, fresh off a finals loss, being the most active - acquiring DeFenz Mann and Cinnamon Block to round out their defensive core, trading down from 6 to 7 in the draft with Toronto, and fulfilling a prior trade condition with Davos. Also active in the market was Calgary, who made the aforementioned DeFenz Mann trade with DC, moved up in the draft from 4th to 3rd, acquired Riley Couture and Sheldon Juniper from Vancouver, and dealt away young goaltenders Michael Olson and Jacob Carson in separate trades. Additionally, there have been two more teams making big moves thus far, and likely for different reasons: Moscow and Seattle. Moscow has been possibly the most aggressive in the market going into Season 76. While some might think the retirement of goaltender Raymond Bernard might spark some kind of rebuild or retool, the Menace still have star players Mikko Lahtinen, Alex Letang, and Roque Davis and have looked to upgrade the rest of their roster around these players. Along with dealing away Lucas Brandt and Oskar Lagesson, they acquired all-star forward Kris Rice from Seattle in exchange for Vin Calia and a second round pick, then traded a first, second and third in exchange for Ryan Schwarz, Jay Jones, and a second from London United. Seattle, meanwhile, seems to have an eye more on the future. Along with the Rice/Calia trade, the Bears also sent forward Kyl Oferson to Chicago in exchange for a first-round pick. What was likely the surprise of the offseason so far, however, was the second trade between Seattle and Moscow. In a like-for-like swap, Seattle sent starting goaltender Jacob Tonn to the Menace in exchange for Rara Rasputin, who had been the heir apparent to Bernard. Rasputin is entering his second year in the VHL after playing backup in his rookie season, and looks to be one of the top goaltending prospects in the league. Tonn, meanwhile, is entering his prime and seems set to take over as one of the league’s best in the future. With news coming out that Tonn is likely to retire from the VHL earlier than expected, this hammers home not just Moscow’s short-term plans, but also the unexpected nature of the offseason so far. With the draft and free agency still yet to come, we’ll see if the league has more twists (and not the Lucas Brandt type) in store for us. I tried to write a really short article for VHL.com just because I wanted the TPE and it ended up being over 400 words. Help me
  16. Did not expect to see this trade. Surprising that Tonn's retiring early but I can see how this would fit each team's long-term plans.

  19. Congrats Malmo! To be honest I would’ve been happy to see either team win it but I was rooting for the Nighthawks more.
  20. Unfortunately it will not, but I wish you all luck in the rest of the game.
