  1. It has been more then halfway of the season and Henry Eagles is not looking like himself in the goal scoring category. With 46 games played, Henry sits at 25 goals, 7 behind the league leader Ronan Levelle, and 2 behind the #10 spot. "My goal has been to get in the top 3 in goals in the league this year but I just haven't been putting them in when I have the chances" Henry said "With so many great players on the team, if you miss your chance someone will come in and finish that mistake, at least it is giving me some assists" Stat wise it also seems like Eagles is shooting a lot less this year, with only 289 shots so far this year and only 26 games left. Last season he put up 523 shots which netted him a career high of 42 goals. It doesn't seem like Henry will catch the scoring leader or match his all time high from last season but you never know, a few strings of 2 or 3 goals game can get him back on track, but with the ways things are looking now it seems like he will be more then likely to set a new career high in assists instead.
  2. Interesting theme week topic and for me personally I wouldn't change to much. I think the VHL is a top notch league. There is one item though which I would as commissioner open up for discussion and try to address and that is the graphics 6tpe point task. For Media Posts and Podcasts; this usually requires effort to put together and get your 6 tpe. Media is 500+ words and podcasts you have to take the time to record, speak about your chosen topic and then upload that podcast somewhere for everyone to listen. These tasks in my mind are worth the 6tpe. Now taking a look at the graphic point task on the other hand, some of the posts and graphics that people are claiming for 6 points are very questionable if they deserve 6tpe. I won't mention names but anyone can go and have a look for themselves. Some of these "graphics" are just screenshots with arrows on them, some are very low effort copy and paste paint graphics and so on. I don't check the graphics tpe forum out much but scrolled through it today, went back quite a few pages and saw a lot of these types of posts. Now there may be a few low effort media posts but they are rare and even low effort 500+ media posts still take more effort then some of the graphics being posted. Now, don't get me wrong, their are some users who produce some great graphics and fully deserve the 6. You can tell some users put in time and effort into creating these. That brings up the question; why would anyone waste time on media posts (my preferred 6tpe task) or podcast when you can just whip out low effort, low quality screenshots or paint graphics and get the full 6 tpe? I believe this needs to be revisited and that would be what I would look into as commish for the day. I would work on re-evaluating how TPE is assigned for graphics. Low quality graphics where you can definitely see no effort was made whatsoever should only be given 1-2 TPE, similar to VHL.COM articles or press conferences. High quality graphics that look like they took time and effort should get the 6 full points. How would the graphics be evaluated? I believe their used to be graders in the past which could be an option to bring back. Offer 2 tpe for grader work in the graphics section. The second option is have the updaters evaluate. The updaters have to click and check the links anyways (or I hope that they do) and they can quickly tell if a graphic if high or low effort and assign TPE correctly. The second option would be the most easiest but at the same time it may add extra work load to the updaters who may not have the time/availability to add that to their schedule. This may not be a popular option for some of those that are getting the quick TPE but it would bring parity to all the other 6tpe point tasks. I believe for 6tpe there should be some sort of effort put into the task. While the above would be my biggest issue to tackle being commish for a day, I would also look to brainstorm potential more tasks that could be done for 2 or 6tpe. I don't have ideas at the moment but that is what I would focus on in my last few hours.
  3. Henry Eagles continues to plug away in his 5th season with Vancouver. Currently Henry sits at 41 points in 33 games played with 15 goals and 26 assists. Scoring seems to be slightly lower then what is usually expected of Henry but with the offensive talent on the team the scoring is being spread around. "We have so many great players on the team that can score so it just has been easier to pass the puck to them" Henry said "I am not worried about my scoring, I am still contributing when needed but right now Nico and Oreo have the scoring touches with Nico at 21 goals and Oreo at 20. You just give them the puck and its almost a guaranteed point" Henry is also just outside the top 10 in the Points, Goals and Assists categories but expects to finish in the top 10 when the season ends. "I am just on the fringe of the top 10 but that's ok, there is still a lot of hockey left and my expectation is I will be top 10 in all those categories by the end of the season, I do have to pick up on my hits though as I have been slacking compared to last year" Henry finished.
  4. While this happened at the start of the season, many news media did not pick up the story until now but it has been rumored and now confirmed that Henry Eagles gave up his A to give to Nico Pearce. "It's true, as soon as I found out we traded for Nico, I offered up my letter to him right away" Henry says "he deserves it, he has had a great career and it would be amazing for him to win the cup with us and with a letter on his shirt. He was our old captain and I wouldn't have felt right heading into the season if he didn't have a letter" The move was seen as a positive throughout the Wolves team and the fan base. It also seemed to motivate the team as they currently sit in 3rd place in the NA conference. " To me the main goal this season is to get Pearce that cup and for him to do it with Vancouver would be amazing" Henry continued "the team is doing everything we can to get into the playoffs and then go on a long run. We have a solid team on paper and should be the favorites to win...we need to win for Nico. He deserves it"

  7. Review: I like this type of media spots as it lets you ask some creative questions and then answer them which helps those who read media spots get to know your player a little bit more and outside of hockey. The numbering was a little weird though and just not sure if that was formatting or intended? Question had 1, answer had 2 but then question two also had the number 2. Would also been good to maybe add a picture and separate question and answer by color text. Other then that it was a great piece to get to know your player better 8/10
  8. Henry Eagles started off with a bang into the new season as he scored a hat-trick in his first game into the season. Even though he notched 3 goals the Wolves still lost 6-5 as London managed to scored 5 unanswered goals in the 1st period. The comeback was close but it was not enough. "Feel's great to be back on the ice and scoring goals" Henry said "it sucks losing and we had some rust to shake off at the beginning but once we found our legs and started playing hockey we looked good. I mean we were down 5-0 after the first and we fought back. Yeah we still lost 6-5 but im proud of the teams and our guys for not giving up!" After 5 games so far this season, Henry has 3 goals and 5 assists for 8 points. Looks like Henry is off to a good start and if he can continue this pace, the Wolves should have no problem making the playoffs. The Wolves sit at 4-1 with the London game only being there loss so far.

  10. Henry Eagles got the call at the beginning of the week that he was selected to represent team Easter Europe. This will be the first time in his career that he has been called up to the world cup, only having played in the world junior championships before then. "It's always an honor being called up and representing a region in Europe where I came from. "Henry said "I think Eastern Europe has a wealth of top players and this tournament gives us the opportunity to showcase what we are all about. These are one of the few teams where multiple countries come and work together to achieve a common goal, that goal for is is Gold" Henry is hoping that the world cup tournament gives him a boost in the upcomming VHL season. With being able to get on the ice and compete against top talent before the season starts, he will not have any rush to shakeoff versus players who may have not trained or participated in the world cup. "It definitely gives you a leg up in terms of getting yourself up to speed on the quickness of the play and your shot " Henry continued " I can't wait to try and win gold and then head back to Vancouver and win the cup!"
  11. If the World Cup is anything to go by, then it looks like Henry Eagles will be a force to be reckoned with this season. 4 games into the World Cup with his Eastern Europe team, Henry, sits with 6 goals and 3 assists for a total of 9 points. He was named #1 star in the tournament this week and leads the tournament in goals scored and points. He also after 4 games has an insane shooting percentage of 33.33% by scoring 6 in 18 shots. It seems like his off-season work on his shot has paid off. This is also the first time Henry is playing in the world cup and representing Eastern Europe on the big stage. In game 1, Eastern Europe faced off against Team USA and came out on top 4-2. EE put up 49 shots in the game and showed early that they will be a force to be reckoned with. The first game was Henry's worst game of the tournament as he only notched 1 goal. In game 2 Eastern Europe once again faced off against the USA and it was a much closer game this time around with EE squeaking by with a 4-3 win. Henry Eagles showed up to this game as he put up 3 points. He got the game winning goal with 1:05 minutes left in the game and also helped out with 2 assists for a total of 3 points. Game 3 saw Eastern Europe face Team Canada and it was another close one. EE edged out Canada 3-2. Eagles led the team with 2 goals as he continued his hot scoring pace. In the last game of this week Eastern Europe faced off against Team Nordic and Won 4-3 in the shootout. Eagles put up another 2 goals and also added a helper to finish this game with 3 points. "Things have been going great but I couldn't have put up numbers like these without my team-mates" Henry continued "now the goal is to continue playing at this pace and help our team win a gold medal. We have a very strong team and we all believe that we can win the gold. We are off to a 4-0 start which has been amazing" Eastern Europe is also off to a hot start and are the early favorites for the tournament. They are currently the only team at this time of writing who are undefeated. If Henry can continue this pace we see no reason why Eastern Europe can't win the gold at the end of this tournament. Alot of their games have been 1 goal wins, so going forward they will have to find ways to build on their leads as in hockey, luck can go any way. This showing by Henry is also good news for Vancouver who are expecting big things from their star player and to build on his last season. Many are predicting and even Henry himself has set this as his goal of notching 50 goals in the VHL this season.

    s89

Henry has set his goals for S89 and they will be slightly lower then what he expected in S88 "This season I am keeping my expectations in check and setting goals to something more reasonable" Henry said " This upcoming season I will go for the double 45's. 45 goals and 45 assists for a total of 90 points. I think this is very doable and it all honesty I think I will exceed it" Last season Henry finished with 42 goals and 45 assists for 87 points which was close to his new targets but some way off his last seasons target which was 50 and 50 for 100 points. "While I am still aiming for those individual awards, this season I want to focus more on getting us back to the cup. Wolves deserve another one and one for my career just won't cut it. So I guess you can throw that in as a third goal" Henry continued " While I will keep on shooting as much as possible, I will try to involve my team-mates more as well. I don't know who my line mates will be yet but we have a very solid offensive team so I will be happy to play with anyone"
  13. The season may have already ended for Henry Eagles and the Wolves but the player who will be entering his 5th season in the VHL has already started working towards getting better for next season. "My training never stops, I barely take any time off in the off-season as I want to ensure I keep getting better" Henry says "and with the 5th season being my last before this old age regression thing kicks in, I need to ensure I am training as much as I can to counter-act that" The Wolves will have an interesting off-season and season ahead as the team needs to decide if they can compete with the core they have or if they will need to rebuild "If I was in Management, I would say that we still have the team to win it. With a key off-season signing and maybe a trade or two we can be back in the playoff next season" Henry says "But I am not management and once they are ready they will let us players know. I have full faith in the management team in whatever way they go and am excited to see how that plays out. Either way it should be a great off-season for the Wolves"
  14. The S85 first overall pick has not had the career he has envisioned but in the grand scheme of things it has been a rewarding and productive career, with potentially 5 more seasons to go before he retires, we can look back on his current career and see how Henry has fared. By this time, Henry, would have thought he would have won some sort of individual award, break the 50 goal mark or the 100 point mark. As of today, this has not yet happened. His best season to date has been his finished 4th season where he put up 42 goals and 45 assists for 87 points. Not bad but for Henry that is an underperformance. As a first overall pick he always excepted better of himself. His first goal was to win the rookie of the year but he didn't even come close in the votes. Not even top 10 as he struggled during his first season. His second season didn't go much better either and he only really started showing his true potential in his 3rd and 4th seasons. The only Award he has to his name is winning the Continental Cup is Season 86. It was a big achievement but as a first overall pick Henry always expects more. He is also the type of player that won't give up on his goals and will strive to achieve them before he hands the skates up for good. "I have a few more years to go in this league before I have to retire and I still have time to reach all my goals" Henry said "I know it will be harder as I get older but I want to win some of those individual awards and I want to break that 50 goal and 100 point mark. I got close but close is not good enough" When asked if he would do anything differently or if he had any regrets, Henry did not think so. "I couldn't have asked for anything better, I got drafted to a top tier organization in Vancouver, we won the cup together and I intend to spend the rest of my career here" Henry said " Would I have changed anything? I don't think so and definitely no regrets. If anything maybe practice more in the off-season and focused more on scoring versus focusing more on being a two-way player but all in all I am still happy with how things turned out and hopefully I can only get better going forward"
  15. After a reverse sweep of LA, the Vancouver Wolves were feeling good heading into the series against Seattle. The series started off ok as the Wolves were tied 2-2 after the first 4 games. The last two games were a different story though, even though the Wolves goalie, Fuhr put up 2 great performances with 50+ saves in each game, the Wolves were unable to win any more games and were eliminated out of the playoffs. "It's unfortunate, we played really well against Seattle and one bounce the other way and the win would have gone our way" Henry says "but that's hockey for you, you need to have a little luck on your side. We will now just have to look at how we can get better and focus on another run next season" Henry will be staying in Vancouver this off-season to start early off-season training in the hopes of improving even more as he reaches the middle years of his career. These middle years are the most pivotal to do off-season training as regression will slowly start to kick in once a player reaches their 6th season. "When you get older, you slow down a little bit" Henry says "but if you keep up with training it really shouldn't affect you too much"
