Chip Stone and the Cologne Express were recently eliminated from the VHLE Playoffs. We caught up with Chip to get his thoughts:
 
What are your thoughts on being eliminated in four games?
 
Yeah, I dunno. I thought we, as a team, played well. Look at the scores. The games were close. We tried everything we could. We just went to overtime three times and we couldn't get it done. It was closer than it looks on paper, that's all I'll say.
 
What are you focused on now that you and Cologne have been eliminated?
 
I'm training for my VHL debut now. Just a lot of stick-handling practice and a little bit if skating just to stay well-conditioned. I really want to make a splash in Seattle, so I've got to be ready. 
 
Are you planning on keeping in contact with any of your teammates on Cologne?
 
Ya know, I wish em the best. I do. Barzy was great, all of the dudes there were super nice. I'm sure I'll see a few of them next season in the VHL, so absolutely. But the ones that are staying in Europe for their career? I dunno. We'll see. We'll probably only get a chance to hang out and talk if I ever vacation in Europe.
 
What's one aspect of your game you think you need to improve after getting swept?
 
Everything. I barely made any room for myself. I didn't have but two points. I need to change that for my debut.

Nurx, I know recently they started up a writing tournament like what I did with my podcast tournament which I was meant to revive by now but it could just be another peter out @dasboot. But Nurx is also part of the VSN so maybe they are doing a write up on the best rookies in the league at the moment and that could potentially explain the snooping.
 
Masu Chan is the GM of the Reapers who I know AGM. Even though I have been pretty hands off as they have the team fully under control in my opinion. I am assuming that the looking into my profile is a response to me being interested in AGMing. I am thinking that it was too look for incriminating posts, as they wouldn’t want someone who is a racist on their management team.
 
Eaglesfan, this one I can almost guarantee (if there was a game at the time) was some sort of meta bullshit in a Town of Salem game. Surely they were looking into when I was last online for a reason to pick me off as a non-poster in the ToS game that we played recently. They are too bloody good at ToS and it seems like nothing will stand in the way of them winning.
 
Hooperorama they last visited the site on 15 July and visited my profile on the same day. Maybe they absolutely hate my guts and were seeing if I was still apart of the league. When they found out that I am still frequently here they rage quit and threw their PC out the window in frustration. Occam’s razor would assume that this is the only trusth.
 
Finally, Brandon, I realise that they were doing some snooping around of their competitors for the Rookie of the Year award. Somehow Soggard Brandon’s player hit a PPG in their rookie season, but surely that is easier when you play on Moscow instead of a pleb team like LA.
 
One last note I would like to throw out a shout out to the best non-player member in the league @Ptyrell, they set up a really cool pokemon forum game. I think there are a lot of members in the league who would be kicking themselves that they missed out on such a treat. On the topic of the Town of Pallet, how is @omgitshim so bloody good at any game they touch, it upsets me that they always seem to have everything under control.

Bratislava going into playoffs

 
Bratislava is going to the playoffs, woohoo! Alright, it is probably not a huge surprise to anyone but I am pretty confident in saying that I never doubted our chances to get in this season, to me, we are at the top of the VHLE and without a doubt one of the main favourites for cup victory. As defending champions however, it is going to be a bit different this time around. I am not going to lie to anyone but the last off-season was a place for tough decisions for me and the Bratislava crew as I didn’t really know if we as a team, before the FA could be a true championship calibre team. Even my trusty AGM Leadro would say that we weren’t in the best possible place, our roster had huge holes, it felt like building through trades would have been a death sentence for the next few seasons for our squad. FA changed it all, we had some amazing luck in acquiring some truly breathtaking players and filling up our roster to a point when we are running three full forward lines with five defencemen playing. 
 
The season was truly amazing. We had some brilliant returning players - VHLE Legend in the making, our goaltender Orion D H Chiester IX, wonderful and impressively dominant Harry Hagel, unbelievable forward talents in both Sock Monkey, Gus Bentley and Jack Haxtall. Our 1st round draftee Fraser Wallace has been magnificent. I can’t express my excitement for this man to go and play in VHL next season - I am pretty sure he is going to become a name we will fairly often see at the top of the leaderboards. Our depth has kept this team together and made sure that we are right up there with other top contenders, heck, we finished the season 2nd in the Standings and were just a few points away from claiming that 1st place. Nonetheless right now, I am sure that every player on our roster has only one thing in their mind - taking every single playoff game step by step. 
 
Am I worried? Yes. Am I confident in my team? Also, yes. I have seen how great Istanbul has been playing, I am sure that Cologne’s roster is built to win, Vasteras has been playing really well, we have a good group of teams going into the playoffs, all of which could go and dominate every single series, any team. That said, my confidence in my team comes from a simple point - I believe we can reset, learn from our mistakes this regular season and adjust our lines to play well against the teams we are facing. We have a really good roster, with players having different builds, variations, mindsets and motivations. Talking about motivation - what  better motivation can you think of going into playoffs than a chance for most of them to prove that they are ready to go and compete on the highest level of hockey next season. 
 
I am excited, confident and a bit worried as I think that this is one of the best teams I have managed to assemble. We have character, we have the ability, now we just need a bit of luck too!

We're back, and we've got a lot to say! It's good to be back with my brother @DarkSpyro once again. We remember the good times, the bad times, and the future times!

i finally got my first goals in the league got 4 in a game lol.

The Seattle Bears have secured 2nd place in the NA conference, and still have a chance (a low chance) at taking first place after tonight's sims. We have been a strong team all season after making some big moves in the off-season to free cap space. I really did not know how we would shape up after losing Detroit and Chara, but we have held our own and sit comfortably heading into the playoffs. The big question is though, can Seattle go back to back?
 
In STHS the answer seems to always be maybe. This sim engine can bless you or destroy you whenever it feels like it. I would say the sim engine has been blessing us so far, but it helps to have the talented roster that Seattle has built for S84. Starting with our goaltender, Dusty Wilson. Wilson has been in the system for the Bears for three seasons, drafted at 44th overall in the S82 draft, he has been working his way up to the VHL while struggling to find his way in the minors. He never really had a solid starting position until now and in his rookie season, where he holds a 39-18-5 record with a 0.924 SV%. I would say for a 500 TPE goaltender in his first season, that's pretty damn good. Wilson is now earning 10+ TPE each week and should be Seattle's main guy for a while.
 
For our defence I have to guess we have one of the main cores in the league. Hogan, Steve, Bana, and newly acquired Spyro, all with great builds. Spyro did retire recently at 435 TPA, but the other three defenders can pull his weight for sure. Torq has the least amount of points of the three with 59 in 70 games, amazing for defence. They are great for shot blocking and hitting as well and overall protect our blue line and goaltender to standards.
 
For the forwards now. Like I said earlier I did not know what losing Detroit and Chara would do for us, but apparently we are doing pretty alright without them. Jonathan Ori was picked up this season and seems to be our best playmaker with 56 assists, leading our team. Bushtit was also acquired this season, but is in his earlier stages of his career, so not much has been done except development. The stat I enjoy the most about this team is that we have four forwards with 30+ goals. I am pretty sure there are only four other teams who have done the same. So it is really cool to see that we have a diverse group when it comes to goal scoring.
 
So that is the team but how do we stack up against the league. So we are 2nd in NA and 3rd in the league. We do have a couple losing records this season and unfortunately they are all against top ranked teams:
 
1st. Moscow: 1-3-0
2nd. DC: 1-4-0
4th. Helsinki: 1-3-0
5th. Warsaw: 1-2-1
 
Having losing records against all of the top 5 teams does not bring you confidence I will tell you that! But in the end I have the trust in Bana and the team he has built. We have what we need to win, and playoffs are a whole different story, anything can happen.
