I would definitely be interested in the updater role. I have been very active since joining and am usually on the forums quite a bit. Would love to have more responsibility within VHL!
  3. Review: Wonderful Bio. Spaced out nicely and pictures are all centered which makes this biography flow really well. Great length. Nothing really to add to this except maybe just adding a title up top for the biography. Really well done bio!
  4. Review: Cutting it close on the word count but still a great bio! The pictures really help the biography along and that is great! My only recommendation would be to space out the long paragraph at the end. Well done!
  5. Review: Interesting Biography, I liked it. Especially the motivating words of his uncle while he was on his death bed. Good length as well. Not much to really to add to this one. Well done!
  6. Review: Great Bio, good length and is a nice piece to read to get to know Erik. Quotes were used which is always great. The only thing I might change is to center all the pictures, would make it a better flow. Well done!

  9. The start of the new season is shaping up to be an exciting one for Greg Eagles as he is set to start his first season as a starter. Wolves will be relying on Eagles to pickup where Kingfisher left off. Eagles played pretty well as the teams backup last season and will now have the opportunity to show if he is capable of being a starter. " It's exciting, this is what you dream of when you're a child, to be a starter" Said Eagles " Last year was very eye opening for me but I was able to learn alot from Kingfisher, I am hoping I can carry on the same type of gameplay. I have been working extremely hard in the off-season and I am hoping it shows" The Wolves will be looking to make it back to the finals for the 3rd season in a row. If this is to happen, Eagles will need to keep improving all season long. Many are thinking that Eagles will have to get off to a hot start in order for management to have faith in his abilities for the rest of the season. If he gets off to a cold start, the team may bring in a more experienced goaltender.

  12. VHL goaltenders always prepare for the unexpected and unpredictable, ready for pucks deflecting off sticks, bodies, feet or even a small divot in the ice that gets the puck past all the gear designed to help defend their net. The freaky, flukey or simply weird goals can be laughed off by goalies who know sometimes the puck just takes a funny bounce. The goals that eat away at a goalie though, are those he believes he could have stopped. That’s why this off-season, as Greg Eagles prepares to take the reigns of the starting role in Vancouver, has been training all summer on reaction time, tracking puck movement and how to counter those funny bounces. “It really sucks any time you give up a goal,” Eagles Said “Those kind of goals that take a weird bounce, there’s nothing really you could do except hope that it hits you and stays out of the net, most of the time it does but sometimes it doesn’t. But yeah, the ones that hurt the most as a goalie, it’s the ones that you feel like you should’ve had it.” Goaltenders have to be ready for the next skill moves trained up by the VHL top stars to put the puck over the line. Every season a few players have new tricks up their sleeves. “Maybe it’s the skill of the players finding that one spot,” Eagles Continued. “Most of the top players in the league are so sneaky in terms of what they want to do and what they don’t want to do. They put the puck in spots that catch you off guard. For example maybe they shoot in order to get a weird bounce, hit a guy’s shin pad or something like that and then it goes in. It has been happening more and more and I need to make sure I am better at stopping those.” Sometimes goalies get lucky, too. Last season during Greg’s final start of the season, he appeared to be losing his balance in the final period when the opposing team was handed a breakaway. Eagles put his glove down at the exact moment the opposing player tried to slip the puck between his legs. “You definitely get some flukey saves where you’re beat and a guy just hits you, I mean I tripped over a divot in the ice and still somehow made the save” Eagles said. “ These kind of things go both ways but it’s always better when luck is on your side” The Wolves goalie also recalls being on his goal line when the puck came up, rolled over the top of the net, hit the back of his mask and went in. “ At the end of the day it is all luck, we do our best to train for these situations but you just never know, we just have to always be at our best and be aware of where the puck is at all times “ Eagles said as we wrapped up the article. We now wait to see if Eagle’s off-season training has paid off as he looks forward to his first ever season as a starter in the VHL
  13. 1. So the preseason is almost over what was your favorite thing about this summer Having some time off to spend back home in Poland with the cup. It was a short summer for me as I spent a lot of my time off training for the upcoming season 3. Where do you think we stand starting this season? I think we are in a good position to make a run again. We have great depth and if our players continue training throughout the season then I see no big issues. 4. If you could get any free agent who would it be? Not sure who is available but would be nice to get a high scoring forward just to help ease with some of the players we lost that put up a high amount of points. 6. What role do you see yourself this season? I see myself starting out in the starting role this season. I think after a few games we will have to evaluate if that is a role I continue with or if we need to bring someone in for a cup run. 8. What kind of player are you going to try and be this season? I am going to be a supportive member of the team, no matter what role I play. I will be training like a starter whether I am or not. I just want to see the team do well 10. Which player do you see being an all-star this season? I think Rauno Palo for sure, he was amazing for us last season and he will be playing a big role now in trying to get us back in the cup. If things go well, I could also see Freeman getting there aswell!
  14. 1. So we just won the cup. How do you feel? Feels amazing being a part of a cup run. Everyone on the team deserved this win and I hope we can do it again next season 2. What do you think was the key to this run? I think solid gameplay from everyone on the team as well as players staying active and putting in training 5. What do you want to say to any Free Agents out there about why they should consider joining the wolf pack? I think every FA that wants a shot at the cup should consider joining Vancouver. We have a very active locker room and our players are always putting in the work to get better. 6. What are you going to do with your day with the cup? I will be taking it home to Poland and trying to make hockey more popular there. 7. Two finals appearances in two years what do you think our chances of making it three in a row? It will be tough with some of the retirement/trades but I think we have one of the more active groups in the league so we should be a challenger for another year 10. What are you going to do to make yourself a better player for next season? Going to hit the training rinks early and make sure that I am ready to go for the upcoming season whether it is in a backup role or full time role. I am always striving to make myself better.
  15. It was a day to remember in downtown Vancouver today as the Wolves took part in the Continental Cup championship parade. Greg Eagles was seen drinking and partying with his team-mates during the parade and almost fell off the double decker bus. " It is just a great feeling and im celebrating. It's rare for a rookie to win in their first season and im just enjoying my time here with my team-mates and fans" Said Eagles " I hope we can repeat next season as this is probably the best feeling in the world" Eagles was seen interacting with fans by tossing beach balls into the crowd, tossing signed Wolves gear and posing for pictures. ] Thousands of fans lined the street to celebrate as this is the first major championship to ever come to Vancouver. No other Vancouver team has won any major titles. Fans were going crazy in the street while dancing and celebrating with their favorite Wolves players. The mayor of Vancouver announced that today is National Wolves day and the team also received a key to the city for their outstanding achievement.
  16. As a fan of Vancouver you are still probably thinking of all the things that went right in the very entertaining and unforgettable Game 6 win of the VHL Finals. The Vancouver Wolves for the first time clinched the VHL trophy and are the VHL Champions in the 67th season. The city of Vancouver broke out in celebrations and are hoping the team can go for another cup run in the upcoming season. But as members of the Wolves celebrated and then cleaned out their lockers today, leaving too are the remaining traces of a hard fought season and postseason. With that closure of winning comes a turn of focus towards the future. The team finally got their hands on VHL’s Holy Grail this season, but what do their chances moving forward look like? Can Vancouver repeat or has their window finally shut? Well, if you ask their fans they’ll tell you the club’s chances of winning it all are still pretty good for Season 68. Many fans are still wearing rose coloured glasses and maybe nursing hangover from the victory and will of course believe that the Wolves can do this all over again next season. History, on the other hand, doesn’t really side with Vancouver. It is rare to see teams win back to back VHL Cups let alone making the finals 3 years in a row (something Vancouver will need to do next year if they want to defend the cup) This speaks to just how grueling the playoffs can be and the lasting effects that come with it. The depth of the roster will take a major hit entering the next season. With Beau Louth retiring and Shawn Glade being traded this creates a big defensive and offense hole to fill. Combined Louth and Glade earned 168 points in the regular season and 46 points in the playoffs. This will be hard to replace and the Wolves may not have anyone on the roster as of right now to make up for those lost points. Will Micheal Gary Scott, Shawnomir Jagr or Brock Louth be able to make up the slack? We do not know and if Vancouver plan on making another run, these 3 will need to do what they can to fill in the gaps. It is not yet known if the Wolves will try to compete next season or go all in for a rebuild. Lastly, one has to worry about age starting to set in soon as well. It’s not like players such as Rauno Palo and Ismond Kingfisher are way past their prime, but they’re no longer budding talents and might be on their final 1-2 seasons in the VHL. If signs of aging occur, which would not be completely shocking after a draining postseason, there’s no question that could hinder the Wolves next season on their quest to a repeat. If these players start showing their age early in the season will the Wolves think about trading them for assets or will the Wolves keep them for their experience? All things considered, the road back to the Final will not be easy for Vancouver. History, player movement, and player age will all be working against the club in the 68th season. However, navigating through the VHL’s regular season and playoffs is hardly ever a walk in the park. It will be up to the Wolves to demonstrate just how strong their resolve is when the league opens back up later in the year for another entertaining season.
  17. WOOO winners! Amazing season!
  18. The Wolves are back in the finals for a second consecutive year and Greg Eagles couldn't be happier Vancouver beat the Legion 4 games to 1 which surprised many people. The series was expected to be much closer as Toronto dominated all season. The series came down to a goalie duel except for a one-off lopsided loss to Vancouver. " It's been a great atmosphere in the locker room and in the city, fans are going crazy because they know that we have a very good shot of winning it all this year" Eagles said " This has also been a great experience for myself as a rookie, i'm just taking it all in and trying to learn what I can from it" Now Vancouver will have a finals rematch with Helsinki. “ I believe we can win, we are very optimistic and I think we really picked up our game in the second half of the season and into the playoffs” Said Eagles “ We have came up with some plays especially for them, so we shall see if they work!”
  19. only needed 55 shots to get the win lol!
  20. Some questions for everyone 1) Vancouver just upset Toronto in 5 games, how are you feeling after that amazing series win? 2) Another rematch in the finals with Helsinki, do you think this is the year Vancouver can take it all? 3) What does the team have to do to beat Helsinki? 4) Do you do anything differently to prepare for a cup final? 5) Which player has the most to prove in this series? 6) If we win the Cup, where would you take it on your 1 day with the cup? 7) How would the fans react if we win our first cup? 8 ) Who do you think will win the Playoff MVP? 9) Are you feeling any pressure heading into this series? 10) Kingfisher is having a great playoffs so far, can he keep up his hot play in the finals?
  21. Helsinki Vancouver Vancouver 4-3 Vancouver Points: Beau Louth Goals: Rauno Palo Assists: Beau Louth PIMs: Sidney Crosby Series winner: Shawn Glade
