Not bad eh? @MetalToday congrats man! super proud and happy to have my jersey retired! It was so much fun to be apart of such a close team and to go from contenders to champions. Couldn’t have asked for a better team and better management!  Happy i get the chance to have another jersey retired with my new player so watch out for that;)

thanks to @dlamb for drafting us and giving us the opportunity to grow and become the Warsaw greats we are today

thank you to @N0HBDY for letting old man Kisslinger stay around for the final bit of his career and keeping the roster as competitive as we could around him and marner!

MetalToday reacted to KRZY in S88 World Cup team Canada preview
Well the time has come and the S88 World Cup is getting underway with teams being named I’ve the next few days . Let’s take a look at Team Canada.

we’ll start off with the Forward group they will be running with .

    Molly The Cat
Coming off a solid season in London where the United win the Continental Cup , Molly will look to build off that and help Canada in their quest to win a Gold medal . Molly is a top player in the VHL and a very respected member of the community look out for him to have a big Tournament in what is his first kick at the cat on the World Cup stage.

    Brendan Marner
The long time Veteran finished his final VHL season 2nd in goals and points overall . This will be Marners 3rd time wearing the maple leaf . Marner will be looked at to lead the forward core this year and relied upon as a leader in the locker room . Marner is a big time power forward and a big time player hungry to go out on top with a gold medal !

    Hulk Hogan 2
Hogan is another Veteran returning for his 3rd World Cup , the Big forward will be counted on to set the tone physically along with setting the offensive tone , Like Marner Hogan is looking to finish his third tournament on top with a Gold medal.

    Alexandre Leduc
The ever elusive Leduc is looking to provide speed and spark , Leduc is part of the group returning for their 3rd World Cup . The speedy winger will be a valuable asset up front for the Canadian team .

    Mason Jones
Jones is making his World Cup debut after years of just missing the cut . You can bet he’s looking to prove that the management made the right choice in giving him a chance to wear the maple leaf before he retires.

    Todd Cooke
The young Forward is looking to continue his climb and ascent to establish himself as an elite forward . Cooke has worked towards playing in this tournament since his rookie season . Cooke joins a VERY talented Forward group and is coming off a career best season with the LA Stars .

This forward group is among the best in the Tournament and is sure to be high powered. Any line combinations they choose to run will be offensively gifted and physical .

let’s look at the Defence now !

    Pierre Emile Bouchard
Bouchard is one of the Best defenders of not the best defender in the VHL and will be a huge contributor and leader on the back end for team Canada. This will be his second time representing team Canada in this tournament.

    AirRig GoodBrandSon
The Veteran defenceman will join Bouchard on Canadas top pair and provide a two way presence much like Bouchard. GoodBrandSon is a very good Puck Mover like Bouchard these 2 well be relied upon as the only returning defenders on the team .

    Doug Matchett
Matchett gets the call on the backend as well. Matchett is a long time Veteran in the VHL and is playing in his 1st World Cup . The smaller speedy defender will bring a good 2 way defensive game to the table and look to make a positive impact to help the team on their journey to try to win a gold medal.

    Rex Wolfe Gregor
Rex is the youngest member of team Canada and will look to bring that youthful enthusiasm to the team. After setting career highs in his Sophmore season with Malmo he will take this tournament as an opportunity to build on that as well as establish himself as a real up and comer in years to come .

The D core is very veteran heavy with a sprinkle of youth , I believe that youth and enthusiasm will separate Canadas defence from other teams !

Last but not least the Goalies

    Brandt Fuhr
Fuhr is first on our returning goalie tandem this year . He will carry the bulk of the load as the 1A option . Fuhr has big game experience and will have to bring that into the tournament for team Canada . He’s been successful in the VHL can that transfer to the World stage ?

    Augustus Kennedy
The second Goalie in this Tandem and returning duo. Kennedy is just looking for the chance to breakthrough and really establish himself and take that next step as a goalie. He’s always been steady in the crease but this tournament is where we could see him take the next step and start to separate himself from all the other tendies in the league.

Overall Both of these Goalies give Canada a chance to win every game and the team can be comfortable going into any game .

Team Canada overall is built to win this tournament they are strong at every position . And have no real weaknesses all around , this team is exciting they can skate they can hit they can score . This team will be exciting and a team to watch in the World Cup this season .

MetalToday reacted to Thunder in Thunder is Puzzled/Or Thunder’s Puzzle - You Choose!
Why is it taking longer and longer each week to come up with something to write about for the required 6 tpe?  It’s not like anyone reads this shit I write anyway.  Doesn’t matter.  When I joined this league I decided early on that I wanted to get as many TPE I could.  As the seasons go by, its getting more difficult to achieve that goal.

Well… I’m gonna try something new.  Partly because I’ve run out of shit to write about, and the other part is those damn trivia questions are tough sometimes.  Therefore, I’m turning the table and giving you an opportunity to solve something without getting any tpe for it!  This is a puzzle and in order to solve it, you have to actually read it to come up with the correct responses.  Now, I know @Scurvy won’t be reading it because he doesn’t want to!  And @ScottyP won’t try because as scurvy says at least 5 times a day, “that boy’s dumb.”  So here goes.  And remember, I’m only doing this for the tpe and you dont get anything for solving the puzzle!  Also, the names selected were at random as I was looking at the list and selected simple names to type.

    Puzzle #1

Recently a VHL hockey game took place, (you won’t find the game, I’m making it up.).  During the game, there are four players who are known for certain penalties.  The penalties these players are famous for are:

    Slashing
    Boarding
    Roughing
    Diving

The four players are:  Jacob Stone, @scoop; Ronan Lavelle, @Arce; Nico Pearce, @Spartan ; and Jimi Jaks, @kelvi  Each player spent either 2 minutes, 4 minutes, 6 minutes, or 10 minutes in the box.

Using the clues listed below, you have to determine which player got called for which penalty and how many minutes that player spent in the penalty box.  Yes, I realize this is an easily solved puzzle but right now my brain is fried and my interest level in typing something up to earn TPE is at an all time low so I’m giving this a shot.  if you feel like solving it, go ahead!  Given how easy it is, I expect it to take less than 5 minutes, well… unless you’re Rip Wheeler!

1.Nico Pearce, is an undisciplined player and he did not get 2 minutes or for 4 minutes of penalties during the game.  He got more!

    2.  Someone was a slasher and spent a total of 6 minutes in the penalty time during the game.

    3.  Jacob Stone and Nico Pearce each got more than 2 minutes of penalty time.  Further, the player who got only 2 minutes of penalty time didnt get called for boarding.

    4.  Someone is known for diving, and that player spent 4 minutes in the box.  By the way, it’s not Nico Pearce, but you already knew that!

    5.  Ronan Lavelle, the most undisciplined player in the game, spent 10 minutes in the penalty box, for what?  You figure it out!

Those are all the clues you need to solve the puzzle.  Now, if you thought that was painfully easy, or just plain painful, and you want to suffer through another twisted mind game from Thunder, then keep reading, because there is more!  I have to keep typing in order to get 1000 words so I can claim for two weeks instead of one week.

This second puzzle is a little more involved and includes goalies.  It’s up to you if you want to try to get it right.  And of course, its all made up so don’t take offense if your player didnt perform as well as you think they should.

    Puzzle #2

This puzzle involves four skaters against four goalies.  The object for you is to determine who faced off against which goalie, how many goals each player scored, and how many shots each player took.  Below is everything you need to know to solve it.

    Skaters:

    Brendan Marner @MetalToday
    The Frenchman @OrbitingDeath
    Oreo McFleury @JB123
    Pete Mitchell @Crstats23

    Goalies:

    Lachlan Summers @kirbithan
    Jesse Teno @aimkin
    Alexander Minion @UnknownMinion
    Art Vandelay @Gustav

Here are all the clues you need to know to figure out how many goals each skater scored and how many shots each skater took against which goalie.  To make it simple, your choices of goals are 1, 2, 3, 4, and your choices of shots taken are 5, 7, 10, 15.

     1.  Brendan Marner did not shoot against Lachlan Summers and did not score 4 goals.

    2.  Oreo McFleury did not take the most shots.

    3.  The skater who shot against Lachlan Summers took more than 5 shots.

    4.  Art Vandelay allowed 2 goals, and the skater who scored those goals took more than 7 shots against Art Vandelay.

    5.  Jesse Teno allowed 3 goals, and she did not get shot at 10 times.

    6.   Pete Mitchell took only 5 shots and did not score 3 goals.  Not only that, he did not face off against Lachlan Summers nor Art Vandelay.

    7.  The skater who shot against Art Vandelay, the skater who took 15 shots, and Brendan Marner, scored either 2 goals, 3 goals, or 4 goals.

If you do solve the puzzles, feel free to reply to this thread with your answers and I will verify your accuracy with two thumbs up!  I’m not skilled enough to have a hidden answer sheet, or a button to click to confirm your correct score either.  The only thing I can tell you is that I have followed the clues provided and I have been able to get the right answers!  Now, only scurvy and Scottyp are in a position to know that me getting the right answers is a feat on its own!  But like I said before, scurvy never even got this far in the thread to read this.  He keeps telling me that we should do a podcast sometime to get TPE, but that’s further down the road.  That would require over 30 minutes of mental acuity and concentration to accomplish just one week of TPE for both of us, and I’m not ready to do that.  And since I have the best signature thanks to orbiting death, there is no need to take a leap into the graphic scene to accomplish tpe.  Basically what I’m saying is, you’re stuck with this crap you just read!

    Review:

I always like re-draft topics and other members opinion on them. Great list with breakdown of why you think the players should have gone in that position (now after 9seasons) For me I would still have Papa #1 and Jerome #2. Goalies to me are usually the #1 player that can make or break a team. It was a great article to read, the only thing I would add is maybe a picture and also maybe tag the members who created those players. I know most like to see these kinds of things. 9/10!

S88 is officially reached the post season and first the first time in his career, Brian Payne is watching from the golf course club house.  From his rookie season in the VHLM, one season in E, and now 6 seasons in the show, he finds himself in an unfamiliar place.  We ran into Payne after Warsaw’s final player/coach meetings and he said the following:

Reporter:  How upset are you with such a talented team not making the playoffs?

Payne: “Well it sucks.  This was Kiss’s @Kisslingerand Marner’s @MetalToday last season before retirement and I really wanted them to taste some wins on the way to another Cup.  They poured their heart and soul for the Preds, and we failed them.”

Reporter:  Brian, what’s next for you and the team. How do you approach next year?

Payne:  “well back to basics.  We still have an amazing group of players like Girts.  I think Girts @Girtswill step up an lead the club next year for sure.”

Reporter:  You’re the Warsaw all-time leading penalty minute leader, blocked shots leader, and in top 5 in hits.  Are looking for some breakout years in your last two season to put that out of reach?

Payne:  “Well I could care less really.  Pretty much a stupid question. I care only for wins, and I play the game that has gotten me here and what I think helps the team the most.  Goodbye."

MetalToday reacted to Girts in Two Warsaw Legends
I've had the honor of playing my entire career so far with two Warsaw Predators legends in Brendan Marner and Zach Kisslinger II. Both of these greats laced up their skates for the final time in the last regular season game of Season 88. They deserved to have one more playoff run but it was not meant to be, yet they went out with incredible seasons and we honor them today. Brendan Marner posted 106 points, 45 goals and 61 assists for his 4th consecutive 100+ point season to end his career, absolutely incredible. The guy is an MVP candidate every year it seems and has been a huge leader in Warsaw. For his career as a Predator he has a gigantic 685 points in 504 games including a Victory Cup in S85 along with multiple other awards. It's been an absolute pleasure being his linemate these past few seasons and I will never forget it. Zach Kissingler II put up another huge season this year for the Predators posting 78 points, 36 goals and 42 assists to close out an awesome career of consistent high scoring dominance. Kisslinger has a ridiculous total of 736 points in 576 games, which to be honest really blows me away. Just a superstar performance from start to finish. He also was part of the S85 Victory Cup team and is an absolute legend. Truly and honor to play with both these guys and I will always remember them. Much respect to my longtime teammates on incredible careers! @MetalToday @Kisslinger

MetalToday got a reaction from Girts in Season 79 Redraft
So, lets do another redraft! This time it’s the season 79 redraft. I heard you guys from the last redraft, but I think I will stick to retired draft classes just to see how players do with all seasons under their belt. In this redraft I have ranked all the players that had played at least one season played in the VHL, as I can’t rank someone for a VHL draft if they do not play. In this case we have 25 players that have played in the VHL from the season 79 draft class. With that being said I wanted to make a special mention to Orion D H Chiester IX who played in the VHLM and VHLE for his entire career. Despite having a 510 TPE, his stats fooled me, I wrote about him because I thought I was looking at his VHL statistics. With that being said, I do not really look at TPE in these rankings, rather I look at points, goals, hits, shots blocked, etc. Anyways, lets get right into my picks:

    25. X Man
X Man was drafted 33rdoverall in the VHL draft, although he only played 1 season in the VHL, his totals are 47 hits, 59 blocked shots and 15 points in 72 games.

    24. Alex Parise
Parise was drafted 21stoverall, also only played one season in the VHL, but in the 62 games he played in, he had a 0.905 save percentage, 3.96 goals against average, and 13 wins.

    23. Connor Wilson
Wilson was drafted 35thoverall and played only one season in the VHL, but collecting 41 points, 86 hits and 40 blocked shots in the 72 games.

    22. Pistol Pete
Pete, drafted 32ndoverall, played 2 seasons in the VHL and had 70 points, 186 hits and 86 shots blocked in the 139 games he’s played in.

    21. Zdeno Chara
Chara was drafted 20thoverall and played in 2 seasons where he put up 281 shots blocked and 90 points in the 144 total played games. A decent 2-way defender that gave Moscow a depth piece in the season 82 cup run. (Though they lost)

    20. Rhys Trenton
Trenton was drafted 17thoverall playing in 3 seasons where he collected 504 hits, 489 blocked shots and 145 points in the 216 games. This was amazing for a depth piece defenceman, and the 74 points in his first season was just a bonus on top of that.

    19. Miroslav Tsarov
Tsarov drafted 16thoverall played 4 seasons in the VHL, and he is another defenceman to collect 71 points in his rookie season, even toping it of with 66 points in his second season. Tsarov eventually became more defensive in the next 2 seasons and in total collecting 217 points, 682 hits, and 339 blocked shots in 288 games.

    18. Jakub Brozik
Brozik was drafted 18thoverall and played in 5 VHL seasons putting up 228 points and 325 hits in 360 games.

    17. Deagun Rust
This might be a little controversial, but Rust was drafted 23rdoverall and didn’t put up great numbers 63 points, and 188 blocked shots in 288 games. But what he mastered was the hitting category, putting up a total of 1015 hits in those 288 games making him one of the best gritty players in the league at the time.

    16. John Baard
Baard was drafted 19th overall, and was a good offensive player, collecting 307 points in 360 games aswell picking up 525 hits in those games.

    15. Em Em Flex
Okay Flex was only a player in 3 seasons, but with the 0.921 save percentage, and only a 2.84 goals against average, and 110 wins in only 176 games, that is and amazing accomplishment. It is also important to mention that Flex brought the Bears to a cup win back in season 83. Flex was drafted 11thoverall.

    14. Bob Beach
One of the biggest jumps on this list is Beach as he was drafted 30thoverall, but as a defenseman put up 142 points, 692 hits and 641 blocked shots in his 287 games that he played in. Beach is a very solid defensive player.

    13. Omi Aberg
Aberg was drafted 12thoverall collecting 401 points and 275 hits in his 432 game career. Aberg was a very consistent player only having 2 off seasons. His final season, and his second season in Warsaw. The rest of the seasons saw him put up a point a game or more. Also being a good depth piece for Warsaw’s cup win in season 84.

    12. Donny Carter
Carter was drafted 22ndoverall (another big jump) to be a winger that put up 343 points, 481 hits, and 232 blocked shots in his 432 career games. He also played as a big role in his final season helping Vancouver win the season 86 cup.

    11. Sunrise van de Schubbekuteveen
That’s a mouth full… Sunrise was drafted 14thoverall collecting 355 points and 509 hits in his 431 game career in the VHL. His most notable season was in his second season where he collected 51 goals and 98 points in that 72 game season.

    10. Sigard Petrenko
Finally, the top 10, starting with Petrenko was drafted 7thoverall and collected 385 points and 214 shots blocked in 432 games, but like some other players on this list, he was a full-time gritty player in the league. He ended up collecting 1369 (nice) hits in his 432 career games making him one of the best 2-way players form this draft class.

    9. Tyler Reinhart
Tyler was drafted 2ndoverall, although this is a huge drop, he played his part well, especially in Vancouver. Tyler was a player that collected 514 points, and 815 hits in his 504 games played. These are crazy point totals, but only seemingly lasting in Vancouver as once he left the Wolves every statistic of his plummeted. But nothing can take away from his 63 goals, 126 point season in season 80. He was also one of the Wolves main pieces in winning the season 80, 81, and 82 cups. Yes, he is an amazing player with amazing totals, but I question why the totals only stay this high when he was apart of the beast Vancouver was in this time.

    8. AJ Williams
William was drafted 5thoverall collecting 484 points, 359 hits and 218 blocked shots in only 432 games. His consistency to get near a point a game or more was impressive overall. The only poor season he had was back in his rookie season where he put up only 61 points, but his best season showed him collecting 106 points and 52 goals in season 83. He was also always a main playoff contributor especially when he helped the Bears go to the final twice, and one of those times even wining it with the Bears.

    7. Tyler Mourning
Mourning played 8 VHL seasons, being drafted 10th overall and collecting 568 points in 576 games. Even though those numbers are good on their own, he was also one of the grittiest players back in his time collecting 2038 hits in his career making him the best 2 way forward in this draft class. An outlying season he had was his 59 goals and 129 point season back in season 82. This lucky man also collected the Continental Cup back in his rookie season.

    6. Poopy Peepants
Peepants was drafted 4thoverall, and this defense put up decent points, 424 points in 576 games, but his real feature was his ability to hit and block shots. 1499 hits and 1058 blocked shots during his VHL tenure. These numbers combined with his points makes him one of the better 2 way defensemen in the draft class. Although his game focused more on his defensive aspect.

    5. Jonathan Ori
Ori was drafted 8thoverall and had a respectable run after the first couple of seasons. In 576 games played Ori had collected 570 points, and 805 hits. The near point a game pace was only made impossible by his first 2 seasons in the VHL where he put up 74 points in 144 games. However, his abilities changed after this, and he was over a point a game player after these seasons. It was also notable that he helped the Bears go to the finals in Season 84, but unfortunately lost in that final.

    4. Baby Bob
The next big jumper is Bob as he was drafted 9thoverall in the VHL draft and had been amazing since he joined the league. With only one season under a point a game… that’s 71 points in 72 games… he was anything but a disappointment. With 559 points, 223 shots blocked, and 553 hits in 432 games he can be easily higher on this list, but some close top talent is still to come. His outlying season was his final season where he collected 64 goals, 117 points and 129 hits that season.

    3. Erlantz Jokinen
Jokinen was drafted 6thoverall and had been an absolute beast of a defender. He collected 537 points in his 574 games, but also in those games put up 978 hits and 1210 shot blocks. These totals are enough to say he was an amazing offensive defenseman, and an amazing defensive defenseman. Although those hit totals, I would like to see higher for defensive players. But regardless, the shots blocked are some of the bests we have seen ion this draft class, you need to account for that. Jokinen also helped Prague go to the finals, but lost it in his last season.

    2. Papa Emeritus
Papa, the 1stoverall pick from this draft class dropped a spot. Papa was one of the best goaltenders in the league up until his retirement, and with his 0.924 save percentage, 2.65 goals against average, and his 262 wins in his 433 games career, this goaltender needs to be considered one of the best the league has seen. Although he has not been the most consistent player to tend the goal, he still had some amazing runs, such as his season 84 stats where he put up a 0.939 save percentage, 1.97 goals against average and 48 wins in 65 games. Although Papa has been to the finals 3 consecutive times, he was beaten by Vancouver in each of those finals. Papa will go down as a Moscow legend.

    1. Jerome Reinhart
Jerome was drafted 3rdoverall, but I have him first after his career, why? Jerome was drafted as a forward and played in Vancouver collecting multiple 100 point seasons to later switch to defence once he went to New York. Regardless of this fact Jerome put up 784 points in 578 games, as well, 919 hits and 866 blocked shots in those games. Yes, most of his blocked shots came from his defensive tenure, but his hits were fairly consistent, in fact, he hit more as a forward. Jerome had four 100 point seasons and a 99 point season. One of the 100 point seasons was done as a defence, as well as his 99 point season. That alone is a crazy stat, but he also recorded 141 points and 59 goals in a season (that’s nearly 2 points a game). Jerome also had a season where he put up 61 goals and 141 points… Just another amazing stat. This is already the best player on this list, but he tops it off with 3 consecutive Continental Cup wins. Now I can hear you complaining, what’s the difference between Jerome Reinhart on Vancouver and Tyler Reinhart on Vancouver? Its simple, once Tyler left Vancouver he struggled, but once Jerome left, he switched to defence and put up another 100 point season, and still consistently collected points, and increased his defensive game as well. Oh yeah, and in season 81 Jerome put up 52 points and 28 goals in only 18 playoff games.

Although these are my rankings, they might still be different depending on the person ranking them, so I want to ask you, what do you think of these rankings? What might you change? Where would you put these players?

Also, I my plan is to make redrafts of retired draft classes to see where they rank after a career, is there any currently retired draft classes you want to see?

MetalToday got a reaction from Scurvy in What is up with Warsaw?
Well, the Warsaw Predators have been severely underwhelming this season. With the addition of Cole Pearce in the off season the expectation was big for Warsaw, but still sitting out of a playoff spot, the team is clearly struggling. Now the odd reality of the struggling team is not only did they add a top goaltender with an excellent backup, but the stars on the team are playing excellent. Brendan Marner has 39 goals and 90 points in only 60 games but is currently at a standstill at that 39-goal mark. Marner is in the top of the leaderboard of both of those feats as well. Brian Payne has shown his skills with the 70 points he has in the 60 games as a defenceman. Payne is in the top 5 for defensive scoring as well. There are 4 players that are between 4 points below or above a point a game. The team isn’t lacking scoring or goaltending, its really just had trouble getting that extra goal to win the games.

MetalToday got a reaction from AJW in Season 79 Redraft

MetalToday reacted to KRZY in KRZY Rambles
I think I’ve procrastinated long enough while trying to figure out what to write for this weeks media spot . So Im gonna bring back my rambling’s for this week and talk about a few different topics as I can’t narrow it down to just one .

    Oslo Heating up !
After being mid tier for a better part of the season and having numerous inconsistent sims this year , The oslo Storm have started to find their way and heat up down the stretch . Oslo has approached this year with the score by committee approach and it has worked for them with numerous players having excellent statistical years. @JB123 has shown yet again why he is one of the best GM’s in the VHLE taking this team from a team that was barely .500 at points in the season to a team that is now just 5 points out of 1st place in the E . Oslo once again looks like a force to be reckoned with going into the playoffs . This is gonna be a fun one folks let’s see if the storm can play for a cup for the fourth year in a row !

    Cooke cracks 1000 TPE
Todd Cooke has recently crack the 1000 TPE plateau. Cooke has put the league on notice this season and joined the conversation as one of the top players in the league this season . The next goal for Cooke will be 1250 TPE , then if he surpasses that milestone I would like to see if I can crack the top 25 all time TPE leaderboard although that seems highly unlikely it still is something worth striving for . We’ll see if that goal is attainable.

    Kyle Tom’s preps for draft
Kyle Tom’s has spent his first season in the VHLM prepping for the draft and trying to build his player to be a productive scoring winger . @Ktoms22 is still finding his way in terms of earning and figuring out how the league works . But I have faith that once he brings everything together there’s no reason he can’t put together a strong career for himself ! I’m my opinion he could very well end up being a steal in the Season 90 draft coming up . Only time will tell folks !

Marner going out with a bang !
Brendan Marner @MetalToday is closing his career out with a bang leading the VHL in goals and points with 39 and 85 respectively. Marner looks like he’s well in his way to having himself another 100 point season while possibly breaking the 50 goal mark for the first time as well . Marner has had a very productive career I truly believe we could see him end up in the Hall of Fame when it’s all said and done . I know one thing he’s definitely got my vote !

    Continental Cup Favourite ?
Is there a clear cut favourite this season ? Im not too sure . Well Prague has to be coming out of the EU conference, but in the NA I think it’s a little closer then the standings indicate, each of the teams in the top 4 have had huge bright spots this season as well as lows . Seattle , Chicago , Calgary , and LA all have the talent to go on a run and win the Continental Cup outright ! It’s gonna be exciting to see how things shake out going down the stretch and into the playoffs .

MetalToday reacted to Thunder in Bone Crushers!
It is certainly getting tougher and tougher each week to come up with a topic to write about.  I’m about to the point of just clicking welfare and training just to avoid having to write anymore.  This shit’s gotta change, especially now that I’m only earning so that depreciation coming up doesnt hit me so hard.  While searching for something to write about, I came up with a list that beats all lists.  And with a little filtering I came up with an idea.  To narrow it down, I had to pick out only active players and went from there.  From this list of 300, I took the top 20 active players who impact games with brutality, bone crushing, show no mercy skills.  If you were tagged for this, you made the list, and I can pretty much guarantee that you will never be even remotely eligible for the Lady Byng Trophy.  So, congratulations to all of you!  Keep in mind, these are active players as of the time of my research and by the time this is in print, your stats likely changed for the better.

Vinny Detroit @dasboot, leads all players, active and retired, with 3099 hits in 629 games played.  Vinny started VHL in season 80 and has been crushing opponents for 5 different teams.  By the end of season 88, Vinny will have a record that will be incredibly hard to beat.  In addition to his outrageous hits, Vinny spends a fair amount of time in the penalty box, with 1704 PIM.  At an average of 5 hits per game, Vinny Detroit is the biggest bad ass of powerful bad asses!  He deserves the #1 ranking.

Vasile Lamb @dlamb, is #2 of active players, pounding opponents with 2177 hits in only 487 games played.  Vasile is on pace at 4.47 hits per game and started bone crushing in the VHL in season 82, and has played for 4 different teams.  Vasile has spent 1011 minutes in the sin bin.  Vasile has some time left in the VHL to attempt to get closer to Vinny’s record, but its not likely he’ll match it.

Zach Kisslinger II @Kisslinger, ranks #3 on the hit list of active players.  Zach started the VHL in season 81 and is at the end of his career, so he will move down on the list.  Zach is able to boast 1678 hits in 557 games, all with Warsaw, at 3 hits per game.  Zach has spent much less time in the penalty box than other bone crushers, but still has a respectable 685 PIMS.  Zach’s career is a definite plus.

Saku Kotkakoivu @DollarAndADream , records 2.9 hits per game and currently holds the #4 rank of active players who like to hurt opponents.  Saku started earning stats in season 81 and has played for 4 different teams.  Saku has hit opponents 1607 times in 557 games.  Saku will overtake Zach by the end of season 88 and move up to the #3 spot.  With 699 PIMS, its likely to see that number increase slightly by the end of the season.  What is it with you players with long ass names making it a pain in the ass for me to type the correctly spelled name?

Brendan Marner @MetalToday, now that’s a nice easy name to spell.  Brendan holds the #5 slot of active players for heavy hitters and is another leader who has played only for Warsaw, and records 3.2 hits per game.  Brendan has 1566 hits in only 485 games.  Brendan started in season 82, and has some time left to move up in the power ranking before retiring.  Sitting in the penalty box 693 minutes has only slowed down Brendan’s pace to come close to Vinny’s hits.

Nico Pearce @Spartan , is #6 on the active list of all time hits.  Nico has played on 4 different teams in the VHL, starting in season 81.  Nico is right on Marner’s tail with 1551 hits, although he’s played 558 games.  Nico is a little better disciplined than Marner, with 660 PIM.  At 2.7 hits per game, Nico has a slight chance of moving up to #4 someday, but unlikely to move above that.  It’s obvious that Nico’s Jersey lifestyle has contributed to his meanness on the ice.

Brian Payne @Scurvy, currently ranks #7 on the all time active hit list.  Don’t let the fact that outside the rink he’s always wearing spandex with the “Curves” logo fool you.  Brian is a monster on the ice.  In only 413 games, Brian has hit 1485 opponents.  At 3.6 hits per game, he’s not about to go after Vinny Detroit’s record, but he could eventually move up the list quite easily.  If Brian could stay out of the penalty box, he might be able to move his hits per game up as well.  The Payne Train has 1251 PIM already and is only 450 PIM behind Detroit.  The undisciplined powerhouse has only played for Warsaw since season 83 and has a couple more seasons to bump his stats.  I’m beginning to see a pattern here that Warsaw produces some serious beasts and promotes heavy hitting and aggressive play, which is right where Payne belongs.  Now, if you are reading this and you wonder why I’m giving Payne so much more ink than others, its because I know him IRL, and he is anything but a tough guy IRL.  He’s a squishy little lamb who pisses all over his leg at the first sign of trouble, so he is able to be tough in the VHL!

Sven Eightnine @BarzalGoat, is #8 currently on the list of meat eaters.  He started his punishing in season 81 and has only played for Seattle and New York.  At a shocking 2.6 hits per game, Sven has played 558 games and has 1425 hits. Sven is on pace to maintain the #8 spot but there’s another hitter right on his tail with 1423 hits.  At first glance you would think Alessandro Nano might overtake Sven, but unlike Sven, Alessandro has played out his seasons. Sven has also spent 857 minutes in the penalty box.

Alessandro Nano @leafsman, is currently #9 and his stats are so close to Sven Eightnine, you’d think they were twins.  Alessandro has played 558 games and has 1423 hits registered, making an impressive 2.6 hits per game.  He has also been in the sin bin for 881 minutes.  Alessandro started in season 81, and has played for 3 teams, but not for Warsaw.  Alessandro is retiring and his stats will be frozen soon.

Daniel Janser @Daniel Janser, rounds out the list of top 10 active hitters in the VHL.  He’s been in the league since season 82, playing for only 1 team, not Warsaw!  At 2.8 hits per game, Daniel has played 485 games and has recorded 1380 hits with 695 PIM.  Daniel is Calgary’s current leader and is the team tough guy.  He’s only a short number from moving up to the #9 spot and dropping Alessandro.  With a couple more successful seasons, Daniel could move up a few spots.

Matty Fire @MattyFired, is currently #11 on the all time list of bone crushers at just under 2 hits per game.  Matty has 1245 hits in 631 games.  He started in season 80 playing for 4 different teams.  Matty is somewhat disciplined with only 538 minutes in the box.  There is quite a gap between the #11 spot and Janser in the #10 spot, which makes it unlikely Matty will move up in the ranking.  Nevertheless, #11 all time is a good number to be at.  There are only 10 better than Matty.

Tavish DeGroot @rory, is currently #12 on the active list and has some seasons left to boost his stats and move up.  He started in season 82, playing for 5 different teams, Tavish hits no matter where he plays.  With 1223 hits in only 487 games, Tavish has some room to grow with 2.5 hits per game.  And 855 penalty minutes only prove that Tavish doesn’t back down and can hurt any opponent.  It’s probable that Tavish moves up at least 2 spots before he hangs up his skates, or I should say he stops taping his knuckles.

Dabnad Shaw @Dabnad started in season 83 and is currently #13 on the active list of punishers.  Dabnad has played in 414 games and has 1160 hits already.  Dabnad could knock down a few above him but his pace of 2.8 hits per game needs to boost in order for him to move up any further on the list.  He spends a fair amount of time in the penalty box with 925 PIM.  Dabnad is a steady player who has been on two teams in the VHL.

Igor Molotov @Dom, is currently #14 on the top active hit list.  He started in season 83 and has played for Malmo and London.  Igor has recorded 1114 hits in 413 games.  Igor is a disciplined destroyer with only 541 PIM.  At 2.7 hits per game, Igor can only move up on this list, possibly 2 or 3 spots before retiring.

Cadmael Ixazaluoh @Vice, hits opponents on average over 2.2 times per game, currently ranks #15 on the VHL all time active hit list.  Cadmael has been with Toronto since season 82 and has recorded 1089 hits in 486 games.  In addition to hitting for Toronto, he has spent 799 minutes in the box.  Cadmael has a small chance of moving up in the ranks, with a little aggressiveness and attitude.  And here’s another name that was hard to spell causing my eyes to blur!

Perry Laperriere @KaleebtheMighty, currently ranks #16 on the hit list, and #1 or #2 on making it difficult for me to type without a misspelled name.  Perry L has only played for one team, not Warsaw, since season 83, and has registered 1056 hits in 412 games.  At 2.6 hits per game, it won’t take long for Perry to move up in the ranking.  Perry has also spent 439 minutes in the penalty box for Prague.  Quite frankly, the more time in the box when Perry is facing Davos, the happier I will be!

Maximus Decimus Meridius @Beaviss, WTF, another long ass name to screw with me.  Maximus is currently ranked #17 on the active hit list and has played 453 games hitting opponents 1028 times.  At 2.3 hits per game, Maximus will not pass Perry but may overtake Cadmael before retirement.  Maximus is a disciplined player with 401 PIM, playing for 3 teams since season 82.

Cobalt Burns @Ledge, averages 3.8 hits per game and is currently ranked #18 on the active hit list.  There is only one place to go for Cobalt, and that is up on the list as Cobalt has played in the VHL since season 85 and is still building his TPE.  With only 270 games under his belt and registering 1023 hits, Cobalt is a menace to be watched.  Playing for 3 teams thus far, I can see other teams looking to latch onto Cobalt for the help to raise the cup.  Cobalt already has 406 PIM, and although he doesnt have a chance of breaking Detroit’s record, he will hold onto a PIM leaderboard spot.

Ronan Lavelle @Arce, is currently #19 on the active hit list.  Averaging 2.4 hits per game, Ronan has plenty of time to move up on the list of active hitters.  Ronan has played in 414 games and has 1010 hits registered to his name.  Playing on two teams since season 83, Ronan has also spent 444 minutes in the penalty box.  Now, Ronan may not pass Cobalt, he will likely move up at a steady pace until he retires.

Nezuko @Baozi, finishes the list of the top 20 active bone crushers.  I don’t think Nezuko will stay in the top 20 with an average of 2 hits per game, but while Nezuko is on the list, Nezuko gets credit.  Nezuko has played on 4 teams since season 82 and has registered 989 hits in 486 games.  Nezuko is the most disciplined player on the top 20 active list with 361 PIM.

It should be noted that this list is fluid and by tomorrow there may be a different player holding the #20 slot, and eventually there will be more than 20 active players in the top 300 list.  Pay attention to Phil Strasmore @Phil who has a career average of 3 hits per game and is currently #2 on season 88 top 10 hitters.  In addition, Joey Coaster @FANTEIGE, averages 4.1 hits per game as a rookie.  Mo Probert @Yahtzee, is in the top 10 hitters for season 88, and has a career average of 3.2 hits per game.  These three players will be rising up the list quickly as they get more games under their belts.

Damn, this took a long time to write.  Too much work makes one want to stop earning TPE!

MetalToday reacted to Scurvy in Around the League
For this week’s Around the League in 500 words I figured I’d cover the current race to playoffs in VHL, honoring two Predator legends, , and check in on Rip Wheeler’s effort thus far.

    Continental Cup Race
At around the 50-game mark VHL clubs in the EU and NA are in a desperate and close race to the gain playoff spots.  In the NA conference Chicago and Seattle are battling back and forth for the top spot and I see overall leader change weekly.  Don’t sleep on Calgary, LA, and Vancouver either as they all can put up numbers quick and who knows what trades could happen that could bring those 3,4,5 clubs to the forefront.   Overall, I predict Chicago to pull ahead and win the division.

As per usual in the EU, crazy shit is happening.  Last year playoff surprise club, Riga, is in last place, a tough and usually high scoring Warsaw is in 2nd to last, while Prague and London have launched their way into a definite playoff spot.  Prague was my last year’s underrated club and I am not surprised to see them killing the division.  They are tough in goal, offense, and D so I am happy to see their success.  Meanwhile, Davos, London, Helsinki, and Moscow are all still very competitive clubs and if we know something about the EU is that no division lead is safe.
I predict Prague to win division.

Marner and Kisslinger set Pred records
Its official, Brendan Marner @MetalToday and Zach Kisslinger @Kisslinger are Warsaw royalty!  As of this season they have officially become the #1 and #2 all time scorers for the club as well as #1 and 2 in hits.  These two warriors have been a cornerstone in the last 8 season for a club that has known mostly success.  They are both set to retire at the end of the season and its looking like Warsaw might not make the post season.  Sad to see if they don’t.  Marner is currently siting #1 in points this season with 80 so I am hoping he can win a scoring title in his final year.
    Zach Kisslinger:  554 games 227 G 424 A 701 pts 1690 hits
    Brendan Marner: 482 g        281 G 376 A 657 pts.  1550 hits

Great job you two and I have been proud to be on the same club with you both!  PAYNE

    RIP “MFING” Wheeler
OK…so partly this is to get Rip @ScottyPScott focused on earning as we were “working” the other day and I asked him if he had done his point tasks.  I saw the dumbfounded, somewhat dullard look on his face and knew that he hadn’t.  Not only didn’t he do his tasks, the dumdum said  forgot to even do welfare.  It happens.  But, as I look at his updates I have to say I am pretty proud of my recruit thus far.  He is playing for a 4th place Oslo club with quite a few forwards.  He currently sits at 311 TPE and has 12 G 17 A 29 PTS in 52 games. Not great numbers but lots of room for improvement.   He does have a decent total of hits with 146 but only 7 blocked shots!!!!   C’mon Rip, don’t be afraid to get in front of something, this isn’t powder puff!  @Thunder is going to clown you for that number.   I am rooting for Rip to keep earning so I can play against him in the VHL next season....and smash his face.

    Happy May everyone!

MetalToday got a reaction from Scurvy in Wait Brendan Marner is where?
Holy moly, I have not been watching the league leaders close enough. This week I noticed Brendan Marner on top yet again with goals and total points, this might not be a surprise for most people considering last season, but for me, I am very surprised. Brendan Marner is on a good team, however the team has been struggling, so the GM thought bringing in a better goaltender and changing the defensive style of play would help. It did, but not enough for Brendan Marner to gather the totals he did the last few seasons. This is quite a spectacle; I was so certain the team went defensive I was preparing to be one of the best defensive teams in the league. Well, that was proven wrong recently, and can I say I am very pleased? Yes, we didn’t win anything last season, but it feels good to still \have the intensity fans want to see from our offense.

MetalToday got a reaction from Scurvy in Warsaws Rough Start
It is a down year for Brendan Marner, he has 24 points in 21 games, this brings him well off the leaderboard for the most points in the league. With 11 goals as another complement, it helps, but he is still not a top goal scorer either. This is a real change from last season, but well take the heat for now. The team is doing very good defensively, but really lacking offensively, the team is showing different colors than last season, but getting the same result. They need to somehow take up their scoring but keep the defense good. I am not sure why the team is doing so poor a quarter of the way through the season, but look at what’s working, and what needs to improve and you can get the recipe for success. The goaltending is looking like what will push them into the playoffs right now.

MetalToday reacted to sadie in my S88 VHFL and Super Coach thoughts
With this season being the first with the new Super Coach fantasy opportunity (and because I need TPE), I thought I would review my fantasy picks for S88. While I can't exactly gauge how good my Super Coach team might be, I think this VHFL squad is the best I have ever drafted in my entire 3 seasons of it. I have high hopes which hopefully don't come crashing down too quickly.

    VHFL

    F - Brendan Marner @MetalToday Pick #6 (absolute steal)
At 5th overall on the VHFL leaderboards and the 2nd forward, this was the pick that made sense at #6. Marner is the player with the highest TPA across the VHL, leading The Board Game Clue on Skates by more than 50. With a staggering league leading 111 points last year, similar numbers would be awesome and a total even higher than that would give me a huge boost. They score, pass, hit, and lead Warsaw, crucial to their success in every game. If shot blocking numbers get a bit higher this year, Marner would be even more of a perfect VHFL player.

    S87 rank:
    -5th among skaters
    -2nd among forwards

    F - Landon Wolanin @jacobcarson877 Pick #7 (absolute steal)
Wolanin will no doubt tear apart the league's defense and goaltending for another year while playing with the likes of Daniel Janser and Leandro Goncalves as well as Marlins legend Vincent Laroche-Gagnier. Coming hot off a 99 point season and looking for more, Landon the Marlins legend has seemingly succeeded in fighting off hard hitting depreciation, still ranked top 10 in TPA. In S87, he was ranked second in goals to only the insane season of Sirdsvaldis Miglaskems and 5th in overall points. I only see Calgary becoming stronger this season after winning the Continental Cup and with them, Wolanin's fantasy stats.

    S87 rank:
    -14th among skaters
    -5th among forwards

    F - Vasile Lamb @dlamb Pick #18 (absolute steal)
Lamb, my 3rd round pick and perennially one of the best in the league, looks lined up for another great season to round out my forward group. With 945 TPA to their name, they will work with Hulk Hogan 2 and Tavish Degroot to try to get Seattle deep into the playoffs. Lamb ranked 1st overall in VHL hits last season and put up an impressive 85 points and although depreciation will have taken its toll, the players they are surrounded with will make up for any impact that may have I hope. Taking all three forwards with my first 3 picks seems to have panned out really well considering I still had such good defensive and goaltending talent left on the board.

    S87 rank:
    -9th among skaters
    -3rd among forwards

    D - Siyan Yasilievich @badcolethetitan Pick #19 (absolute steal)
After posting what has been by far the most stellar season of their career with NINETY FOUR POINTS and 23 goals as a defenseman, Yasilievich, an S83, looks to repeat their greatness. They had triple digits in hits and blocks as well as 19 points in 16 games in aid of Davos' finals run. Not to mention, winning the Alexander Beketov trophy for most assists. Siyan's move to London shouldn't slow them down too much as they now have the opportunity to play with Hari Singh Nalwa and forwards the likes of Molly the Cat, Igor Molotov, and Marlins legend Leonard Triller. A more than solid pick I was certain I wouldn't get as low as 18 and one I am very glad I did.

    S87 rank:
    -12th among skaters
    -8th among defensemen

    D - AK92 Wit da Hoodie @hedgehog337 Pick #30 (absolute steal)
AK92 Wit da Hoodie is starting the season off the right way with 14 points in 9 games, already solidifying my faith in what was an amazing grab at 30. Tied for 3rd in league scoring, they look to be on their way to an even better season than last year. Having had 66 points, 218 hits, and 168 blocks, the huge boost in TPE this year to above 1100 is going to drive the numbers up and should place AK92 as one of the best defensemen in the league. They will play with Hammar Voss in Moscow, the player with the third most TPA leaguewide, and have dynamic stars like Ronan Lavelle and Tomas Sogaard to feed the puck to, something that has happened many times this year already.

    S87 rank:
    -20th among skaters
    -11th among defenseman

    G - Lachlan Summers @kirbithan Pick #31 (absolute steal)
Lachlan Summers, a true Marlins legend also known as the Mad Aussie, is a wild card pick for this year, but one I think will be one of, if not the biggest breakout star this year. I picked him to win the Stolzschweiger because after placing top 3 in GAA and SV% last year (despite the small sample size) my confidence is high. Davos is going to be a force for another season this year, looking to repeat their finals run and secure the championship this time. Boosting my confidence is the presence of dependable defensemen like Jake Thunder and David Jokinen the Marlins legend who will further aid in Lachlan's attempt to win me both my VHFL and my Super Coach TPE (as that is of course his primary aim).

    S87 rank:
-17th among goalies (rookie in S88)

I think every one of the players I selected should have been gone before the point where I picked them, some by a significant margin. If things play out how I think they will, which of course there is no guarantee of, I have an excellent chance at those 6 TPE.

    Super Coach

    LW - Nezuko (cost - 10)
For my big cost player, I picked Nezuko partially because I couldn't afford a Wolanin or a Marner as it would leave me with very little room to maneuver with my other players. Nezuko also simply had an insane 98 point season last year, a solid jump from 84 the season before and they are also surrounded by 4 other 1000+ TPA players in Miglaskems, Maloish, Murray, and Vandelay. Hopefully they can be of similar value to those very top players at an excellent and efficient cost.

    S87 rank:
    -22nd among skaters
    -11th among forwards

    LW - Sadie St-Louis (cost - 6) @sadie
Well I've gone and picked myself. After having a good season with 59 points last year, Sadie St-Louis the Marlins legend should improve even more this year playing with teammates like Daniel Weaver and the Frenchman (who I totally didn't also pick). She had triple digit hits and for only 6 cost, should be one of the best value picks at that cost to make this work. Also, if I had a good season and didn't pick myself, I totally would have regretted it.

    S87 rank:
    -84th among skaters
    -47th among forwards

    C - The Frenchman (cost - 😎@OrbitingDeath
The Frenchman, after a large resurgence with 77 points in 72 games after having 51 in S86, is one of the players I am most optimistic about this year. OrbitingDeath from what I have seen, finds ways to build amazing players season after season, and hopefully the Frenchman is no exception. I depend on Riga and their young core for my Super Coach team to work at all, and they are going to lead them into the future. This year, they should break the 100 hit mark and I hope for somewhere in the 80s in points if not just for the sake of Super Coach, but for the sake of Riga and St-Louis' fortunes.

    S87 rank:
    -69th among skaters
    -39th among forwards

    D - Skor McFleury (cost - 6) @Alex
To finish out my over-dependence and bias towards the Riga Reign, we have Skor McFleury. McFleury was one of the most exciting young rookies this league had to offer last year, placing 8th in rookie scoring as an S87 defenseman among many S86 players. I think playing with Max Torq is going to be an absolutely massive points boost for Skor and the fact that Riga SHOULD be more competitive in general certainly won't hurt. They are definitely the 6 cost defenseman with by far the most upside and I am excited to see what happens for them.

    S87 rank:
    -98th among skaters

    D - Tater Tottingham (cost - 5) @Trunkxolotl
To finish out my Super Coach skaters, we have Tater Tottingham. They had a quiet but very solid 100 hits and 150 shots blocked last season, which along with their 35 points was good enough to lift them into the top one hundred skaters for VHFL. As the defenseman with the highest TPA on the Toronto Legion, Tottingham should see a lot of playing time and hopefully will get to create with the likes of Mac Atlas on the power play as well. The big minutes Tottingham may play give me hope for a big breakout season and I hope this is a good underdog pick.

    S87 rank:
    -92nd among skaters

    G - Lachlan Summers (cost - 7)

i have said my piece on this australian man already, 3.82, 3.62

Well there we have it. My fantasy hopes for the S88 VHL season. One team full of players that I am brimming with confidence in, and one team with a much more uncertain future. I'd say it is definitely unique though which I believe counted for something. Please be kind to me simon.
