A big focus on Roger's training camp this season is to focus on his reaction time. Last season the rookies reaction time was too slow for the VHL style of game and it led to some weaker goals being let in due to not reacting fast enough to shots being taken. "It was a big focus for me in my individual training in Poland and now with my goalie coaches here in the LA Training camp" Roger said "It was the one area we identified that I needed to improve if I wanted to be a better goalie here in the VHL. With the last 3 months I believe I am now at a point where I feel comfortable with my reaction timing and it should be a big boost to us this season" With a few off-season setbacks, the LA Stars will more then likely not be in the race for a playoff spot, but maybe if Roger's training pays off and he can steal a few games they may be able to nudge themselves into a wildcard spot.

The season gets that much closer with official training camp opening for VHL teams across the league. Most players and fans across the league start to feel the excitement of the start of the season. In LA thought it was anything but excitement to start day as as another piece of bombshell news dropped. Just like at the beginning of un-official training camp when I-Smellz announced his retirement before playing a single GHL game, the team got hit with some more bad news. It seems like the LA Stars cannot catch a break this season with their rebuild progress. The team and management found out through a social media post that their newly acquired player, Gustav Mattias, will not be reporting to training camp and will be leaving the league. Mattias was a recent acquisition in where LA gave up a 1st round pick for his services. The team was hoping Mattias would have been a good replacement for recently lost Pombo but that will now not be the case. In the span of a week it seems like LA has lost 2 great players for nothing at all with the sudden retirement of Samsays I-Smell and now the post Mattias will be leaving. Mattias will still play this season but has refused to attend any training, camp or team meetings. He will just show up for the games and that is all. "Usually training camp is supposed to be fun and getting back on the ice with our team-mates but we're just getting hit after hit of bad news" Roger said "That is life sometimes but I think it would have been better to know Mattias wasn't committed to playing before sending out 1st overall assets in a trade. I know the management is doing what they can to improve the team but 3 player losses in such a short time is never great for morale. We will do our best and we know this was out of managements hands. No one could have predicted that any of this would of happened" LA was hoping to get back into the playoffs this season, even just the wildcard spot but now with the loss of Pombo and 2 sudden departures, thinks may look bleak on that side unless additional help arrives. "We still have hope as a team but I know it will be tough for Management to make moves, we just lost a 1st overall that could have been used for a player that could help, but instead we got a player who is no longer interested in the league. This definitely is a set back for the goal I set at the end of last year that we were going to make the playoffs. "Roger said "throughout all these bombshell news, the team is in pretty good spirits. No one could have predicted this as it caught management and the players off guard but the current team has been able to build a stronger chemistry. We will see how it plays out on the ice for us but maybe that playoff goal will have to wait another season or two"

After the trade of Pombo from LA, the stars were shocked with more news when rookie samsayz i-smell decided to retire without playing one vhl game. The 7th overall draft pick in the S95 draft was set to be a significant prospect for the Stars and was expected to play his first full season in the VHL this season. "Not sure what that was all about, as far as I knew they were excited to come play for us and then right before training camp they decide to hang up their skates for good " Roger says "It's quite baffling to me, they were a very solid player and could have done some good things in the VHL. That's hockey I guess and we just have to move on. Will make things tougher with this loss but we still have some great players on this team" It is not yet known if LA management will look for any replacements or if they will start the season with what they have. With Roger's goal being to make at minimum the wildcard this season, this retirement may put a dent in those ambitions. It will be interesting to see how the rest of the off-season plays out in LA.

Same here, mostly visit the forums. Only in Discord for team LR but don't check on the VHL discord much. Should probably start to check in more often.

After training in the off-season back at home in Poland, Roger Eagles today made the flight back to LA to join the team for the start of their optional off-season training. Official training camp does not start for another few weeks but Roger always enjoys coming back early for the optional training. "It's great to be back here, and getting in some drills with some of the guys, still shaking off some of the jet lag as I landed this morning but its worth it for me to be here" Roger said " Building that chemistry early will help us this season as we look to get back into the playoffs" There was a few faces new and old and the optional training as the team looks to shake off some off-season rust and start getting ready to get back into game shape. The team ran some basic drills and have a few 3v3 scrimmages. Everyone seemed to be rested and recovered from the off-season and in good spirits. On his return to the locker room after the optional training he got an update that the team made a trade. Pombo was moved to Moscow for a season 97 first. At first it was a bit of a shock that a top 5 round pick who played very well in their rookie season would be moved but management reached out to the team to explain why the trade was made. " It's unfortunate as Pombo was great for us last season and we definitely were looking forward to having Pombo back for another season, I do appreciate the management speaking with us though and letting us know what the situation was." Roger continued "but sometimes that's hockey and I believe its always better to get something in return then lose something for free and that could have been a potential case next season. Wish them the best but I will definitely be trying extra hard against Moscow and especially anytime Pombo has the puck" Its a slight setback for the rebuilding team but Roger is still excited for the season to come. Roger was adamant at the end of last season that the team will be fighting for a playoff spot and he was saying the same words today. "One player doesn't make the team and we still have a fantastic group of players that want to be here and fight for this team" He said "We will see what the off-season brings in terms of any new players and we will continue down this rebuilding road. My goal for this team is still to make the playoffs this upcoming season, it will definitely be a challenging road but I have faith in the management and our team-mates to deliver a playoff season for our fans. They deserve it." Management and fans are expecting a lot more from the goaltender in his sophomore season and by the sounds of it Roger is expecting the same. Look for him to put in a stellar season and hopefully guide LA to the playoffs.

Even though he is currently doing off-season training in his home of Wroclaw, Poland, Roger Eagles will attend the Game 7 of the Continental cup finals between Toronto and Riga. Roger will be travelling with all the past Eagles players such as Greg, Tom and Henry as all the Eagles are currently at their facility to train and to help Roger get better for next season. The series has been a great battle. Riga took a commanding 3-1 lead but over the last two games they were unable to seal the final victory setting up an exciting game 7. " I told myself that if this goes to game 7 then I will do whatever it takes to make sure I'm in attendance" Roger said "It's been an entertaining series and has been a great battle so far. I look forward to the day when I can be involved in a series like this. I also look forward to spending some time with the Eagles family. We all deserve this little break as we have all been working extremely hard to prepare for next season." Riga is not too far from Wroclaw, about a 3 hour flight so Roger will not lose much training time. Roger has been known for not taking much time to himself when he trains but this was an occasion he could not pass up. "It's close by, I can go do my morning training. Fly over for the game and be back the next day and head back into training" Roger continued " This will not affect any of my training schedules but it will definitely help re-energize me as the end goal is to get Los Angeles to the final. I know a couple of my LA team-mates will be there and it will be good to catch up while watching some great hockey. I hope game 7 is a close affair and not a blowout. That would be the best ending to the series." When asked who was his favorite to win? " If it's not Los Angeles then it doesn't matter to me. Both teams have played really well this season and both deserve to win it in the end" Roger said " It will be a great storyline for any of them to win and I am sure it will make their fans happy although I am slightly leaning towards Riga just due to my thoughts on Toronto's goalie and his lack of putting in training with his team but just wanted to say good on him for helping his team reach the finals with limited amount of training" Roger is expected to stay in Wroclaw after the finals for another 2-3 weeks for training before flying back to Los Angeles and starting the teams pre-season training. The young goalie has been working hard and it is rumored he has significantly improved on his weak points from last season. It is still yet to be seen if this will improve his stats or if it will be enough to help LA get to the playoffs next season.

There have been plenty of rumbling around the league surrounding the Toronto goalie Toddly Boddly and his lack of training. It is rumored that Toddly doesnt participate in any trainings or workouts, no team meetings, doesn't review videos. He just shows up and plays. With the strength of the team in front of him, he has been racking up impressive stats during the regular season and also during his recent post-season play. We asked Roger on his thoughts. "I mean other goalies can do what they want, I feel training is an integral part of always getting better and building on chemistry with your team-mates" Roger said "Props to him for doing well without putting in the effort. I have heard rumours teams might now be interested in going after these type of goalies that don't train due to saving on cap space but all I have to say is watch the continental cup finals and it shows what a goalie that trains can do for you, that goalie has his team up 3-1 and the one that doesn't train has been struggling" It will be interesting to watch to see how things shake out after the goalie article caused a big stir within the VHL goalie community.

1) Riga takes a commanding 3-1 lead in the cup finals, do they have what it takes to win the final game? Why or Why not? 2) Toddly Bobbly (Toronto's goalie) has been the talk of the playoffs so far with his amazing performances but seems to be faltering in the finals, why do you think that is? 3) What job would you do if all jobs paid exactly the same?

Guess I should stop updating!

Roger Eagles made the long 12 hour flight from Los Angeles to Wroclaw in order to continue his training at the Eagles development and training center. Roger's goal is to not take any break in the off-season and continue with his training and development in order to improve on his rookie season. He was not happy with his stats in his first real test in the big leagues. He posted a .912 save percentage and a 3.37 goals against average. Roger being a perfectionist knew this was not good enough even though he is still a very young player on a young up and comming LA team. " Most people will say those are pretty average stats for a rookie but for me it's not good enough. I am not just an average goalie and I will always strive to be the best" Roger said "This is why I have decided to not take any time off and come home to train in our families facility. I have to improve and get better. If my stats next season are anywhere close to what I put up this year, then I will be very dissapointed" Roger knows that if LA is to take the next step in its pursuit to return to the playoffs and challenge for the cup, that he needs to be alot better. His main focus for his off-season training is going to be his reaction time and hand speed. "I know my reaction time and hand speed is already pretty good but I need to be the best. I need to ensure that heading into next season I have fully worked on these aspects and need to ensure that I limit the amount of goals that get by me "Roger continued "Last season my hand speed was too slow and half way through the season the other teams figured that out. Next season it will be a whole new game as I intend to ensure my hand speed is a lot quicker and that I react a lot quicker. Teams won't know what hit them" Skating and Agility will also be something Roger will look at training this off-season. While not as fully important as his main focus, it was also a noted downside in his game. Roger was never agile enough last season to make some critical stops and his training team have pin pointed a training schedule to improve his agility. They have also hired a world renown skating coach to help improve his side to side skating as well as to quicken his backwards skating. "It's a lot of hard work but I know it will be worth it in the end" Roger said "I have the best training staff available to me and training in one of the best facilities in the world. I can only get better and I am looking forward to showing the fans next season how much I have improved. I know these improvements will help us get a lot more wins next season"

Roger Eagles was shocked to hear the league he spent playing in last season will be folding and that the VHL will only have one minor league now with the VHLM where he only spent 17 games. "It was shocking to hear for sure but I know it is in the best interest of the league, the Eagles dynasty have storied history in the VHLE compared to the M so it will be missed" Roger says "It will be interesting to see how the VHLM now evolves with the influx of players and now higher skilled players being able to participate. We will see if this helps development or if other changes need to be made" The VHLE teams will all be folded and players will have the option to return to the VHLM team they played for or enter a dispersal draft. It will be a busy and interesting season playing out in the minor leagues next season and fans will be watching to see how it will all shake out. "I will miss playing in Rome, I think it was a great place for hockey" Roger continued "In the end I think its the best option as the E always had a lot of complaints and issues from players and fans"

1) In your opinion what has been the biggest upset in the VHL, VHLM or VHLE playoffs so far? 2) If your player could be sponsored by any company, what company would they be sponsored by and why? 3) What's the biggest "what if" in your mind?

Roger Eagles had an 8 game break as Los Angeles backup got a few starts in. This break along with continued practice and improvements should have helped Rodger return to the ice recharged and the thought was, to play better in the last few games of the season. The exact opposite has happened and Roger seems to be playing worse. In the last 2 games he posted under a .900 save percentage in each of those games. This setback has further pushed him from the Rookie of the year race and will lead to a lower then expected stat finish. "Sometimes that's just the way things go, few bad bounces here and there and next thing you know you have let in 4 or 5 goals in a game. That's just the life of a goalie "Roger said "These types of games just motivate me to get better, I did not meet any of my season goals but it's all a big learning experience. It will drive me to return better for next season" The Los Angeles Stars have two games left to go in the season and while they will not be in the playoffs they will still try to finish off the season by getting the final 2 wins. "We want to win the final 2 games and head into the off-season and next season with a couple of wins. We will fight hard and not just show up because we have to play the final 2 games " Roger continued "Many of you media guys have also asked me if I regret my decision coming to the VHL early instead of waiting an extra season and having a better chance at the rookie of the year, and I will give you my final answer here. That answer is No. If I had the chance to do it again I would take the same action. Playing up in the VHL early is an invaluable experience which will make me a stronger player heading into the future. No trophy is worth that experience" Currently with 2 games left to go Roger is sitting at a 18-37-6 record, .913 save % and a 3.34 GAA. The only stat that Roger was leading in at this point of the season was penalty minutes with 12 which did not help the team out in any way, shape or form. "I honestly don't know how I even managed 12 minutes, there has to be some sort of error there. " Roger said " I will definitely be looking at reducing those minutes next season, I honestly have to review the tapes and see what I was even called for as I just don't remember" With the season slowly starting to wind down, Roger will not be taking any rest as he aims to fly out back to Poland as soon as the season ends to continue training at the Eagles hi-tech training academy. The fans and even Roger himself expect to see a better showing from him next season. Things can only improve heading forward for the young up and coming goalie.

With Roger Eagles and LA out of the playoffs, the team is winding down for the final games and will be slowly preparing for next season. " I think it was a good season for us as a group, we have built a lot of chemistry here and we have the building blocks here as a young team to do something special in the next few seasons " Roger said " Many might look at us and deem our season a failure but I think differently. This was a accomplishment and we can only go up from here" Los Angeles will not be making the playoffs this season but the hope is that the young core has had enough time to gel and get better in order to compete over the next few seasons. The players and management team have faith in this group and with their play this season have also convinced the fans that this will be an exciting team to watch heading into next season. "Mark my words, we will surprise a lot of people next season" Roger continued " Let's just say I would be disappointed if at minimum we didn't get the wildcard spot"

1) Season is coming to an end, has your player reached their seasons goal? 2) What is your players favorite thing to do in the off-season? 3) Since Tomatoes are technically a fruit, is ketchup then considered a smoothie?

Fans have noticed that Roger Eagles has been on the bench the last few games as the backup goalie, LAS G2, takes over for the new few games. No need to worry as this is league mandate to have the teams backup play a minimum of 8 games per season. "It's actually good to be on the bench and observe the play of some of these teams from a different perspective, will help me learn and memorize certain players methods on how they play and shoot. Much better to see it live then on video" Roger said " LAS has also been playing pretty well to be honest. He even got a shutout a few nights ago. That guy definitely has some skill" While he is not starting any games for the next couple of weeks, Rogers training has been pushed into overdrive. He is the first on the ice in training and last off as he continues to improve and get better for the end of the season and future seasons for Los Angeles. " You always have to be training and working hard even if you're not playing any games. You can't rest and take time off or you will eventually start to drop off. That's not who I am" Roger continued " Every extra moment I can spent training and getting better, that's what I will do. My goal is to become the best in the league and to do that you have to put in the work. It doesn't come easy or naturally. You can be gifted but still without training you will not be the best" Lately Roger has been working on his speed and agility which was seen as a weak spot in his last few games. " It is something that I have noticed and has been pointed out to me and it is something I am addressing with training. I am hoping by my next start you will see a lot of improvement in those areas" Roger said " The coaches here have been great and I appreciate all the feedback. My side to side movement is much quicker now which will help me down the line. I have let in too many soft goals going from post to post and I can't keep having that." With the season starting to wind down and Los Angeles set to miss the playoffs, Roger described his off-season plans. "Most guys will take the time off, maybe go golfing but for me the work doesn't stop. I will be flying back to Poland and training in our families practice facility there" Roger stated " I will be reviewing video from the season, working out the kinks in my play and start working towards my next season goals. I expect our team to be much more competitive next season and maybe even challenging for that playoff spot. I am looking forward to the rest of this season to see what we can do but also already starting to look forward to what we can work to accomplish next season"

1) Thoughts on converting goalies to hybrid attributes aswell? Do you think it would be a good idea or bad idea? 2) Have you made a goalie in your VHL career so far? How did you like it? If no, are you interested in ever making one? 3) If you noticed an endangered animal eating an endangered plant, would would you do?

After starting the first 51 games of the season, Roger, will take a slight break from starting duties and let the backup start some of the next few games. "It's been a hectic start to the rookie season and I think its time for the backup to get some games in" Roger said " this will give me some time to recoup, rest my body and get back in there for the final few games of the season" Roger has had a decent season for a rookie going 16-31-4 with a goals against average of 3.28 and a save percentage of .916 but has fallen out of the rookie race after an initial good start to the season. He has also recorded 1 shut-out so far. "When the season started there was always a chance, I came into the VHL a season early so I knew it would be a tough task but a challenge I enjoyed " Roger said "My goal is to help the LA team back into the playoffs in the next few seasons so missing a rookie of the year trophy is not a big deal, its all about the team and helping us move forward"

Last night Roger Eagles celebrated a milestone in his VHL career by getting his first shutout. It took 42 games for the rookie to get his first and it came in last nights game vs the DC Dragons. DC put up 22 shots against the netminder but were unable to beat him. " It was a great team effort all around, anytime your defense plays as well as our guys did and limits the shot on net it will be a good day" Roger said "It's exciting to finally get the first one after what seems like such a long time, I am hoping for one or two more before the season ends and hopefully I can make that happen. I also received the game puck and it will be framed and put up in my office" Roger is looking to bounce back in the final half of the season after struggling with his play over the past few weeks. He is looking to get his stats back to more acceptable levels and more performances like the performance against DC will help him get back on track to achieve his personal goals.

Today we sit down with VHL Rookie Roger Eagles and discuss how his rookie campaign has been going and some other questions for the young goalie. R: Welcome to the show Roger, how has your rookie season been so far? RE: Thanks for having me! I think if I can call it anything then I will call it a rollercoaster ride. Things started out pretty well, had a few good games and things were looking great but over the last few games things have gone downhill. I have let in a couple of bad goals and stats have plummeted. It's been an interesting ride and there is a few more games left and hopefully we start going back uphill. R: Early in the season it seems like you were in the rookie race but now you seem to be out of it...what are your thoughts on that? RE: I don't think I am fully out of it yet but if my gameplay doesn't improve then I will have no chance. With this award anything can change in an instant, thats how close the race is. This last stretch has just been aweful for me in terms of gaining ground but I have 15 or so games left to turn it around. R: How has LA been so far? RE: It's a great city with a lot of Hollywood stars roaming around everywhere. I love it here and its a great place for a rookie to be. So much sports history in this city and you just live off it. The expectations to produce are high in this city and hopefully down the stretch I can be one of these all time LA greats. R: Knowing where you are now would you have changed your decision on playing in the VHL vs VHLE RE: No, this has been a great learning experience for me and something that I could not have learned in the VHLE. I think in the long run staying in the VHL will make me a better goaltender. Sure I could have achieved better stats in the E but that would not have improved me as a goaltender. In order to improve you need to face the best of the best. I believe it was the right choice but I guess we will need to wait and see how it all plays out. R: Where do you see this team in the next few years? RE: We have a solid group of talented young players. I think this will be a franchise team that can win a few continental cups over the next few seasons. We just need the time to develop. I can see us competing in the next 2 seasons and as a team we are all excited to make our way to that point. This season is just a bump in the road until we start realizing our contending goals. R: Thank you for your time Roger and we wish you the best in the rest of the season. RE: Thanks for having me and just a word to the LA fans. I know this season has been tough but stick with us, come out and support us and we promise you that success will come soon!

1) Theme week is here! Who do you think is the greatest rookie in VHL history? 2) Have you done a team initiation on any rookies currently on your team? What did you do? 3) If you didn't know your age, how old do you think you'd be?
